      After launching biggest 250cc Pulsar and new-gen N160, Bajaj is in the process of introducing similar design aesthetics across the Pulsar rangeNew Bajaj Pulsar N125 or New 150cc?It is likely that the next in line to get cosmetic updates and possibly some performance boost will be the bestselling Pulsar motorcycles. In that sense, the preferred candidates will be Pulsar 125 and Pulsar 150. As of now, more than 80% of overall Pulsar motorcycle sales are contributed by smaller capacity Pulsar 125 and Pulsar 150. The former is the largest contributor with more than 50% share in Pulsar sales.A test mule spotted recently can be seen with front and rear disc brakes. This increases the likelihood of Pulsar 150. As compared to existing Pulsar 150 that has dual gas filled rear shock absorber, the test mule can be seen with monoshock rear suspension.This feature is already available with NS125. Another key difference can be seen in the underbelly exhaust, as compared to a standard-looking upswept exhaust used with current Pulsar 150.New Pulsar N125 and Pulsar 150 featuresWhile test mules of N125 / new-gen Pulsar 150 have been spotted wearing heavy camouflage, it is easy to notice that the core design language is similar to Pulsar 250 and N160. Some of the key features include aggressive headlamp design, sporty rear view mirrors, beefy tank shrouds, telescopic front forks, prominent engine cowl, sleek turn signals and sharp tail section.New Bajaj Pulsar N125 or New 150cc?While Pulsar 250 and N160 and even NS125 have split-seat design, it is likely that Pulsar N125 and new-gen Pulsar 150 will be getting a single-piece seat. NS125 already has an underbelly exhaust, which will be visually largely the same with N125. Both N125 and new-gen Pulsar 150 will have a comfortable riding stance, with centrally placed foot pegs and ergonomically placed handlebar.Pulsar N125, Pulsar 150 performanceIt is possible that engines for N125 and Pulsar 150 can be updated, as per new architecture used for Pulsar 250. Recently launched N160 also utilizes an updated engine that offers improved reliability and faster acceleration.It has segment-best torque availability and fastest passing acceleration in 3rd, 4th and 5th gear. Gear shifts have been smoothened and noise and vibrations have been reduced. Similar set of improvements can be expected with the Pulsar N125 and new Pulsar 150.New Bajaj Pulsar N125 or New 150cc?When launched, Pulsar N125 will work as a replacement for current NS125. In its current format, NS125 generates 12 PS of max power at 8,500 rpm and 11 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh transmission. In case of Pulsar 150, power and torque output is 14 PS and 13.25 Nm.Sensing more opportunities in 125cc segment, Bajaj is also readying CT125X. It will be a sportier version of the entry-level CT motorcycle, with features like rugged headlamp design with metal guards, V-shaped DRL, fork gaiters, tank pads, quilted seat design and rear rack. Engine could be same as the upcoming Pulsar N125. Launch price of Bajaj CT125X is likely to be around Rs 80k. At first glance, it looks like a Himalayan that is crossing river somewhere in Ladakh region. It does not take long for one to realize that it is not the Himalayan that is currently on sale. But something else. The video has the caption – Testing 1, 2, 3..Well, this is the first official teaser of the upcoming new Himalayan, that is popularly known as the Himalayan 450. Though the teaser only shows the front LED headlight, earlier test mules that were spotted in full camouflage, revealed design tweaks. These include changes to the headlamp cowl, windshield, front beak, fuel tank and side panels. Being an all-terrain bike, it’s a tad difficult for designers to balance the needs of highway cruising and off-road tracks. Himalayan has witnessed continuous improvements over the years and riding comfort can be expected to be better with the new 450cc model.Himalayan 450 engine and specsPowering new Himalayan will be a 450cc engine, capable of generating close to 40 bhp of max power and 45 Nm of peak torque. This makes it a more powerful machine, as compared to the likes of KTM 390 Adventure and BMW G 310 GS. In its current form, Himalayan produces a modest 24.3 bhp and 32 Nm. Another key update will be a 6-speed transmission, replacing the existing 5-speed unit.Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Side ViewEquipped with USD forks at front, new Himalayan 450 will have better handling and control at high speeds. At rear, the bike will have monoshock suspension. Riding on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels, new Himalayan 450 will be dimensionally similar to the current model.Braking system will have disc brakes at both ends, integrated with dual-channel ABS as standard. As compared to manually switchable ABS offered with current Himalaya, the new model will have automatic function. Rear ABS will be switched off automatically as soon as the user selects off-road ride mode. There will be other ride modes as well such as road and rain.Other key updates will include features like ride-by-wire throttle. Heated grips could also be offered as an option. This will come handy when riding in cooler climes. Users will also be able to choose