After catering to younger audiences ever since its inception, Ather Energy is now foraying into family-oriented electric scooters where TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak have been actively gaining market share.Ather RiztaThe company’s biggest rival is Ola Electric with their slew of S1 electric scooters, Rizta has to compete to the highest level to make a name for itself. At Rs. 1.1 lakh (ex-sh), Rizta is a better proposition than other Ather electric scooters sold under 450 range. The headline Rs. 1.1 lakh is for the base S variant with 2.9 kWh battery and the top-spec Z variant will cost Rs. 1.24 lakh for 2.9 kWh battery and Rs. 1.44 lakh for 3.7 kWh battery variants (all prices ex-sh).While Rizta S gets 3 colour options, Z trim takes the total colours to 7, including 3 monotone and 4 dual tone shades. The new design language is akin to family scooters too. For starters, Ather Rizta has gone with a minimalist approach and has created a modern-looking scooter. Even though it looks slightly inspired by its arch-rival TVS iQube, the overall design and aesthetics have a certain uniqueness that stands out from other electric scooters on sale in India.[embedded content]Rear LED tail lights, the largest seat in India at 900mm long, flat floorboard, rear pillion backrest, 34L under seat storage, 22L optional flexible frunk, wireless charger for Ather Halo helmet and pillion backrest are notable elements. We can see an appealing handlebar panel and front mudguard. Side body panels have minimal creases and look quite soothing.Powertrain and hardwareThe instrumentation is handled by a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment screen that we have seen with 450X and 450 Apex. Initial speculations suggested the same LCD panel as 450S, but that isn’t the case. This cluster runs on AtherStack 6 and supports smartphone integration, notifications, Google Maps, Whatsapp integration and alerts among others.Ather Rizta Under Seat StorageComponentry includes an underbone chassis that is derived from 450’s chassis, RSU telescopic front forks, disc brake at the front and drum brake for rear and 12-inch alloy wheels at both ends shod with MRF rubber. Rizta gets something called Ather Skid control, like a traction control system. Other notable safety features include Fallsafe, ESS (Emergency Stop Signal), Theft & Tow Detect, Find My Scooter and others.Ather Rizta launched, packs a 2.9 kWh battery with base S variant and a larger 3.7 KWh battery for top-spec variant. True Range is 105 km with 2.9 kWh battery and 125 km with 3.7 kWh battery-equipped variants. Automotive enthusiast Nihar Amrute has shared the images of the upcoming Ather Rizta in our Rushlane Spylane Facebook Group. By the looks of it, Rizta seems to be out for a TVC shoot and that’s when these images were papped.Ather Rizta TVC ShootWe can see a clean and uncluttered design with a minimalistic approach. But there is a bulk associated with Rizta that we didn’t see with 450 range of athletic scooters. This bulk is owing to a larger frame that will be far more practical and accommodating than the 450 range. Large ORVMs and large dashboard are notable elements too.In that regard, we can see a large seat that Ather is marketing to the full extent and even set up a giant billboard in Mumbai. Design is iQube-ish, but has its own unique take. We can see sleek rear tail lights, a large grab handle for pillion and a pillion backrest. This backrest is less likely to be a standard fitment.Ather Community Day 2024Powertrain details are not yet out and is likely to feature the same components as 450S, owing to its expected affordable price tag. Ather is demonstrating the safety of their battery by various marketing stints including a 40-feet drop and water wading tests. Among the e-scooter manufacturers, Ather seems to be the one with the safest track record too.Componentry will not be as premium as 450 range. So, the rear disc brake is missing on Rizta and we don’t expect it to feature an aluminium chassis as well.     Two Wheeler Sales March 2024 – Hero, Honda, TVS, Bajaj, Suzuki, Royal Enfield

