      Top 10 scooters sales account for a total of 5,03,717 units sold last month over 4,74,918 units sold in the same month last yearTVS JupiterScooter sales show steady growth in September 2022. If we take a look at top 10 2W sales that we covered recently, Splendor takes the top spot with Activa brooding down its neck. Activa is one of the most successful names in the industry which is only second to Splendor in 2W sales. If analysing scooters, Activa is the top dog.With 2,45,607 units sold, Activa sales went up by a small margin over 2,45,352 units sold last year. With a volume growth of 255 units, Activa saw a mere 0.10% YoY growth. Sheer sales of Activa ensure that it enjoys 48.76% of this top 10 scooter list. Activa is by far the highest-selling product in Honda’s arsenal.Top 10 Scooters Sep 2022TVS Jupiter sales were at 82,394 units last month. TVS registered a solid 46.25% YoY growth while volume growth stood at a staggering 26,055 units. Jupiter commands a 16.36% market share among scooters in this list. TVS Jupiter is the highest-selling product from TVS and in the festive season, has garnered good sales.Suzuki Access takes 3rd spot with 46,851 units and registers 4.02% YoY growth over 45,040 units sold in September 2021. Volume gain stood at 1,811 units and has a 9.30% market share. In 4th place, we have the sportiest of the 125cc scooters, TVS NTORQ. This is TVS’ 2nd product in this list and sold 46,851 units in September 2022 and registered a 6.94% growth YoY.Scooter Sales September 2022Dio is Honda’s second product on this list with 29,994 units sold last month. With 34,557 units sold in September 2021, Dio lost 4,563 units and registered a drop in sales of 13.20% YoY. Hero’s highest-selling scooter, Pleasure doesn’t seem to be having all that fun as it saw a drop in sales of 9.08% YoY with a volume loss of 1,966 units. Sales stood at 19,682 units over 21,648 units in September 2021.Hero’s second product on this list, Destini fares better YoY when compared to Pleasure. With 14,951 units sold over 12,358 units sold in September 2021, Destini registered 20.98% YoY growth with volume growth of 2,593 units.Pep+ Takes 10th PlaceAt 8th place, we have Suzuki’s Burgman Street which is the only maxi-styled scooter on this list. With 12,875 units sold last month, Burgman registered 48.52% YoY growth over 8,669 units sold in September 2021. Volume growth stood at 4,206 units. Apart from Ola, we recently witnessed Hero MotoCorp’s entry into this segment with Vida V1 series of electric scooters.We also have Ather, TVS, Bajaj, Hero Electric, Okinawa and a lot more companies. A Bengaluru-based startup called Simple Energy has launched its Simple One electric scooter in India to take on above-mentioned rivals. Simple One deliveries have not yet started.Simple Energy Trademarks New NamesSimple Energy has applied trademarks for a slew of products including Simple Two, Simple Three, Simple Four, Simple Five, Simple Six, Simple Seven, Simple Eight, Simple Nine and Simple Ten. Simple Vision, Simple Vision 25 and Simple Galaxy have also been trademarked.12 new trademarks have been applied. Most of these trademarks are still not approved. However, trademarks Simple Six, Simple Eight and Simple Nine have been accepted recently. It is not yet clear if Simple Energy is readying products in the immediate vicinity that would don these names.Simple Energy Trademarks Multiple New NamesSimple One electric scooter promises a lot of oomph. When pitted against rivals, Simple One trumps all with its largest-in-class battery and highest-in-class torque promising longest-in-class range from a single charge.Simple One gets a 3.3 kWh fixed battery as well as an optional removable 1.5 kWh battery. This innovative solution takes its total battery capacity to 4.8 kWh. Drawing juice front his battery is an electric motor making 8.5 kW of peak power and 4.5 kW of continuous power. Range is an astounding 236 km from the fixed battery and 300 km from the optional removable battery (claimed).Simple One DeliveryThe electric scooter startup has not been able to commence deliveries even in October 2022. Originally, Simple One delivery timeline was promised for July 2022. Which was postponed to September 2022. That didn’t materialise for the company and launch was postponed to October 2022.Simple Energy Trademarks Multiple New NamesThis is October 2022 and now, the delivery timeline has been pushed further to 1st quarter of 2023 (January to March). Latest postponement is attributed to various battery safety-related updates set by MoRTH (Ministry of Road Transport and Highways). These guidelines for EV manufacturers come in light of multiple EV fires that took place across the country. But it is prepping to rival Hero’s upcoming XPulse rumoured with a 400cc+ engine.2023 Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 – Render4. Continental GT-R 650Continental GT 650 is currently Royal Enfield’s sportiest and arguably, prettiest motorcycle as well. With the Cafe Racer charm, it is a very desirable motorcycle for many. Unique to Scram 650, we have a brand-new header pipe that routes exhaust gases through a single exhaust. This gets a scrambler-ish design language with minimal body panels. Name is not yet official.       New Ather 450X Electric Scooter With More Power Leaks – Is It Gen 4?

