  • BMW G310R and G310GS Facelift BS6 Launch in 1st week of Oct

Slated for launch early next month, BMW’s entry-level G310R and G310GS BS6 motorcycles will be equipped with a range of updates
Customers can also save money, as BMW is expected to launch the BS6 G310 twins at discounted prices. This will be something new in the auto industry, as BS6 variants are usually priced higher than their BS4 counterparts. The reason seems obvious as rival motorcycles are priced much cheaper than the G310 twins.
    Exterior updates

As revealed in teasers and spy shots, BMW G310 twins get full-LED headlamp and turn signals. It is also likely that BMW will introduce some new colour options for these bikes. Both bikes come with sharper and muscular contours, as compared to the BS4 counterparts.
On G310R, the tank has been redesigned. Another noticeable feature of the twins is the use of bright orange colour on the frame and alloys. Rear fenders now come in a horizontal design, which appears to be inspired by KTM motorcycles. Other additions include gold coloured front suspension, updated instrument console and reconfigured exhaust pipe.

    BMW G310 twins BS6 engine
BS6 G310 twins are expected to get the same engine as that of BS6 TVS Apache RR 310. The 312.2 cc liquid cooled, DOHC, single cylinder engine generates 33.53 bhp of max power at 9,700 rpm and 27.3 Nm of max torque at 7,700 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission. BS6 Apache RR310 has a top speed of 160 km/h and can reach 0-100 in 7.17 seconds. BS6 G310 twins are expected to be offered in a similar state of tune.
Pre bookings for BMW G310R and G310 GS BS6 are open for Rs 50k. To attract customers, BMW has introduced a new EMI plan where EMIs will start at just Rs 4.5k. To avail this special EMI offer, customers need to book the G 310 R or G 310 GS before their launch.
In this segment, the G310R naked streetfighter will take on the likes of KTM 390 Duke. On the other hand, the G 310 GS adventure tourer will compete with the likes of KTM Adventure 390 and Royal Enfield Himalayan.
    BMW G310 twins BS6 price
Price of BS6 G 310 twins will be announced at the time of launch. For record, the BS4 G310R was priced at Rs 2.99 lakh whereas BS4 310GS retailed at Rs 3.49 lakh. The strategy would be to bring prices of the twins closer to that of rivals. For comparison, rivals KTM 390 Duke and Adventure 390 are priced at Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 3.04 lakh, respectively. More

Mr. Vikram Pawah, President, BMW Group India said, “The all-new BMW R 18 is BMW Motorrad’s much-anticipated entry into the cruiser segment. Fans and motorcycling enthusiasts in India have been eagerly waiting for this day.”
    Design
BMW R18 draws its design inspiration from the 1965 R5 model with cues taken from the traditional swingarm, fuel tank, the exposed shaft-drive and exhaust pipes. Overall, its design resembles that of a conventional old-school bobber that sits on a double-cradle steel frame. The frame also covers the beautifully sculpted engine which highlights the impressive presence of the bike.
BMW R18 – Standard vs First Edition
Its retro look gets further accentuated by a round headlamp, wide handlebars, an exhaust pipe finished in chrome and spoked wheels. BMW will be offering two variants of the R18- a standard completely blacked-out version and a First Edition with more white pinstripes and chrome. The First Edition will also feature further distinguishing elements such as a seat badge with a ‘First Edition’ clasp, a copper-lettered logo on the tank and a Blackstorm metallic paint job.
    Powertrain
As far as performance is concerned, the R18 is powered by the largest twin-cylinder boxer motor of 1802cc displacement. This engine is capable of generating 91 bhp of power at 4,750rpm and 158Nm of peak torque at 3,000rpm. This unit is mated to a six-speed gearbox with a shaft drive setup.

  • New BMW G310 R and GS gets attractive EMI plans from Rs 4,500

BMW India is getting ready to launch the updated G 310 R and G 310 GS with BS6 engine
While BS6 mandates were dated for April 1, 2020, owing to Covid-19 pandemic related lockdown, BS6 launch plans for the period were revised. As such, as business operations have flourished, manufacturers have taken the opportunity to introduce BS6 compliant products that had been delayed.

