To this end, the company has already made an announcement that a number of customers will get their MoveOS 2 Beta starting on June 1, 2022. This is as per company plans following the opening of its 3rd purchase window.Some deliveries were made as quickly as 5 days from payment. And some in under 24 hours. Since launch, Ola has streamlined bookings for S1 Pro through specified booking windows announced by the company. The most recent was announced for May 21, 2022. The company had done the same back in March 2022.Prompt booking and deliveryTo ensure a seamless process, prospective buyers first make a booking for 499 bucks. To confirm a purchase, a payment of 20k is to be made when the purchase window opens. For those who make a timely reservation, further details are elaborated in an email.The delivery process for Ola Electric is new, and could be one that works brilliantly.  Instead of waiting to set up brick and mortar stores in city after city, Ola is opting for doorstep deliveries. For those keen on a test drive, one can select a time slot at one of the test locations in a particular city. The electric scooter manufacturer has set itself competitive goals. Foremost is its quest to be on top of the sales chart. Currently this doesn’t seem a difficult task. Quite simply, while the electric scooter is moving forward in leaps and bounds, total segment volumes are still low.Ola has in quick time reached atop the sales chart having done better than Hero Electric and Okinawa last month. All three companies, and a few others are currently under immense public scrutiny owing to reported fire incidents. Hero Electric announced zero dispatches for April 2022 owing to the ongoing global chips shortage.Electric scooter segment growthWith a range of concerns clawing at the industry, it’s clear that the electric scooter segment does have teething issues. Concurrently, improved sales and demand point to improved buyer interest. The number of electric two wheelers available today continues to increase. This in turn gives buyers a real choice.Confidence in the electric scooter is evident from the price points they are available at. A growing number of electric scooters are already available at a higher price point than high-selling petrol scooters. Total two-wheeler segment sales in India surpasses 10 lakhs easily, each month.     Bajaj Sales, Exports Breakup Apr 2022 – Pulsar, Dominar, CT100, Platina

    Bajaj Auto experienced a de-growth both in terms of domestic sales and exports in April 2022Bajaj Pulsar 250Bajaj Auto Limited, a leading two and three wheeler automaker in India, has registered significantly lower sales in the past month. The company cites severe shortage in supply of semi-conductors which has taken its toll on production thereby relating to lower sales. Bajaj Auto domestic sales and exports in the past month stood at 2,68,284 units, this was a YoY de-growth from 3,27,837 units sold in April 2021.Bajaj lineup of motorcycles include Pulsar, Platina, CT, Dominar and Avenger along with the Chetak electric scooter. Domestic sales in April 2022 stood at 92,577 units, down 24.01 percent from 1,21,829 units sold in April 2021. This was a 29,253 unit volume de-growth.Bajaj Auto Domestic sales Breakup April 2022The best-selling model on the list was the Pulsar with 46,040 units sold in the past month. This was a 30.86 percent YoY de-growth over 66,586 units sold in April 2021. Pulsar commands a 49.73 percent share with its 125cc model seeing sales of 42,747 units, up 19.10 percent over 35,891 units sold in April 2021. Pulsar 150cc sales stood at 2,177 units, down 89.68 percent over 21,100 units sold in April 2021. There were also 1,024 units of the Pulsar 200cc sold last month leading to an 81.98 YoY de-growth, while there were only 92 units of Pulsar 250cc sold last month, down 97.65 percent over 3,914 units sold in April 2021.YoY sales of Bajaj Platina increased 10.85 percent to 39,316 units, up from 35,467 units sold in April 2021. This was a 3,849 unit volume growth with a 42.47 percent share. Bajaj CT sales dipped 64.80 percent YoY to 5,498 units. This was against 15,619 units sold in April 2021 leading to a 10,121 unit volume de-growth while commanding a 5.94 percent share in the company range.Bajaj Sales Breakup April 2022Avenger sales fell 93.17 percent to 176 units in April 2022, down from 2,575 units sold in April 2021. It was the Avenger 200cc that saw 174 units sold in the past month, over 1,851 units sold in April 2021 leading to a 90.96 percent YoY de-growth. The Avenger 250cc had only 2 units sold in domestic markets last month, down 99.69 percent over 650 units sold in April 2021. Dominar sales also fell YoY by 71.92 percent to 301 units last month, down from 1,072 units sold in April 2021. Dominar 250cc had 174 units sold last month while the 500cc model saw 127 units sold in April 2022.Bajaj Sales Breakup April 2022 saw Chetak electric scooter much in demand