Royal Enfield K1D Power Cruiser Design Leaks – To Get Himalayan 450cc Engine

Motorcycle in the image is a Benelli 502C – For reference onlyRoyal Enfield is the leading two wheeler maker in the 350-500cc segment – They will launch a range of new motorcycles to maintain leadershipRoyal Enfield has plans to launch 4 new motorcycles every year. One of these new motorcycles will be the K1D. This is the codename of Royal Enfield’s upcoming power cruiser, which will be powered by the same engine that will power the upcoming Himalayan 450cc. Design sketch of the Royal Enfield K1D power cruiser has now leaked online. From what it looks like, it is a direct inspiration from Ducati Diavel, one of the OGs in the “power cruiser” genre.Royal Enfield K1D Power CruiserFor starters, it is likely that Royal Enfield will have a slightly different-looking motorcycle than the Ducati Diavel, Benelli Leoncino and Bajaj Dominar range. But pulled-back handlebars, front set footpegs, relaxed and ergonomically upright seating posture are most probable.Royal Enfield K1D Power Cruiser LeaksThis motorcycle will come off as muscular and will flash its muscle to dominate rivals (see what I did there?). Given that the single-cylinder 400cc to 500cc motorcycle genre has had a bit of an uproar in the recent past, Royal Enfield would logically consider launching it in this segment. It will go against Triumph Speed 400 and Harley-Davidson X440.What to expectRoyal Enfield’s new 450cc single-cylinder engine will go on a bunch of other products before gracing on this new power cruiser. As of now, this engine is speculated to produce around 40 bhp of power and 45 Nm of torque. A 6-speed gearbox and liquid-cooling setup seems to be evident. We hope it brings a large fuel tank. Probably 20L to 25L would be nice. Similar to the Thunderbird range of the past. Componentry could include USD front forks similar to Himalayan 450, rear mono-shock unit, alloy wheels, fat tyres, and more.If we take a look at brand’s 13 upcoming motorcycles from their annual report, they don’t have a power cruiser planned in it. It is highly likely to be a project for the next phase of launch. By this logic, the K1D Royal Enfield power cruiser could launch in 2025 or 2026.Source More

New KTM RC 390 Spotted Testing – Larger 399cc Engine?

New KTM RC 390 designThe rumoured 399cc engine on new KTM RC 390 spotted testing recently, could make around 45 bhp and 40 Nm of torqueKTM is testing its new generation of 390 range. We’re talking about the new 390 Duke, 390 Adventure and even a new 390 Enduro (rumoured name). But the most awaited offering in that range has to be the new KTM RC 390. It is a fully-faired motorcycle with a firecracker of an engine with explosive performance.Testing has commenced and we have covered 390 Duke, 390 Adventure and 390 Enduro before. The new set of RC 390 test mules reveal a design that we saw with the 1st generation of RC motorcycles. It is almost like KTM has opened a portal back in time. Let’s take a look at what KTM has in the pipeline for us with RC range.New KTM RC 390New KTM RC 390 Spotted TestingFor starters, KTM fans weren’t too keen on 2nd gen RC motorcycle design at all. KTM had matured a lot with the 2nd gen model by toning down its aggressive design. But it seems like fans really craved that aggressive and quintessential RC look.We are getting it back, though. KTM is bringing back its mean and sleek fairing where projector headlight reside in a pronounced recess. Instead of two projectors in the 1st gen model, the upcoming 3rd gen model will get one projector containing both low and high beams. The new fairing is a lot more sleaker than the 2nd unit.New KTM RC 390 rearCooling and aerodynamics seem to be better too. ORVM stalks are new and look upmarket and more aerodynamic. The rear subframe is naked in this test mule for some reason and is missing its rear subframe body panel. Earlier spy shots had full-body panels along with a vertical LED tail light as well.New KTM RC 390 sideBecause the rear body panel and LED taillights are missing, it looks like rear LED indicators are doubling as brake lights. But that is not the case. It is highly likely that this naked rear subframe along with a rack is only limited with this test mule to accommodate testing data equipment. Also, the new KTM RC 390 will pack an underbelly exhaust too.Is a 399cc engine confirmed?Underbelly exhaust makes the overall machine compact and helps in mass centralization too. Adjustable USD front telescopic forks will let riders finesse suspension on the go. The new banana-shaped custom swingarm is common with 390 Duke as well. There will be a new instrument console too.In terms of ergonomics, it is still committed and the intended audience won’t mind it one bit. Sporty and stickier Pirelli tyres could make it to final production. Rumour mill suggests a larger 399cc single-cylinder engine with over 45 bhp of power and 40 Nm of torque. Quick shifter (up and down), slipper clutch, dual channel ABS with cornering ABS are likely features.Production will happen in India at Bajaj’s facilities. There are multiple instances of new KTM 390 Duke spottings at Bajaj’s production facilities too. Production might start in 2024 with debut probably at 2023 EICMA Show.Image source More