      Gen 3 made 6.2 kW of peak power in Warp Mode, Gen 4 Ather 450X is rated to make 6.4 kW of peak power in Warp ModeAther Electric ScooterIf you thought that Gen 3 Ather 450X marked the height of Bengaluru-based company’s R&D department for some time, you’re in for a surprise. We have come across an NCT type approval for a new 450X. This shows Ather’s relentless approach toward pushing out new electric scooters.This new document shows 450X as the base model even though that is less likely as 450 Plus is their base model. There are two settings, which indicate Gen 4 Ather 450 Plus will be launched alongside Gen 4 Ather 450X. Let’s take a look at all the changes.Gen 4 Ather 450X Homologated?Gen 4 battery capacity is still 3.66 kWh (Nickel Cobalt based). Which was up from 2.6 kWh of 450X Gen 2. Ather seems to have incorporated beefed-up cooling systems over the Gen 3 model. A beefier casing is also a possibility. We say this because Gen 3 battery pack used to weigh 19 kg in total, while Gen 4 battery pack weighs 22 kg.Even though the battery chemistry or cells seems to be the same, Gen 4 Ather 450X will come with more oomph. How much more oomph? One might ask. Gen 3 made 6.2 kW of peak power in Warp Mode, Gen 4 is rated to make 6.4 kW of peak power in Warp Mode. Sport Mode makes 5.8 kW, Ride Mode is rated at 3.2 kW, Smart Eco Mode is rated at 2.3 kW and Eco Mode is rated at 1.9 kW in terms of peak power.Gen 4 Ather 450X HomologatedThere is a “Setting 2” that is mentioned in the document which is likely to be Gen 4 Ather 450 Plus. This doesn’t get Warp Mode and the power figures for the rest of the modes are similar to “Setting 1” which is Gen 4 Ather 450X. Continuous power is now 3.1 kW in Warp Mode, down from 3.3 kW. Range for Setting 1 is 146 km and 108 km for Setting 2 which are largely similar to gen 3 products.Dimension ChangesAther is reportedly working on a new affordable model to rival Ola S1. It will have a smaller battery and fewer features. This new development is unlikely to be the aforementioned affordable model. Ather calls this 450X which is the company’s top-spec vehicle till now. This is likely to be a generational change like we saw with Gen 3. Just too early in the life cycle.Gen 3 had zilch changes to its dimensions over Gen 2. That is not the case with Gen 4 Ather 450X. Length is similar at 1,837 mm. Width is now 739 mm over 734 mm in Gen 3. Overall height is now 1,114 mm, down from 1,250 mm of previous generation. With Gen 4 Ather 450X, wheelbase has gone up by 1 mm.Looking at these changes, Ather could have gone for 10” wheels instead of 12”. Or this new 450X could very well offer a sporty and committed posture too, owing to its revised height. Whatever it is, that is cooking at Ather’s labs, will break cover in the coming months.       Top 10 two wheeler sales in September 2022 grew marginally; Hero Splendor maintain lead as bestselling motorcycleTVS ApacheCumulative wholesales for Top 10 Two Wheelers Sep 2022 grew marginally. At 2.57 percent growth, sales were up at 11,73,214 units from 11,43,810 units. Volume gain stood at 29.4k units.Yet again Hero Splendor stood atop the sales chart at 2,90,649 units. At 4.82 percent growth, up from 2,77,296 units, volume gain stood at 13,353 units. Given the sheer volume of Splendor sales, the model accounted for almost a quarter of all sales in the top 10 list.Two Wheeler Sales Sep 2022Splendor is closely followed by its one true nemesis, the evergreen Honda Activa. While motorcycles dominate the sales chart, Activa has broken through such cliches and established itself as a top two-wheeler choice, generation after generation. In fact, its sale potential is so high, it’s the only 2W that has on occasion outsold Splendor.Honda Activa sales last month barely gained at 2,45,607 units, up from 2,45,352 units. Volume gain stood at 255 units. The