    Triumph Scrambler T4 Spied Testing? Stripped Down Variant Launch Soon?

    With a strategic partnership with Bajaj Auto, Triumph Motorcycles has successfully established a much more affordable 400cc portfolio. With the strength of this potent 400cc platform, Triumph has entered new price brackets and gained a much more wider audience base than before. It could be a perfect rival to upcoming Royal Enfield Scram 440 and Hero Mavrick Scrambler 440.
    However, India is a price-sensitive market and favours affordable offerings. Realising this need, Triumph recently launched Speed T4, a more affordable variant of Speed 400 with a less powerful tune and inexpensive components. The company might be doing something similar Scrambler 400X as suggested by the recent test mules. Let’s take a look.
    Triumph Scrambler T4 Spied
    Because Triumph called the more affordable variant of Speed 400 as Speed T4, there is a good probability of them naming the affordable variant of Scrambler 400X as Scrambler T4. As seen in the video by onlinetech918, we can see what looks like a more affordable variant of Scrambler 400X under testing.
    There seems to be emission testing equipment on this particular test mule, as suggested by the sensors on exhaust bend pipe. This sensor is connected to a testing setup of some sort. Because there is emission testing, the fingers point towards the possibility of this carrying a different tune or some physical changes in the powertrain.

    These changes could be similar to what we saw with Speed T4. Triumph has a unique character with T4 by replacing electronic throttle control system with a manual one and offering a lower state of tune – 30.6 bhp of peak power at 7,000 RPM and 36 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 RPM. Gearbox remains the same 6-speed unit.
    We can expect something similar with upcoming Triumph Scrambler T4. With Speed T4, Triumph also offered less premium components. As seen in the spy shots of Scrambler T4, we can see something similar. While USD front forks from Scrambler 400X are retained, they don’t have the Gold shade. Other components are less premium.
    For example, seat is now a simpler single-piece unit as opposed to 400X’s fancier split seat setup. Rear tail light is different and grab rail looks cheaper too. The rubber pads on fuel tank are now gone and handlebar is a simpler unit now without any brace pads. Knuckle guards seems to have vanished and there might be other changes.

    What could be the price?
    Headlights and front mudguard looks similar and instrument cluster is the same semi-digital unit as seen on other 400cc Triumphs. Alloy wheel design on Triumph Scrambler T4 look different and they may be wrapped with skinnier tyres. Considering the product looks almost production-ready, launch could happen soon. Pricing might be around Rs 2.4 lakh mark (Ex-sh), which is around Rs 25,000 less than Scrambler 400X’s Rs 2.65 lakh (Ex-sh) price. More

    Hero MotoCorp Sales Nov 2024 – YTD Sales up 9.35%

    New Hero SplendorHero MotoCorp heralded in several new and upcoming models at the EICMA Show 2024 all of which are soon to be launched in India
    Hero MotoCorp, the largest motorcycle maker, has seen its sales decline significantly in November 2024. Sales fell by 6.36% on a YoY basis to 4,59,805 units. This was a 31,245 unit volume decline over 4,91,050 units sold in Nov 2023. MoM sales also suffered a 32.29% setback when compared to 6,79,091 units sold in Oct 2024. This related to an even higher dip in volumes by 2,19,286 units.
    A new model lineup with the Hero Xpulse 210, Karizma 250, Xtreme 250 and Vida Z all showcased at the 2024 EICMA Show in Milan, the company expects to see improved customer sentiments in the coming months. The company plans to strengthen its premium and scooter portfolio with new models across both in the ICE and EV segments. The company also released sketches of Hero Surge S32 Convertible Electric Scooter / Rickshaw with launch sometime in 2025.