    Honda ActivaHero MotoCorp and Honda continued to lead the segment commanding a combined 51% total market shareIndian’s two-wheeler segment continued to show off a strong performance in March 2024 with positive sales demonstrated both in terms of domestic sales and exports. Taking the leading 6 two wheeler makers into account Hero MotoCorp and Honda lead the segment by significant margins over TVS Motor, Bajaj Auto, Suzuki and Royal Enfield.Two Wheeler Domestic Sales March 2024In domestic markets, sales grew by 15.24 percent YoY to 14,13,152 units, up from 12,26,262 units sold in March 2023. It was however a MoM decline by 2.44 percent over 14,48,479 units sold in February 2024.Once again, leading this list was Hero MotoCorp despite an 8.65 percent YoY dip in sales. Sales fell to 4,59,257 units, down from 5,02,730 units sold in March 2023 relating to a 43,473 unit volume de-growth. It was however a 3.14 percent MoM growth from 4,45,257 units sold in February 2024. Bringing in these sales figures were commuter motorcycles – Splendor, Glamour, Passion. Sales are about to be boosted with the new Xtreme 125R premium motorcycle, the company’s latest addition in the 125cc segment.Honda secured a No. 2 spot with an 81.33 percent YoY growth in domestic sales to 3,58,151 units while its MoM performance lacked lustre with 13.48 percent de-growth over 4,13,967 units sold in February 2024. Honda crossed the 6 crore domestic sales milestone in March 2024 ever since it went solo in 1999. A diverse range of products catering to every need of Indian buyers is what has stood it in good stead.Two Wheeler Sales March 2024 – DomesticTVS also posted an 8.20 percent YoY growth but a 2.61 percent MoM decline to 2,60,532 units. Bajaj Auto and Suzuki have both seen both YoY and MoM growth to 1,83,004 units and 86,164 units respectively. Royal Enfield also ended March 2024 on a promising note with a 10.29 percent YoY growth to 66,044 units while its MoM performance declined by 2.76 percent from 67,922 units sold in February 2024.Two Wheeler Exports March 2024Bajaj Auto saw the highest sales in global markets in March 2024 to 1,30,881 units shipped in the past month, up 38.18 percent over 94,715 units exported in March 2023. MoM exports also improved by 5.42 percent with Bajaj Auto commanding a 43.44 percent share on this export list.TVS exports improved by 25.66 percent YoY but fell by 7.08 percent on a MoM basis to 83,914 units. Hero MotoCorp followed with 31,158 units shipped in the past month relating to an 87.56 percent YoY and 34.57 percent MoM growth. The company also took over from Honda, which was the 3rd best-selling OEM in February 2024 with 44,744 units exported in the said month.Two Wheeler Sales March 2024 – ExportsSuzuki (17,505 units) and Royal Enfield (9,507 units) both posted YoY decline in exports but improved on a MoM basis. Two wheeler exports improved by 31.31 percent YoY to 3,01,269 units while MoM sales fell by 1.06 percent in March 2024.Two Wheeler Total Sales (Domestic + Exports) March 2024Cumulative two wheeler sales for March 2024 reached a total of 17,14,421 units, a 17.77 percent YoY growth from 14,55,700 units sold in March 2023 but a 2.20 percent MoM decline over 17,52,985 units sold in February 2024.Hero MotoCorp headed the list with a total of 4,90,415 units sold in March 2024 relating to a 5.57 percent YoY decline but 4.70 percent MoM growth to command a 28.61 percent share. Showing off outstanding performance was also Honda with a massive 82.31 percent improvement in sales to 3,86,455 units while TVS sold 3,44,446 units both in domestic and export markets last month with 11.99 percent YoY growth but 3.73 percent MoM decline.Two Wheeler Sales March 2024 – TotalBajaj Auto (3,13,885 units) and Suzuki (1,03,669 units) each posted YoY and MoM growth in total sales. Royal Enfield trailed this list with 75,551 units sold last month relating to a 4.59 percent YoY growth but marginal 0.51 percent MoM dip in sales. More

    TVS Motor Sales March 2024 – Apache, XL, Jupiter, iQube, Raider

