Honda U-BE Electric Scooter With Single Seat Makes Global Debut

Honda U-BE Electric ScooterElectric two-wheeler segment in China is far more evolved, as compared to the Indian market
Honda’s Chinese subsidiary Wuyang Honda has multiple electric two-wheelers in the Chinese market including electric bicycles, electric moped, and electric scooters. The company has recently launched two new products, one of which is U-GO electric scooter. The second product is U-be, which is pretty radical in it design and form.
Honda U-be electric scooter – key features
Meant for short city sprints, Honda U-be is a single seat electric scooter. It looks just like a standard electric scooter, but at the rear, the pillion section has been chopped off completely. That leaves the rear wheels in a protruding position. It may take some time to accept the radical design of U-be and to understand that it’s focused more on utility.
The basic idea is to reduce overall weight of the scooter, so that it can extract more miles from the battery. Honda U-be comes with a large floorboard, which can be used to carry a wide variety of heavy items such as groceries, luggage, etc.
The scooter has a comfortable upright riding stance. With the large foot space, users can expect optimal comfort and easy mount and dismount. Other key features include anti-theft key lock and USB port.
    Honda U-BE Electric Scooter
Once the brain adjusts to its radical profile, one can appreciate that this scooter is quite cute indeed. Some key styling bits include trendy headlamp with integrated turn indicators, sharp tail lamp, and comfy, dual-tone saddle with quilted pattern.
The scooter is equipped with a stylish digital instrument console that displays a range of information such as speed, odometer, mileage, voltage, and battery status. Colour options for U-be include white, grey, red and blue.
    Honda U-be powertrain and specs
Depending on their needs, customers can choose from three battery packs – 48V-15Ah, 48V-20Ah and 48V-24Ah. Respective mileage for these battery packs is 55km, 70km, and 85km. The scooter utilizes a high-efficiency motor that is low on noise and power consumption.
    Honda U-BE Electric Scooter
Overall ride dynamics is further enhanced with the high-performance controller. It ensures smooth power supply and takes care of problem areas such as over-voltage, over-current, and over-temperature. Honda U-be can easily tackle slopes of up to 12 degrees. At 54 kg, Honda U-be will be pretty easy to manoeuvre. The only concern that some users can have is that this scooter has max speed of 25 kmph.
It is unlikely that U-be will be launched in India. Here, the company is planning something different. One of these could be Benly e electric, which was recently spotted undergoing ARAI testing. By 2024, Honda has plans to launch at least three electric two-wheelers in India. More

New Honda U-GO Electric Scooter Debuts With 133 Kms Range

Honda U-Go Electric ScooterWhile Honda has no intentions of bringing the U-Go e-scooter to India anytime soon, it would make a very tempting buy considering all the benefits added
Honda’s future in electric mobility especially in the two-wheeler segment has been a point of discussion in recent months. While the auto giant has filed multiple patents for electric two-wheelers in India, none of them are confirmed to reach production levels eventually as of now.
On the other hand, in China, Honda has already marked its presence in the electric mobility space. Wuyang Honda, the Chinese arm of Honda Motor Company, has launched a new electric scooter named U-Go at a rather affordable starting price of CNY 7,499 (approx. INR 86,000) and is offered in two variants- regular and low-speed.
    Simple Design
The latter is priced at CNY 7,999 (approx. INR 91,700). In terms of design, it does remind us a wee bit of Ather 450X but no, it isn’t a Chinese rip-off, especially with the scooter donning the brand name of Honda. The company has adopted a clean and minimalist design approach for this electric scooter. It flaunts a sleek LED headlight with triple beams on the front apron and an LED DRL strip encircling the main cluster.
The turn indicators are neatly integrated on the sides of the handlebar. The rear flaunts a slim LED taillight along with a single-piece pillion grab rail integrated onto the body. It gets a generously sized 350mm long floorboard. The blacked-out panels on the handlebar, floorboard, underbelly, tail section, rear suspension and rear mudguard add a hint of sporty contrast. The single-piece flat seat promises fairly simple riding ergonomics.
    Honda U-Go Electric Scooter
    Features on offer
In terms of features, U-Go e-scooter gets a fairly spacious boot with an under-seat storage capacity of 26 litres. Other features include all-LED illumination, a utility glove box, an anti-theft alarm and a USB charging port.
More importantly, it gets an LCD instrument console that provides basic information like speed, range, battery status and riding mode. The scooter rides on 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels.
    Specifications
Coming to its specifications, U-Go is powered by a 48V 30Ah Lithium-ion removable battery pack which is coupled with a 1.2kW hub motor on the regular model. The low-speed variant gets a less powerful 800W motor. The powertrain returns a maximum range of 65km which can be doubled 130km by the addition of a second battery. However, the addition of the second battery comes at the cost of reduced under-seat storage.
    Honda U-Go Electric Scooter
The regular variant offers a top speed of 53kmph. Suspension duties on the electric scooter are handled by telescopic forks at front and dual shock absorbers at rear with preload adjustability. Braking hardware comprises a disc brake at front and a drum brake at rear. It gets a very accessible seat height of 740mm. More

