2022 Honda CB150X First Official TVC – Features Detailed

    New Honda CB150X
Honda will not be launching CB150X in India anytime soon – More powerful CB200X is already on sale in the country
Honda launched its entry-level adventure tourer last month in Indonesia and became the brand’s smallest bike in the CBX range beating CB200X. A detailed comparison between the two bikes has already been covered to give an idea between the two motorcycles.
Making its maiden appearance at the 2021 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), the new CB150X borrows its underpinnings from its street naked counterpart- CB150R Streetfire. A new TV commercial for CB150X has been released on social media by Honda in Indonesia which highlights key attributes of the ADV tourer.
2022 Honda CB150X TVC ADV Styling
Like the India-spec CB200X, CB150X is a road-biased tourer with the clothing of an adventure bike. Hence, it tends to flaunt the styling of a proper adventure bike even though its credentials might not support the tag. It gets a signature ADV-style front beak along with a sculpted fuel tank with long shrouds. In fact, the tank shrouds in CB150X are functional which protects the bike’s radiator from any external debris.
To add to its muscular appeal, Honda has also offered a bash plate which also protects the engine underbelly. Enhancing its touring capabilities is a luggage mounting rack as an accessory and comfortable riding ergonomics thanks to a straight single-piece handlebar turned inwards and centre-set footpegs. It also benefits from an accessible seat height of 805mm.

Other notable styling highlights include a tall windscreen, a raked-up tail section, a single-piece saddle, an upswept side-on exhaust and a beefy fuel tank. The golden-coloured front forks also add to the bike’s visual appeal. Another critical aspect highlighted in the commercial video is its impressive ground clearance of 181mm which is helpful while treading along undulated paths.
    Mechanical Specs
Powering CB150X is a 149cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. This powertrain is good enough to generate 16.5 bhp at 9000rpm and 13.8Nm of peak torque at 7000rpm. CB150X is underpinned by a diamond-type frame that sits on 37mm Showa USD forks at front with 150mm of travel and a mono-shock at rear.
Braking is carried out by wavy disc brakes at both ends though there is no mention of ABS. CB150X rolls on 17-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels which are shd with road-biased tyres. Other features on offer include full LED illumination and a fully-digital LCD instrument console. However, it doesn’t offer any form of connectivity options.
Offered at a starting price of RP 32 million (approx. INR 1.67 lakh) in Indonesia, the baby adventure tourer is not likely to be launched in India anytime soon. This is likely because it is about Rs 21,000 dearer than the CB200X, which is already on sale in the country. More

    2022 Honda 400cc Motorcycles CBR400R, CB400X Launched in Japan

2022 Honda CB400XBoth CBR400R and CB400X are unlikely to launch in India anytime soon but Honda could expand the CB500 range in India
Honda has launched updated versions of its 400cc offerings- CBR400R and CB400X in Japan. The former is a fully-faired sports bike whereas the latter is an adventure tourer. Both motorcycles have received a significant makeover over their predecessor and made their global debuts at the 2021 Shanghai Auto Show in China earlier this year.
CB400s from Honda have been very popular in Japan since riding anything above 400cc would require a person to obtain a special licence which is a complicated and expensive affair in the country. The updates incorporated in both the CB400s are in line with their 500cc counterparts.
    2022 Honda 400cc Motorcycles – CBR400R Updates
More than fashion, the updates on these entry-level big bikes from Honda are functional as the Japanese auto giant has fitted both these motorcycles with improved hardware and more premium components. Starting with CBR400R, the biggest addition in the sports bike is the Showa SFF-BP upside-down forks up front. The separate big piston forks ensure a more pliant ride in order to improve the overall riding experience.
Further, improvements have been made to the bike’s braking department as well. Instead of a single disc brake with an axially mounted calliper, Honda now offers CBR400R with dual discs at front. This has enhanced the bike’s safety and reduced the stopping distance by a fair margin.
    2022 Honda CB400R
    2022 Honda 400cc Motorcycles – CB400X Updates
Coming to CB400X, the adventure tourer also receives its fair share of updates. The 2022 iteration of CB400X also features upside-down forks up front instead of conventional telescopic forks in the outgoing model. Additionally, the motorcycle now comes with dual disc brakes instead of a single disc brake at front. It continues to roll on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels shod with dual-purpose tyres.
In terms of styling, the adventure bike is almost identical to its predecessor. It carries forward signature AVD styling elements such as a tall windscreen, a sculpted fuel tank and front-heavy quarter-fairing. Like most other entry-level ADVs, CB400X remains a road-biased tourer despite the improvements.
    Engine Specs & Prices
Powering both motorcycles is a common 399cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine which is mated to a six-speed gearbox via a slipper and assist clutch. Equipped with a 180-degree crank, this motor pushes out 45.4 bhp at 9,000rpm and 37 Nm of peak torque at 7500rpm.
2022 CBR400R is available in three colour options- Grand Prix Red, Matte Ballistic Black Metallic, and Matte Jeans Blue Metallic and is offered at a price of JPY 841,500 (approx. INR 5.62 lakh). On the other hand, CB400X is available in two paint schemes namely Pearl Glare White and Matte Ballistic Black Metallic and is offered at a price of JPY 858,000 (approx. INR 5.78 lakh). More