    In Nov 2024, Hero MotoCorp saw its motorcycle sales decline by 3.49% to 4,25,856 units. This was significantly lower by 15,420 units over 4,41,276 unit sales of Nov 2023. Motorcycles currently command a 92.62% share. MoM sales of motorcycles also fell by 33.02% over 6,35,787 units sold in Oct 2024 relating to a 2,09,931 unit volume decline.
    Lower YoY and MoM scooter sales have also been reported. Scooter sales dipped to 33,949 units in Nov 2024, down by 31.79% over 49,774 units sold in the same month last year. MoM sales suffered a 21.60% setback when compared to 43,304 units sold in Oct 2024.
    Hero Sales Nov 2024 – MoM
    In Nov 2024, while domestic sales dipped by 7.67% YoY and 33.10% MoM to 4,39,777 units, Hero MotoCorp reported a 35.65% improvement in its YoY export figures. Exports went up to 20,028 units in Nov 2024 from 14,764 units shipped in Nov 2023. Exports however, fell by 7.65% MoM over 21,688 units exported in Oct 2024.

    Hero MotoCorp has seen outstanding sales growth during the period April to November 2024. There were a total of 41,93,736 units sold during this period which included both motorcycles and scooters sold in domestic and global markets. This was a 9.35% increase over 38,35,080 units sold in the same period last year relating to a volume increase of 3,58,656 units.

    Taking a breakup of motorcycle and scooter sales sold by the company in domestic markets, there were 39,18,733 motorcycles sold in the FY25 period. This was a 10.69% YTD increase from 35,40,305 units sold in FY24. It resulted in a volume increase of 3,78,428 units.
    Scooter sales on the other hand suffered a 6.71% YTD decline in demand. Scooter sales fell to 2,75,003 units in the FY25 period from 2,94,775 unit sales in FY24. However, despite these lower sales Hero MotoCorp experienced an 8.62% rise in domestic demand during the April to Nov 2024 period to 40,37,846 units, up from 37,17,242 unit sales in the same 8 month period of the past year.     KTM India has just revised the price of one of its popular offerings, 250 Duke. This quarter-litre street fighter from KTM goes up against Bajaj Dominar 250, Suzuki Gixxer 250 and similar motorcycles. To boost sales and clear year dealer inventory, 250 Duke gets revised pricing for a limited period of time.
    250 Duke Year-End Discount
    In India, KTM is expected to launch the new 390 Adventure soon. New generation 250 Adventure is also spied testing and speculations suggest a launch in H1 2025. Ahead of all this, KTM is offering attractive year-end discounts on its quarter-litre offering, 250 Duke to boost sales and increase footfall into the showrooms.
    The new price for KTM 250 Duke is Rs 2.25 lakh (Ex-sh), which is a straight Rs 20,000 discount on its Ex-sh price tag. Prior to this pricing revision, KTM 250 Duke used to command a price tag of Rs 2.45 lakh (Ex-sh). As per KTM, the revised pricing of Rs 2.25 lakh (Ex-sh) is for a limited period only.
    As the name suggests, it is a year-end discount and the new pricing stays till December 31st, 2024 or, till stocks last. In the company’s portfolio, it slots above 200 Duke and below 390 Duke and is known to be a decent middle ground, where performance and riding experience are concerned.

    It has to be noted that KTM recently gave 250 Duke a feature update where it received massive improvements in its instrumentation department. This is due to the 5-inch TFT screen borrowed from 390 Duke. Other notable change was the addition of LED headlights and boomerang-shaped LED DRL from its bigger and pricier sibling.
    Quick Shifter Standard Fitment
    250 Duke is powered by a 249cc DOHC 4V liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine that is capable of generating 30.6 bhp of peak power at 9,250 RPM and 25 Nm of peak torque at 7,250 RPM, mated to a 6-speed gearbox, slipper clutch and a bi-directional quick shifter that is offered as standard fitment.
    Other notable cycle parts include WP Apex USD telescopic front forks, rear mono-shock unit, front and rear single disc brake with dual-channel ABS, 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped with 110/70 front and 150/60 rear tyres.

    Royal Enfield Sales Nov 2024 At 82,257 Units – 2.5% YoY Growth, 4.17% YTD Growth

    Royal Enfield, a front runner in the 350cc to 450cc and 650cc motorcycle segments in India, has revealed sales results for November 2024. During the past month, the company has reported sales of 82,257 units. This was a 2.50% YoY growth over 80,251 units sold in Nov 2023.

