    Xiaomi YU7 Debuts As Tesla Model Y Rival – 835 KM Range, 690 PS, 0-100 In 3.23s

New Xiaomi YU7 DebutsXiaomi’s second EV for the Chinese market and its first electric SUV, the YU7 is scheduled to go on sale later this year in July
A relatively new entrant in the EV space, Xiaomi has already tasted success with the SU7 sedan that has registered cumulative sales of more than 2.58 lakh units. Expanding its portfolio, Xiaomi has now introduced its first electric SUV – the YU7. On paper, Xiaomi YU7 seems to be ahead of Tesla Model Y in many aspects. Let’s check out the details.
Xiaomi YU7 Debuts – Performance, range, specs
Xiaomi is offering the YU7 electric SUV in three variants – Standard, Pro and Max. The Standard variant is available in RWD configuration and is equipped with a 96.3 kWh LFP battery. It offers a range of 835 km, the highest among the three variants. The single rear motor generates 320 PS. Xiaomi YU7 Pro variant has AWD configuration and utilizes the same battery pack as the standard variant. Combined power output with the dual motors is 496 PS. The Pro variant has a range of 770 km.
    New Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV
Top-spec YU7 Max (AWD) variant utilizes a 101.7 kWh NCM battery. Combined power output with the dual motors is a massive 690 PS. The Max variant has a range of 760 km and top speed of 253 km/h. It can achieve 0 to 100 km/h in just around 3.23 seconds. These numbers are better in comparison to Tesla Model Y.
For context, Tesla Model Y’s top Performance variant generates 510 PS. It has a top speed of 250 km/h and takes 3.7 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. Xiaomi YU7 Max’s range of 719 km is available with the Model Y Long Range AWD variant. This variant is equipped with a 78-kWh battery pack. Xiaomi YU7 leads in charging time as well, with the capability to add a range of 620 km in just 15 minutes. In comparison, Tesla Model Y can load around 260 km in 15 minutes.
    New Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV
Xiaomi YU7 – Sporty styling, advanced tech features
In addition to its superior performance, Xiaomi YU7 also has a captivating profile. Dimensionally, the SUV is 4,999 mm long, 1,996 mm wide, 1,600 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 3,000 mm. Some of the key highlights include signature waterdrop headlights, curvy body panelling, a drag coefficient of Cd 0.245, flush door handles, sporty alloy wheels, a tapering roofline and connected tail lamps.
Inside, the Xiaomi YU7 is loaded with a comprehensive range of premium features. Some of the key highlights include Nappa leather upholstery, a 16.1-inch central touchscreen and a 1.1-meter ultra-wide projected display on the lower windshield. The SUV also has a dedicated remote control panel that allows seamless access to entertainment, car control functions and entertainment management. Interiors are exceptionally spacious, offering ample headroom and legroom even for passengers more than 6 feet tall.
    New Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV
Xiaomi YU7 has advanced safety features, with the ADAS setup powered by 1 LiDAR module, 1 4D millimetre-wave radar, 12 ultrasonic sensors and 11 high-definition cameras. The SUV utilizes advanced electronics such as the new-gen NVIDIA DRIVE AGX Thor™ in-vehicle computing platform.
Increased competition for Tesla Model Y
Experts predict that Xiaomi YU7 can present challenges for Tesla Model Y in the Chinese market. YU7 has potential to be just as successful as the SU7 sedan. As of now, Tesla Model Y is one of the top-selling SUVs in China, ahead of even some ICE-powered SUVs.
    New Xiaomi YU7 Electric SUV
Tesla has an edge across other global markets since Xiaomi currently does not sell EVs outside China. But that can change in the future, as Xiaomi has plans to target overseas markets from 2027 onwards. Even with China as the sole market, Xiaomi is currently ranked 8th globally in BEV sales, commanding a market share of 2.8%. This number is likely to improve after the YU7 SUV is launched in July. New MG Electric SUV Design Patented – Tesla Model Y, Kia EV5 Rival