in domestic markets. Sales improved 144.31 percent to 1,246 units, up from 510 units sold in April 2021. The company, noting strong response for this model, has plans to add more models to their EV lineup over the coming years. A test mule of the Chetak based electric scooter is currently under test and has been recently spied near the company’s Chakan plant in Pune.Bajaj Auto Exports April 2022Exports dipped 14.71 percent YoY in April 2022. It was down to 1,75,707 units from 2,06,008 units shipped in April 2021. This was a 30,301 unit volume de-growth. In global markets, it was the Bajaj Boxer that garnered the most attention. Sales dipped 17.40 percent to 99,500 units from 1,20,460 units sold in April 2021 leading to a 20,960 unit volume de-growth while commanding a 56.63 percent share. The Boxer 110cc saw sales of 74,308 units, down 18.93 percent over 91,660 units sold in April 2021 while there were 18,232 units of Boxer 150cc sold along with 6,960 units of the Boxer 125cc.Bajaj Exports Breakup April 2022Of the Pulsar range, sales stood at 28,965 units, down 31.91 percent over 42,537 units sold in April 2021. Pulsar 200cc was the most in demand with 17,196 units sold, down 20.77 percent over 21,703 units sold in April 2021. There were also 7,686 units of the Pulsar 150cc sold and 3,433 units of the Pulsar 125cc sold in the past month along with 650 units of Pulsar 250cc.Bajaj CT exports increased 16.09 percent YoY to 21,156 units. Exports of the Discover dipped 9.28 percent  to 15,096 units from 16,640 units shipped in April 2021 out of which there were 10,776 units of the 125cc shipped and 4,320 units of the 110cc. Bajaj Dominar (5,785 units) and Platina (4,800 units) saw YoY sales growth of 79.60 percent and 6.95 percent respectively while Avenger exports fell 7.53 percent to 405 units. More

    BSA Electric Launch Likely Before Royal Enfield Classic Motorcycle

The iconic British brand will go on sale in the United Kingdom initially followed by other international markets including India. Market launch for Gold Star 650 is expected to take place in the coming few weeks.While Classic Legends is currently focussing on its petrol-powered Gold Star 650, a part of its resources will also be invested in developing an electric motorcycle. This development has been confirmed by Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director, Auto and Farm Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M).BSA Electric Motorcycle in the makingJejurikar further stated that M&M and Classic Legends will make use of BSA’s global popularity to venture into the electric mobility space. Reports of Classic Legends developing an electric motorcycle have been doing the rounds on the internet for a very long time. Initially, it was believed that the Indian bikemaker will launch its first electric bike under the Jawa brand but BSA seems to be a perfect choice.To jog back memories, BSA was awarded a grant worth GBP 4.6 million by the UK government as part of a low carbon automotive initiative across the nation. The company has already established a new research & development (R&D) centre in Coventry with a team of 12-15 members working for BSA.New BSA Gold StarNew Manufacturing facilities for EVs in BritainFurther, the UK Government has commissioned a facility specifically for manufacturing EVs that will be set up in the Midlands. Technical specifications of the electric bike are a complete mystery as of now and more details regarding this upcoming motorcycle are expected to come to light in coming months.That said, we expect the bike to flaunt plenty of classic retro styling elements in line with the upcoming Gold Star 650. If and when launched, it could lock horns with the upcoming electric motorcycle from Royal Enfield. However, there are no confirmations regarding specs and launch of either of these battery-powered bikes.Engine, Hardware SpecsComing back to BSA Goldstar 650, the modern classic motorcycle is powered by a 652cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor that dishes out 45hp and 55Nm of peak torque. This unit is paired with a 5-speed gearbox via a slipper and assist clutch. As for performance, Classic Legends say that this bike can reach a top speed of 166 kmph.The company has also stated that this engine could be tuned for more power and torque in future. Suspension duties will be handled by 41mm telescopic forks in front and twin shock absorbers in rear. With the launch of Yamaha Aerox 155 last year, the Indian market has started to come to terms with scooters being an efficient means of extracting performance.In other Asian markets, performance scooters already cater to a sizeable share of their respective markets. Honda has launched the sixth generation model of Airblade in Vietnam. The new gen Airblade 160 gets plenty of updates over its predecessor, the most prominent of those is a new heart borrowed from Honda Vario 160.Powering the sixth-gen Airblade 160 is a 160cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that replaces the older 150cc unit from its previous iteration. This 160cc mill kicks out 15 bhp and 14.2 Nm of peak torque. These figures are 0.2 bhp and 0.3 Nm more than what Yamaha Aerox 155 derives from its motor. