Tata Nexon EV 45 kWh Scores 5 Star Safety Rating – Bharat NCAP

Tata Nexon EV crash test – Bharat NCAP 2024Nexon EV is one of the landmark vehicles sold in India and is attributed to making EVs an attractive proposition rather than a drab solution. Nexon EV is also held in high regard where vehicular safety is concerned as it scored 5 Star ratings in Bharat NCAP testing. Now, the 5 Star crash safety rating is also extended to its 45 kWh battery variants. Let’s take a closer look.
Tata Nexon EV 45kWh Scored 5 Star
At the time when Indian automotive market was not all that familiar with the importance of crashworthiness, Tata Nexon broke the waters and emerged as the country’s first vehicle to score a 5 Star crash rating. Continuing the streak, the latest Nexon still has an impeccable 5 Star crash rating.
Tata Nexon EV crash test – Bharat NCAP 2024
Its electric counterpart, Nexon EV, has maintained its 5 Star crash safety rating too. However, these were reserved for the 30 kWh and 40.5 kWh battery pack versions. After the launch of Curvv EV, Tata Motors expanded Nexon EV portfolio to include 45 kWh version, which is now crash-tested by Bharat NCAP.
Nexon EV 45 kWh version scored 29.86 / 32 points in adult occupant protection tests and 44.95 / 49 points in child occupant protection tests. Bharat NCAP tested Empowered+ LR variant which came equipped with 6 airbags, 3-point seatbelts and seatbelt reminders for all seats, ISOFIX child seat mounts, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), TPMS and 360-degree camera as standard.

Nexon EV continues to be powered by a 30 kWh battery pack and 45 kWh battery pack options. The 40.5 kWh battery pack variants have been discontinued after 45 kWh battery pack was launched.

MG Cyber X Electric SUV Concept Debuts – 4.3m Long (Tata Sierra EV Rival?)

MG Cyber X SUVMG Motor has pulled the covers off the Cyber X SUV concept at the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show, previewing what could become the brand’s second product under its futuristic Cyber series after the Cyberster EV roadster. Designed with a youthful audience in mind, the Cyber X stands out with its bold, boxy proportions, pop-up headlights, and a distinct matte-black paint job – a strong nod to retro-futurism in electric mobility.
    Built for the Bold
Measuring around 4.3 meters in length, the Cyber X positions itself as a compact electric SUV, similar in size to the Land Rover Defender 90. But unlike traditional off-roaders, the Cyber X is envisioned more as a “city adventure toy”, prioritizing urban appeal and digital-first experiences over hardcore off-roading.
    MG Cyber X SUV
Built on a fully electric platform developed by MG’s parent company SAIC Motor, the Cyber X showcases a cell-to-body battery layout for improved efficiency and space. While MG has not disclosed powertrain or range specs yet, this concept marks a fresh direction in their design and electrification journey.
Jozef Kaban, SAIC’s global design chief, said the Cyber X is a statement of design diversity within the MG brand, intentionally contrasting the sleek Cyberster roadster. He added that the Cyber X is about “giving families an emotional car” and appealing to drivers who don’t want to compromise style for practicality.
    MG Cyber X SUV
    Compact But Capable
Design highlights include a high-mounted LED light bar, a wide, expressive grille, and a floating roof effect created by smoked A- and B-pillars. The pop-up headlamps, reminiscent of classic Ferraris and ’90s icons, are a deliberate throwback to restore character in modern car design. Other elements like dual-tone alloy wheels and privacy glass enhance its urban explorer persona.
    MG Cyber X SUV
Inside details remain under wraps, but MG confirmed collaboration with smartphone brand Oppo for cockpit and connectivity tech. The Cyber X is expected to feature a high level of digital integration, aligning with the tech-savvy ethos of the Cyber series.
Production Plans Yet to be Confirmed
Though still in concept stage, MG hinted that the Cyber X could transition to production quickly due to China’s fast development cycles. It would join MG’s growing global EV portfolio, which is set to include eight new models by 2026, including sedans and SUVs.
    MG Cyber X SUV
If launched in India, the MG Cyber X could go head-to-head with the upcoming Tata Sierra EV. Both models fall in the 4.3 to 4.4 meter size range and carry a retro-futuristic design approach, making them natural rivals in the lifestyle electric SUV segment. With MG already having a strong presence in India’s EV market, the Cyber X could become a compelling offering for those seeking an EV that blends bold design, modern tech, and family practicality. Tesla Model Y Facelift Spied Testing In India Ahead Of Launch