New MG Electric SUV Design PatentedMG Motor has been launching its electric offensive worldwide. The company has already emerged as a potent electric car manufacturer across multiple markets. Now, MG is working on big guns that will potentially rival high-volume electric SUVs like Tesla Model Y and BYD Sealion 7. Design patents of the same have leaked online. Let’s take a closer look.
New MG Electric SUV Design Patented
SAIC Motor, the parent company of MG Motor, has just filed a design patent of their upcoming electric SUV in Australia. Looking at these leaked design patents, it looks like an enlarged version of MG S5 SUV, but to rival larger vehicles like the Tesla Model Y and BYD’s Sealion 7, which is already launched in India.
New MG Electric SUV Design Patented
Where design is concerned, it looks a lot like the MG S5 SUV and could take S6 or S7 name, when launched. We have a sharp design with a large MG logo in the middle of its fascia. Sleek and striking headlights, LED DRL elements, bumper creases along with the contoured closed-off grille look rather nice.
At the sides, we get conventional door handles, large alloy wheels, sophisticated silhouette with large window area and large rear doors. At the rear, we get connected wrap-around LED tail lights, extended roof spoiler, sporty rear bumper along with rear windshield wiper. There are stylish faux roof rails too, suggesting it will be a premium product.
New MG Electric SUV Design Patented
    What to expect?
Notably, this new MG electric SUV is likely to be a ground-up MG vehicle and not a rebadged vehicle from its sister brands within SAIC Motor’s umbrella. It is said to be underpinned by the same MSP (Modular Scalable Platform) electric car architecture with MG 4, Cyberster sports car and others.
Interior details and powertrain details of this upcoming MG electric SUV are not known yet. When launched, it is expected to be a mid-size SUV rivalling the likes of Tesla Model Y, BYD Sealion 7, Kia EV5 and Volkswagen ID4. There are no official announcements for a launch in India. However, a mid-size premium electric SUV from MG to rival the upcoming Tesla Model Y and recently BYD Sealion 7 does not seem like a bad idea.

MG Windsor Pro Gets New Base Variant – Price Rs 17.25 L

    New Windsor Exclusive Pro
After launching the Windsor Essence Pro earlier this month, JSW MG Motor India continues their product offensive with the launch of a more affordable Pro variant. This will pack the same 52.9 kWh battery pack with a 449 km range but is based on the mid-spec Exclusive trim level, attracting a lower price tag.
    MG Windsor Exclusive Pro
When MG launched Windsor Pro, it was based on the top-spec Essence trim. Introductory price was Rs 17.5 lakh (Ex-sh) for the first 8,000 bookings. These 8,000 bookings took place well within 24 hours and then MG ended the introductory price, offering MG Windsor Essence Pro for Rs 18.1 lakh (Ex-sh) or Rs 13.09 lakh (Ex-sh) + Rs 4.5 per km BaaS pricing.
    New Windsor Exclusive Pro
Now, MG has launched Windsor Exclusive Pro at Rs 17.25 lakh (Ex-sh) or Rs 12.24 lakh (Ex-sh) + Rs 4.5 per km BaaS pricing. Exclusive Pro is based on the mid-spec Exclusive trim, which is positioned above Excite and below Essence. Deliveries for Exclusive Pro start from first week of June.
Windsor Exclusive Pro is launched in three colours – Pearl White, Starry Black and Turquoise Green. It shares the same powertrain as Windsor Essence Pro launched earlier this month. This means Windsor Exclusive Pro will get the same 52.9 kWh battery pack as the top-spec variant that promises up to 449 km of range on a single charge.
    New Windsor Exclusive Pro
It continues to get the new design 18-inch alloy wheels that Essence Pro also gets along with flush door handles, LED lighting and more. On the inside, MG Windsor Exclusive Pro comes with dual tone Ivory and Black theme which lends an air of sophistication. Other notable features like the 15.6-inch Grand View infotainment screen is present too.
    Statement from MG Motor
Speaking on the launch, Rakesh Sen, Head of Sales, JSW MG Motor India, said, “The overwhelming response to the MG Windsor PRO is evident, with more than 8,000 bookings recorded within 24 hours of its launch. With the top variant now established, we are expanding accessibility of the MG Windsor by introducing the Exclusive PRO variant, offering a larger battery pack alongside premium comfort and convenience. This move is intended to bring the MG Windsor PRO closer to more customers.”

