    Tata Nexon Electric Prices Increased By Rs 25,000 – March 2022

    Tata Motors will soon be launching an updated version of Nexon EV with a larger battery packTata Nexon ElectricTata Motors keeps on constantly updating its lineup. In the past few months, the company has introduced an all new car in the form of Punch, multiple special models including the Dark Edition range and the recently launched Kaziranga Edition. They have also launched CNG Tiago and CNG Tigor.The company’s next big launch is likely to be an updated Nexon EV with the option of a larger battery pack. While Nexon EV is available as a Dark Edition model, it misses out on a Kaziranga Edition. The reason why Nexon EV did not get Kaziranga edition is that the carmaker has some other plans for their electric SUV.Tata Nexon Electric Prices March 2022It is likely that Tata Motors is planning to launch a new special edition for Nexon EV. This could probably be exclusive with their electric cars – Nexon and Tigor. The new special edition of Nexon EV could be a new variant with a new exterior paint scheme and a slightly different interior layout.Considering that the Nexon EV is getting a facelift soon, the launch of a special edition could help clear existing stock of the electric SUV. Ahead of that, Tata Motors has increased prices of Nexon EV by Rs 25k. All variants of Nexon electric have become expensive. Tata has also increased prices of their petrol / diesel cars by Rs 3k.Tata Nexon Electric Prices March 2022For now, Nexon continues in three variants of XM, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux. The latter 2 variants also come in Dark mode. The Dark Edition model of Nexon EV adopts an all-black theme and is wrapped by a Midnight Black paint scheme on its exterior. It rides on completely blacked-out alloy wheels and comes with additional features like a tyre pressure monitoring system and a tyre puncture repair kit.Nexon EV Specs & VariantsCurrently, Nexon EV is packed with Tata’s Ziptron EV powertrain technology which features a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack that supplies energy to an electric motor. The resultant output from this powertrain is rated at 127 bhp and 245 Nm of peak torque.The electric SUV claims a range of 312km on a single charge. It also comes with an 8-year standard warranty and an IP67 waterproof battery pack. Nexon does not have a direct rival in the segment, but competes with the likes of MG ZS EV and Hyundai Kona EV.Tata Motors offers a small home wall box charger that takes around 8 hours for the battery to be rejuvenated. Using a fast charger, the battery could be recharged from 0-80 percent in just 60 minutes. In its present avatar, Nexon EV is offered in three trims including XM, XZ+, and XZ+ Lux which are priced between Rs 14.54 lakh and Rs 17.15 lakh (ex-showroom). More

It is currently working on at least 3 electric cars, which will be part of its Born Electric range. These will be based on an entirely new platform. Mahindra has stated that its new electric cars will be unveiled later this year in July. Most details will be revealed at the time of unveil.As evident in teasers, Mahindra Born Electric range has only SUVs. It is likely that Mahindra will first target segments that have high demand. Once it emerges as a leading EV manufacturer, the company can think about other segments.Mahindra is likely to continue with its existing strategy wherein it focuses exclusively on SUVs. The company has decided not to foray in hatchbacks and sedan segment. The same approach can be used in EV space as well. Today, Mahindra has released yet another teaser. This will ensure that Mahindra born electric cars will be accessible to a broader range of users. Based on market response, it will also help the company to understand which segments have the most potential.Mahindra new electric carsMahindra Born Electric range will have distinctive design and styling, quite different from its existing petrol/diesel powered SUVs. Some key features include C-shaped LED DRLs and tail lamps and aerodynamic body panelling. Two of these SUVs can be seen with a sloping roofline, creating a premium coupe-like persona.Another USP of Mahindra Born Electric cars will be a comprehensive range of advanced features. It will include a new set of connectivity features, likely to be powered by AI and machine learning. We have already seen Mahindra upgrade its features list with XUV700 that offers ADAS functions such as front collision warning, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and automatic emergency braking.In case of electric SUVs, one key challenge for Mahindra will be pricing. The bigger the vehicle, the more battery power it will need to push it forward. And current battery packs don’t come cheap. Mahindra’s current range of SUVs are known for their affordability.     Electric Car Sales Feb 2022 – Tata, Mahindra, Hyundai, MG, BYD