    TVS JupiterAnalysing the TVS Motor sales March 2024 charts, we can see that there was a MoM decline across all the entries, except for 3W Domestic salesOne of India’s leading 2W and 3W manufacturer, TVS Motor, posted an impressive 3,54,592 units total sales in the month of March 2024. The company garnered this sales number across multiple vehicle genres like motorcycles, scooters, e-scooters, mopeds and 3W-wheelers. While the company witnessed commendable YoY growth, there was a slight MoM decline as well.TVS Motor Sales March 2024Breaking the numbers further, we have motorcycles at the top and e-scooters at the bottom. With 1,71,611 motorcycles sold, this genre of vehicles took the top position with 49.82% of TVS’ total sales. Some of the most popular motorcycles from TVS include Apache range, Raider 125, Sport, Radeon, Ronin and more.When compared to the 1,41,250 units sold in March 2023 and the 1,84,023 units sold in February 2024, TVS motorcycles saw 21.49% YoY growth and 6.74% MoM decline. Volume growth YoY stood at 30,361 units and volume loss MoM was 12,412 units.In 2nd place, we have scooters with 38.17% of TVS’ total sales. Sales stood at 1,31,472 units last month and registered a 2.06% YoY growth over 1,28,817 units sold last year and a 0.51% MoM decline over 1,32,152 units sold a month before. Thus leading to volume growth of 2,655 units YoY and losing 680 units MoM. Leading scooters are Jupiter, Ntorq and iQube.TVS Motor Sales March 2024 – YoYWhen we say mopeds, it is the XL 100 range that sold 41,363 units and there was a 10.32% YoY growth and 0.65% MoM decline and accounted for 12% of company’s sales. iQube range of scooters sold 15,250 units and fell into the red completely with a 0.74% YoY decline and a substantial 15.08% MoM decline.Exports & 3W salesTVS sold 2,60,532 2W vehicles in the domestic market and accounted for 75.64% of company’s total 2W sales. 2W domestic sales saw 8.2% YoY growth and a 2.61% MoM decline. Exports took 24.36% of TVS’ total 2W sales with 83,914 units shipped last month and gained 25.66% in sales YoY, but also witnessed a 7.08% MoM decline.Total 2W sales were 3,44,446 units with 11.99% YoY growth as opposed to 3,07,559 units sold a year ago and a 3.73% MoM decline when compared to 3,57,810 units sold a month before. TVS’ 3W sales stood at 2,088 units in domestic market and 8,058 units shipped abroad. 3W domestic saw 56.4% YoY and 1.06% MoM growth, while 3W exports declined by 2.42% YoY and 5.73% MoM.TVS Motor Sales March 2024 – MoMIn total, TVS sold 10,146 3W vehicles in India with 5.76% YoY growth gaining 553 units in volume and 4.41% MoM decline losing 468 units in volume MoM. TVS’ total domestic sales (2W+3W) stood at 2,62,620 units and total exports (2W + 3W) was 91,972 units. When compared to total domestic sales growth of 5.76%, company’s total export growth of 22.57% was more notable.In total (2W + 3W), TVS managed to push 3,54,592 vehicles out of its manufacturing facilities across motorcycles, scooters and mopeds in both domestic and international business. When compared to the 3,17,152 units sold in March 2023 and 3,68,424 units sold in February 2024, TVS witnessed 11.81% YoY growth and 3.75% MoM decline. Volume growth YoY was 37,440 units. More

    Bajaj Auto Sales March 2024 – 2W and CV Sales Increase YoY and YTD

    Bajaj ChetakBajaj Auto has posted significant growth both in terms of 2W and CV domestic sales and exports on a YoY basis while YTD exports dipped in both categoriesThe month of March 2024 showed off positive sales for Bajaj Auto Limited with a 25 percent overall growth in sales. Sales increased both for the company’s 2W and CV lineups and also in terms of domestic sales and exports. Sales (Domestic + Exports, PVs + CVs) went up significantly to 3,65,904 units in March 2024, a growth of 25 percent from 2,91,567 units sold in March 2023. It was also a MoM growth from 3,46,662 units sold in February 2024.The two-wheeler maker is set to expand its portfolio with a new bike that is currently doing the test rounds. It is not yet confirmed if it is the Pulsar N125 or Dominar 125 but is surely a commuter bike as it was seen with conventional telescopic forks and disc-drum brake combo.Bajaj Auto Sales March 2024In the two-wheeler segment, Bajaj Auto reported a 20 percent growth in domestic sales to 1,83,004 units. Exports saw an even higher percentage growth of 38 percent to 1,30,881 units shipped in