Top 10 Things About Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 With Sherpa Engine

Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 DebutedThis is the first time Royal Enfield has incorporated a liquid-cooled engine setup and the new Himalayan 452 is the first RE to run itRoyal Enfield is on the verge of launching a brand new 452cc engine-based platform. There will be numerous variations of this platform. First of which, is Himalayan 452, which made its debut recently. Production has already commenced at their facility as well. In this post, we will cover top 10 things about the most anticipated motorcycle launch from Royal Enfield.Royal Enfield Sherpa 450 Engine1. First ever liquid-cooled Royal EnfieldStarting with its Sherpa 450 engine, this is the first time Royal Enfield has incorporated a liquid-cooled setup in one of its motorcycles. This 452cc single-cylinder engine has a DOHC setup and it generates a healthy 40 bhp of peak power and 40 Nm peak torque. Royal Enfield has ensured that the torque spread is much wider than Himalayan 411.Royal Enfield Sherpa 450 Engine Torque2. First ever single-cylinder Royal Enfield with 6-speed gearboxFor the first time, Royal Enfield is offering a 6-speed gearbox with its single-cylinder lineup. This setup ensures better-optimised gearing along with a 6th gear that will significantly boost Himalayan 452’s high-speed touring capabilities. More number of gears brings better optimisation potential for the final drive.Himalayan 452 USD front forks3. First ever single-cylinder Royal Enfield to get USD front forksAfter Super Meteor 650, Himalayan 452 is the second Royal Enfield and first single-cylinder Royal Enfield to get USD front forks. These Showa forks will ensure better handling characteristics and bring a certain level of structural rigidity to the whole package. Just like Himalayan 411, the newer model also gets an adjustable mono-shock rear suspension setup.New circular TFT screen4. First ever Royal Enfield to get company’s new TFT instrumentationOne of the primary highlights of Himalayan 452 has to be its new circular TFT instrument screen. This screen is significantly larger than RE’s tripper display. Not just larger, this new unit is significantly more advanced as well. Apart from showing usuals, it supports full Google Maps, music controls, telephony controls, compass and more. There will be connected tech too, with smartphone application. Switchgear gets additional buttons to control this system.Tail lights integrated into rear indicator housingHimalayan 452 LED headlights5. All-LED lightingHimalayan 452 is the first RE to get LED tail lights integrated into its rear turn indicator housings. The actual turn indicators are LED too and so are its headlights. The headlight unit looks similar to the one found on Super Meteor 650. We hope the company offers auxiliary light accessory options, considering it is an adventure tourer.Himalayan 452 on snow6. Off-road worthy hardwareThe name Himalayan signifies the bike’s off-road lineage ever since this nameplate debuted with Himalayan 411. With Himalayan 452, RE has offered 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wire-spoke wheels, knobby dual-purpose tubed tyres from CEAT, long travel suspension at front and back, switchable ABS, upswept exhaust and a large beak to protect front end on landings. Off-road pegs, upright posture, and ergonomics supporting standing and riding are notable too.Himalayan 452 accessories7. Cross-country touring hardwareSince Himalayan 452 is an adventurer tourer, it has quite some hardware to prove its touring credentials. The tall windscreen, upright handlebar, comfy seating posture, and tilted instrument screen ensure fatigue-free riding only limited by the biological capabilities of rider. Provision for luggage is in abundance, front and rear frame will accommodate saddle bags and jerry cans and there is a built-in luggage rack as well. Fuel tank should carry around 20L of petrol, for a better tank range.Himalayan 452 new robust chassis8. All-new chassisAs revealed by Royal Enfield, Himalayan 452 is an all-new motorcycle including its frame. The company said not even a single bolt was taken from the old bike. This gave Royal Enfield a clean slate on reflecting past experience and perfecting their version of single-cylinder adventure tourer formula. Most of the components including the switchgear are new as well.Royal Enfield Himalayan 4529. Key rivals from other brandsWhen Himalayan 411 was launched, it primarily rivalled Hero Xpulse 200 in off-road and BMW G 310 GS and KTM 390 Adventure in touring scenarios. The new model gets fiercer competition in the form of Triumph Scrambler 400X along with upcoming motorcycles like Hero’s Xpulse 440 and KTM 390 Adventure and 390 Enduro that will feature the newer 399cc engine.Himalayan 452 Black and Gold10. Colours and expected priceRoyal Enfield has shown Himalayan 452 in five different colours as of now. These include White with decals, Off-white, Nardo Grey with Blue stripes, Nardo Grey with Red stripes and Black with Gold highlights. The pricing is under wraps, but a ballpark of around Rs. 2.5 lakh to Rs. 2.7 lakh seems to be logical for a motorcycle of this calibre. More

