Since inception, Ather Energy has made significant progress in terms of production and innovation. And have now announced a production milestone – 1,00,000 units in January 2023. The rollout unit is a True Red Ather 450X, a new colour option that was showcased for the first time earlier in January 2023. And saw factory production floor personnel celebrate the occasion.A new year. A new beginning. And with it begins a new phase in Ather’s journey. Production timeline to a lakh units is as follows. It took Ather Energy 35 months to complete production of its first 10K units. The next 5 months helped it get to the 20k production mark. And another 5 months to get to the 30k unit mark.Thereafter there was the element of swiftness to keep up with demand. It took 3 months to manufacture the next 10k units to reach production of 40k units. Reaching 50k units took another 2 months, meaning that was the quickest 10k units production timeline. That was on August 30, 2022. Now less than 6 months later, Ather Energy has manufactured another 50k units. A journey that has been nothing short of remarkable.Ather Sales Jan 2023In Jan 2023, Ather electric scooter sales crossed the 12k mark. This was a 330% YoY growth and a 32% MoM growth. Production timeline of Ather Energy shows a steady increase in production starting from 35 months to produce its first 10,000 units. This corresponds with sales of a few 100s each month when Ather scooters were first launched. As demand increased, production processes were scaled up for efficient and faster production. This was evident in the quicker production timelines of 20K and 30K units, 5 months each.Ather Electric Scooter Sales Jan 2023By August 2022, it took only 2 months to produce 10K units and reach the 50K unit mark. Ather Energy was able to sustain momentum and manufacture another 50K units in under 6 months. This significant increase in production can be attributed to the company’s ability to quickly adapt and optimize its production processes to meet growing demand for its electric scooters. To keep up, Ather inaugurated its 2nd manufacturing plant in November 2022.December 2022 sales reached 9,187 units at YoY growth from 1,878 units, with MoM improvement of 27 percent. In comparison, by the end of Q1 ( Jan, Feb, March) 2022, sales were lesser at 7,458 units. Ather Energy became one of the top-selling EV manufacturers by 2022 end, with sales tripling to 59,123 units from 17,272 units in 2021. Sales progressively improved over the year, reaching 24,634 units in Q4 2022, 40,868 units in H2 2022. It’s easy to see why Ather Energy production has been considerably scaled up in recent months.Indian e-scooter industry growth trendAther has strong sales momentum. Alongwith brand growth. By 2022 end, the manufacturer was present in 70 cities with 89 Experience Centres. January 2023 is expected to be a bumper sales month. From February 1, 2023, Ather is introducing AutoHold in its Gen 3 scooters. This detects slopes and holds your scooter in place.Ather’s commitment to sustainability and innovation is built on intelligent charging infrastructure, connected scooters, and a seamless customer experience. These efforts have had a positive impact on company growth. As the electric two wheeler industry grows, the biggest challenges faced by the industry have evolved. While the initial hiccups involved waiting for demand to grow, today it’s all about meeting demand from a customer base that’s continually evolving. Looking forward, the company is poised for continued growth and success as it continues to strive for a more sustainable future. Ather’s sales growth not only strengthens the manufacturer’s industry position, but also that of the Indian electric scooter industry.Ather Energy – Growth impact and future productionThis will be possible once a third manufacturing plant is announced by the end of FY23. To meet growing demand, this plant will have an installed production capacity of 10 lakh units per annum. This takes Ather Energy’s total capacity to over 14 lakh units per year. Current capacity is 4.2 lakh units per annum in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, and it’s expected to be fully utilized by next fiscal end.Ather also plans to expand its sales network and enhance its product portfolio, including exports in the next 2-3 years. Except for the new Spoked Wheels edition and new colours, 2023 KTM 390 Adventure is identical to 2022 model2023 KTM 390 ADVKTM’s formula of an ADV based on its explosive 390 platform has worked wonders. It has been well-received as a high-speed tourer since day one. But as an ADV for trails and off-roading? Not so much. Apart