2021 Suzuki GSX S1000 Debuts With More Power, Revised Looks

2021 Suzuki GSX S1000The new Suzuki GSX S1000 shares its underpinnings and powertrain with its faired supersport sibling GSX R1000
Suzuki has unwrapped the all-new GSX S1000 with some serious upgrades both in terms of aesthetics and functionalities. The new-gen model of the hyper-naked speedster is slated to hit international markets starting June this year. Apart from a bunch of additional features and a heavily updated design, the litre-class bike also gets a Euro-5 upgraded engine.
    More Aggressive Styling
Starting with the styling, new GSX S1000 looks much more aggressive and sharper than its predecessor. The most notable highlight is a vertically stacked pair of mono-focus LED headlights that outlines its aggressive nature. It is further accentuated by a muscular fuel tank design and the sharp and edgy lines of the cowling.
The bike looks beefier thanks to the fuel tank and its extensions which neatly integrate into the bikini fairing and a textured radiator shroud. In the process, the tank can now hold up to 19-litres of fuel instead of 17-litres in the outgoing model.
The silver-coloured winglets are another addition which not only enhances the bike’s brawny appeal but also improves its aerodynamic qualities. Other distinct elements include body-coloured alloy wheels and razor-sharp body panels that distinguish the new model from its predecessor.
    2021 Suzuki GSX S1000
Barring the new LED taillamp unit, the raised tail section of the naked streetfighter has largely been carried over from the previous model. While the riding stance still remains slightly committed with a lean-forward posture, a 23mm wider handlebar certainly makes it easier for longer commutes.
It will be offered in three colour options namely Metallic Triton Blue, Glass Sparkle Black and Glass Matte Mechanical Gray. other notable highlights include a step-up split seat and a compact exhaust canister.
    Features Galore
In terms of features, the bike is offered with a full LED lighting setup, an LCD instrument display and multifunction switchgear. Apart from this regular stuff, the new-gen GSX S1000 comes with a host of electronic aids under the Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S). This comprises a bunch of features including a five-step traction control system, a ride-by-wire throttle, a bi-directional quick-shifter, low rpm assist and three drive modes- A, B and C.
    2021 Suzuki GSX S1000
While A offers the most aggressive throttle response and power delivery, C offers the least aggressive response with linear power delivery. This mode is suitable when one expects higher fuel efficiency or while riding on wet or slippery surfaces. Even though power output remains the same in every mode.
    Better Performance
The heart of the bike has gone a fair bit of upgrade as well. It is propelled by a 999cc DOHC liquid-cooled inline four-cylinder motor that pumps out 150 bhp at 11,000rpm and a peak torque of 106 Nm at 9,250rpm. This is a bump of 5 bhp and 2 Nm over the outgoing model.
    [embedded content]
Mated to a six-speed gearbox with a new slip and assist clutch, Suzuki claims an improved top-end performance thanks to a new electronic throttle control system and a revised intake and exhaust mechanism helping it comply with the stricter emission norms. More

Royal Enfield Shotgun Name Registered – For New 650cc Cruiser?

Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser To be Named Shotgun? In addition to 650cc cruiser, Royal Enfield is also working on a 650cc roadster
With 650 twins Interceptor and Continental GT emerging bestsellers in both domestic market and abroad, it seems logical to experiment with new products in this segment. One of these will be the 650cc cruiser, which is expected to be launched by end of this year. In international markets, Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser will take on rivals such as Honda Rebel, Kawasaki Vulcan 650 and Harley Davidson Street.
Royal Enfield 650cc To Be Named Shotgun?
As per a filing, Royal Enfield has registered a new name, which could be for this upcoming 650cc cruiser or the roadster. Royal Enfield Shotgun is the name that has been registered. Speaking about the cruiser, the retro theme is clearly the primary focus, as can be seen with the round headlamp and rear view mirrors, broad rear fenders, chrome dual exhaust and teardrop shaped turn indicators.
Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser To be Named Shotgun?
Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser has a comfortable, upright riding stance with forward-set foot pegs. The motorcycle has a wide handlebar, mounted at a height that appears to be ergonomically comfortable.
It is likely that a large windscreen could be part of standard package or it could be offered as an accessory. A number of distinctive colour options are also expected for 650cc cruiser. Will it be called Royal Enfield Shotgun cruiser, that remains to be seen.
    Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser Spied
    Royal Enfield 650cc Shotgun engine
Powering 650cc Shotgun cruiser will be the same 648cc twin-cylinder, air/oil-cooled unit that does duty on Interceptor and Continental GT. The engine is capable of generating 47 hp of max power at 7150 rpm and 52 Nm of peak torque at 5250 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed constant mesh transmission. It is possible that engine output specs may be tweaked in accordance with the needs of the cruiser.
From the images, 650cc cruiser appears to be equipped with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels. This is the same setup used for Meteor 350. The motorcycle will have disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS will be offered as standard.
Talking about suspension, 650cc cruiser will have inverted telescopic front forks. It will be the first Royal Enfield motorcycle to get this feature. At the rear, the motorcycle will be using standard twin shock absorbers.
    Royal Enfield 650cc Cruiser Spied
Another key feature could be Tripper navigation, which is already available with Meteor 350 and updated Himalayan. Tripper navigation is all the more relevant for a cruiser. The system has a dedicated display on the instrument console for showing navigational directions. With Tripper navigation, the rider does not have to use their smartphone screen to get directions.
While the idea of a 650cc cruiser seems good in theory, it remains to be seen how well the market responds to it. To make it attractive for customers, Royal Enfield is expected to launch 650cc cruiser at a competitive price point. A price tag of under Rs 4 lakh on-road, sounds like a pretty good deal in this segment. More

