Xpulse series consists of the rather brilliant XPulse 200 off-roader and XPulse 200T tourer.Soon, Hero will have much more capable flagships in the form of a 300cc to 400cc+ Xpulse off-roader, Xpulse tourer and an Xtreme sports bike/sports tourer. Until then, XPulse 200 series is the flagship. Hero is now gearing up to launch the New Xpulse 200T 4V to give it a refresh. This is that shot in the veins that Xpulse 200T needed as it was overshadowed by its off-roading sibling.New Xpulse 200T 4V WalkaroundLooks like Hero has given a thorough facelift for New Xpulse 200T 4V. Changes are not pretty significant. Yet, they make their presence known. Right off the bat, we can spot a new fly-screen that first made its debut on the Xpulse 200T Scrambler concept back in 2018. Headlamp assembly is still the same, but with this new fly-screen, it looks much sharper. No, sir/ma’am. This is much more profound than that. This update will bring in the new 4V head that its off-road sibling received earlier this year. This will ensure better breathability and since the new valves are lighter, they’ll rev higher and see less wear and tear in the long run.Earlier, 200T used to make 17.83 bhp at 8,500 RPM and 16.15 Nm of torque at 6,500 RPM from its 199.6cc air/oil cooled engine. 200 4V off-roader makes 18.8 bhp at 8,500 RPM and 17.35 Nm at 6,500 RPM. These figures are likely to be translated to New Xpulse 200T 4V. Its oil-cooling radiator is enlarged too, just like Xpulse off-roader.New XPulse 200T 4VWith the off-roader, 4V head costs Rs. 10,000 more. 200T currently costs Rs. 1.24 lakh (ex-sh) and with this update, we can see pricing go till Rs. 1.34 (ex-sh). They are Vida V1 Plus and Vida V1 Pro. Hero is aiming to create a niche for itself by launching a host of other add-ons like charging infra and Vida services, for smoother ownership. Hero MotoCorp also promises to launch nationwide charging stations as well.Hero Vida V1 Vs RivalsBoth Hero Vida V1 electric scooters get front telescopic forks and a single-sided mono-shock at the rear. Ola S1 and S1 Pro both get single-sided front forks as well. Even though there have been some reported failures of Ola’s single-sided front fork, it does make the right side very pretty and uncluttered.Rest of the rivals get dual front telescopic forks as well. Except for iQube, every electric scooter in this comparo gets a mono-shock unit. Hero didn’t mention the disc brake sizes. Both Vida V1 Pro and V1 Plus get disc brake at the front and rear drum brake. Hero MotoCorp has offered 12″ alloy wheel sizes and tyre sizes are not yet revealed.Because of its banana-shaped batteries neatly housed into its floorboard, Ola S1 and S1 Pro offer 36L which is the highest in this comparo. They are followed by 32L of top-spec iQube, Simple One with 30L, Hero Vida V1 Pro and V1 Plus with 26L, 450X with 22L and lastly, Chetak with 20L.Hero Vida V1 Vs Rivals – SpecsBoth Ola scooters and Simple One boast 8,500W peak power. While both Hero scooters’ peak power is 6,000W, followed by 5,400W of 450X, 4,400W of iQube and lastly, 4,080W of Chetak. In terms of continuous power, Ola scooters take the cake again with 5,500W, followed by 3,900W of Hero Vida V1 scooters. iQube is the only one with a hub motor as Vida V1 gets a swingarm-mounted motor.Specs & FeaturesHero hasn’t mentioned torque figures either. So, Simple Energy is still the torque champ with 72 Nm, followed by Ola S1 Pro and S1 with 58 Nm. When it comes to range extracted from a single charge, Simple One is unrivaled with a claimed range of 236-300 km! S1 Pro is next with 181km, followed by Vida V1 Pro with 165 km, 450X with 146 km, Vida V1 Plus with 143 km, S1 with 141 km, top-spec iQube with 140 km and lastly, we have Chetak with 85-95 km (all range figures are claimed by their respective manufacturer).With its secondary removable battery, Simple One boasts a total of 4.8 kWh battery. Top-spec variant of iQube stands 2nd with a 4.56 kWh battery, followed by a 3.97 kWh battery of S1 Pro, a 3.94 kWh battery of Vida V1 Pro, a 3.7 kWh battery of 450X, a 3.44 kWh battery of Vida V1 Plus and lastly, we have Chetak and S1 with 3 kWh worth of juice. This is a double-digit growth of 14.42% over the corresponding period of the previous fiscal (FY ’22) when the Company had sold more than 24 lakh units.The Indian motorcycle giant pushed out 519,980 units of motorcycles and scooters in September 2022. Sequentially, this translates into a growth of 12.4% MoM over the month of August 2022, when Hero had only sold 462,608 units. However, when we take the sales numbers that Hero crunched in September 2021, we see a slight drop in sales.Total sales in September 2021 were 5,30,346 units with a volume loss of 10,366 units, Hero registered a 1.95% YoY drop and 12.40% MoM growth. Motorcycle sales stood at 4,80,237 units this month with a 1.88% drop in sales YoY with a 9,180 units volume drop and a 6.54% growth MoM. But, motorcycle sales account for 92.36% of total Hero sales.Hero MotoCorp Sales Sep 2022Hero scooters saw 39,743 units sold in total with a 2.90% drop in sales YoY. However, scooters register a 234.88% growth MoM which is staggering. Top selling Hero scooters include Maestro, Destini. Hero’s domestic sales thrived while exports dragged it down. Domestically, Hero registered 0.44% growth YoY and 17.85% growth MoM. But with only 12,290 units shipped in total, Hero exports hit the ground with a 50.61% YoY drop and a 61.36% MoM drop.Hero Sales – September 2022Motorcycles are Hero’s forte with a 92.36% share in the company’s total sales. Top selling motorcycles from Hero include Splendor, HF Deluxe, Passion, Xtreme, Xpulse, etc. While scooters only enjoy 7.64% of the total sales. It can also be seen that Hero is bleeding red when it comes to exports. Hero’s exports only account for 2.36% of total volume pushed. While domestic sales account for 97.64% of total volume pushed out of their factories.Hero MotoCorp YTD salesWhen it comes to Year To Date analysis, Hero fares relatively better. With 28,18,361 units pushed out, Hero registered a 14.42% YoY growth with 3,55,231 units gained YoY. Out of this figure, 26,38,618 units are motorcycles which gained 3,44,877 units YoY and registered 15.04% growth YoY. Scooters account for 1,79,743 units and register 6.11% growth YoY with 10,354 units volume growth.Hero’s sales stand strong domestically at 27,17,280 units YTD with 4,10,766 units of volume gain and register a 17.81% YoY growth. But, as we said earlier, Hero loses precious ground when it comes to exports. With just 1,01,081 units shipped YTD. Hero lost 35.46% of sales YoY.The company is geared up to launch its first electric vehicle, VIDA – Powered by Hero on October 7, 2022. This move by Hero was much needed as the company needed to establish its roots strongly in the ever-growing 2W EV segment.