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a belt-driven CVT automatic transmission.2022 Honda Airblade 160 DesignAs far as design goes, Honda has made subtle tweaks to its styling. This includes an updated headlight cluster and revised body panels with elegant lines running through them. Overall design is similar to its previous iteration with a thick front apron and side fairing. In sync with contemporary maxi-style scooters, Airblade gets a spine running through the floorboard.2022 Honda Airblade 160ccIt receives a single-piece seat with a slightly raised tail section. Components like alloy wheels, upswept exhaust muffler, footboard and suspension setup have been painted black which enhances the sporty appeal of the Maxi scooter. Ergonomics is well suited for a comfortable riding posture. More importantly, Airblade is now underpinned by a new and lighter chassis.Features & PriceIn terms of features, Airblade 160 is equipped with all-LED lighting, a fully digital instrument cluster and a smart key along with an underseat storage capacity of 23.2 litres. The underseat storage also gets a boot light as well as a USB charger. Hardware equipment consists of a suspension setup that comprises telescopic forks up front and twin shock absorbers at rear.Braking duties are handled by a disc brake in front and a drum brake at rear which are accompanied by a single-channel ABS. In Vietnam, Honda Airblade 160 has been priced at VND 55,990,000 (approx. INR 1.87 lakh). It will lock horns with Yamaha Aerox 155. Airblade 160 will most probably not reach Indian shores anytime in the near future.However, Honda has filed patents for as many as three scooters in India which could cater to its performance segment.     2022 Yamaha MT15 Review – The Perfect Update?

The naked streetfighter has always lived under the shadows of its fully-faired sibling which holds high regard among the Indian motorcycling community. Based on the fourth-gen R15 that was launched in September last year, the new 2022 Yamaha MT-15 comes with a series of updates over its predecessor. So is the latest iteration of MT-15 able to establish its own identity this time? Let’s find out.2022 Yamaha MT15 Review – Design, QualityOn the styling aspect, there isn’t any significant change in the new MT15 in comparison to its outgoing version. However, subtle updates like addition of gold anodised front forks have enhanced the bike’s visual appeal. It also gets an interesting palette of colour options including Racing Blue, Metallic Black and new additions like Ice Fluo-Vermillion and Cyan Blue.Our test bike was wrapped in the Cyan Blue paint scheme which we personally felt was eye-grabbing and suited well with the bike’s personality. The colour-coded alloy wheels further accentuate the sporty contrast of the motorcycle. Visual updates on the street naked motorcycle end here. It gets the same front face with single pod LED projector headlamp and twin eyebrow-shaped LED DRLs.Although the design remains largely intact, Yamaha has certainly made some improvements in quality and fit and finish when compared to the older model. Although not very premium, quality of switchgear is acceptable and the instrument console is clearly legible even under sunlight. More importantly, there are no panel gaps and the quality of plastics and rubber used in the bike is better.2022 Yamaha MT15 ReviewErgonomics & ComfortAs far as ergonomics go, the new MT-15 gets slightly rear-set footpegs that enable a committed riding posture. If the older and new models are kept side by side, one would notice that the updated MT-15 gets a slightly lower stance due to repositioning of the handlebar that has been set lower. This results in a slightly more aggressive riding position but is still fairly comfortable for city commutes.The rider’s seat is broad and comfortable, however, that is not the case for the pillion where real estate is limited and even a few minutes more than half an hour could be painful. If you are looking to carry a pillion regularly for your commutes we suggest you look somewhere else.FeaturesYamaha has made some small updates to its equipment. For instance, the instrument cluster is now compatible with Bluetooth connectivity and the Y-Connect mobile app that offers features like call, message, email alerts on the console. That said, we would have liked Yamaha to offer the more advanced X-Connect mobile app that comes with turn-by-turn navigation. It also benefits from a side stand engine inhibitor switch.2022 Yamaha MT15 ReviewRide & HandlingThe new MT-15 is underpinned by the same delta box frame as its predecessor but gets linked with a new