Husqvarna Electric Motorcycle E-Pilen Concept Revealed

    Husqvarna Electric Motorcycle E-Pilen Concept
Husqvarna E-Pilen is expected to undergo production by late this year with a launch aimed at late 2021 or late 2022
With every other OEM venturing into electric mobility space, we often get to witness new designs and advent of some new technology even if it’s minuscule. The latest manufacturer is Husqvarna who plans to enter the emission-free auto world with the production version of E-Pilen Concept revealed recently.
Based on the unique and pioneering design of successful twins- Svartpilen and Vitpilen, E-Pilen Concept is the Swedish bikemaker’s first step into urban electric mobility. The company has ensured that the production-spec electric motorcycle will bear stark resemblances to the concept version showcased.
    Husqvarna Electric Motorcycle E-Pilen Concept
    Modern Design
The progressive design philosophy of Svartpilen and Vitpilen has been carried forward to the electric bike which features some distinct styling elements such as an exposed trellis frame, wide handlebars, a compact fuel tank and a round headlamp.
While a light paint scheme has been carried forward from Vitpilen, the tank rack has been inspired by Svartpilen. Other design elements included are inverted forks, mono-shock at rear, and a gullwing swingarm.
    Husqvarna Electric Motorcycle E-Pilen Concept
    Expected Powertrain Specs
It should be pointed out that the fuel tank houses the electric battery setup. The battery supplies energy to an electric motor with a rated capacity of 8kW (10.73 bhp). Although exact details of the powertrain are yet to be revealed, the company claims a modest range of 100km on a single charge. However, Husqvarna has assured that it will address the range anxiety issues of consumers by equipping E-Pilen with swappable batteries featuring a modular system.
    Husqvarna Electric Motorcycle E-Pilen Concept
Official statement from the company read as “It has always been the aim of Husqvarna Motorcycles to develop new products accessible to the broadest possible spectrum of riders. The E-mobility range will retain and continue the riding pleasure and dynamics refined through the long history and experience of the brand.”
    More Details
More details regarding E-Pilen will be revealed as the electric motorcycle nears its final production-spec version. Husqvarna’s Austrian cousin KTM has already ventured into electric mobility space with 5 kW SX-E and 16 kW Freeride E. If E-Pilen indeed undergoes production it can also pave the path for electric KTM Dukes. Motorcycles of both brands are manufactured at Bajaj’s manufacturing facility in Chakan near Pune, Maharashtra.
    [embedded content]
In fact, Bajaj and KTM have been working together on a common electric platform that will underpin products ranging from 3kW to 10kW electric motors using a 48V electric system. Also, it was reported a couple of months back that KTM and Husqvarna are developing an all-new electric scooter as well which will be based on Bajaj Chetak Electric. We can expect E-Pilen to be launched late this year or early next year. More

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Scrambler Spied With Himalayan

Royal Enfield Hunter 350Upon its launch, Royal Enfield Hunter 350 will be competing against the likes of Honda H’Ness CB350, Jawa Forty Two

The new-gen Classic 350, Hunter 350 and a couple of new 650cc retro motorcycles are some of the new models expected to hit showrooms in the coming months.
The new Classic 350 is most likely to be the next big launch from Royal Enfield, although which model it will be preceding is yet to be known. Jawa Perak Matte Green Colour Custom Paint Job At Authorized Dealer

    Jawa Perak Matte Green
Jawa Perak is currently retailed at a price of Rs 1.98 lakh (ex-showroom) and has no direct rivals in the Indian market
Jawa Perak holds a unique distinction in India for being the only proper bobber-style cruiser motorcycle to be locally built in India. Although not a mass-seller, it caters to a niche segment of buyers who love traditional bobbers yet are not willing to shell out big bucks for a Harley Davidson, Indian Motorcycle or Triumph.
A local aftermarket workshop based out of Surat in Gujarat named Agozee Kustoms has given a Jawa Perak a new custom paint job. The stock Perak is only available in a solitary black paint scheme. The customization has been conducted for a Surat-based dealership at a price of Rs 9,999.
    Custom Matte Green Paint Job
The motorcycle now wears a pine green paint as its primary colour with a thick stripe of white running on top of the fuel tank, around the central toolkit panel and across the front and rear fenders. It also gets a small ‘Perak’ branding on the fuel tank.
The white shade adds a nice contrast to the green paint and overall provides a fresh appeal to the bobber’s retro-style design. There are no other changes made to the classic bobber in any way.
    Jawa Perak Matte Green
    Perak Design
Like the regular Perak, the custom motorcycle adopts a blacked-out theme for all its mechanical components. The design is further accentuated by gold pin-striping on the fuel tank, side panels and fenders.
The most notable highlight though is the single-piece floating seat wrapped in tan brown leather giving Perak a classic bobber stance. Back bezels around headlamps, blacked-out handlebar and bar-end mirrors further provide a sporty contrast to the bike.
    Mechanical Specifications
Coming to its specifications, Perak is powered by a slightly larger 334cc single-cylinder engine in comparison to the 294cc unit in Jawa Standard and Forty-Two. This motor is capable of churning out 30 bhp and a peak torque of 32.74 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
    Jawa Perak Matte Green
Suspension setup comprises conventional telescopic forks upfront and a mono-shock at rear, mounted beneath the seat. Braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends which are assisted by a dual-channel ABS.
Perak also offers a slightly longer wheelbase in comparison to its other two siblings due to a larger rake to the front suspension unit. For its class of motorcycles, Perak is extremely nimble at 175 kilos of kerb weight. A similar custom paint job was performed by the same aftermarket workshop on Jawa Forty-Two a couple of months ago. In that case, it was wrapped in a sky blue colour with stripes of black across the body panels. More
