Yamaha Aerox 155 is powered by a performant 155cc engine derived from YZF-R15 V4 and gets a host of mechanical goodies along with itYamaha Aerox 155 Monster Energy MotoGP EditionYamaha Aerox 155 is that one scooter that might come under “Do it all” category. It is not the only one of its kind as we have maxi-styled scooters like Aprilia SXR 160. As their names indicate, Aprilia gets a 160.03cc engine, while Yamaha gets a 155cc engine. We also have maxi-styled scooters in 125cc segments like Suzuki Burgman Street and Aprilia SXR 125.Sticking to higher capacity maxi-styled scooters, Honda is surprisingly absent from this segment. It is not a reflection of Honda’s interest in scooters in India at all. As the Jap is currently the highest-selling scooter manufacturer in the country by an outstanding margin. With Aerox 155, Yamaha has not just offered a maxi-styled scooter and called it a day. Aerox 155 gets a lot of sauce to compete to the highest level. Sauce in the form of an R15-derived 155cc engine with a 4V head, VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) and liquid cooling. Yeah! Show me another scooter this techy and at this price point. I’ll wait.2022 Yamaha Aerox MotoGP EditionTo offer more visual sauce, Yamaha has now launched a Monster Energy MotoGP Edition. This move comes with introduction of 2022 Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP Edition line-up, under ‘The Call of the Blue’ brand campaign in India. We also witnessed a MotoGP Edition of R15 V4 earlier this month too.Yamaha Scooter Prices – September 2022In this regard, Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. announced the pricing too. MotoGP Edition of the maxi-sports scooter is priced at Rs. 1,41,300 (Ex-showroom, Delhi), and is available across all premium Blue Square outlets in India. At just Rs. 2,000 increment, the asking price doesn’t seem to be much either. Yamaha promises to offer MotoGP-inspired editions in the future as well. For this extra money, Yamaha Aerox 155 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition draws inspiration from colour schemes of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP M1 Motorcycle. This sporty scooter now gets an all-black colour treatment along with Yamaha MotoGP branding on the visor, front apron, front mudguard, side panels, rear panels and the ‘X’ Centre Motif. We have seen a similar design before as well.Specs & FeaturesComing to what drives Yamaha Aerox Monster Energy MotoGP Edition forward, we have R15 V4’s engine. It displaces 155cc and makes 15 PS of power at 8,000 RPM and 13.9 Nm of torque at 6,500 RPM. That’s not all. It gets VVA tech, a 4V head, liquid cooling and is mated to a CVT, unlike R15 which is mated to a 6-speed gearbox.Yamaha Motorcycles Prices – September 2022Mechanically, this Yamaha Aerox Monster Energy MotoGP Edition is completely carried over. Talking about its cycle parts, it gets telescopic front suspension, mono-shock suspension at the rear, front disc brake measuring 230mm, and rear drum brake. Yamaha Aerox 155 gets 14” alloy wheels at both ends with 110/80 section rubber at front and 140/70 section rubber at the rear. Also on offer is single-channel ABS as standard. With a low 790mm seat height and relatively low 126 kg of kerb weight, Aerox 155 comes off as an easy scooter to fettle with. Especially considering the performance and equipment it packs. Features include a large 24.5L boot and Bluetooth connectivity among others. Standard trim price start from Rs. 1,39,300 and Yamaha Aerox Monster Energy MotoGP Edition costs Rs. 1,41,300 (both prices ex-sh). More

Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler Spied With Single Exhaust Setup

