Most of Hero MotoCorp sales come from budget offerings led by Splendor and the likes.But when it comes to premium offerings like Xtreme 160R and XPulse series, they don’t generate as many sales. But 160 cc segment is currently heating up again with the launch of Bajaj Pulsar N160 and it gets most of the good stuff from Pulsar N250. We also have the TVS Apache 160 4V which is currently the benchmark.Hero had launched its Xtreme 160R in this segment hoping to capture some of the market shares. But with the launch of Pulsar N160, Hero had to do something to keep its 160 cc offering competitive and hence they have given it a slight update for 2022 model year.2022 Hero Xtreme 160R LaunchedFor 2022 model year, Hero has slightly updated its potent Xtreme 160R. The upgrade is in the form of a gear position indicator on the LCD instrument cluster. Xtreme 160R gets a negative LCD panel displaying information like speedometer, tachometer, dual trip meter, clock and some more features. With enhanced aesthetics, Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth Edition could compete better with rivals such as Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Honda X-Blade. Launch of new Xtreme 160R Stealth variant is in line with the company’s strategy to continually refresh its portfolio.
Earlier this month, the company had launched Xpulse 200 4V (4-valve engine), Pleasure Plus Xtec (improved styling and features), and Maestro Edge 125 (with Hero Connect system). It is priced from Rs 1,16,600, ex-sh. Stealth Edition brings several additional first-in-segment features such as integrated USB charger and LCD brightness adjustment. It also gets a new gear indicator feature on the speedometer.

Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth key updates
It is likely that Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth will get a new dark shade in matte finish. The primary objective will be to enhance the bike’s dominating road presence. Front fascia could be slightly tweaked to achieve that look. For a sportier feel, the bike will get graphics in contrasting shade. The wheel rims will have strips in contrasting shade. There could be other similar highlights on the headlamp cowl, engine, frame and rear tail section.
Dark shade for Xtreme 160R will definitely improve the bike’s sporty profile. In its current form, the bike is offered in three dual-tone colour options. These are Sports Red (black and red combo), Pearl Silver White (black and white), and Vibrant Blue (black and blue). The bike is also available in 100 Million Limited Edition. This utilizes a combo of white and red on the front cowl, fuel tank and tail section.

Xtreme 160R customers can opt for Hero Connect that offers a range of connectivity features across vehicle safety and user safety. Hero Connect is available as an option for Rs 4,999. Other key features of Xtreme 160R include hazard lights, auto sail technology, and side stand engine cut-off.
Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth will be powered by the same 163 cc, air cooled, single cylinder, OHC engine. It is capable of generating 15 bhp of max power at 8500 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh transmission. The bike offers best-in-class acceleration, with 0-60 kmph achieved in just 4.7 seconds. It weighs 138.5 kg with single disc and can carry 12 litres of fuel.

Hero Xtreme 160R 100 Million Edition
Hero MotoCorp’s 100 million edition lineup will feature six models including Maestro, Destini, Splendor, Passion Pro, Glamor and Xtreme 160R

A few weeks ago, Hero MotoCorp celebrated a unique achievement of 100 million cumulative production units across India ever since its inception. It became the only two-wheeler manufacturer in the country to achieve this feat. To mark this momentous occasion, Hero announced that it will be launching special edition models of some of its two-wheelers.
Earlier, we had covered the 100 Million Edition model of Splendor and the cosmetics differences from its standard counterpart. Now, the company has launched a new 100 Million Limited Edition model of its premium motorcycle Xtreme 160R. The bike comes with a new paint scheme and body graphics.
Updated Styling
The changes in the special edition model are limited to cosmetic updates only as it is identical to the regular model in every other respect. It sports a new livery with a dual-tone colour scheme flourishing red and white. While the front half of the bike is dominated by red colour, the latter half is painted in white.

Latter half of the fuel tank and part of the rear fender is sprayed with white as the base colour and have red graphics with 160R decals. The manufacturer has also added a ‘100 Million Limited Edition’ logo/badge on the fuel tank to make the motorcycle look more attractive. The mechanical components such as engine-gearbox assemble, kick start, footpegs, alloy wheels and part of the rear fender have been covered in black accentuating its sportiness.
Features on offer
The bike gets the same set of features as the regular model including an LED headlamp, LED indicators, dual-tone fuel tank, minimal cowls, smoked-out LED taillamp with ‘H’ signature and a heavily contoured single-piece saddle which are exactly the same as the regular Xtreme 160R.
The special edition model continues to feature creature comforts such as a fully digital inverted LCD instrument console, hazard lights and side stand engine cut-off. Price of this limited edition Xtreme 160R is Rs 1,08,750, ex-sh. In comparison, Xtreme 160R single disc costs 1,03,900 and double disc costs 1,06,950. This makes the special edition about Rs 2k more expensive than the dual disc variant.

Mechanical Specs
Even mechanically, this special edition model is identical to the regular model. It is powered by the same 163cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that kicks out 15 bhp against 14 Nm of peak torque. It is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.
New Xtreme 160R is capable of sprinting from 0 to 60 kmph in just 4.7 seconds and has a kerb weight of 139.5 kg. It rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped by 100/80 and 130/70 sections of rubber at front and rear respectively.
