2022 Ather Electric Scooter Vs Old 450X – More Range, Stability, Features

2022 Ather 450X Gen 3 is identical to the Gen 2 in terms of looks as changes are limited to functionalitiesNew Ather 450X Electric Scooter Gen 3 vs Gen 2Ather Energy has delivered consistent performance and experience. 450X is the flagship electric scooter of this Bangalore based startup. Unlike other EV startups that have had a lot of failures, breakdowns, niggles and even fire hazards, Ather has little to none.Ather knows this too as they took a dig at other EV makers in a recent TVC. While the rest of the electric scooter market is chasing range or features, Ather is also proactively updating their electric scooter. In this regard, Ather 450X has been updated to Gen 3 and it will take Ather Energy’s ethos forward. We compare the two to understand all the updates 450X Gen 3 got over the preceding model.2022 Ather Electric Scooter Vs Old 450X – PowertrainWhen parked side by side, there is not a single thing that Ather has changed to create 450X Gen 3. Except for wider and better RVMs though. But that’s it. There’s not a single mark or a sticker or anything to differentiate between the two. So where are the differences then, well, they are under the skin. For starters, the most obvious change is a new larger battery. 2022 Ather 450X Gen 3 features a larger 3.7 kWh Li-ion battery over the 2.9 kWh battery pack on Gen 2. Due to an increase in cells, it is engulfed in a larger aluminium casing which is 20 mm longer and gets new mounting points on its chassis. This has resulted in roughly 4kg weight addition too.New Ather 450X Electric Scooter Gen 3 vs Gen 2With a bigger battery, range has increased. Claimed range or the ideal range in ideal conditions used to be 116 km on Gen 2 which is now increased by 30 km to 146 km. True range was 85 km and is now 105 km, a 20 km rise with Gen 3. Now, Gen 3 offers a 105 km true range in Eco Mode, 85 km in Ride mode and Warp Mode offers 65 km.Motor is retained as the Gen 2. With a bigger battery, load from the motor is now spread out between more cells and hence less heat is generated. Also factoring in the fact that longer range means less frequent charging, we can see better battery health too. But charging time is now increased by 55 minutes due to the larger battery.Feature Upgrades & PricingFor starters, rear tyre wrapped around the 12” alloy wheel, is now 100 section over 90 section unit on Gen 2. Front 90/90 tyre size is retained. Ather didn’t just slap an off-the-shelf MRF tyre and call it a day. They co-developed new tyres with MRF for the Gen 3, vastly improving the handling. Ather claims that the new tyres offer 22% better grip. This helps deliver better acceleration, better control on the road as well as reduces braking distance considerably. Take a look at the detailed walkaround video of the new Ather Gen 3 electric scooter below, by Anubhav Chauhan.[embedded content][embedded content]Other upgrades include a faster processor for the touchscreen dashboard along with double the RAM and storage at 2 GB and 16 GB respectively. Along with making the UI noticeably faster, larger storage allows Ather to offer voice commands and offline maps via an OTA update like found on Ola S1 Pro Move OS 2.2022 Ather 450X Gen 3 prices vary from city to city. It is priced at Rs. 1.39 lakh (ex-sh) in Delhi, a Rs. 1,000 increment and Rs. 1.55 lakh (ex-sh) in Bengaluru, a Rs. 5,000 increment. 450X Gen 3 mainly competes with Ola S1 Pro, TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and upcoming Simple Energy One which is expected to be the next market disruptor after S1 Pro. Bajaj Dynamo Name Registered – New Motorcycle Or Electric Scooter?