New BMW G 310 R and GS will soon be launched in India. Pre-bookings are now open. Ahead of launch, BMW India today announced attractive EMI offer for those who plan to buy the upcoming 310s. As per this, if you pre-book either of the two bikes, 310R or 310GS ahead of launch, you will be able to get the attractive EMI plan which starts from Rs 4,500.
The EMI plan is curated under calculation for a loan under the BMW Bullet Plan. One can get a loan pre-approved before launch at a BMW Motorrad India dealership or online. Ex-showroom prices of the new motorcycles will be announced at launch. BMW India Financial Services has designed customized and flexible financial solutions. Pre-bookings were announced from the start of September 2020.

    BS6 G310
New BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS bikes are now but obviously BS6 compliant. They feature a 313 cc, single-cyl, liquid-cooled engine. Output figures are expected to remain close to what was available previously, i.e., 34 PS/28 Nm. The 6-speed transmission unit is continued.
At the time sales of the BS4 units were stopped, the bikes were available at a price of Rs 2.99 lakh, and Rs 3.49 lakh, respectively. A price revision is expected for the BS6 launch. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the BS6 prices will be lower than the BS4 prices.
    BS6 BMW G 310 R Teaser
The bikes haven’t yet been spotted undisguised, teaser images point to noticeable inclusions. BMW is going with the colour orange on alloys and frame. A horizontal rear fender is KTM inspired. Test vehicles pointed to a gold coloured front suspension setup.
With sharper design focus, changes will be seen in a newly designed headlamp unit with integrated LED DRLs, and renewed digital instrument console as well. The exhaust pipe has been worked upon.
For BMW Motorrad, the 310 twins are its smallest displacement bikes. In India, they are the highest volume booster for the brand’s bike unit. The unavailability of BS6 units meant bike sales in recent months has been highly contracted. Once launched, these two bikes will rival the likes of KTM Duke 390 and KTM ADV 390. More

  • Chinese motorcycle Moto S450RR is a copy Of BMW S1000RR

Although the bike has a different powerplant, its aesthetics and design seem to be completely ripped off from BMW S1000RR
Chinese automotive manufacturers have been guilty of plagiarism in the past as far as design is concerned. With many violations and facing various lawsuits across the globe, it looks like they haven’t learned their lesson and wish to continue with the same trend.
    Similar design but different powertrain

In what seems to be a blatant copy of one of the most popular litre-class sportbike, Chinese auto company Moto has recently revealed its sub-500cc fully-faired motorcycle- S450RR. The new bike seems to be a near replica of the iconic BMW S1000R. With a similar design of the fairing, headlight cluster, colour scheme, body graphics and even the logo sported similar to the German manufacturer, it seems as if the designing team of Moto was running short of visions.
Surprising part though is that the makers aren’t even trying to conceal the fact that it’s a copy. As with most Chinese automotive brands, there is not much information available about the Moto S450RR. However, we can share whatever little we know. The 2020 Moto S450RR is powered by a 450cc, fuel-injected, parallel-twin engine that exhibits around 24 bhp at 6,500 rpm and 22 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.

    Dynamics and Features
Hardware of the bike consists of an upside down USD front fork and a mono-shock suspension at the rear. Anchoring duties are carried out by dual discs at front wheels and a single disc at rear wheels complemented by dual-channel ABS.
In terms of features, it gets a TFT instrument panel, LED headlamps and tail lamps, clip-on handlebars and a stepped-up seat. The carbon fibre laced sport exhaust pipe also reminds us of the S1000RR. The integrated rearview mirrors, however, look more inspired by Yamaha R1.
    Price

However, the big difference between the Chinese copycat and the German motorcycle is the price tag. The Moto S450RR has been priced at 50 million Vietnamese Dong which roughly translates to INR 1.60 lakh. This is way cheaper than the nearly INR 20 lakh S1000RR. Even a replica of one of the most iconic sports bike at this price is sure to find buyers. However, it will not be long till BMW Motorrad takes notice of this bike and plans some action against the makers.
    BMW G 310 Twins
In other news, BMW is gearing up for the launch of the updated G 310 twins– G 310 R and G 310 GS in India. The bike duo serves as the entry-level motorcycles for BMW Motorrad worldwide and is manufactured locally in TVS Motors facility in Hosur. Apart from the mandatory BS6 emission updates, there will also be some cosmetic changes as well.