    The company however, has posted a drastic dip in demand on a MoM basis over 1,10,574 units sold in Oct 2024 which was their highest monthly sales ever. Royal Enfield is set to see even more efficient sales with several new model lineups. The Goan Classic 350 marked its entry into the cruiser bike segment with its launch at the Motoverse in Goa.
    The new RE Bear 650 made its official debut on 5th November. It is underpinned by the same 650 cc platform as the Interceptor 650 with which it also shares its engine and chassis. Last month, the company also introduced the Flying Flea electric motorcycle brand which will launch in early 2026. This will include the classic-inspired FF-C6 and scrambler-styled FF-S6
    Royal Enfield has posted monthly sales of 82,257 motorcycles in November 2024. This was a growth of 2.50% over 80,251 units sold in Nov 2023. This related to a 2,006 unit volume increase. However, its MoM sales dipped significantly from 1,10,574 units sold in Oct 2024. Even as the company commands the 350cc motorcycle segment, sales declined by 4.06% to 71,261 units in Nov 2024.

    This was a 3,014 unit volume de-growth from 74,275 units sold in Nov 2023. The 350cc segment currently commands an 86.63% share in the RE portfolio. Motorcycles in the above 350cc segment has seen outstanding demand. Sales improved by 84% YoY to 10,996 units, up from 5,976 units sold in Nov 2023. This was a 5,020 unit volume growth with a 13.37% share.
    Domestic sales went down by 3.86% YoY to 72,236 units from 75,137 units sold in Nov 2024 while exports doubled to 10,021 units in the past month from 5,114 units shipped in Nov 2023. Domestic sales and exports hold am 87.82% and 12.17% share respectively.

    On a year-to-date (YTD) basis, Royal Enfield saw a 4.17% sales growth. Sales (domestic + Exports) during the April to November 2024 grew to 6,47,611 units which was a 25,939 unit volume growth from 6,21,672 units sold during the same 8 month period of 2023.

    Sales in the sub 350cc segment suffered a 0.23% decline to 5,55,289 units in FY25 from 5,56,546 units sold in FY24. This was a marginal de-growth by 1,257 units. Sales of motorcycles in the above 350 cc segment surged by 41.76% to 92,322 units over 65,126 units sold in FY24. This related to a volume increase of 27,196 units.
    Improvements were reported both in terms of total domestic sales and exports. Domestic sales were up 2.09% to 5,84,966 units while exports increased by 28.66% to 62,645 units in the FY25 period. More

    Bajaj Auto Nov 2024 Sales Grows YoY – 4.21 Lakh Units Sold

    Bajaj Auto Limited saw a positive trend across its portfolio in November 2024. Even as domestic sales of both its 2W and CV declined YoY, the company witnessed double digit improvement in its exports thus ending total sales on a positive note. The recently introduced Pulsar N125 has been well received.
    Bajaj Auto 2W, CV YoY Sales – Nov 2024
    Bajaj Auto sales (2W+CV) (Domestic + exports) stood at a total of 4,21,640 units in Nov 2024. This was a 5% YoY growth over 4,03,003 units sold in Nov 2023. Across its two wheeler (2W) segment, domestic sales saw lower demand by 7% to 2,03,611 units. This figure had been significantly higher with 2,18,597 units sold in Nov 2023.
    Exports however saw a hefty 26% YoY growth from 1,30,451 units shipped in Nov 2023 to 1,64,465 units exported last month. This took total 2W sales up by 5% YoY to 3,68,076 units. This was a marked increase from 3,49,048 units sold in Nov 2023.

    Commercial vehicles (CV) also saw lower demand in domestic markets but a surge in exports. Domestic sales fell by 5% YoY to 37,243 units, down from 39,147 units sold in Nov 2023. Exports on the other hand witnessed a 10% YoY improvement to 16,321 units in the past month, over 14,808 units of Nov 2023. Total CV sales thus stood at 53,564 units, a 1% decline over 53,955 unit sales of the same month last year.
    Taking into account total sales (domestic + exports (2W+CV), Bajaj Auto had 2,40,854 units sold in domestic markets relating to a 7% YoY decline. Exports were up 24% to 1,80,786 units. There had been 1,45,259 units shipped in Nov 2023.