most sold scooter’s market share at the top of the order stood at about 21 percent.Top 10 Two Wheelers Sep 2022Honda CB Shine further helps strengthen the manufacturer’s strong position in the marketplace. CB Shine motorcycle sales were up marginally at 2 percent. Sales stood at 1,45,193 units up from 1,42,386 units at volume gain of 2.8k units.Bajaj Pulsar sales visibly improved. In fact, its gain is the highest in the top order. This however is on account of YoY low base sales. Pulsar wholesales in September 2022 stood at 1,05,003 units, up from 57,974 units. Volume gain stood at 47,029 units at 81.12 percent growth. Hero HF Deluxe sales fell by 30.43 percent. Volume loss stood at almost 41k units as sales fell to 93,596 units from 1,34,539 units.Jupiter, Apache, Access salesTVS Jupiter scooter is the brand’s bestseller these days. Its sales are stronger than the Apache series as well as XL 100, which at one time was the undisputed sales topper for TVS. It is decently sized, decently proportioned and comes off as a well-rounded package.When we compared TVS Raider 125 with Keeway SR125 and Bajaj Pulsar NS125, the former comes off as the most balanced product. With segment-first features like a fully-digital instrument cluster, LED headlight and taillights, and unique DRLs to name a few. Rivals in this cut-throat segment are less forgiving and Hero MotoCorp came up with Passion XTEC with connectivity features as well.Now, the Hosur-based company is set to pull an ace through its sleeves and has teased a large display for updated Raider 125. TVS had promised an updated Raider 125 with a 5” colour TFT screen. Dubbed “The Wicked Update” for Raider 125, TVS has a couple of options to execute this feat. Updated Raider 125 is likely to get TVS’ Smart Xonnect Bluetooth connectivity that enables navigation and voice assistance, as teased by TVS themselves.Currently, TVS Raider prices start from Rs. 90K for drum brake variant and Rs. 95K for disc brake variant. Another way to look at this would be that a 5” single-unit colour TFT display is unheard of in a sub Rs. 1 lakh 125cc commuter. It is capable of making 11.22 bhp at 7,500 RPM and 11.2 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 RPM. It gets mated to a 5-speed gearbox.Pricing might cross the Rs. 1 lakh mark and even go to Rs. 1.05 lakh with updated Raider 125. With features like turn-by-turn navigation, music controls, calls alerts and notifications, updated Raider 125 comes off as a more appealing product than Passion XTEC by Hero MotoCorp. With a slight setback, Yamaha has braced itself for the all-important festive season.Yamaha has kept itself busy and has generated headlines with Yamaha India Trackday at BIC for R3, R15, MT15, Aerox and FZ owners. For the month of October 2022, Yamaha is creating headlines again. This time, for a different reason, though. A price hike. Let’s take a look.Yamaha Oct 2022 Price HikeLast known price hike was at the beginning of August 2022. That one was a comprehensive hike that affected most of Yamaha’s portfolio except for drum brake equipped models of Fascino. Yamaha October 2022 hike doesn’t affect a lot of products. Only a handful.Yamaha Motorcycles Price Hike October 2022Yamaha’s FZ-FI, FZS-FI and FZS-FI Deluxe are exempt from this price hike. All these motorcycles are powered by a 149cc single-cylinder engine making 12.2 bhp of power and 13.3 Nm of torque. This is a fairly basic engine that only gets air-cooling and is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. Range starts from Rs. 1,13,700 for FZ-FI (ex-sh, Delhi).We have FZ-X, which is a neo-retro derivative of FZ-FI that we covered in the previous paragraph. It is a visually different machine from FZ-FI and its variations. FZ-X gets a price hike of Rs. 1,000. Prices now start from Rs. 1,33,900 which used to start from Rs. 1,32,900.