    YoY electric car sales improve manifold in February 2022 bolstered largely by Tata MotorsTata Nexon ElectricElectric car sales in India are yet to become the phenomenon that E2W’s are proving to be. As expected, sales volume is way lower than that of electric two wheelers dominated by scooters. But it’s a bit of a drag considering not many existing manufacturers are offering affordable electric cars.Clearly the industry isn’t going to be rescued by new car manufacturers and known names are yet to play their ace game. There is however the approach by Tata Motors that bucks the trend. It also singlehandedly contributes to almost all sales. Tata Motors has over 96% market share in the electric car segment of India.Electric Car Sales Feb 2022 – Tata LeadsFor February 2022, electric car retail sales are reported at 2,264 units. In a YoY comparison, this stands markedly improved from 434 units. In January, sales were reported at 1,360 units ensuring a 3 digit MoM growth.Tata Motors electric car sales stood at 2,264 units in Feb 2022 – growing by 421% over Feb 2021 (YoY) and by 66% (MoM). Tata offers Nexon EV and Tigor EV in this space, which are entry level electric cars priced in the Rs 10-20 lakh range.Electric Car Sales Feb 2022 vs Feb 2021 (YoY) – Vinkesh Gulati / FADA.MG Motor ZS EV sales are reported at 38 units. YoY sales fell by more than two-thirds, down from 127 units. In January 2021, sales were reported at 59 units. MoM decline is reported at over a third.Mahindra and HyundaiIn India, Mahindra has been in the electric space for longer than most. However, that’s not reflected in its monthly sales. Last month sales were reported at 12 units. A year earlier, this number stood at 10 units. In January 2022, 31 units were reported sold.BYD India reports 10 units sold in January, and February 2022, each. BYD offers the e6 electric car in India. Hyundai India sold 6 electric cars last month. Hyundai Kona is the brand’s solo electric offering in IndiaElectric Car Sales Feb 2022 vs Jan 2022 (MoM) – Vinkesh Gulati / FADA.Luxury Electric CarsAudi India registered 7 units in sales last month. They offer the etron electric car in India. Jaguar Land Rover reported 6 units of I-Pace. In January 10 units were sold. Mercedes Benz AG reported 4 units sold in Feb’22, and 2 units sold in Jan ’22. They have the EQC on offer in India.Porsche sold 4 units of Taycan in February, and 2 units in January. Olectra Greentech sold 2 units in January, and none in February 2022. In all, electric car sales in February 2022 rose to 2,352 units, up from 593 units YoY. In January 2022, total electric car sales were reported at just below 1.5k units.Indian electric vehicle marketIt’s no surprise that luxury car manufacturers have been at the fore when it comes to introducing electric cars to their product line-up here. With global demand for electric cars being much higher, it’s only a matter of time and product strategy for global names to introduce their electric line-up here.With most manufacturers here not disclosing a clear business plan where electric vehicles are concerned, one can only wait and watch. Currently at its infancy, growth projections until the end of the decade look positive. With great changes expected within 5 years, market share of electric cars is expected to be at just over 10 percent.  More

This functionality allows the owner to track his / her CO2 emissions and compare them with other owners. Other than this, the updated i-Smart technology comes with over 75 connected car features.In addition, the updated system will offer an advanced VR system that offers over 100 commands (including over 35 Hinglish commands) to control various functionalities of the car. Other features on offer include a new 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment unit compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, a navigation system and more.Updated Powertrain SpecsThe outgoing ZS EV is equipped with a 44.7 kWh HT (Hi-tech) battery pack which is paired to a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. This powertrain kicks out an output of 143 bhp and 353 Nm of peak torque. The automaker claims a 0-100 kmph time of 8.5 seconds. MG will likely replace the 44.5 kWh battery pack with a 51 kWh which will return the same output.2022 MG ZS EV Facelift – New 17 inch alloysHowever, after the latest update, the new ZS EV is expected to offer a range of almost 500km on a single charge as opposed to 419km offered on the previous iteration. The electric SUV will continue to be offered in FWD configuration and a single-speed automatic gearbox. There are multiple drive modes that alter its power delivery. The range is also increased by a small margin through three-level regenerative braking.Expected Price, TrimsThe upcoming ZS EV will be offered in a single fully-loaded Exclusive trim only which is expected to command a premium over the outgoing model. For reference, the current top-spec variant of the electric crossover is priced at Rs 25.18 lakh (ex-showroom). It will continue to rival Hyundai Kona upon its launch in India.     Upcoming Jeep Electric SUV Debuts – Smaller Than Renegade