  • BMW Launches Drive Chain for Motorcycles that needs NO Lubrication

According to the Bavarian auto manufacturer, the new M Endurance chain doesn’t require any adjustment or re-tensioning
BMW Motorrad has announced the introduction of a new maintenance-free chain called ‘M Endurance’ chain (image above). The motorcycle manufacturer claims that the chain neither needs tension adjustment nor lubrication. While BMW is known for its almost no maintenance shaft-driven bikes, they have decided to turn their attention to drive chains.

The new M Endurance chain will come as a factory-fitted option in the litre-class motorcycles such as S1000RR and S1000XR. For the existing consumers, it will be offered as an accessory option in the rest of the models. This new drive chain will be offered in more BMW Motorrad models in the future.
Details of the M Endurance Chain
The new chain visually looks like any other standard X-ring chain which has a permanent lubricant filling between the rollers and pins. An additional industrial diamond coating has been used for the rollers and the bushes. The new material is being called ‘tetrahedrally amorphous carbon’, or ta-C by BMW. This is what adds to the longevity of the chains as per the company.

The coating is said to keep the chain strong enough so that it can function properly for a longer duration without cleaning or lubricating it. The ta-C also provides other advantages such as it helps increase performance of a motorcycle by reducing the friction coefficient and thus reduces wear and tear.
The engineers from the Bavarian auto company claim that one need not apply the traditional lubricants to it since the lubricants never wear off due to friction. BMW has employed Diamond Like Carbon (DLC) coatings as a process to reduce friction and increase hardness in parts like engine internals. The company claims that ta-C on the chains provides similar benefits and that it acts as a bridge between DLC and an actual diamond on the hardness scale.
    Price
The ta-C on chains makes it easier for riders as well as on the environment since it no longer has to apply cleaning and lubrication products to this new chain. BMW UK’s online configurator for bikes has listed the price at GBP 100 as an add-on. This translates roughly to INR Rs 9,708.
Usually, regular chain maintenance is advisable to keep your drive chain in a healthy condition which helps you ensure the longevity of your bike. For many riders chain maintenance is not a very pleasant job. Therefore, for them, it will be one less thing to worry about. It is particularly useful when one has to do long-distance commutes over an extended period of time. More

  • BMW G 310 R BS6 Facelift Teased – Gets KTM Duke 390 Like Colour Alloys

The G 310 twins’ launch has been in the loop for a very long time now due to the ongoing crisis of Covid-19 pandemic across the country
A few days ago we had reported that BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle wing, of the Bavarian auto giant has started accepting bookings of their upcoming G 310 twins, though unofficially. Now, we can confirm that the company will start accepting bookings of the duo from 1st Sep. Launch will take place later in Sep.

The G 310 R and G 310 GS are the entry-level motorcycles from BMW and the only ones that are manufactured completely in India. While the BS6 versions were expected to hit the roads much earlier this year, the German company’s plan was withheld due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. However, now it seems that BMW is ready with the launch of these bikes which is expected around the corner.
    Design
From the teaser image, quite a few things are noticeable. For starters, the predominance of orange colour in many functional parts of the bike like the alloys and the frame. Plus the extremely horizontal rear fender clearly shows it has taken some inspiration from the KTM counterparts.