aluminium swingarm instead of a box-section unit. More importantly, it gets new 37mm upside-down front forks which brings some noticeable change in its dynamics. While the MT-15 was always a good handler, its latest version is a lot sharper and handles more precisely, thus offering more confidence to new riders.At 139 kilos, the naked streetfighter is extremely nimble and easy to flick around corners and maneuver through tight spaces in bumper to bumper traffic. In addition, a wide and low handlebar offers a good purchase for lock-to-lock turns and quick direction changes. Thanks to the new aluminium swingarm, rear end of new MT-15 feels a lot more stable and offers more confidence while leaning into corners2022 Yamaha MT15 ReviewThe outer tube has been bolted to the chassis for rigidity and balance. A flip side to this is that the entire suspension setup now feels a lot firmer which is great in terms of handling but loses out on a plush ride. Each and every undulation on the surface including bumps and potholes is felt quite sharply when seated on top. A softer setup considering Indian roads might have been more welcome.Engine & PerformancePowering the latest iteration of MT-15 is the same 155cc liquid-cooled, four-valve engine with Variable Valve Actuation (VVA0 technology. However, this time it has been tuned slightly differently for friendlier city usage and as a result output is down by 0.1 bhp and peak torque has been bumped up by 0.2 Nm. The motor now cranks out 18.14 bhp at 10,000rpm and 14.1 Nm at 7,500rpm.2022 Yamaha MT15 ReviewThe most prominent update in this motor is how tractable it has become at city speeds. One can easily crawl at speeds of 20-25 kmph in the fourth gear without the fear of engine stalling. This also helps in extracting better fuel efficiency. Even in higher gears there is enough torque to play with and no matter which gear you’re in, you just need to open the throttle hard to extract all the juice.The best highlight about this VVA motor is not its top-end performance but how easily it builds up speed from the bottom end. That said, Yamaha has kept the high-revving nature of this engine intact and you instantly feel the boost kick in thanks to VVA after 7,000rpm till a red line of 10,000rpm. However, significant vibrations are felt in the handlebar and footpegs once you go past 5,500rpm.2022 Yamaha MT15 ReviewAlso, the engine starts sounding very coarse when taken close to the rev limiter. While we didn’t get a chance to test its performance figures, the motorcycle does feel strained at around 100-110 kmph. A smooth and quick-shifting gearbox complemented by a swift clutch action with slip and assist makes it a very likeable city bike. However, an optional quick-shifter might have resulted in a more engaging experience.One disappointing aspect is its braking which needed more bite, especially for the rear wheel. Also, for a bike that would easily cost about Rs 1.80 lakh (on-road), it misses out on dual-channel ABS which we are unable to wrap our heads around.2022 Yamaha MT15 ReviewVerdictPriced at Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom), the new 2022 MT-15 is around Rs 10,000 to Rs 12,000 dearer than its predecessor. For the additional premium, one gets significant updates but also misses out on a few crucial ones. It certainly feels more engaging to ride, thanks to its updated hardware and is also easy to handle for any amateur rider.However, lack of a dual-channel ABS and an optional quick-shifter hurt its value for money proposition. Given the updates R15 V4 has received, we feel Yamaha has missed a crucial opportunity by being a little too conservative in its approach towards MT15 V2. Should you consider it? Surely, especially people who are looking for a fun-to-ride, compact and fast motorcycle primarily for city commutes will love what the new MT-15 has on offer. More

    Honda Sales, Exports Breakup Apr 2022 – Activa, Dio, CB Shine, CB350

    Honda Two Wheeler YoY sales improved in April 2022 in domestic markets while exports dipped marginallyImage for reference.Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) ended the past month with sales growth in domestic markets to the extent of 32.74 percent. Exports on the other hand dipped 1.10 percent YoY. Total sales stood at 3,61,029 units out of which domestic sales were at 3,18,734 units, up 32.74 percent YoY over 2,40,122 units sold in April 2021. This was a 78,612 unit volume growth. Exports on the other hand dipped 1.10 percent to 42,295 units, down from 42,765 units shipped in April 2021.Honda Activa topped the list in domestic markets. Sales improved 48.94 percent YoY to 1,63,357 units up from 1,09,678 units sold in April 2021. This was a volume growth of 53,679 units while the Activa commands s a51.25 percent share in the company lineup. Honda Activa was also the No.1 in scooter sales and No. 2 in total two wheeler sales in April 2022.Honda Two Wheeler Domestic