    2021 Royal Enfield Classic 350 Media Rides Start – Launch Soon

    Ahead of its launch towards the end of this month, the new generation Classic 350 official media rides have started. Automotive enthusiast Darane Dany has spotted the new 2021 Classic 350 in a new colour scheme ahead of its launch. As revealed in spy shots earlier, the new-gen model carried the same retro design of a modern classic motorcycle. However, it has undergone major changes underneath its skin.
    Same Retro-Style Design
    The new-gen Classic 350 retains its modern retro-style design of the outgoing models with signature elements such as a round halogen headlamp, teardrop-shaped fuel tank with rubber grips, tiger-eyed position lights, etc. The spring under the rider’s saddle in the upcoming model has been given a miss.
    It will also receive some new colour options such as Stealth Black, British Green and Glossy Grey. The Green Classic 350 gets a brown colour single seat while the grey and black Classic 350 get black seats.
    While some variants will don a signature chrome finish on mechanical components like handlebar, exhaust pipe and engine casing, others will sport an all-black theme. Some older colour options such as the Signals Edition will be carried forward in the new-gen model.

    Like the previous-gen Classic, the upcoming model will continue to be offered in single and dual-seat layouts. The dual-seat variants get a pillion seat as a separate unit with an integrated single-piece grab rail.

    The new model also sports a different alloy wheel design, one of them being dual-tone, while some variants still offer traditional wire-spoked wheels. Lighting is expected to remain a halogen setup.
    Hardware, Powertrain Updates
    The most notable update is an all-new J platform underpinning the new Classic 350. The new double downtube frame will be suspended on conventional telescopic forks at front and dual shock absorbers at rear. This new frame is expected to improve the overall ride quality and characteristics of the motorcycle. Braking will be handled by disc brakes on both wheels and assisted by a dual-channel ABS as standard.

    The new-gen Classic 250 will be powered by a new 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine which also propels Meteor 350. This powertrain develops an output of 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm of peak torque. It is coupled with a new 5-speed gearbox. The new motor is provided with a counter-balance shaft which reduces the vibration significantly.
    Features on offer
    In terms of features, the new Classic 350 will get a revised instrument console with an analogue speedometer and a digital odometer and fuel gauge. In addition, it will also receive a digital display for Tripper Navigation which offers turn-by-turn navigation when paired with the Royal Enfield App on the rider’s smartphone via Bluetooth. More

    Simple One Electric Scooter Bookings Cross 30k In 4 Days

    Bengaluru based, Simple Energy has launched their first ever product in the market. Called Simple One, this electric scooter is priced at Rs 1,09,999. Simple One is available in 75 cities across 13 states of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Kerala, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Punjab and pre-orders commence at Rs 1,947, directly via the company website.
    Simple Energy electric scooter is eligible for FAME 2 subsidy of up to Rs.60,000. However, actual price will vary state-wise depending on subsides offered by various State Governments. Earlier today, Simple Energy revealed that their Simple One electric scooter bookings since launch has crossed the 30,000 mark.