March 2024, up from just 94,715 units exported in March 2023. This took total sales of two-wheelers to 3,13,885 units in March 2024, up 27 percent when compared to 2,47,002 units sold in March 2023.Commercial vehicle sales of the Pune-based Bajaj Auto have seen a 9 percent rise in domestic markets to 37,389 units in March 2024 from 34,235 units sold in March 2023. It was exports that grew exponentially by 42 percent to 14,630 units in the past month from 10,330 units shipped in the same month last year. Thus combining both domestic sales and export figures of CVs, it was an improvement by 17 percent YoY to 52,019 units from 44,565 units sold in March 2023.Bajaj Auto Sales March 2024 – YoYTotal 2W and CV sales, both segments displayed commendable progress but it was exports that showed off higher percentage growth. Domestic sales improved by 18 percent YoY to 2,20,393 units in March 2024 while exports were higher by 39 percent YoY to 1,45,511 units to a total of 3,65,904 units, a growth of 25 percent over 2,91,567 units sold in March 2023 relating to a 74,337 unit volume growth.Bajaj Auto Year-to-Date Sales FiguresTaking into account cumulative year-to-date (YTD) figures, Bajaj Auto showed off a mixed bag during the period April 2023 to March 2024. The two-wheeler major did exceedingly well in terms of 2W and CV domestic sales while exports suffered a setback.Two-wheeler domestic sales surged by 25 percent to 22,50,585 units in the April-March 2024 period when compared to 18,05,883 units sold in the same period of 2023. Exports however, fell by 10 percent to 14,77,338 units in the April-March 2024 period from 16,36,956 units sold in April-March 2023 taking total sales in this segment up 8 percent to 37,27,923 units from 34,42,839 units sold in the same 12 month period of 2023.Bajaj Auto Sales March 2024 – YTDCommercial vehicles also showed significantly higher sales in domestic markets which grew by 54 percent YTD to 4,64,138 units during the April-March 2024 period from 3,00,734 units sold in the same period last year. Global sales, however, dipped 14 percent to 1,58,872 units thus taking total sales up 28 percent to 6,23,010 units in the April to March 2024 period from 4,85,018 units sold in the same period of 2023.Combining both 2W and CV segments, Bajaj Auto showcased a mixed performance in the year-to-date sales for April to March 2024 with domestic sales being higher by 29 percent to 27,14,723 units while exports suffered a 10 percent decline to 16,36,210 units YTD. Cumulative total sales thus improved by a moderate 11 percent to 43,50,933 units in the April to March 2024 period from 39,27,857 units sold in the same period of 2023 relating to a 4,34,076 unit volume growth.     Royal Enfield Sales March 2024 – Classic, Bullet, Hunter, Meteor, GT 650

    Royal Enfield Hunter 350The company recently expanded its exports by launching Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650 and Shotgun 650 in North America and Bullet 350 in JapanBeing India’s de facto classic motorcycle manufacturer, Royal Enfield, has been touching new heights where sales are concerned. The company has been inching ahead beating its own sales numbers in the domestic market YoY. However, there was a MoM decline in domestic market. Where exports are concerned, there is a MoM growth, but YoY decline.Royal Enfield Sales March 2024The iconic motorcycle manufacturer, Royal Enfield, has been one of the most influential brands in Indian motorcycling scene. Especially the Bullet name is synonymous with classic motorcycles in India and the company enjoys a cult following. In March 2024, Royal Enfield sold 66,044 units in the domestic market.When compared to the 59,884 units sold in March 2023, Royal Enfield registered 10% YoY growth. That said, there were 67,922 units sold in February 2024 resulting in a 2.76% MoM decline. In FY 23-24, Royal Enfield sold 8,34,795 units in the domestic market. As opposed to the 7,34,840 units sold in FY 22-23, the company witnessed a very healthy 14% YoY growth over last FY. Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter 350 and Meteor 350 are some of the best-sellers in India.Where exports are concerned, Royal Enfield’s shipments for the month of March 2024 stood at 9,507 units. Although it is higher than February 2024’s 8013 units shipped witnessing an 18.65% MoM growth, Royal Enfield saw a 23% YoY decline owing to the 12,351 units it shipped last year.Royal Enfield Sales March 2024Exports grew MoM, dipped YoYYTD, Royal Enfield exports stood at 77,937 units in FY 23-24, which couldn’t hold a candle to the 1,00,055 units shipped in FY 22-23. Thus resulting in a 22% YoY decline over last FY. Royal Enfield has recently launched the 650 Twins, Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650, along with Shotgun 650 in North American market. While Bullet 350 was launched in Japan.In total, Royal Enfield pushed 75,551 units out of its manufacturing facilities last month. When compared to the 72,235 units from last year, it was a 5% YoY growth. When compared to the 75,935 units sold a month ago, there was a marginal 0.5% MoM decline. YTD, the company sold a total of 9,12,732 units, which is a whole 77,837 units higher than the 8,34,895 units sold in last FY.Statement from Royal EnfieldSpeaking about the performance for March 2024, B Govindarajan, CEO, Royal Enfield said, “At Royal Enfield, we’ve had yet another year of very spectacular performance across the board. We have outpaced our pre-COVID numbers and have registered healthy growth. We have outgrown the two-wheeler and motorcycle industry in the domestic market.All our motorcycles in the last two years have performed exceedingly well and have grown the market for Royal Enfield. Our non-motorcycling business including Apparel, spares and GMA continues to grow significantly.     Hero MotoCorp Sales March 2024 – Splendor, Passion, Xtreme, Glamour

We’re talking about YoY and MoM growth across most aspects like motorcycles, scooters, domestic and international businesses. It was green all the way for India’s largest 2W manufacturer where MoM sales are concerned.Hero MotoCorp Sales March 2024The 2W juggernaut of the world, Hero MotoCorp, managed to push out a total of 4,90,415 units last month including domestic and export markets. With 4,56,724 motorcycles sold last month, Hero MotoCorp witnessed a 6.38% YoY decline over 4,85,896 units sold in March 2023. However, this was a 4.33% MoM growth over 4,36,929 units sold in February 2024.Where scooter sales are concerned, Hero has registered a positive YoY growth with 33,691 units. However, this growth is by the skin of the teeth with a 0.73% YoY boost, gaining 245 units in volume. When opposed to 31,481 scooters sold a month before, Hero saw a 7% MoM growth.Hero’s domestic sales stood at 459,257 units last month. As opposed to 5,02,730 units sold last year and 4,45,257 units sold a month before, Hero’ domestic sales witnessed a 9.4% YoY decline and 3.04% MoM growth.Hero MotoCorp Sales March 2024Company’s exports almost doubled in volume YoY which was the same remark we made last month while analysing February 2024 sales. This is a good trend for Hero to maintain and continue to expand their presence in global markets. Hero shipped 31,158 units last month which was almost doubled when compared to 16,612 units sold a year ago with 87.57% YoY growth.As opposed to the 23,153 units shipped in February 2024, Hero’s exports grew by 34.57% MoM. In total, Hero pushed out 4,90,415 units out of its manufacturing facilities. The company’s primary volume generators continue to be budget commuter motorcycles like Splendor, Glamour, Passion and the likes. The company has expanded its premium motorcycle range with the launch of Xtreme 125R.Tremendous Gains In FY 23-24YTD, the company sold 51,90,672 motorcycles in FY 23-24, surpassing the 49,59,156 units sold during FY 22-23. Where scooters are concerned, Hero sold 4,30,783 units in FY 23-24 over 3,69,390 units from last FY. In total, Hero MotoCorp sold 56,21,455 units with a positive growth over 53,28,546 units sold in previous FY.Hero MotoCorp registered a 10% growth in 4th quarter of FY 23-24. The company’s sales performance in international business (exports) is commendable with 16% growth in FY 23-24. Emerging Vida brand, the recent product offensive in its premium motorcycle lineup have contributed in this effect. More
