New Hero Xtreme 160R Dispatches Begin – Photos From Dealer Stockyard
Much awaited Hero Xtreme 160R entry level sports motorcycle is priced from Rs 1 lakh
Launched in June, all-new Hero Xtreme 160R has started reaching dealerships. The original plan was to launch the bike in April 2020, but it was delayed due to obvious reasons. New Xtreme 160R was unveiled earlier this year at Hero World 2020 event.
All-new Xtreme 160R borrows several of its characteristics from Hero 1.R concept, which was showcased at 2019 EICMA in Milan, Italy. As far as looks are concerned, the bike gets top marks for its bold, sporty design.
Some key features include muscular body profile, aggressive forward leaning riding stance, full LED headlamp in a snazzy design, first-in-category all-LED winkers, integrated pillion grab rail, compact sporty exhaust, and edgy LED tail lamp with unique ‘H’ design. Colour options include Sports Red, Pearl Silver White and Vibrant Blue.

Engine and performance
Powering Xtreme 160R is a 163 cc BS6 air-cooled engine that can deliver 15 bhp of max power at 8500 rpm and 14 Nm of max torque at 6500 rpm. Engine is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. The bike promises superior performance, as power to weight ratio is improved with the use of lightweight allows.
The kerb weight of single disc and double disc variants are 138.5 kg and 139.5 kg, respectively. Capable of reaching 0 to 60 kmph in just 4.7 seconds, the bike offers best-in-class acceleration. Fuel tank capacity is 12 litres.
Xtreme 160R utilizes a tubular diamond frame riding on telescopic 37mm front forks and 7-step rider-adjustable monoshock rear suspension. Braking duties are performed by 276 mm petal disc at the front and 220 mm units at the rear. Single-channel ABS is offered as standard. The drum variant has 130 mm drum brake at the rear. The bike rides on 100/80-17 front tubeless tyres and 130/70 -R17 radial rear tyres (tubeless). Ground clearance stands at 167 mm.

All-new Xtreme 160R has a number of hi-tech features such as sensor-based programmed fuel injection (FI). A total of 14 sensors work concurrently to deliver optimal engine performance. Other tech upgrades include inverted LCD console, side-stand engine cut-off system, and hazard lights.
Pricing
All-new Hero Xtreme 160R is competitively priced, quite close to that of its rivals. The rear drum brake variant costs Rs 99,950, whereas the double disc variant is priced at Rs 1,03,500. In comparison, TVS Apache RTR 160 is priced in the range of Rs 86,846 – Rs 93,539. Bajaj Pulsar NS160 is available in the price range of Rs 1.05 lakh to Rs 1.09 lakh. Other rivals include Yamaha FZ FI (Rs 98,680 – Rs 1.06 lakh) and Suzuki Gixxer (Rs 82,607 – Rs 1.19 lakh).
Considering its design and features, Hero MotoCorp appears to have done a good job with the all-new Xtreme 160R. Whether or not it clicks with the target audience will be revealed in the coming months. More