    Simple One is presented in colour choices of Brazen Black, Namma Red, Grace White and Azure Blue. It gets all LED lighting and a full colour, customizable 7 inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and 4G connectivity offering access to on board navigation, vehicle tracking and geo fencing.
    Simple One Electric Scooter
    It will receive over the air software updates. Simple One rides on 12 inch wheels, gets 30 liter under seat storage and weighs a total of 110 kgs. Access to music control and call control via the rider’s smartphone and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) are also among the features offered on Simple One.
    Range upto 236 km on Indian Driving Cycle (IDC)
    Launched on the same date as Ola S1 e-scooter, Simple One promises to excel over its competitor in terms of range. Simple Energy claims that its new e-scooter will have a range of 236 km on the Indian Driving Cycle, which is significantly higher as compared to 181 km range offered by Ola on the S1.
    Simple One gets a 4.8 kWh lithium ion battery pack that powers the electric motor to offer base output of 4.5 kW, peak output at 7 Kw and 72 Nm torque. It comes in with four ride modes of Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic with acceleration from 0 to 40 km/h in 3.05 seconds and a top speed of 105 km/h.
    Simple Energy states that the 4.8 kW battery pack will take less than 3 hours for charge from 0 to 80 percent via a home charger. Fast charging will allow the scooter to get a range of 2.5 kms for every minute of charging so a 10 minute charge will allow for a range of 25 kms.
    Simple One receives a tubular steel chassis and suspension and braking via telescopic fork in front and symmetrically mounted progressive monoshock at the rear with 200mm disc in the front and 180mm disc at the rear. The e-scooter gets combi-brake system and not ABS. Simple Energy have developed in-house, designed and patented both its braking system and powertrain.
    Simple Loop Charging Network
    Simple Energy has also introduced Simple Loop charging network for public charging facilities and home charging. Simple Loop claims capacity to charge upto 2.5 km in 60 seconds. These fast charging networks will be deployed pan India and the company targets 300+ charging stations in the coming months.     Kinetic Luna Electric Moped Launch This Year – 80 Kms Range Expected

    People born in the 1970s and 80s must be very familiar with Kinetic Luna. A 50cc moped with no frills and purely designed for average Indian middle-class family for an economical commute. It was coupled with easy-to-ride ergonomics with provision of bicycle-like pedals to propel it forward should it be needed.
    First introduced in 1972 by Kinetic Engineering, it was marketed in the United States as Kinetic TFR while the original Luna was a licensed copy of Piaggio Ciao moped. With tightening emission norms, Luna eventually died a slow death. With this, Kinetic Group also exited the Indian two-wheeler industry thereafter.
    Years later Kinetic made a return to the Indian automobile market as Kinetic Green which ventured into zero emission space by developing new electric three-wheelers and rickshaws. Kinetic Green claims that it is one of the leading players in electric three-wheeler space. Now, Kinetic intends to return to two-wheeler segment by bringing back the iconic Luna nameplate in a whole new avatar.
    More Details
    The reincarnated version of Luna is likely to run a battery power source. This development was confirmed by Ajinkya Firodia, MD of MotoRoyale and part of Kinetic Group on a social media platform. The electrified Luna could make its debut this year itself, probably in a month or two. Furthermore, the upcoming electric moped could feature swappable batteries.
    Modified Kinetic Luna by Slimline Customs
    Electric Kinetic Luna will be manufactured at the company’s new manufacturing facility at Ahmednagar in Maharashtra. This new plant is spread across 30 acres comprising four sheds, each spreading across 65,000 sq ft and has production lines that will cater to electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers as well as the Kinetic Lamborghini Buggy range.
    Expected Specs & Features
    The new electric moped will be powered by a humble 1kW motor which could derive its energy from a Lithium-ion battery pack. This powertrain is expected to return a range of 70-80km on a single charge and a top speed of around 25kmph.
    This means that it will be positioned in the slow-speed category, hence it won’t require any registration. Also, riders won’t be required to carry a driver’s license with them. Moreover, it is expected to be priced very aggressively within Rs 50,000.
    Meanwhile, reports say that a daily commuter is also in the works and might have a higher top speed as well as more amenities. It is speculated to be offered with features such as an electric self-start, LED headlights and DRLs, a digital instrument console, a USB charger and more.     Top 10 Motorcycle Sales July 2021 – Splendor, Pulsar, Apache, CB Shine