New Tesla Model Y Facelift (Juniper) Spied In IndiaTesla has accelerated its plans to launch its product portfolio in India. The company has signed a lease deal for its first showroom in Mumbai’s BKC and the company has applied for homologation of Model 3 and Model Y. Recent spy shots from X user Ashish Pol reveal a camouflaged test mule of Tesla Model Y facelift. Let’s take a closer look.
    Tesla Model Y Facelift Spied
Once known as the land of excessive taxes and tariffs, India is opening up its automotive markets to various non-Chinese brands. Indian Government is reducing taxes on American and European car imports. This makes India a favourable market for foreign brands and Tesla is no different to this strategy.
New Tesla Model Y Facelift (Juniper) Spied In India
In a first, we can see Tesla Model Y test mules trundling along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. It has to be noted that this is the facelifted version of Model Y that debuted earlier this year. This is a good sign from Tesla as it is bringing the latest and greatest and not trying to offload unsold stock of previous generation Model Y.
Codenamed Juniper, it looks a lot sleeker and more athletic than its predecessor, lending an aesthetic vibe, which could not be said about its predecessor. We can see a split headlight design with sleek connected LED DRLs on top and LED headlights below. Bonnet gets muscular creases, A-Pillars and C-Pillars are body coloured while B pillars are blackened.
    New Tesla Model Y Juniper
Black is also seen on its roof along with flush door handles. Tesla Model Y’s silhouette is function over form and hence it is not particularly aesthetic to look from the side. It has a coupe roofline effect prioritising low aerodynamic drag coefficient over aesthetic design. At the rear, Model Y facelift gets connected 3D LED tail lights and a sporty bumper.
Just like the revised Model 3, Tesla Model Y facelift spied in India also gets a minimalist cabin. This means almost no buttons and most of the car’s functions are controlled by the larger 15.4-inch infotainment screen. There’s no instrument cluster for driver, but rear passengers get an 8-inch display that supports arcade games and video streaming. Model Y gets Tesla Autopilot ADAS suite as well.
    New Tesla Model Y Juniper
    Specs & Powertrains
Where dimensions are concerned, new Tesla Model Y measures 4,790 mm in length, 1,981 mm in width, 1,623 mm in height and has a 168 mm ground clearance. It can seat up to 5 passengers and offers a total of 2,152L worth of cargo capacity when rear seats are folded. Alloy wheel sizes start from 19-inches and go till 20-inches.
Powering this electric crossover SUV, we have battery packs that can go up to 80 kWh in capacity, promising up to 526 km of range on a single charge. In dual-motor AWD configuration, new Tesla Model Y facelift can sprint to 96.5 km/h in 4.6 seconds. Fast charging is supported and it can accept up to 250 kW DC chargers. Launch might happen in the coming months via CBU route.

Mahindra XUV3XO EV Spied – Launch Nears

2025 Mahindra XUV3XO EV SpiedAfter the much-needed transition from XUV300 to XUV3XO, Mahindra has made significant advances in the sub 4m SUV segment. Now, Mahindra is poised to further enhance its appeal in the sub 4m SUV space with the launch of XUV3XO EV, which is the spiritual successor of XUV400 currently on sale in India. Let’s take a closer look.
    Mahindra XUV3XO EV Spied Testing
You must be wondering why this article revolves around sub 4m SUV segment while XUV400 has been a larger 4.2m vehicle. That is because Mahindra is shrinking its entry-level electric SUV in size and is making it a direct rival to Tata’s Nexon EV. This will also position it below BE 6 in company’s electric SUV lineup.
    2025 Mahindra XUV3XO EV Spied
The recent spy shots by automotive enthusiast Mayur Sinh Rana from Rajkot who spotted this test mule on Rajkot-Ahmedabad Highway. This test mule was fully camouflaged to conceal its identity. However, it looks almost identical to XUV3XO ICE version which was launched last year. Even the size of upcoming XUV3XO EV matches that of XUV3XO ICE.
The only real advantage of offering the larger 4.2m length (apart from more pleasing proportions) with XUV400 was boot space. Mahindra has tackled this issue when transitioning XUV300 to XUV3XO taking the boot space from 257L to up to 364L by offering a skinny space-saver spare wheel and loading beyond the rear seat backrest height.
    2025 Mahindra XUV3XO EV Spied
Now, the company can achieve better cost efficiency as all exterior and interior sheet metal panels and plastic trims are shared between ICE and EV models. Just like XUV400, XUV3XO EV’s charging port is on front left quarter panel. XUV3XO EV packs unique alloy wheel designs when compared to its ICE counterpart.
    Same design as XUV3XO ICE
All exterior lighting elements and features will be shared between ICE and EV models and the same is expected with interiors. Mahindra might introduce a few Blue or Copper highlights to signify its electric powertrain. Other than that, XUV3XO EV will feature the most premium cabin in sub 4m space with soft-touch plastics and more.
    2025 Mahindra XUV3XO EV Spied
Where features are concerned, we can expect the same 10.2-inch infotainment screen, 10.2-inch instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, panoramic sunroof, camera-based Level-2 ADAS, 360-degree cameras, powered driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM and more.
Powertrains-wise, XUV3XO EV is likely to retain its 34.5 kWh (375 km range) and 39.4 kWh (456 km range) battery pack options. The main highlight of XUV3XO will be its electric motor which offers around 150 PS of peak power and a staggering 310 Nm of peak torque for blistering acceleration. Now that XUV3XO EV is smaller, it could be lighter and the acceleration could be even better. Launch is likely around festive season. More