After expanding its 350cc range, Royal Enfield is looking to aggressively target the 650cc segment by launching multiple new bikesRoyal Enfield 650cc Scrambler SpiedWith 650 twins emerging as popular options in domestic and international markets, there seems ample scope to accommodate more body styles. Based on sightings of test mules, there are at least three new 650cc Royal Enfield bikes under development. Latest spy shots are from UK, where a 650cc scrambler version has been spotted on road tests. It is possible that Royal Enfield’s 650cc scrambler could be launched as ‘Constellation’. This name was used earlier by Royal Enfield for its 700cc bike sold in North America between 1958 and 1963. In India, both ‘Constellation’ and ‘Royal Enfield Constellation’ trademarks have been registered by Eicher Motors.Royal Enfield 650cc scrambler spiedRoyal Enfield 650cc scrambler shares several of its features with other 650cc test mules spotted earlier on road tests. Retro styling is apparent, with features such as round headlamp, rear view mirrors, turn indicators and rear tail lamp. The bike has a dual-pod instrument cluster, which is likely to be same as 650 twins. Tear-drop shaped fuel tank has familiar contours as seen with Interceptor. While the engine is the same as 650 twins, one key difference is the single-exit exhaust. The exhaust canister is a stubbier unit with blacked-out finish, as compared to extended, metallic shaded units used with 650 twins. The changes to the exhaust setup should ensure enhanced agility and manoeuvrability, which will come handy during rush hour traffic.Royal Enfield 650cc Scrambler SpiedOther key features of Royal Enfield 650cc scrambler include inverted front forks, single-piece saddle, wire-spoke wheels and racing-inspired side panels. At rear, the bike seems to be using a new pair of dual shock absorbers. Both ends have disc brakes and will be offered with dual-channel ABS as standard.Royal Enfield’s upcoming 650cc scrambler has a comfortable, upright riding stance. With centrally mounted foot pegs and ergonomic handlebar position, users can expect to cover long distances with minimal discomfort. India-specific components such as saree guard can also be seen on the test mule.Royal Enfield 650cc scrambler performancePowering the 650cc scrambler will be the 648cc, parallel-twin motor that does duty on 650 twins. It generates 47 bhp of max power and 52 Nm of peak torque. While the engine will be offered in the same state of tune as 650 twins, the scrambler could have a better power-to-weight ratio. With the single-exit, stubbier exhaust unit, RE 650cc scrambler will be lighter in comparison to 650 twins.Apart from its 350cc and 650cc range, Royal Enfield is also working to improve Himalayan. A new 450cc Himalayan is currently under development, which will be aiming to fix the limitations reported with Himalayan 411. While power and torque will be on the higher side, Himalayan 450 will also get some new features such as USD front forks. It will have a sportier body style to establish a better connect with evolving consumer preferences.Source More

New TVS Apache 160cc Detailed In First Look Walkaround

For MY2022, TVS Apache RTR 2V new model gets slightly more power and at the same time, slightly less weightNew TVS Apache 160ccApache is to TVS what Pulsar is to Bajaj. With arch rivalry between the two for more than a decade. Pulsar was an instant hit for Bajaj and marked a new direction for the brand. For a long time, TVS Apache series is the only logical and significant rival for Pulsar series. This duo was also joined by FZ series by Yamaha.Even today, when we take motorcycle sales, Pulsar series outsell both Apache series and FZ series. That is because Bajaj has a lot more motorcycles under its Pulsar series than TVS has in Apache series and Yamaha has in FZ series.Recently, TVS updated its Apache RTR 2V range to MY2022 with subtle upgrades. They make the Apache RTR 2V New model a better offering than its predecessor. Let’s take a look at what all the changes are.New TVS Apache 160cc WalkaroundFor starters, these upgrades are offered with both 160cc model and 180cc model as well. With its Apache RTR 4V range, TVS had offered a slew of new and modern features. In comparison, one could say that 2V range was a little uninspiring. But that has now changed. Take a look at the detailed walkaround video below, credited to The Sameer Vlogs.[embedded content][embedded content]Newer bikes have been blessed with slightly more power. And, at the same time, reduced the weight as well. Weight reduction is 2 kg with Apache RTR 160 and 1 kg with Apache RTR 180. This allows for higher power:weight ratio than before. The fact that this weight reduction is possible despite added features, is even more commendable.Previously, RTR 160 made 15.31 bhp and 13.9 Nm and now, it makes 16 bhp and 13.85 Nm. RTR 180 however, made 16.56 bhp and 15.5 Nm and now makes 17 bhp and 15.5 Nm. These upgrades are under the skin and are not visible to naked eye. What is visible though, are the added features.Feature AdditionsSpeaking of upgrades, the one that is immediately noticeable is its new headlight design. Previously, both RTR 160 and 180 used to get halogen bulbs along with LED DRLs. But now, both models are upgraded to LED headlights and slightly redesigned LED DRLs. Even the LED taillights are new and get 3D LED elements that look sharper than the previous model.New TVS Apache 160ccOther changes include a slightly redesigned chrome exhaust cover, grippier and wider tyres and some more. The main change is in the form of its fully digital instrument console which now gets Bluetooth connectivity along with 3 riding modes. Old model used to get an analog tachometer with a small digital display for speedo and other functions. Apache RTR 2V new models get dual channel ABS, slipper clutch and also a new fuel injection system.TVS offers a slew of new colours too. Both get Matt Blue, Racing Red, Gloss Black, T Grey and Pearl White option. In terms of pricing, Apache RTR 2V new models start at Rs. 1,17,790 for 160cc model and Rs. 1,30,590 for 180cc model. More