BYD e7 Electric Sedan Launch Price CNY 104K (Rs 12.33 L) – Range 520 Kms

BYD e7 Electric SedanOne of the world’s largest electric car manufacturers, BYD (Build Your Dreams), has just launched a capable and potent budget electric sedan in China. Called e7, this electric sedan was first teased in April 2025 and makes excellent sense to launch in India, positioning it below the Seal sedan. Let’s take a look at what’s what.
    BYD e7 Budget Electric Sedan
When it was first teased in April 2025, BYD e7 made quite some headlines as it is a budget-oriented offering. How budget is it? One might ask. To put numbers into perspective, BYD e7 starts from CNY 103,800 and goes till CNY 115,800. This roughly translates to Rs 12.33 lakh and Rs 13.74 lakh.
    BYD e7 Electric Sedan
For this money, one can only hope to buy a decently kitted out sub 4m SUV in India. In contrast, BYD e7 is a large electric sedan measuring 4,780 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, 1,515 mm in height and has a 2,820 mm long wheelbase. To put it into context, BYD e7 is just a wee bit smaller than Skoda Superb and Toyota Camry. In China, it is likely to be predominantly offered to taxi operators.
As of now, BYD e7 is only launched in Dragonland and is likely to be offered in a few ASEAN nations. We wish BYD launch e7 in India for a striking price tag. If BYD intends to bring it into India, they would have to lean towards the CBU route like they are doing with eMAX 7 and Atto 3, among others.
    BYD e7 Electric Sedan
    Design & Equipment
Where design is concerned, it still follows the Ocean design language that is also seen with Seal EV. Instead of being outlandish, BYD e7 is premium and packs in quite a lot of equipment. Wheels are smaller in size at 16-inches, there are LED headlights and tail lights, conventional door handles and other elements.
On the inside, we get a large 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment screen, a 5-inch fully digital instrument cluster, premium interiors, front and rear armrests, rear AC vents, multiple USB charging ports and more. The long wheelbase will allow rear occupants to have excellent (for the price) kneeroom as well.
    BYD e7 Electric Sedan
Powering this vehicle is a 48 kWh battery and a 57.6 kWh battery pack. The former is rated to deliver 450 km of range and the latter is rated to eke out 520 km of range on a single charge. Both variants get a sole single-motor option that drives front wheels only, packing 134 bhp and 180 Nm with a top speed of 150 km/h. More

There are new sets of alloy wheel designs that could be 19-inches in size like its ICE counterpart.
We can see .EV badge on front doors and Harrier.EV badge on its tailgate. The unit showcased at 2025 Auto Expo had a Silver finish on its side body claddings seen on wheel arches and side door moulding. The same was not seen on test mules that were spied post global debut and during the showcase at Pune plant.
    Tata Harrier EV
Tata Motors released a teaser in March 2025 showing some of the interior bits of upcoming Harrier EV. Here too, there are minimal to no changes when we bring Harrier ICE into the equation. These include dual 12.3-inch screens, dual-zone touch and toggle climate control panel, steering wheel with an illuminated logo and others.
    What to expect?
In the centre console, we can see the same rotary dial for Drive mode selection along with similar designs for electronic parking brakes and others. With Harrier EV, Tata is likely to offer new terrain response modes as it is expected to have much better off-road capabilities when compared to ICE Harrier.
Tata Harrier EV QWD, Rear Independent Suspension
Speaking of, Harrier EV is expected to feature a dual motor powertrain (one on each axle), which will allow for QWD (AWD) capabilities. The battery is expected to be a sizeable unit that promises around 500 km on a single charge. 2026 Toyota C-HR EV DebutsIntroduced in the USA in 2018, the previous-gen Toyota C-HR was equipped with a 2.0-litre petrol engine, generating 144 hp
While Toyota sells many hybrid cars in the USA, the only BEV option currently available is the bZ4X compact crossover SUV. To strengthen its BEV portfolio, Toyota has added the latest-gen C-HR that uses an all-electric powertrain. It is expected to be available at Toyota dealerships in the USA in 2026. Let’s check out the key features of the 2026 Toyota C-HR.
2026 Toyota C-HR EV Debuts – Performance, range
Toyota introduced the C-HR+ in Europe earlier this year in March with three powertrain options. The North American C-HR is essentially the same vehicle but gets only a single powertrain. 2026 Toyota C-HR in the US utilizes a 74.7 kW lithium-ion battery pack, offering a range of 467 km. With the dual-motor AWD setup, the combined power output is at 338 hp.
    2026 Toyota C-HR EV Debuts

