      New Bajaj Dominar 400Despite being a well-equipped bike with sporty profile, Dominar 400 hasn’t been able to register strong sales
      Although Dominar 400 has no direct rival, it can be an option for folks considering other bikes like TVS Apache RR310, BMW G310R and KTM 390 Duke. To ensure it remains relevant to evolving customer expectations, Bajaj will soon launch an updated version of Dominar 400.
      The new units have started arriving at dealerships. New Dominar 400 could get a slight bump in its price. The current model is available at a starting price of Rs 2.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Dino’s Vault has now posted the first exclusive walkaround and review of the new 2022 Bajaj Dominar 400.
      New Bajaj Dominar 400 – First Look Review
      It is likely that new Dominar 400 will focus on cosmetic updates. It could get a new colour option and updated graphics. In its current form, the bike is offered in colour options of Aurora Green and Vine Black. Other updates could include a new flyscreen and knuckle guards. These could also be offered as an accessory. The new model with the larger flyscreen was recently spotted at a dealership. With improved wind protection, new Dominar 400 will be better equipped to tackle long distance journeys.
      Another key update could be connectivity features. The current model has LCD speedometer, but dedicated connectivity platform is not available. Connectivity features are all the more important for sports touring bikes such as Dominar.

      Most other things will be the same as the current model. Dominar 400 has a sinewy profile with minimal bodywork. The exposed, blacked-out engine assembly ensures a rugged look and feel. Both colour options are a perfect match for the bike’s powerful silhouette. While the Vine Black variant has an indifferent, brooding character, the Aurora Green variant looks more perky and exciting.
      Other key features of Bajaj Dominar 400 include full LED headlamp with modes of automatic headlamp on (AHO), position lamp, low beam and high beam. These allow the bike to effectively tackle a range of riding environments. In-built bungee straps are also provided, which improve the bike’s touring capabilities. The bike has a comfortable, upright riding stance with wide handlebars, making it suitable for touring purposes.
      New Bajaj Dominar 400 engine
      There are unlikely to be any changes to the engine. The existing model is powered by a 373.3 cc, liquid cooled, triple spark, single-cylinder motor. It is capable of generating 40 PS of max power at 8800 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
      The bike is equipped with slipper clutch, which ensures smooth gearshifts during fast deceleration. It also enhances the longevity of the transmission by protecting it from strong forces produced during engine braking.
      Dominar 400 utilizes a beam type perimeter frame. It has 43mm USD front forks and multi-step adjustable monoshock suspension with Nitrox at rear. Braking system comprises 320 mm and 230 mm disc at front and rear, respectively. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. More

      Aprilia RS 660 Delivery Starts In India – First Owner

      With the addition of two new bikes, Aprilia now has a total of four bikes in its India portfolio. The other two are its flagship V4 models, Tuono V4 and RSV4. These are priced at Rs 20.66 lakh and Rs 23.69 lakh, respectively. The Italian manufacturer also offers 125cc and 160cc scooters in India.
      Aprilia RS 660 styling and features
      For track experience, Aprilia RS 660 is probably one of the suitable bikes currently available in the Indian market. It is also the true-blue head turner on the streets. The bike has an aerodynamic profile and sharp design silhouette. Deliveries have now started. National level professional racer Alisha Abdullah has taken the delivery of first Aprilia RS 660 in India.
      Front fascia looks aggressive with features such as dual-beam LED headlight and integrated sleek LED DRLs. Other key features include large windshield, low-set, wide handlebar, sculpted fuel tank, underbelly exhaust, coloured wheels, and short tail.
      There are three colour options for Aprilia RS 660, all of which are truly unique and drool-worthy. Most exciting is Lava Red colour option, which utilizes a mix of dark blue and bright red. Another enticing option is Apex Black, which is essentially an all-black colour theme. It utilizes red highlights for a more vibrant look and feel.

      The third colour option is Acid Gold, which has a green-yellow paint. Golden USD forks are offered with all of these colour options. It works to enhance the bike’s sporty profile.
      Aprilia RS 660 engine and specs
      Both RS 660 and its naked sibling Tuono 660 are powered by a 659cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled motor. It is capable of generating 100 bhp of max power at 10,500 rpm and 67 Nm of peak torque at 8,500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
      RS 660 packs in a range of advanced features that were originally designed for a track environment. They have been tweaked to suit city ride conditions. Collectively, these features are available under Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC). The system works via various electronic components, acceleration sensors and gyroscopes.
      APRC package for RS 660 includes traction control, wheelie control, cruise control, engine brake during deceleration, engine map and cornering ABS with three levels of adjustment. Another key feature is quick shift that allows fast gear shifts without the need to reduce throttle or use the clutch. Users can also downshift without having to use the clutch.
      Suspension system on-board RS 660 comprises 41mm inverted front forks and monoshock suspension at rear. Braking apparatus has 320 mm double disc and 220 mm single disc and front and rear, respectively. Brembo callipers are used at both ends. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
      Price of Aprilia bikes is on the higher side, as they are imported into India as completely built units (CBUs). In comparison, bikes of similar capacity from Suzuki and Kawasaki are imported as CKDs. These work out cheaper, as taxation is less on CKDs as compared to CBUs. More