The company has priced Curvv EV Stealth Edition from Rs 22.24 lakh (Ex-sh) and sits at the top of Curvv EV’s variant lineup. Let’s take a closer look.
Tata Curvv EV Dark Edition Launch
News around Tata Curvv doesn’t seem to stop. Curvv has been among the latest additions to the C-Segment SUV space (Compact SUV). After making Curvv the official car for 2025 Season of Indian Premiere League (IPL), Tata Motors appointed Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal as this Coupe SUV’s brand ambassador.
    Tata Curvv EV Dark
After which, Tata launched Curvv Dark Edition starting from Rs 16.49 lakh (Ex-sh), which was a Rs 32,000 increment over the trim level it was based on. In contrast, Curvv EV Dark Edition has been priced from Rs 22.24 lakh (Ex-sh) and commands a price increment of Rs 25,000 over the trim it is based on.
Speaking of, Curvv EV Dark Edition is positioned on the fully loaded top-spec Empowered+ A trim level that gets all the bells and whistles. Curvv EV is Tata Motors’ second electric vehicle to get the Dark Edition treatment after Nexon EV. It has to be noted that Nexon EV also received Red Dark Edition, which Curvv has yet to receive.
    Tata Curvv EV Dark
    Black Magic
Where design is concerned, Curvv EV Dark Edition is a typical Dark Edition affair. It gets an all-black exterior along with #Dark badges on front fenders and it gets Dark Chrome elements on exteriors replacing regular shiny chrome. Wheels are blackened and there are no silver trims on offer on this model. Notably, EV badges continue to be Blue, like on non-Dark versions.
On the inside, Dark theme lends a sporty and stealthy look. We get Dark dashboard, door trim, centre console and other areas. Chrome highlights have been replaced with Dark Chrome, which looks nice. Leatherette seats and upholstery get Dark treatment too and we can see Dark badges on front seats. Unlike a few Black versions from rivals, Tata Curvv EV Dark Edition gets a Dark roof liner too.
    Tata Curvv EV Dark
There is only one feature addition, similar to Curvv Dark Edition. Which are rear window shades that buyers will surely appreciate. Features continue to be the same including an electrically operated tailgate, Level-2 ADAS, ambient lighting, powered driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, auto climate control, 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 10.2-inch instrument screen, panoramic sunroof and more.
Because Tata Motors Curvv EV Dark is positioned on Empowered+ A trim, it only comes equipped with the larger 55 kWh battery pack. Range promised is 502 km on a single charge (MIDC). The single electric motor makes 167 bhp and 215 Nm, promising a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 8.6 seconds. More

Electric Car Catches Fire While At Dealer For Service

Tata Nexon EV Catches FireIn an unfortunate and alarming incident, a Tata Nexon EV reportedly caught fire while it was parked at a service center following an accident. The car, which had been dropped off for repairs, was completely destroyed in the fire.
    What happened
According to the owner, “I met with a small accident at night one day. I was driving back home and it was raining heavily, Some construction work was going on and there were no hazard warnings. There was a big pit filled with water right on the curb of the road. My vehicle fell into it. Being an EV it was not starting as expected and we dropped it off at the service centre the next day.”
The service center attributed the fire to battery damage. However, complications soon arose. Although the service team initially verbally assured the owner of providing a replacement vehicle — reportedly a Tata Harrier — at a minimal cost, no formal action was taken. Despite the assurances, it has now been over eight months with no resolution.
Adding to the owner’s woes, the vehicle was financed and he continues to pay EMIs for a burnt vehicle. To make matters worse, United India Insurance, the insurer, has reportedly declined to clear the IDV (Insured Declared Value) claim, allegedly offering compensation only for the battery pack instead of the full vehicle value. The owner of the car has shared details in the video below by Baiju N Nair.
    [embedded content]
“First two months they were very cooperative and supportive ( verbally offered me any car from the brand for just a very minimal cost) but now they are not keeping their word and not helping me claim my insurance as well. Also they are not giving evidence or any report of the incident,” added the owner.
    Waiting for resolution
The frustrated owner also shared his experience on Reddit, underlining the lack of cooperation from the dealer and insurer. Community members advised him to escalate the issue by filing a police FIR, reaching out to consumer forums, and using social media to highlight the incident.
This case raises concerns over post-accident handling of EVs, insurance claim processes, and customer service accountability when vehicles are damaged under dealer custody. It also brings into focus the potential risks associated with electric vehicles exposed to floodwater and subsequent maintenance processes. More