    2026 Toyota C-HR EV Debuts
With a fast charger, the C-HR’s battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in just around 30 minutes. For user’s convenience, C-HR also supports charging from Level One and Level Two AC power sources. To suit local climate conditions, 2026 Toyota C-HR is also equipped with a battery pre-conditioning system. It essentially primes the battery for DC fast charging, as is necessary in colder climates. The battery pre-conditioning system can work in both manual and automatic mode.

2026 Toyota C-HR will be available in SE and XSE grades in the US. The SE trim has features such as 18-inch wheels with black alloy inserts, a powered tailgate and low-profile roof rails. MG Windsor Pro Vs Creta Electric VS Curvv EV – Specs, Performance Compared

MG Windsor Pro vs Creta Electric vs Curvv EVMG Windsor Pro was launched in India for an introductory price of Rs 17.49 lakh (Ex-sh) for the first 8,000 buyers. At this introductory price, Windsor Pro undercuts base prices of Hyundai Creta Electric and Tata Curvv EV, despite being a top-spec variant. These base variants of Creta Electric and Curvv EV come equipped with smaller batteries with less range and features.
Those 8,000 bookings came in under a day and the new Ex-sh price is Rs 18.1 lakh, which is still around the base prices of Creta Electric and Curvv EV. But in this comparison, we will compare Windsor Pro with absolute top variant of Creta Electric and Curvv EV across specs, powertrain and performance.
    MG Windsor Pro Vs Rivals
As seen in the charts, Windsor Pro appears as the most affordable top-spec variant in this comparison as it is priced at Rs 18.1 lakh (Ex-sh). Curvv EV tops out at Rs 22.24 lakh (Ex-sh) for Empowered+ A 55 #Dark variant and Creta Electric emerges as the most expensive at Rs 24.38 lakh (Ex-sh) for Excellence 51.4 LR DT. At these price points, let’s compare the specs.
Creta Electric is the longest in this comparison, but Windsor Pro is the widest, tallest and has the longest wheelbase. Curvv EV’s wheelbase is the smallest and similar to that of Nexon’s. There’s no frunk on offer with Windsor Pro because it has a small bonnet and most of its length is utilised on the inside. It is easily the most spacious in this trio by a landslide.
MG Windsor Pro vs Creta Electric vs Curvv EV – Dimensions
Curvv EV’s 500L boot is not bad, but Windsor Pro offers 579L and regular Windsor has an even larger boot. Curvv EV and Windsor Pro offer 18-inch alloy wheels and have 186 mm ground clearance, while Creta Electric has smaller 17-inch alloys, but a higher 200 mm ground clearance. All vehicles in this comparison offer 215-section tyres.
Windsor Pro is the only one that is a born electric vehicle, while other two are derived EVs. Tata Curvv EV is the only with with a crash safety rating (5 Star, BNCAP). All three vehicles get a single-motor FWD layout and they all get 6 airbags, 360-degree cameras and a sophisticated Level-2 ADAS suite.
    Powertrains Compared
Curvv EV has the biggest battery at 55 kWh and correspondingly, the highest range at 502 km (ARAI). Windsor Pro promises 449 km on a single charge from its 52.9 kWh pack and Creta Electric promises 473 km on a single charge from its 51.4 kWh battery pack. All of them come with variable regen modes to replenish the battery, but Creta Electric is the only one to get i-Pedal mode (one pedal driving), which is really handy.
MG Windsor Pro vs Creta Electric vs Curvv EV – Specs
Creta Electric is the most powerful in this trio as it packs 171 bhp and 255 Nm, promising a 0-100 km/h in 7.9s. Curvv EV is second and Windsor Pro is not designed to be hustled. Where AC charging is concerned, Creta Electric comes out on top again as it offers an 11 kW charger, while Windsor Pro gets 7.4 kW and Curvv EV 7.2 kW. Due to that, charging times are also lowest on Creta Electric. In DC charging, Curvv EV pulls ahead, but you need to find a compatible charger to match those speeds.
While all three vehicles have their Pros and Cons, it is obvious to see why Windsor Pro sells as much as it does. It is the most affordable of this bunch by a landslide and it is the only one with flexible BaaS (Battery as a Service) plans. It is also the most spacious and tech-savvy. Curvv EV’s strength is that it is stylish with its Coupe SUV design and Creta Electric’s strength is that it is a Creta, which is still quite unshakable. More