Earlier also, Bajaj had registered other names such as Pulsar Elan, Pulsar Eleganz, Twinner and BladeBajaj registers the name DYNAMOWhile OEMs register new names quite regularly, not every nameplate reaches production stage. It’s a good strategy nonetheless, as there’s no last moment scramble for a catchy brand name. OEMs often register multiple brand names, so that they can choose the most appropriate option when product development and production plans are finalized.Talking about Bajaj, the latest addition is Dynamo. While the name has reached the stage of ‘formalities check pass’, it has not received final approval. The name has been registered under Class 12, which covers ICE two-wheelers, electric vehicles as well as three-wheelers.Bajaj Dynamo – possible optionsThe term ‘Dynamo’ is commonly associated with a device that converts rotational mechanical energy into electrical energy. Since it refers to electricity, it is possible that Bajaj Dynamo has to do something with an electric vehicle. However, in terms of how products get their names, Dynamo doesn’t come across as a suitable name. It will be more relevant if used for a component or system, for example, a new ICE platform or EV powertrain. Class 12 of patent registration covers all such possibilities.Dynamo is also used to describe something energetic and spirited, for example, an energetic individual. In that sense, Bajaj Dynamo nameplate may be used for any type of vehicle, irrespective of the type of powertrain. It could be used for a new electric commercial vehicle, meant for B2B and B2C deliveries. It could be an electric three-wheeler as well.Bajaj Cruiser Motorcycle RenderAs not much info is available at this point of time, it is difficult to say what exactly Bajaj has planned for Dynamo nameplate. Moreover, there are no recent sightings of any new vehicle that could potentially be linked to this new name. Overall, it can be said that there’s a greater probability of Dynamo related to an electric vehicle.Upcoming Bajaj bikesIn the coming years, Bajaj will continue to focus on both its ICE and EV portfolio. Surely, more efforts are needed on the EV front, as currently Bajaj has only Chetak electric scooter. Bajaj is currently working with Yulu on the development of an entirely new EV that is expected to be launched later this year. This will not be sold in retail market like Chetak. It will be utilized exclusively by Yulu for its technology-driven mobility platform. For consumers, Bajaj has plans to expand Chetak portfolio to include new products as well as new sub-brands. For example, there are plans to launch Pulsar electric motorcycles. Bajaj is also working with KTM and Husqvarna for development of their electric two-wheelers.As Chetak has proved its mettle in domestic market, Bajaj is planning to launch it in overseas markets as well. ASEAN markets could be targeted first, as they have higher sales of electric two-wheelers. More

Hero Splendor 125cc New Black Colour Launch – First Look Walkaround

Super Splendor is the result of Hero’s effort of expanding the popular Splendor brand to offer with 125cc engine2022 Hero Splendor 125cc Matte Black LaunchedHero MotoCorp is currently the highest-selling motorcycle brand in India. Driving the sales for Hero is the ever-popular Splendor series of commuter motorcycles. Splendor brand is a force to reckon with as sales continue to ramp up almost every month. To incorporate a 125 cc engine with its popular Splendor range, Hero created the Super Splendor 125.This formula has boosted Splendor series sales even further as seen in our top 10 motorcycles post. Super Splendor only gets a 125 cc engine while Splendor Plus only gets a 100 cc engine and Splendor iSmart 110 gets only a 110 cc engine establishing a clear distinction between the three. But now the flagship of Splendor series has gotten a new variant.Hero Splendor 125cc New Black ColourThe largest motorcycle company in India, recently took to social media to announce a new variant of Super Splendor 125. According to the teaser, it would be “All Black”. That is exactly what Hero MotoCorp has delivered. All Black variants seem to be inspired by Canvas Black colour shade offered with Splendor Plus.Till now, Super Splendor was offered in five different colour shades. They were Glaze Black, Dusky Black, Nexus Blue, Heavy Grey, and CB Red. But both the black shades offered before were not monotone black. They had accent colours and a lot of graphics. As we know, Hero leans too much on graphics to spruce up their products. But always end up overdoing it.2022 Hero Splendor 125cc Black Colour LaunchedBut Splendor Plus gets Canvas Black shade that is devoid of any graphics and looks super clean. Looking at Hero Splendor 125cc New Black, Hero seems to have taken the same route too. This new All Black shade also looks super clean without any graphics. The only thing that breaks its black monotone is Super Splendor 3D badge on the fuel tank and Hero badge on the side body panels. This new All Black variant is offered in two different finishes. One is a regular Gloss Black finish and the other is a super stealth Matt Black finish that adds a lot of elegance to the Super Splendor. If it was our money, we’d definitely bet on the Matt Black option. Take a look at the walkaround video below, credited to R Rohit.[embedded content][embedded content]Specs & LaunchHero Super Splendor is powered by a 125cc BS6 compliant engine with XSens Technology. This engine develops 10.73 BHP of power at 7500 RPM and torque of 10.6 Nm @ 6000 RPM. This engine is paired with a 5-Speed Gearbox unlike a 4-speed unit on other Splendor branded bikes. This gearbox is said to be optimised for both city and highway riding.i3S tech makes sure that the daily commutes are eco-friendly and wallet-friendly too by enabling engine start/stop feature. Hero also allows users to turn off i3S if they find it obtrusive. Super Splendor chassis is a diamond frame with 180mm ground clearance and offers a long seat. It is offered in both Disc and Drum variants. The former gets a 240mm front Disc brake at front.Super Splendor gets a 130mm drum brake at the rear and CBS tech. It gets 18” wheels with a 90/90-18 tyre at the rear. It also gets a USB phone charger and an analog-digital instrument console. The new All Black variant prices are slightly more than the existing variants, which are priced from Rs 77k to Rs 81k, ex-sh. Currently, it competes with Honda CB Shine 125 and Hero’s own Glamour 125. More