Hero Xtreme 200S 4V Faired Motorcycle For Rs. 1.4 Lakh- The Long and Short of It

Hero Xtreme 200S 4VHero Xtreme 200S 4V: The True Jack of All Trades in Its Price Bracket – Rs. 1.3 lakh to Rs. 1.5 lakhFaired Machines have always had a greater emotional connect with motorcyclists than naked ones. Fairing lends manufacturers more opportunity to showcase design prowess and depths of their design team’s imagination in attracting buyers. In India, there are multiple faired motorcycles at Rs. 1.3 lakh to Rs. 1.5 lakh (ex-sh) price point.Newest of this bunch is Hero Xtreme 200S 4V, which costs Rs. 1.41 lakh (ex-sh). Hero recently pulled the plug on older Xtreme 200S 2V model. Making newer 4V model, the only faired machine in its portfolio. But how does this faired motorcycle fare against other faired motorcycles in a similar price bracket? Let’s take a look.Hero Xtreme 200S 4VMost motorcycles in this list are semi-faired. Only Xtreme 200S 4V and Gixxer SF 150 sport full-fairing. You must be wondering what Honda CB200X is doing in this list. Because it is a faux ADV without any off-road prowess, it is basically a semi-faired motorcycle. Looks are subjective. If you ask me, CB200X is by far the most appealing. In terms of displacement, Bajaj Pulsar F250 has the biggest engine. Unsurprisingly, it is the most powerful potent too with 24.2 bhp and 21.5 Nm. Gixxer has the smallest engine and offers lowest numbers. In terms of engine configs, all of these boast a single overhead cam and only Xtreme 200S 4V has a 4V head.Hero Xtreme 200S 4V Vs Rivals – SpecsIt is surprising that Bajaj offers a 4V head with much older and smaller NS160, but newer N160 and bigger F250/N250 miss out on it. All motorcycles have a 5-speed gearbox. After discontinuation of Suzuki GS 150R, this price segment has never seen a 6-speed gearbox.Pulsar 220 is the oldest here and it shows with a double cradle chassis, twin rear shock absorbers and skinny tyres. Bajaj has a tubular chassis with F250 and all the other motorcycles in this comparo have a diamond frame. CB200X has fattest tyre combination among this bunch and has longest wheelbase too. Also, it is the only one with USD front telescopic forks.Bang for the Buck: Which is the most feature-loaded?Ground clearance is highest with CB200X, but by 2mm only. In this comparison, only the Pulsar F250 has dual-channel ABS. It has largest front disc too, while Gixxer SF 150 has largest rear disc. Flash value is highest with Honda CB200X as it has attractive golden USD front forks, all LED lighting and more.Hero Xtreme 200S 4V Vs Rivals – PricesCB200X’s LED turn indicators are not conventional. Instead, they are inside its knuckle guards, which is a nice touch. Pulsar F250 offers LED indicators too and is the only one to have LED projector headlight. Pulsar 220 has projector setup too, with halogen bulbs, though. Only the Xtreme 200S 4V and Gixxer SF 150 have Bluetooth connectivity with smartphone integration. This allows notification alert, turn-by-turn navigation and more. Weirdly, Hero doesn’t offer its optional Hero Connect telematics solution with Xtreme 200S 4V. Even the Pleasure+ scooter gets this add-on for Rs. 4,999. Also, none of these motorcycles get ride modes. If there was a TVS offering with full-fairing in this price bracket, it would definitely get ride modes.Sadly, that is not the case. Pricing-wise, Gixxer SF 150 starts from Rs. 1.35 lakh. But goes till Rs. 1.46 lakh if you want Bluetooth connectivity and fancy colours. Pulsar 220 costs Rs. 1.38 lakh and Xtreme 200S 4V commands Rs. 1.41 lakh and seems to be the jack of all trades considering pricing, features, and equipment. (All prices ex-sh).That said, Pulsar F250 is the best bet for performance-conscious buyers and is worth the additional Rs. 8,000 over Xtreme 200S 4V. If looks and design outweighs performance for you, Honda CB200X makes a lot of sense as it is the flashiest of this bunch. More