Maruti eVitara Patented In IndiaA truly global product, Maruti Suzuki eVitara will be manufactured in India and exported to more than 100 global markets including Europe and Japan
Maruti is readying its first fully electric car, the eVitara, for launch in September 2025. Ahead of that, the eVitara has been patented in India. Similar exercises are likely to be happening across the intended export markets as well. Let’s explore some of the key highlights of Maruti Suzuki eVitara.
Maruti eVitara – Styling and features
With its muscular profile, Maruti eVitara will be easily recognizable on the streets. It has distinctive lighting elements, a rugged bumper and a sculpted bonnet with prominent grooves. Side profile has polygonal wheel arches, thick body cladding, sporty alloy wheels and door moulding. While the front has traditional door handles, the rear units are mounted on the C-pillars. At the rear, eVitara has a raked windshield, connected tail lamps and a chunky bumper.
    Maruti eVitara Patented In India
Users will be able to access a comprehensive range of premium features with the eVitara. Some of the key highlights include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch multi-information display, fixed glass sunroof, premium sound system by Harman, multi-colour ambient lighting and wireless charger. eVitara also gets power adjustable driver seat, ventilated seats and customizable seat options.

    Maruti Suzuki eVitara India Debut
Battery pack options for Maruti eVitara include a 49-kWh and a 61-kWh unit. These will be Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) units, sourced from BYD. Variants with the larger battery pack are expected to deliver a range of around 500 km. Both 2WD and AWD (Suzuki AllGrip-e system) options will be available with the eVitara. The AWD variants will come with drive modes of Eco, Normal and Sport. There will be an additional Snow Mode as well for handling snow and other slippery surfaces.
Suzuki eVitara preview event in The Netherlands
eVitara preview event in the Netherlands
Europe will be among the key markets for the eVitara. With that in mind, Suzuki has started its promotional campaigns across the continent. In June, preview events for the eVitara will be conducted at four special locations in the Netherlands. Users will be able to explore the eVitara inside and out. However, Suzuki won’t be offering any test drives at these events.
Similar promotional events are expected to be organized in Japan as well. Made in India Maruti cars have emerged as popular options in Japan. For example, Fronx had registered cumulative bookings of around 9,000 units in Japan. This is 9 times more than the initial target set by Suzuki. India-made 5-door Jimny emerged an even more popular choice in Japan, with 50,000 bookings received in just 4 days. Bookings had to be paused, as the waiting period stretched to a staggering 3.5 years.
eVitara will be manufactured at Suzuki’s plant in Gujarat. Production is expected to commence soon. Around 70,000 units are planned to be manufactured in 2025, most of which will be meant for export markets. Allocation for the domestic market could be increased in the future based on demand and available production capacity. In India, the Maruti eVitara will be sold via the brand’s Nexa dealerships. More