Growing popularity of CB350 has prompted Honda to target this segment more aggressively. Over the next three years, the company has plans to increase sales of its 250-500cc bikes to 3 lakh units per annum. To make it possible, Honda will be introducing multiple new motorcycles in middleweight segment.
Honda CB350 Anniversary edition gets golden themed emblems incorporated on the tank & side panel. The Anniversary Edition logo sits atop the tank in a pin-striped fashion further substantiating the rider’s pride of ownership. Accentuating the overall theme is its Brown Coloured Dual Seat for added comfort to both rider and pillion while its Chrome side-stand enhances premium appeal of the motorcycle.
    2021 Honda CB350 Anniversary Edition
Body coloured Front & Rear Mudguards help the product theme to maintain one flow in terms of design uniformity. The reimagined Crown Handle synchronized elegantly with different color options maintains the motorcycle’s rugged image. It is be available in two colour options – Pearl Igneous Black and Matt Marshal Green Metallic.
    2021 Honda CB300R BS6 Showcased
In line with its strategy to aggressively target the middleweight segment, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) will soon be launching the BS6 version of CB300R. The bike was available in India earlier, but it was discontinued when BS6 norms came into effect from April 1, 2020. In its BS4 format, Honda CB300R was imported as CKD. Only a limited number of units were available for sale. The last known price of the bike was Rs 2.41 lakh.
Updated BS6 CB300R could be assembled locally to keep costs down. It is to note that Euro 5 version of the bike is not available in international markets. India could be the first country to get the greener CB300R. The bike was quite popular when it was available in India. In just a few months post its launch in 2019, all available units of CB300R were sold out.