    Bajaj sales during the period of April to November 2024 saw outstanding increase both in terms of 2W and CVs and in domestic and global markets. Two wheeler domestic sales were up 9% during the 8 month period to 16,78,818 units. There had been 15,45,334 units sold in the same period of 2023.
    Exports were also up 11% to 10,87,755 units a YTD growth from 9,82,771 units sold in the FY24 period taking total 2W sales up by 9%. There were 27,66,573 units sold in the FY25 period, well over 25,28,105 units sold in the FY2024 period.
    CV sales too grew by 4% in domestic markets and 18% in terms of exports. Domestic sales stood at 3,33,199 units in FY25 from 3,21,140 units sold in FY24. Exports on the other hand grew even more significantly to 1,25,135 units during the April to Nov 2024 period from 1,06,306 units sold in the same period last year. Total CV sales thus increased by 7% to 4,58,334 units from 4,27,446 units YTD.
    Improvements across both 2W and CV segments, thus took total domestic sales up 8% on a YTD basis to 20,12,017 units while exports were up 11% to 12,12,890 units. Round headlights, muscular fuel tank, quad exhaust pipes and muscular proportions are notable elements. 2025 Honda CB 650R gets an improved instrument cluster as well as all-LED lighting and E-Clutch. 649cc inline 4-cylinder engine makes 82 bhp and 63 Nm, mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

    Unlike CB 650 and CBR 650, CB 750 Hornet is powered by a parallel-twin SOHC engine that displaces 755cc. This motor is capable of 90.5 bhp of peak power and 75 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Because of its less complicated engine, it is lighter at 192 kg with excellent performance prospects.

    CB 750 Hornet’s Bigger sibling, CB 1000 Hornet, is also expected to launch in India. Powered by a 1,000 cc 4-cylinder engine, CB 1000 Hornet packs 150 bhp of peak power and 104 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. MY25 version gets the 5-inch TFT instrument cluster.
    Honda X-ADV Scooter India Launch in 2025
    X-ADV
    The most interesting multi-cylinder 2W vehicle HMSI has lined up for India, is a scooter. Not just any scooter. It is a Honda X-ADV maxi-scooter powered by a twin-cylinder 745cc engine, mated to a fancy dual-clutch gearbox. This touring maxi scooter develops around 58 bhp of peak power and 69 Nm of peak torque.
    All these offerings will be launched by HMSI in 2025. Exact dates are not confirmed yet. These 2Ws are less likely to be launched at once.     TVS Sales Nov 2024 – 2W Sales at 3.92L Units, EV Sales Surge 57%

    TVS Apache RTR 310TVS witnessed outstanding demand for its 2W EV lineup as its e-scooter registered a growth of 56.67% with sales increasing from 16,782 units in Nov 2023 to 26,292 units in Nov 2024.
    TVS Motor Company, a leading manufacturer of both two and three wheelers, reported improved sales in November 2024 on a YoY basis while its MoM performance showed some constraint. The company reported total sales of 4,01,250 units in Nov 2024, reflecting a 10% increase.
    This was when compared to 3,64,231 units in November 2023 which related to a 37,019 unit volume growth. The company however witnessed lower MoM performance. Total sales (2+3W) (domestic + exports) dipped by 17.95% from 4,89,015 units sold in Oct 2024. This was a volume decline of 87,765 units.
    TVS Sales Nov 2024 – YoY Growth
    Here we breakup sales on a YoY vs MoM basis. It shows that the company performed very well in Nov 2024 when compared to sales of Nov 2023. However, every segment suffered a decline on a MoM basis. Motorcycle sales were up by 4.29% YoY to 1,80,247 units in Nov 2024, a 7,411 unit volume growth over 1,72,836 units sold in Nov 2023.
    Motorcycles command a 45.93% share led by the Jupiter and Raider. 2025 TVS Apache RTR 160 4V was launched in mid-Nov giving it some added sporty appeal. This will allow this sporty track oriented bike to take on its competitors Hero Xtreme 160R, Honda Hornet 2.0 along with the new Pulsar N160 and Pulsar NS160 on a relatively better footing.

