    Rear seat experience of MG M9 starts with the powered sliding rear doors which can be triggered by request sensors on the handle or the key. Helping you to climb inside are a robust built-in step on door sill and a long grab handle. M9 is a tall vehicle and scooting into the seat after hopping in is like a cakewalk.

    Once on M9’s rear seat, one can’t help but notice the amount of vehicular controls that can be accessed from here. Some of these include rear auto climate control with dedicated blower, front and rear panoramic sunroof with an electric blind, rear theatre lights, electrically sliding doors, front passenger seat with the help of electric Boss Mode and more.

    These individual rear thrones are stupendously comfortable with all the support and plushness one could ask for. Both rear occupants get dedicated window blinds and these windows can go all the way down as well. Occupants are spoiled with a rear panoramic sunroof, dedicated AC vents and infotainment screens that get smartphone linking, music and AUX in along with a host of Android apps including Google Chrome and Youtube.

    The outer-end armrest gets a sliding function and below it, we have a retractable cupholder that can accommodate multiple bottle diameters. Inner-end armrest can be opened to reveal a tissue paper dispenser and a dedicated stowaway for these tissues along with Type-A and Type-C USB posts. To access 3rd row seats, one can just walk between 2nd row seats and 3rd row occupants get dedicated Type-A ports, AC vents and other amenities.

    A King’s Throne
    2nd row seats are easily the most important ones here and they are electrically operated, heated (3 levels), cooled (3 levels) and even offer 8 massage functions including Pulse, Wave, Walk, Single, Comfort, Butterfly, Waist and Snake. These massaging functions come in handy during the commute back home after a long day of work.

    All seat settings and most vehicular settings are crammed into a dedicated display present below the sliding armrest of both 2nd row seats. Using this screen, 2nd row captain chairs can be electrically operated to the full extent to move it front, back, sides and recline along with lumbar support, headrest position and the position of powered calf support which can be extended too.

    If you don’t want to fiddle with individual seat settings, there is a memory function too, which is just convenient. MG has also crammed in Extend function that automatically brings it to a relaxed position and there is even a Sleep Comfort button that will recline and allow you to sleep as well. The same screen controls front passenger window, both rear windows, front sunroof, rear sunroof, rear auto climate control and a host of other vehicular functions.

    Then comes the Scenario Centre that bundles seat ventilation, seat position, window and sunroof positions into four scenarios. These are Summer Cool, Winter Warm, Rest Moment and Fresh & Comfort. All these scenarios are completely customisable and with the press of one scenario, it will adjust all set parameters on its own, which is a smart feature.

    Plush Luxury
    2nd row experience on MG M9 electric luxury MPV is not just limited to features, gizmos and comfort factor. MG has taken care of luxury too. The company is using soft leather on the seats and a mix of Alcantara thrown in for good measure. The same treatment extends to rear door pads as well.

    There’s soft touch plastics almost everywhere, complemented by gloss Black elements and brushed Aluminium elements. MG has worked on sound insulation of M9 from outside elements. When moving, there’s almost nothing that filters through M9’s well insulated cabin. Wind noise, tyre noise and road noise are very well contained.

    All in all, MG M9 offers one of the best rear-seat experiences in the luxury MPV business and it all depends on MG M9’s pricing, which is still under wraps. We will say, MG M9’s Game for the Throne is quite strong. We would encourage prospective buyers to test the MG M9 before considering any imported luxury vehicle in India.

    Harrier EV Receives Record 10,000 Bookings In 24 Hours – Production Starts

    Harrier EV Receives Record 10,000 BookingsTata Harrier EV is being manufactured at the company’s Pune facility and deliveries are scheduled to commence from July 2025
    With over 10,000 bookings on the day of launch, it is evident that Tata Harrier EV has received a phenomenal market response. This is the second-best booking numbers in this segment. Earlier this year in February, Harrier EV’s primary rival, Mahindra XEV 9e, had received bookings of 16,900 units on the day of launch.

    Monthly production targets for Harrier EV have not been revealed. But the brand seems confident of keeping up with potential increased demand. Even though there is an ongoing shortage of rare earth metals, Tata has stated that it currently does not face any immediate crisis. It implies that production of Harrier EV will continue in a seamless manner. Customers can expect to get their deliveries in a timely manner.