Honda Benly e Electric Scooter Swappable Battery To Be Made In India

Honda Benle e Electric Scooter with battery swappable techHonda Motor Japan have setup a new subsidiary in India which will manufacture battery packs for Electric scooters, EVs
Honda has established a new subsidiary in India which will provide battery packs for small mobility in the country. Officially named Honda Power Pack Energy India Private Limited, this firm will also be responsible for battery swapping technologies in upcoming two-wheelers from the Japanese brand.
The registered office is located in Bengaluru. MD of this new company is Kiyoshi Ito. It has been setup with a capital of Rs 135 crores. Honda Motor Japan owns 100% stake in the subsidiary. The company aims to accelerate the penetration of electric vehicles (EVs) by solving three issues of electric vehicles: limited range, long charging time and high cost of batteries. However, services of the subsidiary won’t be limited to the electric two-wheeler space only.
Honda Battery Made In India – Mobile Power Pack e:
The firm plans to start battery sharing service for electric auto rickshaws (E-auto) from the first half of 2022 in Bengaluru, Karnataka and expand its operations in other Indian cities in a phased manner. Subscribers can avail services from the nearest battery-swapping station located in the city to exchange used batteries with fully charged ones.
The Japanese auto giant has branded the all-new portable and swappable batteries as ‘Honda Mobile Power Pack (MPP) e:’. By using this service, owners need not wait for charging and can get back on the road. These batteries will be made in India by Honda.
Honda Benle e Electric Scooter with battery swappable tech
Interestingly, this is the same battery pack which also powers the Benly e electric scooter. The same scooter that has already spied on test near Pune earlier this year in June. This electric scooter has been specifically developed to cater to everyday pickup and delivery services. It is expected to be launched in India next year.
    Benly e- Specs
Test mules of Benly e e-scooter have already been spotted on a couple of occasions previously. It made its maiden appearance at the 46th Tokyo Motor Show back in 2019. The scooter is powered by an electric motor that derives its energy from Honda’s MPP comprising two 48V, 20.8Ah lithium-ion batteries.
Benly e is offered in four trims namely Benly e I, Benly e I Pro, Benly e II and Benly e II Pro. These trims are offered with different motor specifications. Benly e I and I Pro feature a 2.8 kW (3.8 bhp) electric motor which returns a torque output of 13 Nm. On the other hand, Benly e II and II Pro are propelled by a 4.2 kW (5.7 bhp) electric motor that makes 15 Nm of peak torque.
Honda Battery Pack To Be Made In India
As for performance, Honda claims a top speed of 30kmph on a flat road for Benly e I and I Pro whereas both these trims offer a range of 87km on a single charge. The more premium Benly e II and II Pro, receive a stronger top speed of 60kmph on a flat road while range drops to 43km on a single charge.
A hill climb of up to 12 degrees incline is possible with a maximum cargo of 30kg for Benly e I and I Pro. For Benly e II and II Pro, the same incline can be overcome with a peak cargo load of 60kg. The higher variants are even offered with a reverse assist feature. More

    Honda CB300R BS6, CB350 Anniversary Edition Launch On 4th Dec – IBW 2021

Image – Technical DocksHonda India is getting ready to launch two new motorcycles at the 2021 India Bike Week – CB300R BS6 and CB350 Anniversary Edition
Last year, post the implementation of BS6 emission norms in India, Honda had discontinued the CB300R from their company lineup. Though there were rumours that the motorcycle was all set to be relaunched in BS6 avatar, it never materialized. Many customers continued their wait with bated breath.
    Honda CB300R BS6 Launch At IBW 2021
After months of waiting, finally there is good news for CB300R fans. The motorcycle is all set to be launched in India on 4th Dec at the India Bike Week 2021. The event will take place in Aamby Valley near Lonavala in Maharashtra. Along with the CB300R, Honda will also launch special edition of the CB350, which has recently completed 1st year of sales in the country.
Honda could use an updated version of the earlier 286cc liquid cooled, single cylinder engine. In its BS4 format, the engine was capable of generating 30 bhp of max power at 8,000 rpm and 27.4 Nm of max torque at 6,500 rpm.
It is mated to a 6-speed transmission. Power and torque output of BS6 engine could be around the same range. Honda CB300R BS6 will come with disk brakes at both ends. Dual-channel ABS will be offered as standard.
India Bike Week 2021 Official Schedule Day 1
    Honda CB300R in India
As may be recalled, Honda CB300R was sold out in just a few months of its launch in 2019. In its BS4 format, the bike was imported as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) product. Only a limited number of units were available for sale. It was offered at a starting price of Rs 2.41 lakh and sold via Honda’s Wing World outlets.
Some reports had indicated that Honda could begin producing CB300R locally. But the bike was removed from the company’s website, as it was not updated to comply with BS6 emission norms. From that time, there’s no official word from Honda about CB300R.
Yadvinder had said that Honda will begin local production of several of its existing motorcycles that are listed under premium category. This included one product under 500cc. At that time, the only product that matched the criteria was CB300R. Today, Honda has the CB350 and the CB350RS motorcycles which are locally manufactured. Not only that, these are also exported to other countries, including Japan.
    Honda CB300R
    Honda CB300R BS6 – Dealer dispatch
Dealer dispatches of CB300R BS6 have already started, as per SIAM sales data. Over the last few months, Honda has dispatched a few units to their dealers across India. Though the motorcycles have not been spied yet. But that has been the case with Honda motorcycles. Honda is one of the few manufacturers who’s products are hardly spotted ahead of launch or debut.
Earlier also, development of CB350 was kept tightly under wraps till the launch date. It was quite like a covert mission. Honda could be applying the same strategy for CB300R BS6 and the CB350 Anniversary Edition. Even now, the announcement about the launch has come from IBW organizers, and not Honda India.
CB300R launch may be a pleasant surprise for fans. It may also be a strategy to catch rivals off guard. Considering that CB300R BS6 is locally produced, Honda could now offer the bike at a competitive price point. It could give tough competition to the likes of Bajaj Dominar, KTM 390 Duke and TVS Apache RR310. More

