      Honda 2W Sales Breakup June 2022 – Activa, Dio, Shine, CB350, Dream

      Honda Two Wheelers posted a 67.40 YoY growth in domestic sales while exports were up 41.30 percentImage for reference.Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) reported a 67.40 percent growth in domestic sales in June 2022 with 3,55,655 units sold, up from 2,12,453 units sold in June 2021. This was a 1,43,202 unit volume growth. Exports on the other hand increased 41.30 percent YoY to 28,322 units from 20,044 units sold in June 2021 relating to a volume growth of 8,278 units. Once again it was the Honda Activa scooter that led domestic sales charts, that too by a significant margin. It was the Honda Navi that found most buyers in global markets.Honda Sales Breakup June 2022Honda Activa scooter topped domestic sales lists in June 2022 with sales of 1,84,305 units. This was a YoY growth of 95.50 percent from 93,274 units sold in June 2021. The Honda Activa scooter commands a 51.82 percent share in the company lineup. Honda Activa also took a top spot on the list of best-selling scooters, followed by TVS Jupiter and Suzuki Access in 2nd and 3rd spot respectively. At no. 2 was the Honda CB Shine. Sales stood at 1,25,947 units in June 2022, up 75.25 percent over 71,869 units sold in June 2021, relating to a 54,078 unit volume growth and a 35.41 percent share.These were the only two models in the company lineup to post sales above the 1 lakh unit mark in June 2022. Honda Dio scooter was next with sales of 26,540 units in June 2022, up 39.81 percent from 18,983 units sold in June 2021. Honda Dream (11,625 units) and Hness 350 (2,120 units) also saw a YoY growth of 245.85 percent and 14.41 percent respectively.Honda Hornet 2.0 and X-Blade have posted the highest YoY sales growth. Hornet sales stood at 1,906 units, up 671.66 percent over 247 units sold in June 2021. X-Blade on the other hand has seen sales increase 901.10 percent YoY to 911 units from just 91 units sold in June 2021. Livo, which featured at No 7 in between Hornet 2.0 and X-Blade saw its YoY sales up 47.84 percent to 1,814 units.Honda Sales Breakup June 2022Honda also had the CB200X (168 units), its adventure motorcycle, launched in August 2021 on this list. Sales of the Grazia (131 units) dipped 96.07 percent YoY. It was followed by CB300R with 108 units sold in the past month. Thereafter, sales of Unicorn 160 (79 units) and Africa Twin (1 units) posted YoY de-growth while there were 0 units of CBR 650, CB500 and Gold Wing sold in June 2022.Honda Exports Breakup June 2022The company’s export list was headed by the Navi scooter. Even as sales have been discontinued in domestic markets, the Navi saw exports to the tune of 8,602 units in June 2022. This was a 699.44 percent YoY growth over 1,076 units sold in June 2021. The Navi scooter commands a 30.37 percent share. Exports of Dio scooter increased 11.72 percent YoY to 6,301 units in the past month from 5,640 units shipped in June 2021. It was followed by the X-Blade, of which 3,148 units were exported in June 2022, up 11.43 percent from 2,825 units sold in June 2021.Honda Dream also saw its exports surge by 301.75 percent from 684 units in June 2021 to 2,748 units in June 2022. Exports of the Unicorn 160 (1,880 units), Livo (1,800 units) and CB350 (1,500 units) all posted a YoY growth in exports. On the other hand, the exports of Honda CB Shine, which was at No. 2 in domestic sales, dipped in terms of exports by 74.25 percent to 1,150 units in June 2022 from 4,466 units shipped in June 2021.Honda Export Breakup June 2022Honda Hornet 160R exports increased 6.10 percent to 904 units while exports of the Aviator dipped 77.78 percent to 240 units from 1,080 units exported in June 2021. Hornet 2.0 had 48 units exported in the past month while there was only 1 unit of the Activa scooter sold in global markets in June 2022, down 97.50 percent from 40 units sold in June 2021.       Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle Launch In 2023 – Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Rival

      Both motorcycles developed under the Bajaj-Triumph joint venture share the same underpinnings and powertrain but different clothingNew Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle Will Rival Royal Enfield. Image above is a render.The partnership between Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles is one of the most talked-about associations in the Indian auto industry in recent times. The joint venture will result in production of premium mid-displacement motorcycles which will be retailed under the iconic British brand in India as well as overseas markets.The association between the two auto giants has led to the development of at least two bikes with the same underpinnings and engine but slightly different body styles. Both these motorcycles have recently been caught on camera for the first time. One is a neo-retro roadster while the other is a scrambler. The former will take on the likes of Royal