sales April 2022At No. 2 was the CB Shine with a YoY growth at 32.74 percent to 1,05,413 units sold in April 2022, up 25,997 units from 79,416 units sold in April 2021. The CB Shine holds a 33.07 percent share. Honda Activa and CB Shine were the only two models in the company lineup to garner sales above the 1 lakh unit mark. Honda Dio sales dipped 7.16 percent YoY to 16,033 units. This was down from 17,269 units sold in April 2021.Honda Two Wheelers noted outstanding increase in demand for the Dream which improved 152.62 percent YoY to 13,844 units in the past month, up from 5,502 units sold in April 2021. This was a volume growth of 8,342 units with a 4.34 percent share. Unicorn 160 found less demand in domestic markets down 20.65 percent YoY to 13,173 units while H’ness 350 sales increased 7.92 percent to 3,204 units.Honda sales breakup April 2022Honda also saw demand dip for the Grazia scooter by 69.76 percent to 1,391 units while X-Blade sales improved 398.69 percent to 763 units from 153 units sold in April 2021. There was also the Livo (650 units), Hornet 2.0 (584 units), CB200X (258 units) and CBR 650 (33 units) sold in the past month. Sales of the Africa Twin improved 1900 percent to 20 units from 1 unit sold in April 2021 and there was 1 unit of the CB500 also sold in the past month. CBR300R sales were down to 0 units from 8 units sold in April 2021.Honda Exports April 2022Honda Navi scooter topped sales charts in global markets. Sales increased 64.90 percent YoY to 12,126 units from 7,408 units sold in April 2021. The Navi commands a 28.88 percent share. Honda Dio was the 2nd best export with 7,032 units shipped in April 2022, down 16.87 percent over 8,459 units sold in April 2021. This was a 1,427 unit volume de-growth with a 16.63 percent share in the company’s export lineup.Honda Two Wheeler also noted de-growth in exports for the CB Shine and Dream down 10.48 percent and 8.73 percent respectively to 4,765 units and 3,720 units. Hornet 160R exports improved by 11.87 percent YoY to 3,280 while X-Blade dipped 42.44 percent and Live exports fell 55.77 percent YoY.Honda exports breakup April 2022Export growth was reported for the Unicorn by 56.77 percent to 2,256 units and for the CB350 by 164.40 percent to 2,221 units in April 2022.     New Royal Enfield Hunter 350cc Launch Next Month – June 2022

A relevant example is 650 twins that pack in double the power and yet are dimensionally similar to 350cc bikes like Classic 350. Another example is the recently launched Scram 411, a road-biased version of the horsey Himalayan. Working on the same lines, Royal Enfield will soon launch Hunter 350.Royal Enfield 350cc range currently has Classic 350, Meteor and Bullet. These are bestsellers in 350cc segment, preferred for their retro styling and strong street presence. Collectively, these bikes command a market share of more than 90% in 350cc segment. However, this space appears to be evolving rapidly, as seen with bikes like Honda CB350 RS and Yezdi Scrambler. Royal Enfield’s answer to these rivals will be Hunter 350.New Royal Enfield Hunter 350cc LaunchAs the name suggests, Hunter 350 has been designed to dominate city streets. As compared to other 350cc bikes, Hunter largely has a retro naked roadster profile with a dash of scrambler flavour. Some of the key features include round headlamp, rounded fuel tank, circular rear view mirrors, single piece seat, compact exhaust and short tail section.Riding ergonomics are quite comfortable with a wide handlebar and scooped-up seat. Footpegs appear to be slightly rear set, which can come handy for a more committed stance. With the rider alone, Hunter can also work for highway cruising and some mild-off-roading fun. Launch is planned for end June 2022, reveals new report.Royal Enfield Hunter 350cc RenderTest mules have been spotted with both wire-spoke wheels as well as alloy wheels. Users will be able to choose based on their specific needs and preferences. Grab rail options could also vary based on the variant, as test mules have been spotted with single grab rail as well as split grab rails. As compared to other 350cc bikes, Hunter has rectangular rear turn indicators.Hunter 350 engine and specsPowering Hunter 350 will be the new-gen engine and platform that were introduced with Meteor 350. It was later introduced with the new-gen Classic 350 as well. New-gen Bullet 350 is also waiting to get this update. The new 350cc engine churns out 20.2 bhp of max power and 27 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Hunter can be expected to be lighter, which will improve its power to weight ratio.Suspension system will be standard, just like other new-gen 350cc RE bikes. There will be conventional telescopic forks at front and dual rear shock absorbers. The bike will have disc brakes at both ends, integrated with dual-channel ABS as standard.In terms of pricing, Hunter is likely to be more affordable than Classic 350.