Sales charts were led by Honda Activa, the company’s most popular model, followed by that of CB Shine, Dio scooter and Unicorn. Their CB350 motorcycle continues to record decent sales.
    Honda Sales – July 2021
This increased demand is in view of the company’s dealer network once again resuming operations following lockdowns announced across several states. This surge could also be attributed to a favourable monsoon season, increased demand for personal means of transport and the upcoming festive season.
    July Highlights
Apart from record sales, HMSI also achieved much during the past month. For a start the company expanded its BigWing dealerships with a new BigWing Topline inaugurated in Chennai for its premium big bike business vertical. There was also the opening of a BigWing outlet in Chandigarh for mid-size segment sales.
Honda 2Wheeler also introduced BigWing ‘Service on Wheels (SOW)’ initiative for better management of after sales services for its big bike customers in the country. This ‘Service on Wheels’ will take quality service to the customer’s doorstep and is particularly looked upon with favour during these pandemic times.
The company has also commenced deliveries of its CB650R and CBR650R models, launched in India in March 2021 and priced at Rs 8.67 lakh and Rs 8.88 lakh respectively. Delivery also commenced for the company’s 2021 Gold Wing Tour, its flagship model that is being retailed via Honda BigWing Topline dealerships in Gurugram, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Indore.
Honda Gold Wing Tour is offered in two variants in India with manual and DCT and priced at Rs 37,20,342 and Rs 39,16,055 lakh respectively. This exclusive premium touring motorcycle has seen such outstanding demand that the first batch was completely booked within 24 hours of opening announcement.
In view of the current scenario and urgent need for social distancing, Honda also accepts online service booking wherein customers can set dates for servicing of their two wheelers via the company’s online portal. They will receive confirmation via email or SMS so as to reach the service centers at the appointed time. The company has also introduced the Parts App mobile application for retailers and distributors to gain access to all part related information.
As a part of the company’s Road Safety initiative, HMSI celebrates of the 5th anniversary of Traffic Training Park in Ludhiana. This is a training facility that is based on a mini city concept wherein 1.45 lakh riders have received added knowledge on road safety to date. More

New Honda 200cc Adventure Motorcycle NX200 Based On Hornet – Is This It?

Honda NX200 Adventure Motorcycle Teaser?Honda Motorcycle And Scooter India has shared a new teaser today – The new motorcycle will debut on 19th August
When it comes to surprising automotive audience about a new product launch, Honda two wheeler takes the cake. Usually OEMs upcoming product plans are well known before the actual unveil, thanks to the testing done on public roads. But that is not the case with Honda. Their products are rarely spotted before testing in India – giving no indication about what they plan to launch next.
They surprised all with the CB350 last year. And now are getting ready to reveal yet another surprise later this month. For the same, Honda has shared a new teaser video. From what is available, it looks like the much-awaited entry-level adventure tourer from Honda India.
Honda NX200 ADV Based On Hornet?
Earlier this year, Honda registered the name ‘NX200‘ in India. This was reported to be the Hornet 2.0 based adventure tourer for India. Now taking a look at the teaser video shared by Honda, it does look like the ADV is based on Hornet. For one, the headlight unit is similar.
Even the front suspension is in golden colour, as is the case with Hornet 2.0. Other noticeable updates of the new Honda 200cc adventure tourer includes knuckle guards, larger windscreen, wider handlebar, bigger fairing, engine protector, etc. Take a look at the teaser video below.
    [embedded content]
Powering this new adventure tourer will most likely be the same 183.4 cc single cylinder engine from Hornet 2.0. This engine delivers 17 hp and 16.1 Nm. It is mated to a 5 speed gearbox. More details are expected in the coming days.
    Honda NX200 Adventure Motorcycle ?
Honda Increasing Focus On Larger cc Motorcycles
In the Indian motorcycle market, the 200-400cc segment is quite active and interesting since it essentially acts as a bridge between a conventional commuter and an entry-level sports motorcycle. With the likes of Bajaj, KTM, Hero MotoCorp, TVS, Royal Enfield etc., ruling the said segment, Honda Motorcycle India was often pointed as the one that’s missing out.
Even though Honda Motorcycle India sells most of its premium motorcycles from its global portfolio via exclusive Honda Wing World outlets, the company’s primary focus for the wider market is commuter motorcycles and scooters. The Honda CBR250R was an exception, but the faired sports bike was a decade old and was discontinued back in 2020.
With the Hornet 2.0, Honda renewed their stance in the 200cc segment. With the CB350, Honda entered the 350cc segment. Now these two engine platforms are expected to deliver a wider range of motorcycles in the future. More