from multiple options for handlebar and handguards. The 200cc naked streetfighter in its upcoming avatar was first spotted testing somewhere in Europe a few months ago, along with the new Duke 390.New-Gen Duke 200 Spied- Styling UpdatesBy the looks of it, the new Duke 200 is expected to receive significant upgrades over its predecessor. Along with new styling elements, Duke 200 has incorporated some major changes under its skin in the form of an updated chassis and powertrain. Overall design appears to be sharper and more in line with the larger twin cylinder Dukes.Another prominent update is a new split headlamp casing which is a stark departure from the present single unit. Also, it has been equipped with full LED internals this time unlike the ones retailed in India which get halogen headlamps. Interestingly, its tail section looks a little flatter in comparison to the present model which should make it more accessible for a pillion.2023 KTM Duke 200Hardware UpdatesSome major changes have been made to the chassis of Duke 200 which now features a completely redesigned tubular steel space frame. The two-piece configuration of the frame has been retained but it gets additional crossbeams to make construction look more robust. The rear subframe has also been reworked and the tubular design has been replaced by a screwed-on die-cast aluminum.It also gets a new swingarm with a new support brace that arches up and over the chain drive. Another significant change is an offset rear mono-shock which replaces the centrally mounted unit in the existing model. Additionally, the engine now sits on new cast aluminum brackets.Powertrain ChangesSpeaking of engine, the upcoming Duke 200 is expected to receive an updated heart. The single-cylinder motor gets a completely new design with a new casing which is aimed at offering a more powerful ignition as well as better fuel efficiency. The exhaust tailpipe has been shortened and though the new Duke 200 gets an underbelly exhaust, it flaunts a new muffler.Other visible updates include new 5-spoke alloy wheels with new cast rims which appear lighter. Further, single disc brake setup on the front wheel moves from left to right side although it is clamped by similar radially mounted callipers. It will be interesting to see which changes actually trickle down to the production-spec bike when it is launched.       Top 10 Motorcycles July 2022 – Splendor, Pulsar, Apache, Classic 350

      Two wheeler sales increased 27.92 percent on a YoY basis with scooter sales up 27.53 percent and Motorcycles up 5.24 percentImage – KDTwo wheeler sales were on an upward trajectory in July 2022. In the earlier post we discussed top selling two wheelers as well as top 10 scooters. In this post, we will exclusively take a look at the top 10 motorcycles for the month.Growth was seen across the scooter and motorcycle segments. While the Honda Activa was the best-selling scooter, it was the Hero Splendor that continued to command the motorcycle segment. Each of the leading two wheeler makers have posted YoY growth. Total motorcycle sales on the top 10 list in the past month stood at 7,30,417 units, up 5.24 percent from 6,94,032 units sold in July 2021.Top 10 Motorcycle Sales July 2022Hero Splendor topped the list despite a YoY de-growth of 0.15 percent. Sales stood at 2,50,409 units in July 2022, down from 2,50,794 units sold in July 2021. The Splendor commands a 34.28 percent share. The recently launched Hero Splendor 125cc Black Colour adds to the lineup.At No. 2 was the Honda CB Shine with a 1.26 percent YoY de-growth to 1,14,663 units, down from 1,16,128 units sold in July 2021. This was a 1,465 unit volume de-growth with the CB Shine commanding a 15.70 percent share. Maximum YoY growth was seen in the case of Bajaj Pulsar. Sales increased 56.55 percent to 1,01,905 units in July 2022, up from 65,094 units sold in July 2021. This was 36,811 unit volume growth. The Pulsar commands a 13.95 percent share.Top 10 Motorcycles July 2022Hero HF Deluxe was at No. 4 among the best-selling motorcycles sold in July 2022. Sales dipped 8.33 percent YoY to 97,451 units, from 1,06,304 units sold in July 2021. Hero MotoCorp had increased prices across its motorcycle and scooter range in July 2022 following which the HF Deluxe is now priced from Rs 55,450 to Rs 65,520.Next in line was the Bajaj Platina with sales of 48,484 units in July 2022. This was an 11.21 percent YoY de-growth from 54,606 units sold in July 2021. Bajaj also increased prices across range in July 2022 and the Platina is now priced from Rs 63,130 to Rs 69,216 for drum and disc variants respectively.Hero Glamour sales increased 49.34 percent YoY to 30,774 units in July 2022. This was up from 20,606 units sold in July 2021. Hero Glamour commands a 4.21 percent share. In this post, we will take a look at the top 10 scooters sold last month. Total top 10 scooter sales in July 2022 stood at 4,29,433 units, up 27.53 percent over 3,36,728 units sold in July 2021. This was a 92,705 unit volume growth. The Honda Activa scooter has once again led scooter sales in India in July 2022. It has scaled above every other model by a massive margin commanding a 49.79 percent share.Honda Activa sales stood at 2,31,807 units in July 2022, up 31.21 percent as