      TVS became the latest entrant in the 125cc commuter scooter category with the launch of Jupiter 125 a week ago. Although the company already had a strong presence in the 125cc segment with Ntorq, the latter caters to a more youthful section of buyers which demands more performance over practicality.
      Needless to mention but the 125cc scooter is one of the hottest two-wheeler categories in the country with multiple offerings from various brands. Some notable ones include Suzuki Access, Honda Activa 125, Hero Destini and Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi. It will be interesting to check how the latest offering from TVS stacks up against its immediate rivals mentioned above.

      All scooters are fairly simple in design with easy-to-ride ergonomics. They have been designed for satisfying the needs of an average Indian family and all do a decent enough job. All scooters receive decent under-seat storage and a flat and spacious floorboard to carry their luggage. However, Jupiter 125 gets the largest under-seat storage of 33 litres due to repositioning of its fuel tank.
      Other common amenities offered by all the scooters are an optional USB charger, a semi-digital instrument console, external fuel filler, LED DRLs storage lamp, etc. Most importantly, all models in this category offer an auto stop/start feature in their respective lingos. Further, Bluetooth connectivity is currently offered only on Access and Fascino whereas an engine kill switch is offered with Access, Jupiter and Activa.

      Mechanical Specs
      A side stand engine inhibitor is offered only in Fascino and whereas all barring Destini offer LED headlights. Speaking of specifications, all except Destini are offered with a disc brake at front while a drum brake is standard for all scooters in this category. Suspension setup in all five models is almost identical with telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear.
      In terms of performance, all deliver a similar range of output from their 125cc engines. However, Destini offers the maximum power with 9.1 PS while Jupiter has the lowest with 8.15 PS. Torque figures are also around a similar region. The extra power in Destini is compensated with its additional weight as it tips the highest at 113kg. Fascino is the lightest at 99kg and it shows in its on-road performance as well.
      Prices
      Coming to their prices, Destini is the most affordable offering in this space with prices starting at Rs 70,400 and maxing out at Rs 75,900. Fascino is the next most affordable scooter which can be availed between Rs 72,030 and Rs 75,530. Jupiter, Access and Acitva form the pricier end of this bracket.

      New KTM RC 200 Arrives At Dealer Showroom – First Look Walkaround

      Earlier this week, KTM India launched the new gen RC125 and RC200. These are priced from Rs 1.82 lakh and Rs 2.09 lakh respectively. In comparison, the older gen RC 125 was priced at Rs 1.8 lakh and the RC 200 was priced at Rs 2.08 lakh. All prices are ex-sh. In the next few days, KTM India is expected to launch the new gen RC 390. Bookings are already open at dealer showrooms.
      New KTM RC 200 – First Look Walkaround
      RC 200 boasts of new LED headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lights and integrated indicators. It also sports a new two piece front fender providing protection to both radiator and engine, foldable mirrors for a broader visual range, improved aerodynamics, clip on handlebars and two dual tone colour options of Black with Orange highlight and White with Orange highlight.
      KTM RC 200 receives a new LCD instrument console that is also seen on the KTM 250 Adventure. This console sports a blue backlit as against the orange backlit digital console seen on the earlier model.
      2021 KTM RC 200 gets a new ultra lightweight framework reducing kerb weight by 1.5 kgs over its earlier counterpart. The trellis frame and bolt on sub-frame allows for higher speed stability and increased rider confidence. New KTM RC 200 has started to arrive at dealer showrooms, as can be seen in the first look walkaround video shared by Rolling Peace.