Enfield Meteor 350 while the latter will take on the likes of Yezdi Scrambler and upcoming Royal Enfield Hunter 350.Bajaj-Triumph Scrambler: EngineThe roadster has already been discussed at a length previously. The scrambler is a different take on the motorcycle with the same engine. As mentioned earlier, both bikes will be powered by the same motor. Although exact configurations aren’t known yet, we expect this mill to be a single-cylinder unit with a sub-500cc displacement. The engine has supposedly been developed by Triumph since it wears a similar look.The motor is nestled in a triangular-shaped casing which is reminiscent of the bigger Bonnevilles. The motor gets cooling fins but those are only meant for aesthetic purposes as it features a large radiator which means it will be a liquid-cooled unit. In all likelihood, the engine will use a 4-valve, DOHC layout like the KTM models developed by Bajaj.New Bajaj Triumph Motorcycle Will Rival Royal EnfieldLike its roadster sibling, the upcoming Triumph scrambler borrows visual cues from the neo-retro range of motorcycles from the British brand. The most evident styling inspiration is Triumph’s existing Street Scrambler with signature highlights such as a round headlight, an engine underbelly crash guard, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank with rubber pads on the sides and split-style seats.Both the roadster and scrambler get a single exhaust tailpipe with a dual-barrel canister although their design appears slightly different from each other. The latter’s scrambler appeal is highlighted with the presence of a tall-set beak-like front fender, knuckle guards, a short flyscreen and a luggage rack at rear, some of which will be available as accessories.Features & HardwareAs far as equipment is concerned, this test mule flaunted a rectangular digital TFT instrument console similar to the ones used in the 390 range of KTM. However, the production-spec model could use something more retro like a circular semi-digital cluster to suit the bike’s character. The bike is also expected to pack full LED illumination and multiple riding modes.Upcoming Bajaj Triumph Scrambler MotorcycleComing to its hardware, both the scrambler and its roadster singling appear to be based on a tubular chassis with bolt-on rear subframes. The chassis will be suspended on upside-down forks at front and a mono-shock at rear, although the suspension setup of the scrambler is likely to offer more travel. Braking duties will be carried out by a 4-piston radially mounted caliper with a single disc at front and rear each.Unlike the roadster with a 17-inch front wheel, the scrambler runs on a larger 19-inch front alloy wheel. The rear wheel on both bikes remain 17-inch units, however, the alloy wheels on scrambler are shod with semi-knobby road-biased tyres from Metzeler. The spy images suggest that the scrambler will also have a higher saddle. Launch of the Bajaj Triumph motorcycle is confirmed for 2023. Prices are expected to be in the Rs 2 lakh range. More

      Hero Sales Breakup June 2022 – Splendor, Passion, Deluxe, Maestro, Destini

      Hero MotoCorp registered strong YoY sales in domestic markets with 5.77 percent growth, while exports dipped 29.33 percentImage – R RohitIn June 2022, Hero MotoCorp has registered domestic sales of 4,63,180 units. This was a YoY growth of 5.77 percent as against 4,37,905 units sold in June 2021. MoM sales on the other hand dipped marginally by 0.70 percent from 4,66,438 units sold in May 2022.The leading two wheeler maker in India has also announced a price hike from July 2022 across its motorcycle and scooter range. This price hike across its motorcycle lineup ranges from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,638 depending on model. The prices of scooters have also been increased by Rs 528 to Rs 1,630.Hero MotoCorp Sales Breakup June 2022In domestic markets, it was the Hero Splendor that topped sales charts with 2,70,923 units sold in June 2022, up 2.62 percent from 2,64,009 units sold in June 2021. This was a 6,914 unit volume growth. MoM sales also improved 3.31 percent from 2,62,249 units sold in May 2022. It was followed at No. 2 by the HF Deluxe with sales of 1,13,155 units, up 2.20 percent YoY from 1,10,724 units sold in June 2021. MoM sales suffered a de-growth of 11.13 percent over 1,27,330 units sold in May 2022.Hero Glamour (30,105 units) and Passion (18,560 units) posted both YoY and MoM growth respectively. However, sales of the Hero Pleasure dipped to 11,321 units, down 34.93 percent YoY from 17,397 units sold in June 2021. MoM sales fell by 38.91 percent over 18,531 units sold in May 2022.Hero MotoCorp Sales June 2022. Splendor and Deluxe range contributes to almost 83% of total Hero sales in domestic market.There was also the Destini 125 (7,731 units), XPulse 200 (4,642 units), Xtreme 160R (3,806 units) and Maestro (2,937 units) on the domestic list, each of which posted a YoY growth. MoM sales however dipped for each of these models