    Hero MotoCorp commanded the list with 4 of its models on the list of top 10 motorcycle in July 2021. Hero Splendor was in a No.1 position and the only bike in the company lineup on this list to post positive sales.
    Splendor maintains No 1
    Sales of Splendor stood at 2,50,794 units, up 17.52 percent over 2,13,413 units sold in July 2020. The Splendor held a 35.38 percent share in the past month. Hero Splendor is also the most affordable bike not only in the company portfolio but in the country and is priced at Rs 63,000.
    At No.2 spot was Honda CB Shine with 1,16,128 units sold in July 2021. This was a growth of 30.53 percent over 88,969 units sold in the same month of the previous year. CB Shine currently commands a 16.38 percent share. Honda also had the Unicorn at No. 7 with 5.53 percent YoY growth to 21,73 units, up from 20,213 units sold in July 2020.
    Hero MotoCorp also had HF Deluxe at No. 3 on this list with sales dipping 31.04 percent YoY. July 2020 had seen sales to the extent of 1,54,142 units which dipped to 1,06,304 units in the last month. Lower down the list was Hero Glamour and Passion at Nos. 9 and 10 respectively. Both suffered de-growth at 59.77 percent to 20,606 units sold in July 2021 and down 58.73 percent to 18,316 units respectively.

    Bajaj Pulsar, Platina and CT100
    Bajaj Auto Limited had three of its model, Bajaj Pulsar, Platina and CT100 on this list at Nos.4, 5 and 6. Negative sales growth was noted for the Pulsar and CT 100 down 11.84 percent and 17.21 percent respectively to 65,094 units and 27,962 units sold in July 2021 down from 73,836 units and 33,774 units sold in July 2020 respectively.
    Bajaj Platina at No. 5 showed better sales up 55.56 percent YoY to 54,606 units in July 2021, up from 35,103 units sold in July 2020. The Bajaj Platina 110 was updated for 2021 with new colour options. Platina 110 Drum variant is now available with Ebony Black – Blue, Ebony Black – Red, and Cocktail Wine Red – Orange. The Disc variant gets colour choices of Charcoal Black, Volcanic Matte Red, and Satin Beach Blue.
    TVS Motor entered the fray with the Apache at No.7, even as sales suffered de-growth of 19.12 percent to 27,228 units in the past month, down from 33,664 units sold in July 2020. Earlier this month, the company had hiked prices of TVS Apache range by upto Rs 5,000, but brought in no feature updates to justify this price increase.

    This is the second time this year that the company has increased prices across range, the first being in January 2021. However, despite this price hike, TVS Apache motorcycles continue to be competitively priced as against its rivals.

    Top 10 Scooters July 2021 – Activa, Access, Jupiter, Ntorq, RayZR

    In June 2021, it was the scooter segment that reported a de-growth while motorcycle sales soared. Fast forward to July 2021 and roles get reversed. In the past month, scooter sales have reported a 13.84 percent growth over sales in July 2020 while motorcycle sales dipped 5.33 percent YoY.
    Top 10 Scooters July 2021
    Total sales of top 10 scooters stood at 3,45,202 units, up from 3,03,255 units sold in July 2020. Once again, it was the Honda Activa that led sales charts with 1,62,956 units sold in the past month, up 37.10 percent over 1,18,859 units sold in July 2020.
    Activa sales alone were nearly equal to the total sales of the other 9 best selling scooters on the list. At No. 2 was Suzuki Access with a growth of 102.78 percent YoY. Sales in July 2020 which had stood at 23,171 units increased to 46,985 units in the past month.
    Next up was TVS Jupiter scooter with de-growth of 22.01 percent to 38,209 units in July 2021 over 48,995 units sold in July 2020. This was closely followed by TVS Ntorq with a 46.20 percent YoY growth at 23,983 units in the past month, up from 16,404 units sold in July 2020. TVS Ntorq has also been noting increased demand in Nepal markets and has achieved 50,000 unit sales milestone in Nepal within 3 years of launch in the country.

    The list of top 10 Scooter sales continued with the Honda Dio at No. 5. Sales dipped 44.66 percent YoY to 20,604 units in July 2021, down from 37,233 units sold in July 2020. Last month, Honda increased prices of the Dio scooter along with that of Activa 6G, Activa 125, Shine and SP 125 by Rs 1,237. The company did not state reasons for this price hike, but rising input costs would be the only reason as is being expressed by every other two wheeler maker in the country.
    This was followed by the Hero Pleasure at No. 6. Pleasure scooter sales stood at 17,713 units in July 2021, up 8.74 percent over 16,290 units sold in July 2020. The Burgman Street has seen higher demand in July 2021 with 10,104 units sold, up 84.62 percent over 5,473 units sold in July 2020.
    Lower down the order at Nos. 8, 9 and 10, were Yamaha Fascino (9,525 units), Hero Destini (8,070 units) and Yamaha RayZR (7,053 units) each of which posted de-growth down 17.77 percent, 38.79 percent and 41.38 percent respectively.

