Porsche TaycanTaycan is the first real European rival for Tesla Model S. It offers what Tesla lacks, a sense of luxury. Battery size goes till 93.4 kWh, promising a range of up to 484 km (RWD). Range might be low compared to battery size. But is acceptable considering top-spec Turbo S packs dual motors with 625 bhp and 1,050 Nm torque and can hit 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds with AWD.2022 Mercedes EQS Electric24. Mercedes-Benz EQSAt 107.8 kWh capacity, Mercedes-Benz EQS packs in the largest battery among EVs in India. Largest battery translates to highest range too, promising 857 km on a single charge. Audi e-tron GTWanted a Porsche Taycan, but from Audi? e-tron GT is that vehicle. The appeal of a Porsche is missing. But the e-tron GT makes sense too as it packs more knobs and buttons to control interior functions than Taycan.Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo26. Porsche Taycan Cross TurismoStation wagons are one of the hottest segments in Europe. Porsche saw an opportunity and crafted Taycan Sport Turismo. It is not on offer in India. Instead, we get its ruggedised and off-roady version called Cross Turismo. It is a Porsche Taycan underneath, better looking (IMO).New BMW i7 Electric – Launched in India27. BMW i7Another BMW vehicle with a controversial design. But i7 is a full-size sedan and rivals Mercedes-Benz EQS. It packs 101.78 kWh of battery with a claimed 625 km of range. Dual motors with 536 bhp and 745 Nm allow the i7 to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. It is slightly more expensive than EQS for less performance and less range. It blows punches with more rear-seat occupant luxury than EQS.Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ India Launch28. Mercedes-Benz AMG EQSIf you thought standard EQS was already bonkers, you’re right. But folks at Mercedes-Benz and AMG think otherwise. AMG EQS has the same battery as EQS, but motors get an upgrade to generate 751 bhp and 1,020 Nm of torque. The AMG EQS is not as quick as the Taycan Turbo S, but 0-100 km/h in 3.4 seconds is commendable.Electric cars on sale in India – May 2023 More

New Honda Compact Electric SUVWhile official launch timeline is not available, 2024 Honda e:Ny1 EV is expected to debut in Europe in coming monthsHonda has been rather late in EV segment. However, recent plans show that the Japanese carmaker has stepped up focus to boost its electric portfolio in international markets. But in India, Honda continues to focus on ICE-based and hybrid cars.Honda’s brand-new electric SUV for European market is e:Ny1 compact SUV. It was earlier showcased as e:Ny1 Prototype, which in turn is similar to e:NS1 and e:NP1 twins available in Chinese market. Honda e:Ny1 seems familiar, as the SUV is essentially an electric version of HR-V.New Honda Compact Electric SUV2024 Honda e:Ny1 electric compact SUV detailsAlthough it looks like HR-V, Honda has stated that its new e:Ny1 electric SUV is based on an entirely new e:N Architecture F. It has some unique characteristics, designed to improve drive dynamics. One of the key highlights is a front-drive platform. The e:N Architecture F has three primary USPs – low centre of gravity, a dedicated high rigidity body structure and intelligently designed under-floor aerodynamics. All these features will ensure greater confidence for users while driving the SUV and make journeys a lot more fun and exciting.New Honda Compact Electric SUVThe newly developed chassis for Honda e:Ny1 offers improved torsional rigidity. It has been achieved with the use of high tensile steel, which comprises around 47% of the SUV’s body by weight. Improved torsional rigidity means the vehicle will have better ride quality and the suspension system can work more efficiently. With the new platform and chassis, Honda e:Ny1 is primed to deliver dynamic and refined performance and exceptional comfort.New Honda Compact Electric SUVIn terms of how it differs from HR-V, Honda e:Ny1 Compact Electric SUV has new headlamps, a closed grille and new bumper. This seems to be a new identity for Honda’s electric cars.Honda follows a similar approach for Type R variants that have the logo in red background. Similarly, Honda hybrid cars have the H logo in blue background. Another unique aspect is new typeface for ‘HONDA’ badging at rear.New Honda Compact Electric SUV2024 Honda e:Ny1 Compact Electric SUV is expected to offer spacious interiors. Tata Punch Electric Spied. Images – PhotulogyUpon launch, Punch Electric will rival the likes of Citroen eC3 and recently launched MG Comet EVWith new rivals in entry-level EV segment, Tata Motors is looking to spruce up its