    2022 Honda CBR150R Repsol Edition Debuts – Yamaha R15 M Rival

Honda CBR150R Repsol Edition is derived from Honda’s MotoGP machine with similar colour scheme2022 Honda CBR150R Repsol EditionHonda Motorcycles & Scooter India is currently the second largest two-wheeler manufacturer currently on sale in India in terms of sales volume. They are like Maruti Suzuki when it comes to scooter sales. Honda scooters like Activa series are the default for most people and sold 1,84,305 units in June 2022 as seen in top 10 scooter sales.Motorcycle side, they have the CB Shine which is currently the second highest-selling motorcycle in the country after Hero Splendor, of course. But when it comes to faired sporty motorcycles, we used to get both CBR150R and CBR250R. But now, we don’t get both of those motorcycles for reasons best known to Honda. It’s not like India is a dead market for sporty faired motorcycles with a smaller 150cc engine. We have YZF-R15 from Yamaha which is ridiculously expensive and also the brilliant Suzuki Gixxer SF. But unfortunately, we don’t get CBR150R here in India since its discontinuation in 2017. But Malaysia gets it and to add salt to our wounds, it recently got the Repsol Edition too.Honda CBR150R Repsol EditionRepsol Edition is a way for Honda to give its smaller machines a look like its prized MotoGP machine. Because it is mechanically identical to the normal CBR150R on which it is based. Repsol Edition brings with it the iconic orange splash like on MotoGP machine. This iconic orange is found almost everywhere including its sharp fairing, fuel tank, subframe and also 17” alloy wheels. On the side fairing, it also gets a dash of white and red.2022 Honda CBR150R Repsol EditionWe can also see Repsol livery proudly adorning the motorcycle on side fairing and the front. The front Repsol livery looks a little too much, in our opinion. But hey, that’s what Honda gives. But what seals the deal is the fact that this Repsol Edition will be sold in limited numbers. 800, to be precise.Specs & CompetitionHonda CBR150R is powered by a 149.16 cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC unit which dishes out 17.1 bhp of peak power at 9,000 RPM and 14.4Nm of peak torque at 7,000 RPM. It gets a Diamond type frame, Showa SFF Big-piston USD forks at front and a mono-shock unit doing duties at the rear.CBR150R gets a 276 mm petal disc up front and a 220 mm petal disc at the rear wheel. It gets dual-channel ABS but only in higher-spec variants. Honda CBR150R tips the scale at just 139 kg. Honda CBR150R Repsol Edition costs RM 13,499 in Malaysia, which is approximately Rs. 2.42 lakh when converted. It is still cheaper than rival Yamaha R15M, which is priced at RM 14,998 or Rs 2.7 lakh.2022 Honda CBR150R Repsol EditionHonda CBR150R comes off as less of a performer as it makes slightly less power and torque than its arch-rival, Yamaha YZF-R15, as seen in a dedicated comparison post between the two. Considering the success of R15, Honda CBR150R makes a lot of sense in India. We say India because, Honda has patented the CBR150R in our country and might be even considering it too. Honda is set to launch a new product in India on 8th of August 2022. We predict that it would be the Forza 350 maxi-scooter or the CRF300L ADV as the upcoming launch is exclusive to BigWings dealerships. But there is a tiny possibility that Honda can launch the CBR150R too. We can only say for sure next month. More

