A popular choice for thrill-seekers, Hero Xpulse 200 4V is among the most affordable adventure-ready bikes in the country. Around two months after its launch, bookings were closed after the first batch was sold out. Hero MotoCorp had said that it will be focusing on deliveries before taking bookings for the next batch. For the first batch, the company had a targeted delivery timeline of 45 days.
Hero Xpulse 200 4V bookings reopen
Those who missed out earlier can book their Xpulse 200 4V at Hero’s eSHOP. They will need to make an advance payment of Rs 10k. If the demand is high, the company will be taking a limited number of bookings like last time. Along with reopening bookings, price of the bike has been increased by Rs 2k. Ex-showroom starting price of Hero Xpulse 200 4V in Delhi is now Rs 1.30 lakh.
No new updates have been introduced for Xpulse 200 4V with this latest price hike. The decision is likely to be based on increase in production costs. Last year in December, Hero MotoCorp had announced a price hike for most of its two-wheelers.
The new prices were to become applicable from January 4, 2022. Prices were to be raised up to Rs 2k and it varied based on the model and variant. In January 2022, various other two-wheeler manufacturers have announced price hikes. The list includes Royal Enfield, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Ather.

Hero Xpulse 200 4V engine and specs
Xpulse 200 4V variant comes with a 4-valve engine, as compared to 2-valve, OHC set-up in use with standard Xpulse 200. A 4-valve setup offers multiple benefits including improved performance. It improves air flow to the engine, which in turn ensures efficient fuel combustion. While power is increased, a 4-valve setup also reduces emissions.
In case of Hero Xpulse 200 4V, power and torque have been increased by 6% and 5%, respectively. Moreover, power delivery has witnessed tangible improvements in mid and top range. Vibrations have been reduced, which is applicable even when the bike hits top speeds.
Powering Hero Xpulse 200 4V is a 199.6 cc, oil cooled motor. It churns out 19.1 ps of max power at 8,500 rpm and 17.35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. In comparison, standard Xpulse 200 delivers 17.8 ps and 16.45 Nm.
Xpulse 200 4V has a diamond type frame with telescopic front forks and monoshock rear suspension. The bike has 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels. Braking duties are performed by 276 mm and 220 mm petal discs at front and rear, respectively.
While Hero MotoCorp will continue to focus on petrol-powered two-wheelers, it is expected to take the first steps in EV space soon. Hero MotoCorp’s first ever electric scooter is likely to be launched this year. It has been developed in collaboration with Taiwan-based Gogoro. The company is also eying other opportunities, which is evident in the recent investment of Rs 420 crore in Ather Energy. More

In line with its vision of “Be the Future of Mobility”, the company has announced fresh investments in Ather Energy.
The board of Hero MotoCorp has approved a new investment of up to Rs. 420 crore in the Bengaluru-based EV startup in one or more tranches. Hero MotoCorp Investments in Ather Energy
Post this fresh investment, shareholding will increase and exact shareholding will be determined upon completion of the capital raise round by Ather. This is the fifth time Hero MotoCorp is investing in Ather. Hero MotoCorp first invested in Ather back in 2016 when it became a strategic partner.
Earlier in July 2020, Hero MotoCorp invested Rs 84 crore to raise its stake in the EV startup. The company has also invested $12 million (Rs 89 crore) as a part of the Series D round in Ather Energy.
Ather Energy is backed by Hero MotoCorp
Hero was one of the early investors in Ather Energy and has continued to expand its association over the years. The company is also exploring collaborations with Ather in various other spheres such as technology, charging infrastructure and sourcing.
    Upcoming E-scooter from Hero MotoCorp
Although Hero hasn’t officially set into the EV space by itself, it has formed strategic alliances with external EV manufacturers like Ather Energy and Gogoro. The company is gearing up to unveil its first electric vehicle in March this year. The vehicle is being developed at its R&D set-up – the Center of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur and the Tech Center Germany (TGG) near Munich in Germany.

Hero Electric Vs Hero MotoCorp In Court – Over Use Of Brand HERO

Image for referenceAs per legal agreement, Vijay and Naveen Munjal (father-son duo) were granted exclusive rights to use ‘Hero’ brand for their electric vehicles
Around a decade back, the extended Munjal families parted ways and were given their respective ownership of businesses. Vijay and Naveen Munjal got ownership of Hero Electric whereas Pawan Munjal continued with Hero MotoCorp. As per claims, Vijay and Naveen Munjal have the rights to use ‘Hero’ brand to manufacture and sell electric vehicles in domestic as well as international markets.
Hero Electric approaches Delhi High court
Just a few years back, there didn’t appear to be any friction between the two Munjal families. However, things may have changed dramatically in recent times with growing interest in electric two-wheelers. With clear indications of things moving in favour of an all-electric ecosystem, Hero Electric is taking proactive steps to protect its turf.
Hero Electric has approached Delhi High Court to prevent Hero MotoCorp from using the Hero brand name for its upcoming electric two-wheelers. This appears to be a pre-emptive move, as Hero MotoCorp has not indicated any plans to use the Hero nameplate for its upcoming electric two-wheelers. At least nothing has been revealed in public domain. However, as stakes are high, the fight over ‘Hero’ brand may intensify in future.
    Hero Electric Vs Hero MotoCorp
While Hero MotoCorp is currently the largest two-wheeler manufacturer, Hero Electric has made significant gains. The latter currently leads in electric two-wheeler sales. One of Hero Electric’s USP is affordable pricing, which has helped boost sales. Moreover, Hero Electric has the first-mover advantage in electric two-wheeler segment.
    Hero Electric Scooter Dealer
Ten years earlier, it may have been difficult to predict the dramatic shift to electric two-wheelers. As of now, one can easily visualize that the future will be an all-electric ecosystem. This may be one of the core reasons that may have revived the fight for use of ‘Hero’ brand.
From Hero Electric’s perspective, they have the rights to use the brand for their electric vehicles. In case of Hero MotoCorp, it can be argued that the shift to electric is something beyond their control. Moreover, it is happening at national and global level and is linked to managing climate change. It would be unfair if they are not allowed to use the Hero brand for their upcoming electric two-wheelers.
While Hero Electric has legal rights, the dramatic shift in industry ecosystem may warrant a review of the earlier agreement. It remains to be seen how the court takes a decision in this case. Both parties have refused to comment, as the matter is currently sub-judice.
Hero MotoCorp has filed trademark for the name VIDA Electric
Earlier, it was reported that Hero MotoCorp could launch its electric scooters and motorcycles under VIDA brand. The company is expected to launch its first electric two-wheeler in March 2022. Hero MotoCorp has partnered with Taiwan-based Gogoro to manufacture its electric two-wheelers. More