    The scooter segment is likely to face some competition with a range of new electric scooters being launched in quick succession. FAME II subsides and benefits offered by various State Governments will ensure more affordable pricing than their petrol powered counterparts.     KTM India Sales, Exports July 2021 – Duke, RC 125, 200, 250, 390 ADV

    Like every other two wheeler maker in the country, KTM India has also reported substantial growth in domestic sales in July 2021. Pent up demand, markets opening up and the urgent need for personal means of travel have all resulted in increased spending on two wheeler purchases. However, rising fuel prices, the looming fear of a 3rd wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and severe shortage of semi-conductors could hamper further growth.
    KTM India Domestic Sales
    KTM India’s domestic sales figures stood at 4,446 units in the past month, up 36.97 percent over 3,246 units sold in July 2020. This was also a MoM growth of 37.90 percent over 3,224 units sold in June 2021. In the company domestic lineup, it was the KTM 200 (Duke + RC) that was most in demand while the KTM 390 (RC + ADV + Duke) commanded the export list.
    KTM 200 sales increased 115.47 percent YoY to 2,019 units, up from 937 units sold in July 2020. The KTM 200 commanded a 45.41 percent share in July 2021, up from 43.55 percent share held in June 2021. KTM will soon be bringing in 2021 KTM RC 390, RC 200, RC 125 and images of these models get leaked showing off a brand new look.
    KTM 250 (Duke + ADV) has also noted increased YoY and MoM sales. Sales stood at 1,002 units in the past month, up 381.73 percent over 208 units sold in July 2020. It was also an 86.94 percent increase over 536 units sold in June 2021. Percent of share has also increased from 16.63 percent to 22.54 percent MoM.
    KTM India Sales, Exports Jul 2021 vs Jul 2020 (YoY)
    Domestic sales of KTM 125 (Duke + RC) have dipped substantially. July 2021 sales were at 749 units, down 59.45 percent over sales of 1,847 units in July 2020. MoM sales also fell 12.09 percent from 852 units sold in June 2021.
    The KTM 390 on the other hand received added attention with sales up 166.16 percent YoY to 676 units in July 2021 as against 254 units sold in July 2020 and up 56.48 percent MoM from 432 units sold in June 2021.
    KTM Exports
    Shipments to global markets fell in July 2021 by 34.50 percent to 6,832 units, down from 10,430 units exported in July 2020. MoM exports also fell 19.85 percent as against 8,524 units exported in June 2021.

    It was the KTM 390 (RC + ADV + Duke) that was most in demand in global markets despite de-growth on YoY and MoM basis. July 2021 saw exports of 2,791 units, down 51.65 percent over 5,772 units sold in July 2020. June 2021 sales stood at 3,800 units relating to a MoM dip of 26.55 percent. Percent of share also dipped from 44.58 percent held in June 2021 to 40.85 percent in the past month.
    KTM 200 (RC + Duke) sales increased 90.72 percent YoY to 2,075 units, up from 1,088 units shipped in July 2020. MoM sales however, suffered a de-growth of 19.39 percent over 2,574 units exported in June 2021.
    Exports of KTM 250 (RC + Duke + ADV) surged 627.71 percent in the past month to 1,208 units, up from 166 units exported in July 2020. It was also a 63.69 percent MoM growth over 738 units exported in June 2021. Exports of the KTM 125 (RC + Duke) ended on a negative note with just 758 units shipped in the past month down 77.73 percent over 3,404 units shipped in July 2020. MoM exports also fell 46.99 percent as against 1,430 units exported in June 2021. More

    Honda CB200X Adventure Motorcycle Launch Price Rs 1.44 Lakh

    Honda has its new adventure motorcycle CB200X in India today. The bike is based on the same platform and powertrain as Hornet 2.0. Launch price of the new Honda CB200X is Rs 1,44,500, ex-sh, Gurgaon.
    Like most entry-level adventure tourers, CB200X is a road-biased machine with some moderate off-roading capabilities. Unlike the other adventure tourers from Honda such as CB500X and Africa Twin, the CB200X will be sold through the company’s regular chain of dealerships.