The bikes have been spotted testing on Indian as well as European roads on multiple occasions. The visual highlights in the teaser image were not visible earlier in the spied images. However, the front suspension is found to be coloured in gold.
The updated G 310 twins will all carry a newly designed headlamp unit and an altered digital instrument console as well. The overall shape of the headlamp unit is similar but the cluster carries a new sportier design with integrated LED DRLs. The new bikes are visibly sharper and muscular than their mellowed BS4 predecessors. It also sports a reconfigured exhaust pipe. Though there are no official details of the spec around the bike, it is expected to be high on features.
    Powertrain

As far as powertrain is concerned, both the G 310 twins are expected to be powered by a BS6 updated 313cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder motor which returned output of 34 PS of power and 28 Nm of peak torque in its BS4 form. This is the same unit that powers TVS Motor’s flagship product- the Apache RR310. This engine will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. For the uninitiated, the BMW G 310 Twins are manufactured locally at TVS Motor’s Hosur facility. The bike duo shares its powertrain as well as its platform with the Apache RR310.
    Expected Launch
The updated G 310 twins are expected to be significantly cheaper than their BS4 counterparts. In their BS4 versions, G 310 R and G 310 GS were offered at an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.99 lakh and Rs 3.49 lakh. The G 310 R is a naked streetfighter whereas the G 310 GS is an adventure tourer motorcycle. Upon launch, the former will compete with the likes of KTM 390 Duke. Whereas, the G 310 GS will take on the likes of KTM Adventure 390 and Royal Enfield Himalayan. We can expect the bikes to be out in the coming few weeks. More

  • BMW G 310 R & GS BS6 launch soon – Bookings open at Rs 50,000

Rumours suggest that the new 2021MY BMW G 310 siblings will be priced substantially lower than their BS4 counterparts
Even though the Indian automotive industry shifted to BS6 norms in April 2020, BMW Motorrad India has not updated its bestselling products, G 310 R and G 310 GS to the higher emission specification. Towards the end of BS4 era, the German two-wheeler manufacturer had announced massive discounts for its entry-level G 310 siblings. In fact, certain dealerships had even offered price cuts over Rs 95,000 alongside a few cost-free riding gear or accessories.

Developed in partnership with TVS Motor Company, BMW Motorrad’s first modern single-cylinder motorcycle range was launched in India back in July 2018. Ex-showroom prices for the G 310 R streetfighter and G 310 R adventure tourer stood at Rs 2.99 lakh and 3.49 lakh, respectively. Among the wider segment of buyers, the figures seemed rather unreasonable especially since KTM India offered arguably better alternatives at lower prices.
At present, the all-new KTM 390 Adventure is easily the best choice among single-cylinder sports motorcycles. In terms of performance and equipment, lesser KTM India models also offer significant value for money. Further down the price ladder, Bajaj Auto’s Dominar 400 and Dominar 250 are excellent packages as well. Clearly, BMW Motorrad India has to rethink its pricing strategy to have an edge over the popular names in the 250-400cc motorcycle category.
    BMW G 310 R & G 310 GS BS6 – Bookings open

BMW Motorrad dealerships across the country have started accepting bookings for the 2021MY BS6 G 310 siblings at a token amount of Rs 50,000. Both motorcycles were spied on Indian roads on multiple occasions in partially disguised test mule avatars. Rumours claim that the BS6 G 310 duo will be launched at a substantial price drop in comparison to their phased-out BS4 counterparts.
From recent spy shots, it is evident that the motorcycles get a full-LED headlamp and turn signals, reworked tank design (G 310 R) and possibly new colour schemes. Other details include blue-lit digital instrument console (the RR 310 gets a coloured unit), ride-by-wire, dual-channel ABS, 41mm USD forks, 17-inch 5-spoke alloy wheels, etc. The G 310 R, G 310 GS and Apache RR 310 are made at TVS Motor Company’s Hosur manufacturing facility.
    Engine & specs
TVS Motor Company has already launched the 2020MY Apache RR 310 with an improved BS6 power plant. This would most likely be the same unit powering the upcoming BMW ‘starter bikes’.
    The flagship faired sportsbike employs a 312.2cc liquid-cooled DOHC ‘reverse-inclined’ single-cylinder engine good for 33.5bhp @ 9,700rpm and 27.3Nm @ 7,700rpm. It is coupled to a 6-speed transmission via a slipper clutch.