    Upcoming Jeep Electric SUVThe upcoming electric SUV from Jeep will share its architecture with the upcoming RAM 1500 electric pickup truckJeep has been very vocal about its intentions to go green in the coming future. The plans have received a fresh impetus after the company, along with other subsidiaries from FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) formed part of a new conglomerate called Stellantis in 2020.Now, the Italian-American brand has globally revealed images of its first-ever fully electric model. There are other details attached to these images but Jeep has confirmed that this new electric SUV will make its debut sometime in the first half of 2023.Upcoming Jeep Electric SUV – Exterior DesignThe images reveal a concept prototype of a compact SUV that is smaller than Jeep Renegade that will be based on a born electric platform. Exterior design of this concept is in line with the current Jeep models which flaunt a signature seven-slat grille upfront but doesn’t feature a mesh interior. The faux grille is flanked by LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs on both sides.The front grille also sports an ‘e’ symbol to distinguish itself from its fossil fuel powered siblings. It gets traditional Jeep characteristics including the flared wheel arches and muscular front and rear bumpers which lend it a brawny appearance. The electric SUV is wrapped in a yellow and black dual-tone paint scheme that accentuates its sportiness. Rear door handlebars have been incorporated into the C pillar.Upcoming Jeep Electric SUV2023 Jeep electric SUV receives the same alloy wheel designs as seen in the facelifted avatar of Compass Trailhawk which was launched recently. It also sports a black decal on its hood similar to Trailhawk. At rear, the EV boasts a sculpted tailgate which features a roof-mounted spoiler, wraparound LED tail-lamp and the Jeep logo at the centre. Black plastic claddings around wheel arches and door arches further amplify its SUV stance.Jeep’s electrification planEarlier last year, Jeep unveiled plug-in hybrid derivatives of Renegade, Wrangler, and Grand Cherokee SUVs and soon plans to introduce off-road friendly versions of Grand Cherokee and Trailhawk with hybrid powertrains. Previously, Jeep had revealed its vision that by 2025 all its models will be electrified- either fully electric or hybrid powertrains.The yet-unnamed electric SUV will be heading towards European markets first followed by other international markets. It is expected to be laced with all modern technologies and is likely to offer all-wheel-drive capabilities as well. As mentioned earlier, it will be an entry-level EV smaller than the Renegade compact SUV and will be underpinned by the STLA platform developed by Stellantis.Apparently, there will be four different iterations of this STLA architecture including- STLA Small, STLA Medium, STLA Large and STLA Frame. Most electric SUVs under the various subsidiary brands of Stellantis will be based on one of these STLA platforms. As far as design is concerned, XUV900 will be unlike any other Mahindra SUV we have seen thus far.Mahindra EVs common featuresGonig by the teasers, it is apparent that Mahindra’s new electric SUVs will share quite a few styling bits. It includes C-shaped LED lights at front and rear. The short teaser video shows glimpses of the upcoming MG electric car which is yet unnamed. By the looks of it, the company might be launching yet another battery-powered crossover after ZS. However, unlike ZS, this vehicle is expected to be a brand new, born electric car.New MG electric car teasedThe teaser shows the upcoming EV wrapped in an orange paint scheme. Highlights such as broad front fenders, high bonnet line, high ground clearance and a flat-ish tailgate indicate the company has opted for the SUV route. In the caption, MG says that this electric car has been developed keeping in mind the needs of consumers in the UK.Hence, in all likelihood, this upcoming electric car will be launched in the UK and other developed markets in Europe. The images also confirm the presence of a camera on the ORVM which suggests that a 360-degree camera could be part of this package.Expected Powertrain SpecsWhile official details are yet awaited, this electric car teased in social media could be the brand’s new EV- MG 4. Upon its launch, MG 4 is expected to rival other upcoming entry-level electric SUVs like Kia EV6 and Volkswagen ID.3. This electric SUV is expected to feature a 61.1 kWh battery pack powering an electric motor to generate a maximum output of 154 bhp and 260 Nm of torque.This powertrain is expected to return a range of around 400km on a single charge. As a first step, it has filed for 5 trademarks. These include EV6, EV6 Earth, EV6 Water, EV6 Air and EV6 Light.It is an indication that plans for induction of the EV6 in the Indian market are ON and most probably the electric crossover will be launched in 4 different trims, namely Earth, Water, Air and Light. Interestingly, in international markets, the EV6 is sold in 3 different trims, namely Light, Wind and GT-Line.The EV6 is based upon Kia’s E-GMP platform, which it shares with the Hyundai Ioniq 5. The platform happens to be an EV-specific platform and is expected to spawn more products in the future. It must be noted that earlier reports have suggested that Hyundai has been contemplating on bringing in the Ioniq 5 to the country.Kia EV6 trademarked in IndiaKia EV6 PowertrainTalking about the EV6, the entry level trims get a 58 kWh battery pack which powers a rear-mounted motor. The setup can dish-out 167 bhp and 349 Nm of peak torque and can do 0-100 kmph in 8 seconds. It has a restricted top speed of 185 kmph while the overall driving range happens to be 373 km.Kia also offers a larger battery pack option, which is rated at 77.4 kWh. It powers a rear-mounted motor which can churn out 225 bhp and 349 Nm of max torque and has the ability to let the crossover do a 0-100 kmph in just 7.2 seconds.Kia EV6 AWD option uses a dual-motor setup which has a combined power output of 320 bhp and 604 Nm. This combo helps the EV6 to do a 0-100 kmph run in just around 5 seconds while has its top speed limited to 188 kmph, electronically. With this larger battery set-up the range for the RWD variant happens to be 500 km while the AWD variant can last for 441 kms in a single charge.Kia EV6 logo trademarked in IndiaKia EV6 FeaturesBeing a Kia, the crossover gets a ton of creature comfort features.