    Design
    New Honda CB200X gets a similar angular, all-LED V-shaped headlamp as seen in Hornet 2.0. Other highlights include a black windscreen, a front-heavy faired body, a wider handlebar, engine protector and knuckle guards which housed turn indicators. Three colours are on offer with new CB200X. These are Red, Silver and Black.
    Most of the bike’s design cues are inspired by the CX-02 Concept revealed earlier in India. The tail section of the bike also gets LED lamps. It gets split-style seats and split pillion grab rails. The seats are contoured for better comfort over longer commutes.

    Features & Hardware
    In terms of equipment, the bike offers features such as an all-digital instrument cluster which is compatible with RoadSync tech for smartphone connectivity and navigation as well via Bluetooth headphones. It also gets the same golden-coloured front forks as seen in Hornet 2.0. Other attributes include high ground clearance, a long-travel suspension, high saddle height and a single-channel ABS.

    Speaking of hardware, it is based on the same chassis as Hornet. The platform is suspended on upside-down forks at front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at rear. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes on both wheels.
    Engine Specs
    The wire-spoked 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels are shod by knobby dual-purpose tyres for more grip during off-road riding. As mentioned before, CB200X is powered by the same 184.4cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine offered in Hornet 2.0. This motor is capable of generating 17 bhp at 8500rpm and 16.1 Nm of peak torque at 6000rpm while being mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

    New CFMoto 250cc Motorcycle Launch Soon As 250SR-R

    CFMoto will soon introduce a sportier iteration of its 250cc sports bike 250SR which made its global debut last year. The new motorcycle is called 250SR-R and its existence has been revealed through a type-approval document in China. Reports also indicate that there will also be a sportier derivative of 300SR named 300SR-R.
    The 300SR-R will make its debut following the official unveiling of its quarter-litre counterpart. The Chinese bikemaker has maintained the tradition of adding an extra suffix of ‘R’ for the more enthralling iteration of the sports bike. That said, both motorcycles get the same power source churning out the same output.
    Changes in Specs
    Powering 250SR-R is a 249.2cc single-cylinder engine that cranks out an identical 29 bhp as offered in 250SR. However, performance is better in comparison, thanks to a reduction in the bike’s kerb weight.
    While the latter weighs 165kg, 250SR-R tips the weighing scales at 157kg which is a significant drop of 8 kilos. This also results in a sizable improvement in power to weight ratio.
    CFMoto 250SR
    Reduction in weight has been achieved by adoption of some lightweight materials in elements like bodywork. The most notable update has been made to the bike’s hardware which gets a single-sided swingarm instead of a double-sided swingarm as offered in 250SR. To complement the swingarm are the front USD golden-coloured forks which is another cosmetic enhancement over the standard model.
    Other possible updates
    The changes in hardware on 250SR-R indicate that there could be more updates in its internals in comparison to 250SR. Another notable cosmetic upgrade includes the addition of a large pair of winglets on the sides of the fairing. They are either made of carbon fibre or wrapped in a carbon-effect finish to give the motorcycle a more premium appeal.
    Although an increase in downforce or reduction of weight at front end seems immaterial since it has less than 30 bhp on tap and a top speed of around 130kmph. As far as styling goes, 250SR-R is expected to retain its sporty and futuristic aesthetic with subtle variations. Like most models from CFMoto, the upcoming 250SR-R and 300SR-R have been designed by KISKA designs, the same folks who have created designs for all KTM models.
