Honda NT1100 Patent Filed In India – Launch Likely In 2022

New Honda NT1100Specific details of Honda launching NT1100 in India isn’t available as of now – If launched, it will be retailed through the BigWing chain of dealershipsAfter filing patent for new CBR150R, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) have filed design patents for its flagship touring motorcycle NT1100. The big touring machine from the Japanese auto giant made its global debut in October 2021 and is based on the CRF1100L Africa Twin. The patent application is dated around the same time as the international debut of NT1100.NT1100 is a premium Grand Tourer (GT) which is a road-biased derivative of the brand’s flagship adventure bike. The tourer borrows some of its styling and mechanical attributes from its ADV sibling. However, it has been specifically designed for munching long miles.Honda NT1100 Patented – DesignLike many other contemporary sports tourers, NT1100 shows shades of an ADV bike in its styling. Upfront, the motorcycle flaunts dual-pod headlamps on the apron with integrated LED DRLs and a heavily faired front end. On top of that, it features a large windscreen that is five-way adjustable for height and angle and it is aided by wind deflectors on either side.Underneath the front fairings, NT1100 features fog lights on either side. Other styling highlights include a large radiator shroud, split seats, a single-sided double-barrel exhaust muffler and a single-piece grab rail that extends to form a large luggage mounting rack at the tail section. The international-spec model gets side pannier boxes as standard fitment but the India-spec model could get them as official accessories.Honda NT1100 Patent Filed in IndiaFeatures on offerThe grand tourer packs all features one could ask for in a two-wheeler at this spectrum. These include amenities like a 6.5-inch TFT touchscreen display that offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Bluetooth connectivity options.Apart from this, Honda offers a wide range of rider aided electronics including Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC), Wheelie Control and multiple riding modes namely Urban, Rain, Tour and two other customisable modes.Hardware, Powertrain SpecsNT1100 is based on the same chassis that underpins the Africa Twin ADV and comprises a steel, semi-double cradle frame with a bolt-on aluminium subframe. This chassis is suspended on 43mm Showa USD forks at front and a Showa mono-shock at rear. However, in comparison to its adventure sibling, suspension travel has been lowered by 150mm on each end.2022 Honda NT1100Braking is handled by 310 mm twin discs with radially-mounted callipers at front and a single 256 mm disc at rear. The braking setup is aided by a dual-channel ABS. The sports tourer rolls on 17-inch front and rear wheels as opposed to 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels setup in its ADV sibling which results in a lowered saddle height of 820mm.Powering the NT1100 is the same 1,084cc liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that also propels CRF1100L. This motor pumps out 101 bhp at 7,250rpm and a peak torque of 104 Nm at 6,250rpm. The sports tourer is available in two variants-NT1100A and NT1100D. The former is available with a 6-speed manual gearbox whereas the latter is equipped with a 6-speed DCT automatic gearbox.Source More

RE Himalayan Scram 411 Red, White, Black Colours – Arrives At Dealer

Royal Enfield Himalayan Scram 411Royal Enfield is expected to launch Scram 411 in coming days at a starting price just below Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom)Royal Enfield presently has multiple products in development. These are scheduled to launch in the coming months. The next big launch from the Chennai-based bikemaker is Scram 411 which is essentially a road-friendly version of Himlayan. First units have now arrived at dealer showrooms.Test mules of Scram 411 have been spied on numerous occasions in recent times. Recently, a few crucial details regarding the upcoming scrambler had been leaked on the internet. Ahead of its launch, which is expected in a few days, the bike has been spied in new colours of Red and White as well as Red and Black. As customary with any Royal Enfield launch, apparel of the upcoming Scram 411 including T-shirts, key chains, etc. have started reaching dealerships ahead of its market launch. The latest spy shots reveal the undisguised avatar of Scram 411. The design is evidently similar to its more adventure-friendly sibling- Himalayan on which it is based.RE Himalayan Scram 411 – DesignFor starters, Scram 411 gets the same body and basic silhouette as Himlayan with a hint of retro styling. Components such as round headlight, rearview mirrors, wide handlebar, fork gaiters and sculpted fuel tank have been carried forward from Himalayan. One major variation from the off-road Himalayan is that the road-biased Scram gets a single-piece seat instead of split seats.RE Himalayan Scram 411Also, the black headlamp casing has been molded from cast iron which gives it a distinct appearance. It also doesn’t feature a tall windscreen upfront which is offered as standard in Himalayan. The latter also receives a small luggage rack as standard at the rear which is replaced by a simple single-piece grab rail. Scram 411 also features an urban badge plate on both sides of the fuel tank with its branding which lends the bike a distinct appeal.Turn indicators in the upcoming bike appear to be of a slightly different shape. While both motorcycles feature a similar side-slung upswept exhaust, the canister in Scram gets a slightly different look. Like Himalayan, Scram 411 also rides on wire-spoked wheels which adds to the retro charm Royal Enfield is known for.Hardware, Engine SpecsHowever, while Himalayan gets a 21-inch front wheel, Scram receives a 19-inch front unit due to road-friendly dynamics. Speaking of dynamics, the same suspension setup used in Himalayan comprising telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear is likely to be offered but with different travel settings. The wheels are wrapped around by block pattern, dual-purpose tyres which should be good enough for some soft-roading.RE Himalayan Scram 411Braking duties will be handled by 300 mm and 240 mm discs at front and rear respectively aided by a dual-channel ABS as standard. Powering Scram will be the same 411cc single-cylinder air-cooled SOHC engine that propels Himalayan. This motor kicks out 24.3 bhp and 32 Nm of peak torque and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. However, power and torque delivery is expected to be tuned slightly differently for road-biased mannerisms.Source More

