Kijima Modified Yamaha XSR125The 124cc single-cylinder SOHC liquid-cooled engine on Yamaha XSR125 makes 14.7 bhp and 11.5 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearboxYamaha XSR125 has quite a fan following in ASEAN nations. The neo-retro theme of the bike has garnered quite an interest from buyers and aftermarket modders alike. We have covered quite a few custom jobs on Yamaha XSR range and they look very radical. Here’s how Kijima modified Yamaha XSR125 looks like.Kijima Modified Yamaha XSR125 Looks RadAt the 2024 Tokyo Motorcycle Show, renowned aftermarket parts manufacturer, Kijima, showcased a custom demo model of Yamaha XSR125 and the theme they went for was of an Urban Street Tracker. Needless to say, Tracker style mods on neo-retro motorcycles almost always yield appealing results and Kijima’s build was no different.Kijima Yamaha XSR125 Tracker StyleFor starters, Kijima’s approach to a Flat Tracker style is a rather subtle one as we have seen quite a few flamboyant Tracker-style builds. So, the headlight from stock motorcycle remains and so do most of the bike’s body panels. Kijima’s approach here is to subtly amplify and complement stock bike’s look, rather than establishing a completely different identity.Kijima has amplified XSR125’s appeal with custom round aluminium TECH12 ORVMs with fancy ORVM stalks or stems, there is a new fly-screen finished in a multi-colour striped theme, we have a beefy metallic bash plate for engine protection, contrasting colour for handlebar grips, stylish LED turn indicators and we can see a brown seat cover too.Kijima Yamaha XSR125 FlyscreenThere are a lot of chrome bits from Kijima like radiator cover gets a chrome finish, a chrome Tracker-style handlebar with brace bars, a stylish and retro chrome rear grab handle, chrome chopped front fender and the likes.Added functionalities and featuresKijima has also ensured that there are a few functionalities added to Yamaha XSR125 as well. There is a USB charger, there is a helmet lock along with two luggage mounts emerging from rear pillion foot peg area for added practicality. Tyres have been upsized and are fancier Pirelli Scorpion Rally STRs.Kijima Yamaha XSR125 HandlebarThe motorcycle shown by Kijima is for reference and might be commercialized in the future. The custom rear tail-tidy, new Teal paint job with Kijima stickers lend a unique appeal. The bike is now more off-road worthy thanks to new tyres and added protection to bike’s underbody with a bash plate.Kijima Yamaha XSR125 Bash PlateRest of the Yamaha XSR125 appears to be stock. So, we get the same Diamond frame holding a liquid-cooled SOHC 124cc single-cylinder engine capable of generating 14.75 bhp of peak power at 10,000 RPM and 11.5 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 RPM, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Cycle parts include USD telescopic front forks, rear mono-shock, front and rear disc brakes and the likes.Kijima Yamaha XSR125 Tail Tidy More

Ola Swappable Battery Patented – Applications On Scooters, Bikes, Rickshaws?

Ola Swappable Battery PatentedWhen launched, Ola Swappable battery tech will rival Hero Vida’s twin swappable battery and Simple Energy’s single swappable battery technologiesIndian 2W market has witnessed respectable growth in electric mobility transition in the recent past. Leading this transition is Ola Electric with its S1 range of electric scooters. However, Ola Electric has huge ambitions and the company is foraying into multiple niches within electric mobility. Company’s recent patents reveal swappable battery technology as well.Ola Swappable Battery PatentedIndian electric two-wheeler market is vastly gravitated towards electric scooters than any other body styles. Electric motorcycles are rather few and don’t clock as many sales as electric scooters. So, if a manufacturer is developing a new EV technology, it is highly likely to go on the vehicles that bring in the most volumes.Ola Swappable Battery PatentedBringing Ola Electric into the picture, the electric mobility solutions provider has recently patented swappable battery tech. Currently, Ola only sells S1 range of electric scooters and is on the verge of developing electric motorcycles, electric 3W rickshaws and 3W cargo vehicles. The company is highly likely to offer swappable battery tech with their scooters as they are well-established (India’s best-selling electric 2W range) and have the most potential to make it mainstream. That said, their upcoming electric motorcycles and electric 3W CVs might come equipped with swappable batteries too.Ola ADV BikeOla’s patented design has a nice handle to carry the battery with OLA branding. As of now, the battery capacity or battery chemistry of Ola’s new swappable battery pack is unknown. Also unknown is whether Ola is using their indigenous battery cells in this pack. More details might surface in the future.Application with CVsOla is foraying into electric 3W segment and the company’s recent design patents confirm these speculations. There is an electric rickshaw for last-mile mobility and an electric 3W cargo vehicle for last-mile delivery. Both applications require minimal downtime. With swappable batteries, business owners can ensure maximum uptime.Ola Electric Rickshaw CVAlso, batteries can be offered as a service where buyers don’t have to shell out a hefty up-front cost. With swappable battery tech, an electric vehicle can go from minimum to maximum SOC in a matter of minutes, bypassing charging time. Ola has also patented an electric scooter for commercial purposes and this swappable battery makes a lot of sense for it.Application with PVsCurrently, Hero Vida is the only mainstream brand that is fully invested in swappable battery tech. Honda’s upcoming electric scooter is also likely to go fully swappable battery direction as well. Simple Energy offers one fixed battery and one swappable battery.Ola Cyber Racer Top VariantSwappable batteries have their perks in PV segment. With a swappable or removable battery, charging for an apartment dweller gets a lot more convenient. Considering most EV owners charge their vehicles overnight, swappable batteries make EV ownership a lot easier. Also read – Ola’s commercial scooter design patented More