EV portfolio. The strategy to launch electric versions of existing popular ICE models has paid rich dividends for the company. After Nexon, Tiago and Tigor, the next to get the EV version is Tata Punch.Tata’s primary volume generators have been Nexon and Punch. While Nexon has crossed the 5-lakh production milestone, Punch recently achieved the 2-lakh production milestone. With Punch’s soaring popularity, it seems the right time to introduce its electric version. Punch will also be getting a CNG option soon.Tata Punch Electric SpiedPunch Electric spotted – Same exterior profilePunch Electric has been spotted on a tow truck. The tight-fitting camouflage reveals that Punch EV has the same exterior profile as the ICE-based Punch. Even the alloy wheels are the same as ICE Punch.Changes at the front are not needed, as Punch Electric is likely to have the charging port at the same spot where the ICE version has the fuel tank lid. This has been the case with Nexon EV and Tiago EV as well. This setup probably helps reduce the number of changes required to convert an ICE-based car into an electric car.Tata Punch Electric SpiedHowever, Punch electric could get some new features. For example, the test mule can be seen with rear disc brakes. In comparison, ICE Punch is offered with front disc and rear drum brakes. Interiors reveal the presence of a rotary dial, indicating that the EV could get an electronic parking brake. This feature is already available with Nexon EV Max. The electronic parking brake functions automatically and it can also be engaged and disengaged manually.Tata Punch Electric SpiedOther features on the inside appear to be the same as ICE Punch. The electric version can be seen with a floating 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which is likely to be from Harman and come with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. MG Comet Based Yep Electric Pickup Could Soon Be A Reality

MG Yep e-SUV’s Pickup versionMG Comet based Yep electric SUV will soon get a pickup version – Reveals new reportProspect of a mini EV is understandable. It aids in big cities with heavy congestion, parking and running costs. Newest EV in India, MG Comet, is a good example. MG’s parent company has revealed more mini EVs based on the Comet platform. One of them is Baojun Yep EV. It is a mini SUV with 3 doors. Launch is planned in the coming weeks.Based on this electric SUV, we will also get an electric pickup truck. Yep, SAIC-GM-Wuling Design Studio (SGMW Studio) has revealed a pickup truck version of its Yep electric mini SUV. These are still in render phase. However, given that it is from SAIC-GM-Wuling, a production version is largely possible.MG Comet Based Yep Electric PickupBaojun Yep is a mini electric SUV designed to bring a tall driving stance in mini EV segment. It will go on sale in China soon for around CNY 100,000 (approx Rs. 11.82 lakh). Launch is expected around June or July. It measures 3381 mm long, 1685 mm wide and 1721 mm tall. Wheelbase is 2110 mm long.Baojun Yep e-SUV is 604 mm shorter than 5-door Jimny in length, 40 mm wider and just 1 mm taller. The recently surfaced pickup version is likely to have similar dimensions. Except, everything behind the front doors is a load bay with wheel-well intrusions.Rear load bayIt is not big and doesn’t seem to fit a fraction of what a real pickup truck can. That said, it looks cuter, more appealing and more lifestyle-y than the standard Yep SUV. A tailgate-mounted spare wheel amplifies ruggedness too. Because of the spare wheel, this tailgate will be side hinged too. Think Mahindra Bolero Invader.A Pink shade, because why not?Because of the rear spare wheel, the pickup truck version misses out on a rear screen, which a regular Baojun Yep gets. This screen is supposedly a way for Yep owners to show their personality by displaying anything they want. What will it pack? The same front design with quad LED headlights, front black grille, clover leaf wheel design and other exterior bits will make their way to this pickup version as well. Baojun will retain the dual horizontal screens on the inside with steering-mounted controls, and other paraphernalia from Yep SUV too.Tough green colourBattery size is not yet out. But this LFP battery has a claimed range of 303 km from a single charge (CLTC). At launch, Baojun Yep will come equipped with a single motor layout generating 68 bhp of power and 140 Nm of torque. An AWD version with two motors is in the works as well. India is likely to get the standard vehicle in the form of MG Yep e-SUV (name will change when announced). More

Citroen C3 Aircross Electric 7 Seater SUV Spied For 1st Time?