Royal Enfield Hunter 350 SpiedRoyal Enfield Hunter 350 will primarily rival the likes of Honda CB350 RS and Yezdi ScramblerTo maintain its lead in middleweight motorcycle segment, Royal Enfield has a number of new products lined up for launch. One of these is a 350cc scrambler. Although an official announcement has not been made, Royal Enfield’s new 350cc scrambler is likely to be named as Hunter 350. This name has already been registered in India.RE Hunter 350 styling and featuresMost of the existing Royal Enfield 350cc bikes have a lot of bulk, which helps create a strong street presence. Hunter 350 is different in that it is relatively much compact. It will be a lot more fun to ride on busy city streets, as compared to its beefier 350cc siblings like Classic 350 and Meteor 350.For the scrambler look and feel and ride experience, Hunter 350 has received a thorough trimming all across. Fenders have been shortened, seat is a slimmer single piece unit and exhaust gets compact and stubbier. Side profile is all skeletal and even the utility boxes are seamlessly integrated without any unsightly protruding bits.Even with the changes, Hunter continues with the core retro DNA of Royal Enfield motorcycles. It’s evident in features such as round headlamp and rear-view mirrors, teardrop shaped fuel tank, and round turn indicators and tail lamp. Other key features include fork gaiters and spoke-styled alloy wheels.New Royal Enfield Hunter 350Users can expect a comfortable, upright riding stance with Hunter 350. The bike has ergonomically placed handlebar and centrally positioned foot pegs. Low seat height will ensure better handling and control. With its compact profile, the bike will also be suitable for smaller individuals. In comparison to other Royal Enfield bikes, Hunter 350 could be a better option for women as well. It will be primarily targeted at the young generation. The bike gets standard telescopic forks at front and dual gas-charged shock absorbers at rear. Braking system comprises disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS as standard. Hunter 350 engine and specsRE 350cc scrambler will be borrowing much of its hardware from Meteor 350 and new-gen Classic 350. Both these bikes utilize the new J1D platform, which offers a range of benefits. Engine is also new, a 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled OHC unit that generates 20.2 bhp of max power and 27 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. New video shot by Pradeep on Wheels, shows the Hunter 350 doing highway testing at over 120 kmph.[embedded content][embedded content]With the new chassis and engine, vibrations have been reduced significantly in Meteor and new-gen Classic 350. Hunter 350 can be expected to provide a similar experience. Other key features on-board Hunter could include Tripper navigation system. This was first introduced with Meteor 350 and is now available with some other RE bikes as well. A USB charging port could also be standard with Hunter 350.Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is expected to be launched in H1, 2022. It could be positioned above Meteor 350 and Classic 350 in the company’s line-up. Apart from the Yezdi and Honda CB350 RS, it will also rival the Bajaj Dominar and upcoming Triumph 350cc. More

Electric Scooter Sales Jan 2022 – Ather Vs Chetak Vs iQube

New Bajaj ChetakClose fight between Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube continues in 2022 – the latter was ahead in 2021In 2021, TVS iQube had posted annual sales of 5,976 units. This was more than Chetak’s sales of 5,071 units. The battle continues in 2022 with iQube registering sales of 1,529 units in January. This is the highest ever monthly sales of iQube in the last 12 months. This is also the second consecutive month, wherein iQube sales are in four digits. In comparison, Chetak sales are at 1,268 units in January 2022. This is the highest monthly sales for the scooter in last 12 months. Rising sales is an indication that an increasing number of users are now coming forward to make the switch from petrol to electric. It also shows that situation on the supply side may have improved, as compared to a few months back.Electric Scooter Sales Jan 2022 – Ather vs Chetak vs iQubeAll three, Ather, Chetak and iQube have made impressive gains in terms of YoY and MoM growth. Ather YoY growth is at 366%, and leads the sales charts for Jan 2022 with 2,825 units sold. Chetak YoY growth is 4127%, as compared to 30 units sold in January last year.iQube has registered gains of 625%, as compared to 211 units sold in the corresponding period last year. Taken together, the combined YoY growth of Ather, Chetak and iQube is 563%. This is quite encouraging not only for Bajaj, Ather and TVS but also for the entire electric two-wheeler industry.Electric Scooter Sales Jan 2022MoM sales growth of Chetak is 74.18%, as compared to 728 units sold in December 2021. iQube MoM growth in January is 26.16%, as compared to 1,212 units sold in December 2021. Combined MoM growth rate of these sooters is 44.18%. In the last 12 months, average monthly sales work out at 526 units for Chetak and 608 units for iQube.iQube’s price advantageBoth Chetak and iQube are quite similar in terms of their key performance indicators. For example, range is 90 km for Chetak and 75 km for iQube. Top speed is around 80 kmph for Chetak and 78 kmph for iQube. Chetak offers IP67 water protection whereas iQube’s battery is packed in high strength aluminium extrusion casing to make it resistant to water and dust. Both scooters have non-removable batteries. There is not much difference in charging time as well. Battery warranty of 50,000 km or 3 years (whichever is earlier) is the same for both scooters.Chetak vs iQube sales last 12 monthsA significant advantage that iQube enjoys over Chetak is its affordable pricing. For example, iQube costs approximately Rs 1.01 lakh in Delhi (inclusive of FAME II subsidy). In comparison, Chetak price in Delhi is close to 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom). It is apparent that users with limited budgets are likely to choose iQube.Although Chetak and iQube sales have improved in recent months, they still have a long way to go. Other manufacturers such as Hero Electric, Okinawa, Ather and Ampere are comfortably ahead in this space.Competition is expected to intensify in future with the likes of Hero MotoCorp, Honda, Suzuki and Yamaha planning to launch their respective electric two-wheelers. Chetak and iQube will also have to face the growing threat from startups such as Ola Electric, Simple Energy, Tork Motors, etc. More