    It is likely that supply chains could have been proactively strengthened or a higher inventory of raw materials was maintained. Tata reportedly imports battery cells from established suppliers from China. These cells are then assembled into battery packs by Tata AutoComp.
    To cater to the battery needs of its growing EV portfolio, Tata is building a battery gigafactory in India. The related entity, Agratas, will start manufacturing lithium-ion battery cells in 2026. Local manufacturing of battery packs will allow the brand to exercise greater control over production costs.
    Harrier EV – Performance, specs
    Harrier EV has two battery pack options – a 65-kWh and a 75-kWh unit. Certified range is 538 km with the smaller battery pack and 627 km with the larger battery (MIDC standards). However, Tata provides a more realistic range estimate with its C75 testing standards. C75 numbers are 420 km to 445 km with the 65-kWh battery pack and 480 km to 505 km with the 75-kWh battery variant.
    Harrier EV top variant is available in QWD format (quad wheel drive with dual motors), using the larger 75 kWh battery pack. It has a certified range of 622 km. C75 range for the QWD is 460 km to 490 km. Talking about performance, the RWD variants generate 238 PS and 315 Nm of torque.
    Harrier EV QWD dual motor variant generates 158 PS with the front motor and 238 PS with the rear motor. Combined torque output is 504 Nm. RWD variants get drive modes of Eco, City and Sport, whereas the QWD variant gets an additional Boost mode.
    50% EV market share target
    As competition in the electric segment has intensified, Tata Motors is looking to maintain market share of around 50% in the medium to long term. Good response to products like Harrier EV gives Tata the confidence to move ahead with its ambitious goals in the EV space.
    Tata Motors already has the largest portfolio of electric cars in the mass-market segment. There are several new EVs under development such as Safari EV, Sierra EV and Avinya range. To tackle increasing competition in the EV segment, Tata Motors has plans to build a war chest of up to 350 billion rupees ($4.1 billion). The funds are planned to be used over a five-year period.     Mahindra is set to commence deliveries of Pack Two for its popular BE 6 and XEV 9e electric SUVs from the end of July 2025. Continuing to ride on its industry-leading momentum, Mahindra’s Electric Origin SUVs have emerged as market leaders in India by value, with one Mahindra electric SUV reportedly being sold every 10 minutes across the country.

    Pack Two now comes with a choice of 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, with introductory prices starting from Rs 21.90 lakh for the BE 6 and Rs 24.90 lakh for the XEV 9e. The larger 79 kWh battery option, priced at Rs 23.50 lakh for BE 6 and Rs 26.50 lakh for XEV 9e, promises real-world city driving ranges of 500 km, while the 59 kWh version delivers 400 km.

    Both models in Pack Two boast an impressive feature list, including a Harman Kardon 16-speaker sound system with Dolby Atmos, a full glass roof, and Level 2 ADAS functionality. In the XEV 9e, customers will experience the triple-screen wide cinemascope display, while the BE 6 features a race-inspired digital cockpit. Mahindra is also introducing the premium sage leatherette interiors from Pack Three to BE 6 Pack Two, paired with an ivory roof finish for a more upscale feel.
    High-Tech Features and Advanced Powertrains for New Pack Two
    The electric SUVs are built with performance and convenience in mind. With 210 kW of power on the 79 kWh version and 170 kW on the 59 kWh, plus multiple driving modes including Boost Mode, they deliver an engaging drive. The BE 6 and XEV 9e Pack Two models also feature superfast charging technology, achieving a 20% to 80% top-up in just 20 minutes using fast DC chargers.

    New Renault Megane EV Spotted With Chennai Number Plates

    Renault will be introducing multiple new models in India including the new-gen Duster and its 7-seater version, Boreal SUV. 2026 Kwid EV has also been spotted on road tests. Latest sighting is that of Renault Megane E-Tech Electric in Chennai. Let’s check out the details.
    Renault Megane EV – What’s brewing?
    Last year too, the Renault Megane EV was spotted in India. At that time, sources had revealed that the vehicle was being used for internal testing. Renault Megane EV was launched in 2022, as the 5th-gen successor to the ICE-powered Megane. As of now, Megane EV is primarily targeted at European markets. The first-gen Renault Megane (ICE) was launched in 1995.