Honda Activa Owner Charged Rs 55,000 At Petrol Pump – Instead Of Rs 550

Payment systems need to be fully automated to reduce the risk of unwanted liabilities arising from human error and misjudgementHonda Activa Owner Charged Rs 55,000 At Petrol PumpWith hard cash, the usual set of problems faced include shortage of smaller denomination currency notes, risk of counterfeit notes, torn/soiled notes, etc. Digital payments have done away with all such issues, but some new ones have been created in the process. Payments getting stuck, account debited but not credited and weak network signal are among the most common. At locations where the amount needs to be entered manually, there’s always the risk of human error. A recent example involves a Honda Activa owner who was charged Rs 55,000 instead of Rs 550. The incident occurred at a Shell fuel pump in Thane, Maharashtra. Thankfully, the matter was resolved amicably, with the owner getting the refund on the same day. What Happened? After filling the fuel tank of his Honda Activa, the owner made the payment by scanning the QR code shown by the fuel pump attendant. He made the payment via Google Pay. Once the payment was made, he was surprised to see the amount that was debited from his account. The amount was to be about Rs 550. But instead, the fuel pump attendant had by mistake generated QR code for Rs 55,000.Attendants at fuel pumps have to process hundreds of payments every day. Depending on the location, a significant percentage of these are digital payments. At most fuel stations, the amount has to be entered manually on the handheld POS machine. As number of transactions is quite high, the risk of human error is always present. Moreover, attendants are under pressure, as they have to ensure that the exact amount is entered.Honda Activa Owner Charged Rs 55,000 at petrol pumpEntering the wrong amount on the POS machine can also be due to lack of proper training and awareness. Newer machines that display a QR code for making payment are relatively easier to use as compared to older versions. Newer POS machines utilize capacitive touchscreens, as compared to the button keys of older generation POS machines. Newer POS machines also have larger and clearer displays.Despite these factors, the Activa owner was still overcharged. It is not clear what exactly led to this error. As newer POS machines offer smartphone-like clarity, it is difficult to tag this incident as a casual error. On their part, users can avoid such incidents by taking a look at the amount displayed on the POS machine screen before making the payment.Integration of fuel pump and POS machinesTo avoid incidents of overcharging, the human element needs to be completely eliminated. Fuel pumps need to be connected wirelessly to the POS machines, so that the amount shown is always equal to the value of fuel dispensed. Something similar has already been implemented at various retail outlets, where POS machines automatically fetch the amount from the bill generated. As no manual entry is involved, the risk of charging less or more is completely eliminated.Petrol pump transferred the excess amount back via NEFT to Honda Activa ownerCurrent-gen POS machines that display QR code for payment can also be improved by displaying the amount more prominently. As of now, the QR code takes most of the space and the amount is displayed in a corner in small font. If the amount is displayed more clearly, users can immediately spot a wrong entry. More