from ergonomics, KTM didn’t offer enough off-road hardware to justify the ADV tag. 2023 KTM 390 Adventure aims to fix just that. The Austrian brand has revealed 2023 KTM 390 Adventure.Ahead of the launch of new-gen 390 platform, KTM is updating its 390 Adventure to meet buyer trends. It was a formidable machine where touring and mild trailing are concerned. That said, customers who craved more off-road worthy hardware can now rejoice with the 2023 KTM 390 Adventure.2023 KTM 390 Adventure RevealedKTM is offering the one element that was asked for the most. Wire-spoke rims. These rims fare better in off-road conditions as they have a better shock absorbing and dissipating capability as opposed to alloy wheels. Manufacturers offer wire-spoke rims on off-road motorcycles and retro motorcycles. These new wheels are offered in “Spoked Wheeled” edition alongside regular cast alloy models. In the press material, KTM didn’t mention if these new wheels are tubeless or not. Usually, tubeless spoke wheels are only offered with premium off-roaders. The pictures of wheels from KTM suggest these might very well be compatible with tubeless tyres. KTM is using the exact same Continental TKC70 tyres previously used with alloy wheels.2023 KTM 390 ADVThese have block patterns and fare better in providing traction in sticky situations. Wheels themselves are made out of black anodized aluminium. With this move, 2023 KTM 390 Adventure is more befitting of its name. Rest of the motorcycle is kept identical except for new colourways.Specs & FeaturesBoth Spoked Wheeled edition and regular alloy wheel edition are on offer. As per the modder, this electric Activa conversion has a 2.88 kWh worth of prismatic cell battery costing Rs. 55,000Electric Activa Conversion Costs 1 Lakh – 2.88 kWh BatteryActiva is currently the de facto choice in the scooter segment for a majority in the segment. With 6 generations of legacy and a fan following, Activa has come a long way. Don’t let the sub 1 lakh units sold in December 2022 fool you. With still a year on the clock, Activa fans eagerly waiting for an electric scooter might be disappointed. However, there is no one stopping them from converting their existing Activa to electric, though. Yes. There are many kits, but let’s take a look at a neat conversion done in Nellore, AP.Honda Activa Petrol To ElectricA modder from Nellore, Andhra Pradesh running a YouTube channel Diy Tech.in Telugu, has neatly converted a standard ICE Activa into an EV. All the modifications come together beautifully and look cohesive. Except for a few green decals and EV stickers, people would be hard-pressed to spot that it is converted. The modder has worked on an older generation Honda Activa and swapped the engine to house an electric battery. Propulsion is achieved by a hub motor, mounted at the rear wheel. According to modder, this motor is rated at 1 kW of continuous power and 2 to 2.5 kW of peak power as well. While the battery is a 72V 40A unit with prismatic cells. This works to be 2.88 kWh worth of capacity.[embedded content][embedded content]The modder promises a range of over 120 km from a single charge. While top speed is limited to 55 km/h. Modder explains that there is a smart BMS (Battery Management System) on board and a full sine wave smart motor controller. The latter contributes to a vibe-free motor operation. The “smart” in smart BMS enables smartphone connectivity to display various vehicular info. The motor controller comes with three speeds that can be cycled through via a custom switch. There is a parking mode switch too, which cuts power to motor, when engaged. Indications for both of these are displayed in the fully digital instrument cluster.Specs & FeaturesThis Electric Activa conversion swaps the analog instrumentation of stock Activa with a fully digital unit. It displays a tonne of info including motor RPM as well. Since there is no need for an engine starter motor, the starter switch is now converted to a horn.Honda Activa Petrol to Honda Activa Electric – ModificationEngine on stock Activa is mounted on its swingarm. A new swingarm with dual shock absorbers was necessary. Stock Activa gets a single-sided mono-shock. Battery compartment and boot space were not revealed, but the charging point is mounted near footboard. As per modder, this whole conversion costs Rs. 1 lakh including base vehicle. Batteries alone command more than half of that price. An overnight charge is sufficient as per this modder to conserve battery health and he doesn’t often recommend fast charging. Icing on the cake for people opting for this conversion is a 3-year warranty on its battery. More