Honda 2W Sales Nov 2021 – Activa, CB Shine, CB350, Dio, Grazia

New Honda ActivaHonda 2Wheelers sees domestic sales fall by about 38 percent in November 2021; exports growth reported
In November 2021, Honda 2W reported domestic sales decline at 37.92 percent. Sales fell to 2,56,170 units, down from 4,12,641 units. Domestic sales accounted for 91.36 percent of total sales for the month. Leading two wheelers from Honda include their best seller Activa range, Dio, Grazia, CB Shine, Livo, Dream, Unicorn, CB350, etc.
While domestic sales fell by almost 38 percent, at 1,56,471 volume loss, exports gained in momentum. Growth is reported at 17.73 percent. Exports rose to 24,211 units, up from 20,565 units at volume growth of 3,646 units.
    Honda 2W Sales Nov 2021
Total sales is down at 2,80,381 units. YoY sales fell from 4,33,206 units at 35.28 percent decline. Volume loss stood at 1,52,825 units. Honda two wheeler sales was in fact less than what TVS sold last month. And Bajaj two wheeler total sales was even more than TVS.
MoM sales was reported at decline on all fronts in the range of 35 percent. Domestic sales fell from 3,94,623 units at volume loss of 1,38,453 units. Exports fell from 37,584 units at volume loss of 13,373 units. Total sales fell from 4,32,207 units at volume loss of 1,51,826 units.
Honda Two Wheeler Sales Nov 2021
    Chip shortage challenge
Honda 2Wheelers enjoys a dominant position in India, largely on the back of its Activa scooter. The company is now expanding its scope in the bigger segment. In a year since launch, Honda reported sales at 30k units for its 350cc offerings, Honda CB350 and CB350RS. This is a segment, Honda is keen on, and to reach a wider audience, HMSI is now expanding its BigWing retail store network at quick pace.
Honda sells its 350cc units from BigWing stores. Apart from the newer entry level motorcycles, BigWing dealerships are charged with CB500X, CBR650R, CB650R, CBR1000RR-R Fireblade, and Fireblade SP, Africa Twin Adventure Sports and Gold Wing Tour. But none of the big movers were able to speed up the BigWing network expansion as quickly as the 350cc offerings.
Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director, Sales & Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. said, “Adding to the supply side challenge of chip shortage in the recent past and a subdued festive season, low market sentiments have continued to prevail in the month of November. However, we are expecting some revival in market sentiments by last quarter of FY’21-22.”
    Auto industry disruptions
It goes without saying that it’s now been 20 months that the auto industry has been grappling with uncertainty and disruptions. Following two waves of Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, the global auto industry had to put up with a chips shortage. As such, it’s easy to see why companies are reporting lower dispatches.
Production output is being continually revised to cope with reduced chips procurement. While demand is stable, and production is optimised as best as possible, production output is currently disrupted. More