    Scooter sales also grew by 21.94% YoY to 1,65,535 units in Nov 2024. This was up from 1,35,749 units sold in Nov 2023 relating to a 29,786 unit volume growth. Scooters command a 42.18% share in the company lineup. It was the company’s e-scooter segment, that currently consists of the iQube, that saw the highest growth in Nov 2024. Sales were up 56.67% YoY to 26,292 units over 16,782 units sold in the same month last year.
    The XL moped too received added attention from buyers last month. Sales went up by 7.29% to 46,691 units over 43,518 units sold in Nov 2023. This took total 2W domestic sales to 3,05,323 units in Nov 2024, a 6.38% YoY growth from 2,87,017 units sold in the same month last year. Exports of the company too surged by 33.90% YoY to 87,150 units. This along with improved domestic sales took total 2W sales to 3,92,473 units. This was an 11.47% YoY growth from 3,52,103 units sold in Nov 2023.
    3Ws too saw an improved demand in domestic markets by 8.01% to 2,172 units over 2,011 units sold in Nov 2023. However, 3W exports dipped by 34.71% YoY to 6,605 units. Total 3W sales thus suffered a 27.63% decline to 8,777 units in the past month. Growth of 6.39% was seen in total 2+3W domestic sales to 3,07,495 units while total exports went up by 24.67% to 93,755 units.

    Month-on-month (MoM) sales of TVS declined across all segments in Nov 2024. Motorcycle sales were down by 21.91% while scooter sales suffered a 14.43% de-growth. E-scooter sales also went down by 10.29 over 29,308 units sold in Oct 2024 while Moped sales dipped by 13.37% when compared to 53,898 unit sales of Oct 2024. This took total 2W domestic sales down 21.81% while 2W exports fell marginally by 0.59% from 87,670 units of the previous month.
    Sales also declined across the 3W segment. It fell by 22.92% in domestic markets from 2,818 units sold in Oct 2024 while exports slipped by 17.83% MoM. Total 3W sales thus suffered a 19.15% MoM de-growth over 10,856 units of Oct 2024 to 8,777 units of Nov 2024. Total domestic (2+3W) fell by 21.82% while total exports suffered a 2.04% MoM decline.     Upcoming Royal Enfield Motorcycles With New 750cc Engine – Himalayan, Interceptor, Conti GT

    Ever since Royal Enfield unveiled their 650 Twins, (Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650), the company has redefined multi-cylinder motorcycle segment. That is because Royal Enfield launched them at a jaw-dropping starting price of Rs 2.34 lakh (Ex-sh). Thus re-writing the VFM quotient in the multi-cylinder motorcycle segment.
    Today, the starting price of RE’s 650cc portfolio is Rs 3.02 lakh (Ex-sh) and it still holds the crown for being VFM. But there is a new 750cc powertrain rumoured to be under development and test mules donning the same, are spotted on multiple occasions. Here’s what we can expect out of this new 750cc powertrain.
    Royal Enfield Continental GT750 Spied

    When Royal Enfield came up with their 650cc lineup, powertrain was the main talking point as it was unlike any Royal Enfield from the recent past. Owing to its twin-cylinder engine architecture, it was substantially smooth and vibe-free, something which couldn’t be said about any of the Royal Enfield offerings of that time.
    Even today, Royal Enfield’s 650cc portfolio is arguably the smoothest and the most vibe-free. This vibe-free character is likely to be a strength of 750cc engine as well. Just like the 650cc mill, this 750cc unit will have a parallel-twin architecture. When compared to V-twin architecture, parallel-twin is cheaper to manufacture and will be priced reasonably.

    There is a good probability that this 750cc motor is a modified version of the current 650cc motor. An increase in displacement could either be in favour of a bigger bore, extracting more power or in favour of a longer stroke, extracting more torque. Both bore and stroke may be increased at the same time as well. Throttle body might be bigger too.

    Royal Enfield is likely to stick with the relaxed character of the current 650cc engine with oodles of torque in reserve. We can expect an increase in performance with this new 750cc motor. More advanced technology, such as ride-by-wire throttle, could be used for smoother on-off throttle transitions.
    More Stopping Power
    With an increase in performance, there needs to be an increase in stopping power too. Royal Enfield is tackling this with the help of dual disc brakes at the front that should provide more stopping power than what is currently on offer with the 650cc portfolio. Test mules of Himalayan 750, Interceptor 750 and Continental GT 750 all have dual disc brakes.