    At the time of launch of Megane EV, Renault was actually thinking about the possibility of introducing it in India. It would have arrived in India via the CBU route, with an expected price of around Rs 45 lakh. However, those plans apparently did not materialize.
    With the Megane EV spotted once again in India, could things be different this time? It could be possible, as the government has revised its EV policy. One of the key changes is the reduction in import duty for EVs from 110% to 15%. This new EV policy has been introduced as the Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Electric Passenger Cars in India (SPMEPCI).
    New Renault Megane EV Spotted
    Carmakers like Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen, Skoda, Hyundai and Kia have shown interest in participating in SPMEPCI. While not officially confirmed, Renault could be thinking about following a similar approach. Import duty reduction from 110% to 15% can be a major advantage for imported EVs in India.

    SPMEPCI is applicable for EVs that are priced above USD 35,000 or approx. Rs 30 lakh. Renault Megane EV fulfils this criterion, as the price in the UK starts at £32,495 (approx. Rs 37.88 lakh). However, there are various other conditions under SPMEPCI, which may or may not suit every carmaker. It is to note that India-EU trade talks are also underway and the outcome could impact Renault’s strategy for India.
    Renault Megane EV – Powertrain, specs
    Renault Megane E-Tech Electric is based on the CMF-EV platform. It is available with two front-wheel-drive electric motor options of 96 kW (130 hp) and 160 kW (220 hp). The 220 hp variant can achieve 0 to 100 km/h in around 7.4 seconds. Megane EV was originally launched with two battery pack options of 40 kWh and 60 kWh. However, most markets now have only the 60-kWh battery pack. As per WLTP standards, range is 285 miles (approx. 460 km).
    When using a 150 kW DC public fast charger, Renault Megane EV can achieve 15%-80% charge in around 32 minutes. With a 22 kW AC public charger, the charging time is 4 hours 10 minutes. Megane EV can also be charged with a 7.4 kW AC home charging point, which takes around 6 hours to achieve 15% to 80% charge. Across Europe, Renault Megane EV takes on rivals such as Volkswagen ID.3, Peugeot e-308, Cupra Born, MG4 Electric, Hyundai Kona Electric (New-Gen) and Kia Niro EV. More

    Mahindra Teases Vision.S ConceptMahindra is stirring excitement with a brand-new teaser for Vision.S, ahead of its much-anticipated Freedom_NU event scheduled on August 15 in Mumbai. The event name celebrates India’s Independence Day (“Freedom”) while hinting at Mahindra’s future vehicle architecture “NU” — a flexible new platform that will support both hybrid (ICE) and electric vehicles.
    What is Mahindra Vision.S?
    The teaser, posted by Mahindra Automotive on its social channels, features both the ICE and Mahindra Electric Origin logos, strongly indicating that the upcoming Freedom_NU platform will be capable of supporting multiple powertrains, including petrol, diesel, EV and potentially hybrids. Mahindra has earlier teased Vision.T, speculated to preview an Electric Thar. The newly teased Vision.S is expected to preview either the Electric Scorpio N or its pickup derivative — or perhaps an entirely new product in Mahindra’s SUV portfolio.

    The Vision.S teaser gives little away, but considering Mahindra’s product roadmap and the hashtag Freedom_NU, it may preview the electrified future of the hugely popular Scorpio N or the Scorpio N pickup. These two products have been in the spotlight recently, with the Scorpio N pickup concept shown in 2023 now seen testing on Indian roads.

    The Scorpio N pickup will be a global product, heading to markets like Australia, South Africa, and the Middle East. It is likely to borrow the 2.2L diesel engine from the Scorpio N SUV, with a petrol option also possible to keep costs in check and meet evolving emissions standards. High ground clearance, multiple drive modes, 4×4 options, and a tough suspension setup with leaf springs for load-carrying ability are all expected, especially after test mules were spied recently with visible changes from the Cape Town concept.

    Mahindra Vision.T Concept Teased – T for Thar?First showcased a couple of years ago, Mahindra Thar.e remains one of the wildest concept vehicles the company ever showcased. It diverges away from Jeep Wrangler inspired design language and could propel the company’s efforts to expand its global presence.
    Now, Mahindra Vision.T Concept has been teased, which is regarded as an evolution of Thar.e concept showcased on 15th August 2023. As per the teasers, Mahindra will unveil Vision.T concept on August 15th, 2025 and it would be interesting to see how much Mahindra’s design has evolved in two years.