      New KTM RC 200 – Engine Specs
      Just like the new gen RC 125, the new RC 200 also uses the same engine from before. It is powered by a 199.5 cc, liquid cooled, single cylinder engine. It has been tweaked to deliver better performance, acceleration and cooling.
      The engine is capable of 25.8 hp power and 19.5 Nm torque. It gets carbon coated cam levers for lower friction but added power. The piston is cooled using a nozzle that sprays on the head relating to longer life and smoother acceleration. KTM has also added a 40 percent bigger airbox to the new gen RC 200 that offers a crisper throttle response.
      The bike now sports a 320mm disc brake in the front and 230mm disc brake at the rear. Overall weight has been reduced due to a lighter chassis which is now 1.5 kgs lighter and 5 spoke alloy wheels that are 3.4 kgs lighter.
      However, despite lighter weight, the wheels are capable of quicker turn in track environment and better durability under street ride conditions. Weight reduction is also seen in the case of new brakes are also of lower in weight by 960 gms. The 2021 KTM RC 200 now weighs 151 kgs (dry). Deliveries of the new KTM RC range are to commence soon.       Top 10 Two Wheeler Exports Aug 2021 – Pulsar, Apache, FZ, Ntorq

      New Bajaj PulsarIn signs of global revival, two-wheeler exports have registered an impressive 37.33% jump in YoY growth
      A total of 3,70,822 units were exported in August 2021, as compared to 2,70,030 units in August last year. Bajaj and TVS dominate the top ten list of most exported two-wheelers. While Bajaj has four, TVS has three products in top ten. Just four of Bajaj two-wheelers command market share of more than 45%. TVS top three two-wheelers have close to 24% share in exports.
      Honda has two whereas Yamaha has one product in top ten. With the exception of Discover, all other two-wheelers in top ten have positive YoY growth. Even two-wheelers from 11th to 20th position have positive YoY growth in August.
      India’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp does not have any product in top ten in August. Its most exported product in August is Splendor, which is placed at 11th spot in the list. HF Deluxe is placed at 15th position.
      Bajaj Boxer leads
      Bajaj Boxer continues to be the most popular made in India two-wheeler in international markets. A total of 1,05,594 units were exported in August 2021. YoY growth is 9.72%, as compared to 96,242 units exported in August last year. Share in exports is at 28.48%. At number two in the list is TVS Star City 125 with exports of 68,860 units in August. YoY growth is at 62.41%, as compared to 42,400 units exported in August last year. Share in exports is at 18.57%.
      Two Wheeler Exports Aug 2021
      Bajaj Pulsar is third with exports of 34,243 units in August. YoY growth is at 19.61%, as compared to 28,628 units exported in August last year. Share in exports is at 9.23%. In domestic market, Bajaj is expected to introduce 250cc Pulsar. Two versions are expected, a naked NS250 and a semi-faired model named 250F. A fully-faired 250cc Pulsar could also be in the works. However, this has not been spotted yet.
      At number four is Bajaj CT with exports of 17,670 units in August. YoY numbers have more than doubled, as compared to 7,968 units exported in August last year. Percentage share in exports is at 4.77%. TVS Apache is fifth with exports of 14,161 units in August. YoY growth is at 114.24%, as compared to 6,610 units exported in August last year. Share in exports is at 3.82%.
      Hunk and Navi register impressive gains
      Placed at 8th and 10th position, Honda Hunk and Navi have YoY growth of 197.43% and 143.66%, respectively. Share in exports is at 1.75% and 1.50%, respectively. Hunk exports are at 6,484 units whereas Navi has 5,570 units.

      Other two-wheelers in top ten export list in August include Bajaj Discover, Yamaha FZ and TVS Ntorq. Discover has registered exports of 11,480 units, which is YoY de-growth of -26.71%. Exports in the corresponding period last year were at 15,664 units. Discover share in exports is at 3.10% in August.
      Yamaha FZ is at 7th place with exports of 9,108 units. YoY gain and share in exports are at 39.44% and 2.46%, respectively. Ntorq has 5,600 units, which is YoY growth of 75.05%. Share in exports is at 1.51%. More

      BMW G310 Production Crosses 1 Lakh In Under 5 Yrs – From TVS Plant

      TVS Motor has announced the roll out of 100,000th unit of BMW Motorrad’s 310cc series of motorcycles from its manufacturing facility based out of Hosur in Tamil Nadu. The bikemaker manufactures G 310 models- R and GS for BMW which are retailed in the local market as well as exported to overseas markets.
      In 2013, both TVS and BMW Motorrad joined hands and signed a cooperation agreement to develop and produce sub-500cc motorcycles for the global market. This has led to the development and launch of three motorcycles based on the 310cc platform- the two BMW models mentioned above and TVS Apache RR 310.
      1 Lakh Milestone In Under 5 Years
      All three models are assembled at the same Hosur-based facility. This plant produces around 10 percent of BMW Motorrad’s volumes globally. Production of the BMW G 310 twins started in late 2016 and the company has been able to achieve the 1 lakh mark within five years. 50,000th milestone was achieved in Dec 2018.
      Speaking on occasion Markus Schramm, Head of BMW Motorrad, said, “Our strong synergies with TVS Motor Company have led to the development of impressive offerings in the sub-500cc segment. Since their launch, both BMW G 310 R and BMW G 310 GS single-cylinder models continue to enjoy unrivaled popularity.”