And on the letter T, Tork is mentioned. One might wonder why they call themselves OATS. Well, the reference here is to the famous Rajiv Bajaj comment, which he had made in October last year, at the new Pulsar 250 launch event. Bajaj had coined two acronyms that day – BET and OATS. BET referring to Bajaj, Enfield and TVS. While OATS refers to Ola, Ather, Tork and Simple. He had said that BET on champions, as champions eat OATS for breakfast.Rajiv Bajaj at Pulsar launch. But when we talk about scooters, Activa is the king and is expected to be for the foreseeable future. But Honda’s premium offerings like H’ness CB350 constitute about 50 times fewer sales than Activa. This is expected in a country like India where commuters and budget scooters outsell everything. But Honda CB350 is a retro-styled motorcycle that aims at nostalgic customers.A similar strategy is employed by Royal Enfield and their Classic 350, arch-rival to CB350, sold 25,425 units in June 2022 and 29,959 units in May 2022. Where Honda H’ness CB350 sold 3,308 units in May 2022. This is a staggering difference between two different products aiming at the same audience. CB350 makes 20.78 bhp and 30 Nm which is more than Classic 350’s 20.2 bhp and 27 Nm. Still, Classic 350 is unmatched at this point.Honda CB350 BrigadeIn an attempt to drive more sales, Honda is aiming to hit the Indian nostalgia a little more. Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has recently filed a trademark for CB350 Brigade name in India. Earlier this month, we saw Honda share a new teaser invite for 8th Aug. Is it a new variant like we got the CB350RS? CB350 Brigade might be Honda’s attempt to pay homage to the Indian armed forces. It might be a special defence forces edition of CB350. This is not a new concept as Royal Enfield has been doing it for quite some time now. Even Jawa and Yezdi have done the same. With 15th Aug being India’s Independence Day, that is a possibility.Launch & CompetitionFrom Royal Enfield stables, we have seen Pegasus 500 and 350 Signals Edition. Pegasus 500 was a limited edition model which was designed to pay tribute to Royal Enfield’s involvement with British Army in World War II. It was limited to only 1,000 units worldwide. Some of those 1,000 units were also sold in India. Pegasus 500 was only offered with Classic 500 and in two exclusive shades namely, Olive Drab Green and Service Brown. While Signals Edition is not a limited edition like the Pegasus 500 was. Also, Signals Edition is only offered in India unlike Pegasus 500 which was offered globally. Signals Edition was heavily inspired by Pegasus 500 in terms of looks, but was offered here in India based on Classic 350. Royal Enfield Signals Edition is an attempt by the Chennai-based company to pay tributes to Indian Military. It was offered in two colours namely, Airborne Blue and Stormrider Sand.We can expect Honda CB350 to get a similar vibe as Royal Enfield Classic 350 Signals Edition. It might also feature the numbering like Signals Edition too and get exclusive colours. Right now, Honda CB350 range starts from Rs. 1.95 lakh (ex-sh) and we expect Brigade variant to be priced at a premium of Rs. 15,000.  More