Citroen C3 Aircross Electric Spied? When launched, Citroen eC3 Aircross could pack close to 40 kWh battery, enabling a range of around 450 km on a single chargeThe French brand hatched C-Cubed strategy to tackle the tricky Indian automotive market. This plan involved targeting mainstream segments that generate the most volumes in India and heavy localization of up to 95%. We got C3 Hatchback, its electric derivative eC3 and recently, C3 Aircross 7-seater compact SUV.At the C3 Aircross debut event, Citroen had expressed its intention of launching an electrified version of its 7-seater compact SUV. Now, Citroen seems to have commenced testing of eC3 Aircross. This will be India’s first sub Rs. 20 lakh electric 7-seater.Citroen eC3 Aircross Spied Testing?Automotive enthusiast Venkat Ram spotted this test mule in Chennai recently and shared the same on Rushlane Spylane Facebook group. In the short video, this test mule is fully draped in camouflage despite debuting already. At first glance, it looks like a regular Citroen C3 Aircross test mule.On keener inspection, we can see its battery module jutting out of its skateboard. We saw something similar in our first drive impressions of eC3. But on the eC3 hatchback, a 29.2 kWh battery module is only visible from the side and not from the rear. On the recent test mule, a battery pack is evident from the rear as well.[embedded content]This could be an indication of a larger battery spread out till the rear. So, a 40 kWh battery could be possible, considering the smaller Nexon EV Max gets a 40.5 kWh battery. The test mule dons a temporary registration plate dated 2021, which seems to be in line with Citroen’s product development as the first set of eC3 test mules are believed to be registered in 2020.What will it pack other than an electric powertrain?Everything Citroen offers on C3 Aircross and some more. For starters, Citroen eC3 Aircross will pack the same interiors as its ICE counterpart along with a drive selector and center console from eC3 Hatchback. So, a 10.2” horizontal touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a digital driver’s display, and steering-mounted controls will be on offer.Apart from these, roof-mounted rear AC vents, an option between seven and five seating layouts, quirky styling, swanky 17” alloy wheels, roof rails, and LED DRLs are highly likely. While at it, we hope Citroen throws in LED headlights, LED fog lamps, cruise control, keyless entry, and probably even a sunroof, considering how trendy it is in India.Launch Price Around Rs 15-20 Lakh?Hyundai is testing an electrified Creta to launch in India. It could share powertrains with Kona EV and will rival Mahindra XUV400, MG ZS EV and to some extent, the smaller Tata Nexon EV Max. Citroen eC3 Aircross will lock horns with these EVs when launched. It can offer a claimed range of about 450 km and a real-world range of 350 km.The Ace in this French car maker’s sleeve will definitely be quirky styling and 7 seats (5+2). Current eC3 hatchback costs between Rs. 11.50 lakh and Rs. 12.43 lakh. Which is around Rs. 5 lakh over its ICE counterparts. If ICE C3 Aircross starts from Rs. 8.5 to Rs. 9 lakh, eC3 Aircross is likely to cost from around Rs. 16 lakh (all prices ex-sh). More