      He further added that BMW Motorrad’s G 310 R and G 310 GS are two agile all-rounders and an integral part of the German marque’s success story. BMW G 310 siblings, as of now, are retailed in 120 countries across the world.
      Mechanical Specs, Features
      Powering these bikes is a 312cc, single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that pushes out 34 bhp at 9,500rpm and 28 Nm at 7,000rpm. The motor is coupled with a six-speed gearbox which now gets an assist and slipper clutch as standard. Cycle parts of both motorcycles are identical. Suspension duties on both models are carried out by 41mm upside-down forks at front and a mono-shock linked to the swingarm at rear.
      Braking on both models are handled by single disc brakes at both ends complemented by a dual-channel ABS. Common features offered in the G 310 series are full-LED lighting, digital instrument cluster, ride by wire throttle and multiple ride modes. Both bikes are offered in three colour options each with Polar White being the common paint scheme.
      Prices
      Other options include Cosmic Black and Style Sport on G 310 R and Rally Style and a special 40 Years GS Edition for G 310 GS. The naked streetfighter is priced at Rs 2.50 lakh whereas the adventure tourer can be had at Rs 2.90 lakh (ex-showroom).       Ampere Magnus EX measures 1,920mm in length, 685mm in width and 1,120mm in height. It gets a wheelbase of 1,390mm and ground clearance of 147mm. Maximum load capacity stands at 150 kgs. Magnus EX gets a detachable 60V, 38.25Ah Advanced Lithium Battery which can be charged via a 5 amp home/office/plug on the wall charging point.

      Its 121 km range per charge offers the rider an economical ride while it highly capable battery offers both increased power and better performance. It also gets best in class driving speed of upto 53 km/h while its 1200 watt motor is among the highest in capacity in its segment. Magnus EX also receives 2 modes of Eco Mode and Power Mode.
      On board features include keyless entry, vehicle finder, an anti-theft alarm system, a wide seat for better rider comforts and legroom space of 450mm.       Ampere Vehicles is setting up an electric two-wheeler plant in Ranipet in Tamil Nadu. The plant is set to commence production by the end of this year. Current production of electric two wheelers being carried out at Coimbatore will also shift to Ranipet. Production capacities, which currently stand at 60,000 units per annum, are set to touch the 1 lakh unit mark by the end of this year.       With enhanced aesthetics, Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth Edition could compete better with rivals such as Suzuki Gixxer, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and Honda X-Blade. Launch of new Xtreme 160R Stealth variant is in line with the company’s strategy to continually refresh its portfolio.
      Earlier this month, the company had launched Xpulse 200 4V (4-valve engine), Pleasure Plus Xtec (improved styling and features), and Maestro Edge 125 (with Hero Connect system). It is priced from Rs 1,16,600, ex-sh. Stealth Edition brings several additional first-in-segment features such as integrated USB charger and LCD brightness adjustment. It also gets a new gear indicator feature on the speedometer.

      Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth key updates
      It is likely that Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth will get a new dark shade in matte finish. The primary objective will be to enhance the bike’s dominating road presence. Front fascia could be slightly tweaked to achieve that look. For a sportier feel, the bike will get graphics in contrasting shade. The wheel rims will have strips in contrasting shade. There could be other similar highlights on the headlamp cowl, engine, frame and rear tail section.
      Dark shade for Xtreme 160R will definitely improve the bike’s sporty profile. In its current form, the bike is offered in three dual-tone colour options. These are Sports Red (black and red combo), Pearl Silver White (black and white), and Vibrant Blue (black and blue). The bike is also available in 100 Million Limited Edition. This utilizes a combo of white and red on the front cowl, fuel tank and tail section.

      Apart from aesthetic updates, Xtreme 160R Stealth will be largely the same as the standard model. The bike has a muscular profile, LED headlamp, sharp DRLs, sleek LED turn signals, sculpted fuel tank, compact sporty exhaust, integrated pillion grab, short tail section and unique H-shaped LED tail lamp. Most components including the engine assembly, frame, exhaust pipe, and alloy wheels have a blacked-out look.
      The bike has an LCD instrument console, which displays a range of information. Xtreme 160R customers can opt for Hero Connect that offers a range of connectivity features across vehicle safety and user safety. Hero Connect is available as an option for Rs 4,999. Other key features of Xtreme 160R include hazard lights, auto sail technology, and side stand engine cut-off.
      Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth will be powered by the same 163 cc, air cooled, single cylinder, OHC engine. It is capable of generating 15 bhp of max power at 8500 rpm and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh transmission. The bike offers best-in-class acceleration, with 0-60 kmph achieved in just 4.7 seconds. It weighs 138.5 kg with single disc and can carry 12 litres of fuel.