except for the XPulse 200 which saw a 33.35 percent increase in sales over 3,481 units sold in May 2022.Hero MotoCorp Exports Breakup June 2022 In global markets, Hero MotoCorp suffered a YoY de-growth of 29.33 percent to 21,657 units shipped in June 2022, down from 30,646 units sold in June 2021. MoM exports however increased by 7.01 percent from 20,238 units shipped in May 2022. Here it was Hero HF Deluxe that saw most buyers globally. Sales increased 76.43 percent to 5,681 units from 3,220 units sold in June 2021. MoM sales were also higher by 3.88 percent when compared to 5,469 units shipped in May 2022. Hero HF Deluxe had a 26.23 percent share in the company lineup in June 2022.Exports of Hero Hunk dipped on a YoY basis by 8.39 percent to 4,924 units in June 2022 but increased 78.99 percent MoM when compared to 2,751 units shipped in May 2022. Hero Glamour exports improved 319.48 percent YoY  and 71.66 percent MoM to 3,876 units while exports also increased YoY and MoM in the case of Xpulse 200 by 17.16 percent and  31 percent respectively to 2,772 units.Hero MotoCorp Exports June 2022Hero Splendor, which was a top favourite in domestic markets, failed to attract much attention overseas. Sales dipped 83.05 percent YoY to 1,507 units in June 2022 from 8,891 units sold in June 2021. MoM sales also fell by 77.33 percent from 6,648 units shipped in May 2022.Passion exports were at 1,440 units in the past month, up 220 percent MoM over 450 units shipped in May 2022 while exports of the Maestro dipped YoY by 18.77 percent to 1,233 units but increased MoM by 126.65 percent from 544 units shipped in May 2022. The export list also included Hero Pleasure (192 units) and Destini 125 (32 units), while there were 0 units of Achiever, Xtreme 160 and Xtreme 160/200 exported in the past month.  More

      Bajaj, KTM Confirm New High End Electric Motorcycles – Pulsar, Duke ?

      Launch of Bajaj, KTM electric motorcycles will take couple of years at least, as the plan is still in initial stages2023 KTM Duke Electric – RenderElectric two-wheeler segment is expected to witness significant growth in coming years. While bulk of sales will comprise affordable, entry-level electric two-wheelers, there will be plenty of scope for lifestyle products as well. It’s the latter segment that Bajaj Auto and KTM are now looking to target.According to Executive Director of Bajaj Rakesh Sharma, the company is currently working with KTM to identify an appropriate platform for the new electric motorcycles. KTM does have an EV portfolio in international markets, but it’s limited to electric cycles and off-road e-bikes. It’s apparent that Bajaj and KTM will have to develop a new platform from scratch, which is likely to take some time.Bajaj, KTM electric motorcyclesWorking together since 2007 on multiple projects, Bajaj and KTM will further solidify their partnership by foraying into high-end electric motorcycle segment. Bajaj currently manufactures KTM and Husqvarna motorcycles, as part of that partnership. These are sold in domestic market and also exported to overseas locations.Along with premium electric motorcycles, Bajaj is also likely to develop affordable EV products in collaboration with KTM. As part of its EV push, Bajaj has built a new manufacturing facility in Maharashtra. This is operational and caters exclusively to manufacturing electric two-wheelers. Chetak electric scooters have started to roll out of this facility.KTM Duke Electric Motorcycle Launch PlansBajaj, KTM high-end electric motorcycles and other upcoming EVs will be manufactured at this new facility. It is a state-of-the-art facility and can be used to manufacture a wide range of electric two-wheelers. It has peak manufacturing capacity of 5 lakh units per annum. The facility also has dedicated design and R&D centres. It has been developed at an investment of around Rs 750 crore.Bajaj Auto has filed trademarks for multiple new names recently. These include Dynamo, Tecnica, Technik, Pulsar Elan, Pulsar Eleganza, etc. It is likely that Bajaj could use either of these names for their upcoming electric motorcycle. KTM has already confirmed working on a Duke based electric motorcycle.Chetak expansion plansMost of the leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers currently have a limited number of products on offer. This applies to OEMs like Ampere, Ola, Ather, Revolt Motors and TVS. Bajaj currently offers only Chetak electric scooter that has been registering consistent sales every month. Sales could have been higher, but it hasn’t been possible due to global shortage of auto parts. Till date, pre-bookings for Chetak have been more than 16,000.Bajaj will be looking to boost sales in coming months, as supply situation improves globally. The company is also working to make Chetak available across the country. As of now, Chetak is available in 27 cities. There are plans to increase this number to 100 cities in the near future. Bajaj is also working to launch multiple new