against 1,62,956 units sold in July 2021. This was a 50,851 unit volume growth with the Activa commanding a 49.79 percent share. The other scooters on this list added combined sales of 2,15,626 units, which is just 1,819 units more than sales of Honda Activa. None of the other models on this list were able to cross the 65,000 unit mark.Top 10 Scooters July 2022 – 9 Petrol, 1 ElectricNext in line was the Jupiter scooter with 62,094 units sold in the past month, up 62.51 percent over 38,209 units sold in July 2021. Volume growth was at 23,885 units with Jupiter holding a 14.46 percent share on this list.Suzuki Access at No. 3 posted a YoY de-growth of 11.80 percent to 41,440 units in July 2022, down from 46,985 units sold in July 2021. Suzuki Access 125 is priced between Rs 78,300 and Rs 86,200, while the Avenis, another scooter in the company lineup, but not making its appearance on this list, is available between Rs 87,500 and Rs 89,300.Top 10 Scooters July 2022Honda Dio sales increased 75.83 percent YoY to 36,229 units, up from 20,604 units sold in July 2021. This was a 15,625 unit volume growth with an 8.44 percent share. Earlier this month, Honda also launched the Dio Sports Limited Edition priced at Rs 68,317 for Standard trim and at Rs. 73,317 for top-spec Deluxe variant (prices ex-showroom).Sales of TVS Ntorq remained more or less flat on a YoY basis with a marginal 1.60 percent increase to 24,367 units in July 2022 up from 23,983 units sold in July 2021. Hero Pleasure has seen a YoY de-growth of 26.65 percent to 12,993 units in July 2022, down from 17,713 units sold in July 2021.Okinawa Praise Pro Electric Scooter In Top 10As there is increased demand for electric scooters in recent months, Okinawa Praise Pro saw a 362.51 percent YoY growth to 10,041 units in July 2022, up from 2,171 units sold in July 2021. Making it possible are features such as low seat height and raised, pulled-back handlebars. Riding stance is quite comfortable with scooped up seat and centrally placed footpegs.Other key features of Scram 450 include sharp turn signals, fork gaiters, telescopic forks, engine bash plate, monoshock rear suspension and sporty tail section. The bike has disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS will be offered as standard. Wide rear tyre should help improve safety at high speeds, when braking and across slippery conditions.Scram 450 performanceScram 450 will be utilizing the same engine as that of upcoming Himalayan 450. One of the key reasons for developing a 450cc version of Himalayan is to fix performance limitations, as pointed out by hardcore off-road enthusiasts. Himalayan 411 makes 24.3 bhp of max power and 32 Nm of peak torque, which is significantly less than KTM 390 Adventure that churns out 43.5 PS and 37 Nm. Royal Enfield will be looking to bridge this gap in performance with Himalayan 450 model.While Himalayan 450 is expected to debut around Q1, CY23, Scram 450 will be launched a few months later. But there is a place for sporty Japs too.2023 Yamaha R3 & R7 Gets New ColoursEven though Yamaha’s higher-capacity YZF-R bikes are not offered in India, they are in huge demand in North American, European and even South East Asian markets too. Especially the liter-class R1. In America, JDM culture has been evolving at a rapid pace and Japanese motorcycles are gaining popularity too. So, Yamaha has introduced new colours for YZF-R7 and YZF-R3 in America.Yamaha R3 has been one of the favourites of supersport machine enthusiasts in India. It offered a decent bang for the buck and competed with the Kawasaki Ninja 300 which started this segment, to begin with. After it was discontinued due to stricter emission norms, it was due for a comeback. But that has not happened yet. New R3 India launch is expected by Diwali this year.2023 Yamaha R3 New ColourIn USA, R3 now gets a glossy Phantom Purple colour shade that looks outstanding. Looks wise, new R3 gets an aerodynamic shape and sharp aesthetics, largely inspired by MotoGP YZR-M1. It gets twin LED headlights, a central air duct for instant engine cooling, a compact, yet functional windscreen, RVMs and turn indicators mounted on fairing, a sporty fuel tank, sporty seats and an upswept exhaust. It gets a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.New Yamaha R7 ColourYamaha R7 is the successor of the mighty and beloved R6. R7 is a little disappointing when directly compared to R6. We say this because the R6 had a screamer of a 4-cylinder engine. It had the perfect ratio of capacity to cylinder count ensuring the best of both touring and also sporty track days. But R7 is just a twin-cylinder and can’t match the outright manic performance of a 4-cylinder.So, while R7 loses on raw performance, it also loses weight as twin-cylinder engines are generally lighter. For America, Yamaha has added Intensity White colour that is jaw-dropping in terms of appeal. There’s something about white colour that tickles the fancy of buyers. Even BMW charges Rs. 20,000 more for a white-coloured Apache RR 310.New Yamaha R7 White ColourIntensity White also gets red coloured wheels that just add more drama to the machine. Yamaha is expected to bring this R7 to our shores too. But that might happen in 2023. While R3 may launch in India around Diwali.