    This is the second teaser from Mahindra Auto, hinting at the possibilities of what could be showcased on 15th August 2025 in Mumbai city. As seen in the teaser, Mahindra is showing off a boxy and rugged SUV with a lot of attitude. We can see knobby M/T tyres and very short front overhang, which suggests that it may be a serious off-roader.
    We can also see a muscular bonnet with character lines, flared wheel arches, an upright windscreen and other elements which point the obvious finger at Thar.e concept. Or an evolved version of Thar.e concept that the company is calling Vision.T. In the caption, Mahindra asks viewers “Any guesses on what the T in Vision.T stands for?”.

    The obvious answer seems to be Thar, while it may bear a suffix when launched in production- spec guise. Say, Thar Sports or any of the six trademarks remaining after Mahindra used Thar Roxx. These include Thar Armada, Thar Cult, Thar Savannah, Thar Rex, Thar Gladius and Thar Centurion.
    What to expect?
    At the grand stage in Mumbai on 15th August 2025, Mahindra will showcase the Vision.T concept that is speculated to be an evolved version of Thar.e concept. Alongside that, Mahindra is expected to showcase around 4 to 5 new vehicles and a new platform that will underpin future vehicles from the brand.

    This event is named Freedom NU and the new platform is expected to support Petrol, Diesel, Electric and even Hybrid powertrains. We hope these new Hybrid powertrains from Mahindra are of Plug-in type and not self-hybrid type that only provide very little fuel efficiency benefits.     Renault Duster EV In The Works — Electric 4×4 SUV Could Arrive Post 2027

    Renault DusterRenault is preparing to electrify one of its most popular SUVs, the Duster, as part of a broader transition towards sustainable mobility. While the Duster has long been known for its rugged, affordable appeal, the upcoming electric version aims to retain that very essence — including a potential go-anywhere 4×4 capability — in its next chapter.
    Renault Duster EV In The Works
    Globally, the Duster is sold under the Dacia brand, but in India, the model will continue to wear the Renault badge. New report from, Autocar reveals that the Duster EV could debut internationally after 2027 and reach India following that timeline, depending on market demand and infrastructure readiness.
    The electric Duster will be built on the CMF-BEV platform, an EV-focused derivative of the CMF-B architecture already underpinning the ICE-powered Duster. This platform, developed by the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance, supports everything from compact city cars to midsize SUVs and will form the basis for Renault’s affordable EV push in the coming years.
    One major highlight is that the CMF-BEV platform has now been confirmed to support a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive configuration. This means Renault can offer a 4×4 variant of the Duster EV, keeping true to its adventurous, outdoorsy DNA while meeting the performance expectations of Indian SUV buyers.
    To Coexist With ICE Duster Beyond 2030
    In global markets, the Duster EV will likely compete with rivals such as the Fiat Grande Panda 4×4 and Toyota’s upcoming compact Land Cruiser EV. If launched in India, it will take on potential future electric off-roaders in a segment that is still emerging.
    Until the all-electric Duster arrives, the current third-generation Duster — launched globally at the end of 2024 — will continue to evolve. Later this year, Renault is expected to introduce a new range-topping hybrid 4×4 version of the Duster, which uses an electrified rear axle for all-wheel-drive capabilities. This hybrid variant could be a logical step for India too, given our growing acceptance of strong-hybrid technologies as a transition to full-electric vehicles. India launch of the new Duster is expected by early 2026.
    The ICE-powered Duster is likely to continue beyond the end of this decade, with the electric version offered alongside it — similar to how Renault plans to position the Clio and the upcoming electric Renault 5 in Europe. This dual-approach allows the brand to maintain affordability while gradually shifting towards zero-emission mobility.
    Production Synergies Likely to Keep Costs Competitive
    In line with Renault’s strategy, the Duster EV will use common parts, manufacturing lines, and supplier networks to keep costs under control, helping it stay true to the Duster’s reputation for value. Renault has not confirmed whether the Duster EV will be manufactured in the same Indian facility as its ICE siblings, but the brand’s past practice of sharing production lines strongly suggests that a localised approach is likely.