electric two-wheelers over the next two years. The company has already formed a new entity named Chetak Technology to focus exclusively on development of EVs. With more products on offer, Bajaj will be able to target a larger segment of users. As always, models from Royal Enfield dominate the sales chart by holding top five spots. Total sales in the past month stood at 59,521 units, up 30.55 percent YoY over 45,592 units sold in June 2021. This was a volume growth of 13,929 units. MoM sales on the other hand, dipped 8.32 percent from 64,924 units sold in May 2022.Top 10 200cc To 500cc Motorcycles June 2022Royal Enfield had 5 of its models in the top 5 spots. The Classic 350 commanded a 42.72 percent market share with 25,425 units sold in June 2022, up 46.31 percent YoY over 17,377 units sold in June 2021. MoM sales dipped 15.13 percent when compared to 29,959 units sold in May 2022. This was the only model on the list to see sales above the 10,000 unit mark. At No. 2 was RE Meteor 350. Sales dipped 1.43 percent YoY to 8,645 units, from 8,770 units sold in June 2021. MoM sales improved 5.31 percent over 8,209 units sold in May 2022.Up next was Royal Enfield Bullet 350 with YoY sales growth of 10.83 percent to 5,893 units from 5,317 units sold in June 2021. MoM sales dipped 15.31 percent from 6,958 units sold in May 2022 leading to a 1,065 unit volume de-growth. The next generation Bullet 350cc has already been caught testing s on public roads and has been detailed in a walk around video.At No. 4 and 5 were RE Himalayan and Electra. Sales of the Himalayan increased by 559.94 percent YoY to 4,514 units from 684 units sold in June 2022. MoM sales also improved by 37.92 percent over 3,273 units sold in May 2022. Market share improved from 5.04 percent held in May 2022 to 7.58 percent in June 2022. Royal Enfield has over 80% market share, which is likely to grow further with the launch of new Hunter 350 next month.200cc to 500cc Motorcycle sales June 2022 vs June 2021 (YoY)The 5th best-selling model in the 200-255cc range from Royal Enfield was the Electra 350 with sales of 4,363 units in June 2022. The company had sold 3,137 units in June 2021 leading to a 39.08 percent YoY growth. MoM sales were up 15.67 percent over 3,769 units sold in May 2022.Honda H’ness CB350 at No 6 was the first non-RE motorcycle in the list. It sold 2,120 units in June 2022. This was a YoY growth of 14.41 percent from 1,853 units sold in June 2021. MoM sales were down 35.91 percent over 3,308 units sold in May 2022.This was followed by Bajaj Avenger 220 at No. 7 with sales of 2,108 units up 321.60 percent YoY from just 500 units sold in June 2021. There was also a notable MoM increase in sales by 631.94 percent from 288 units sold in May 2022. Yamaha FZ25 was up next with a YoY growth in sales by 19.75 percent to 673 units up from 562 units sold in June 2021 while MoM sales dipped 4.67 percent from 706 units sold in May 2022.Pulsar 250, KTM 390, Apache 310Hereafter, most motorcycles on this list saw a YoY and MoM de-growth. Bajaj Pulsar 250/220F sales dipped 88.95 percent YoY to 391 units in June 2022 from 3,540 units sold in June 2021. MoM sales however, improved 986.11 percent when compared to 36 units sold in May 2022. Suzuki V-Strom 250, a recent entrant to this list, saw sales of 380 units in June 2022. This was a MoM de-growth of 78.02 percent over 1,729 units sold in May 2022.200cc to 500cc Motorcycle sales June 2022 vs May 2022 (MoM)Sales of KTM 390 (374 units) and TVS Apache 310 (264 units) saw both YoY and MoM de-growth while sales of Dominar 250 increased 62.24 percent to 232 units in June 2022. KTM 250 (218 units), Dominar 400 (214 units) and Gixxer 250 (171 units) featured lower down the list along with Ninja 300 (130 units), CB 300R (108 units) and Husqvarna 250 (4 units). But 160 cc segment is currently heating up again with the launch of Bajaj Pulsar N160 and it gets most of the good stuff from Pulsar N250. The upgrade is in the form of a gear position indicator on the LCD instrument cluster. Xtreme 160R gets a negative LCD panel displaying information like speedometer, tachometer, dual trip meter, clock and some more features. But it doesn’t make as much power as a Pulsar N160 with 15.68 bhp and it definitely can’t match the outright 17.39 bhp of TVS Apache RTR 160 4V. It does make a little more power when compared to Honda X-Blade’s 13.67 bhp, though. But Xtreme 160R has a trump card and that is its 139 kg weight which is the lightest in this segment.2022 Hero Xtreme 160R vs Bajaj Pulsar N160 vs TVS Apache 1602022 Hero Xtreme 160R is powered by the same 163 cc, single-cylinder engine with an SOHC setup. It is capable of generating 15 bhp at 8500 RPM and 14 Nm of peak torque at 6500 RPM. This engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission. It weighs 138.5 kg with a single disc and can carry 12 litres of fuel. With this update, Hero has given some more value to their customers and expects to increase sales with this new addition.