Ather 450X HR Homologated – 2nd Model With HR Suffix After 450S HR

Image for reference onlyWhere battery size is concerned, Ather 450X HR packs a 3.66 kWh pack that promises a 158 km range certified by AIS 040In the newfound popularity of electric scooters in India, Ather Energy is among the leading players. Competition is intensifying with new entrants from startup brands and mainstream scooter manufacturers. Ather is fortifying its grounds with a new HR lineup that could mean High Range. 2nd model with HR tag is Ather 450X HR, recently homologated after 450S HR.What is HR in Ather 450X HR homologated? For starters, HR can mean a lot of things. Considering electric scooter nomenclature and the fact that these HR models claim a higher range in homologation documents, HR in Ather 450X HR and Ather 450S HR could mean ‘High Range’ or ‘Higher Range’. The new models will be identical to Ather’s outgoing design. In terms of dimensions, both Ather 450X HR and Ather 450S HR have the same dimensions – 1837 mm in length, 739 mm in width, 1114 mm in height, 1296 mm in wheelbase and has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 243 kg. All Ather’s scooters follow the same dimensions as the brand only has one scooter design, with a 2nd maxi scooter design in the works. Both Ather 450X HR and 450S HR boast almost similar specs where powertrains are concerned. But there are surprises in the mix. A 74 Ah battery pack is common between the two. When Voltage is brought into the mix, Ather 450X HR has less energy at 3.66 kWh as opposed to 3.76 kWh of Ather 450S HR.Ather 450X HR HomologatedThat said, both the batteries weigh 22 kg each. Where range is concerned, Ather 450X HR boasts up to 158 km and 450S HR claims 156 km as per AIS 040 (Rev 1). As of now, Ather 450X is on offer with 2.9 kWh and 3.7 kWh battery options promising 111 km and 150 km of claimed range. However, top speed for Ather 450X HR isn’t mentioned in the new homologation documents. Ather 450S HR claims an 80 km/h top speed and has a comparable range of 450X HR. So, a 90 km/h top speed is highly likely with 450X HR. For context, both 450S and 450X currently on sale, promise a top speed of 90 km/h.What to expect in terms of features?Power figures ranges between 1.9 kW (2.54 bhp) in Eco Mode and 6.4 kW (8.6 bhp) in Warp Mode. Sport Mode, Ride Mode and Smart Eco Mode packs 5.5 kW (7.37 bhp), 3.2 kW (4.29 bhp) and 2.3 kW (3.08 bhp) respectively. Recently homologated 450S HR lacks Warp Mode and has slightly less power in other modes.Where features are concerned, Ather 450X HR will come equipped with all the bells and whistles. The 7-inch Google-powered touchscreen dashboard with Google Maps, sleek UI and others will be on offer. Other attributes like dual disc brakes, LED lighting, 22L boot space, and others are highly likely too. There may be new and exciting colours exclusive to HR models too. We’re not sure whether Ather is offering its Pro package as standard fitment with 450X HR. As of now, Pro pack for 450X costs Rs. 23,000 and comes with Ather RideAssist, Ather Connect, and AtherStack OTA updates. Launch could happen very soon. More

Royal Enfield Scram 450 (Himalayan Based) Render In Multiple Colourways

Royal Enfield Scram 450 renderIn the slew of planned future products, Royal Enfield Scram 450 is one of the most attractiveThe cat is out of the bag and we all know that Royal Enfield Scram 450 is coming. We have been witnessing test mules of Scram 450 since May 2022. It was first spied testing alongside its ADV sibling Himalayan 450. These are likely to be sold alongside the current Himalayan and Scram 411. Rendering artist Pratyush Rout has penned down his version of Scram 450. Let’s take a look.Royal Enfield Scram 450 RenderThere is a new platform under development at Royal Enfield. This 450cc platform boasts a more tech-savvy engine with greater power and torque reserves. It is said to get a 6-speed gearbox, liquid cooling, LED lighting, and a lot more. It is evident that Royal Enfield Scram 450 will be pitted below Himalayan 450. We say this because there is a lot of equipment on Himalayan 450 which Scram 450 lacks. For instance, Scram 450 lacks front USD forks, split seats, rear luggage rack, spoked wheels, front windshield and some more. All of these are found on Himalayan 450. Our render encapsulates all of these elements based on test mules spotted till now. The name could be Scram 450 or the company may be inclined to go with other names like Guerrilla 450, trademarked already.Pratyush Rout has stuck to classic Royal Enfield design DNA that the brand used on Scram 411. Fuel tank on Scram 450 render is similar to that of Himalayan 450. Our render has a colour-coded tank extension too, with Royal Enfield lettering. Fuel tank gets Royal Enfield logo too. Our render has an attractive ribbed single-piece seat, a clean tail section along with LED turn indicators.Royal Enfield Scram 450 render colourwaysScram 450 gets a circular instrument console that is tilted toward rider. This ensures that the information on that screen will be in rider’s peripheral vision at all times. Other styling elements on Scram 450 render are coded headlight cowl, fork gaiters, LED turn indicators, and a cleaner overall profile.Specs & FeaturesHimalayan 450 is on the verge of launching, with production commenced recently. Scram 450 may launch at a later date. That said, there can be further revisions if Royal Enfield deems it worthy. Our renders replicate some of design attributes that Royal Enfield has previously implemented in terms of colours, branding and finishes. The new engine is a 450cc unit that gets liquid cooling and DOHC. There is a high possibility that this new engine may develop over 40 bhp and 40 Nm of torque. In contrast, 411cc engine that currently powers Himalayan and Scram 411 makes 24 bhp and 32 Nm.Royal Enfield Scram 450 render GreenModern features like a 6-speed gearbox and liquid cooling will be offered. Launch timeline is not yet confirmed officially. Given company’s history of extensive testing, Royal Enfield Scram 450 will be launched somewhere in mid-2023 or beyond. When launched, the main rivals for Scram 450 are Triumph Scrambler 400X and upcoming KTM 390 Enduro, that is spotted testing alongside 390 Adventure and Hero’s Xpulse 440. More

Ducati Reveals Most Powerful Single-Cylinder Engine – 83.4 bhp

New Ducati Single Cylinder EngineDucati’s new single-cylinder engine can be used for multiple new bikes, one of which will be a motard-style machineAlso known as the ‘thumpers’, single-cylinder engines are popular for their affordability and low maintenance. These are the most widely used engines for entry-level motorcycles and are available in both two-stroke and four-stroke formats. However, single-cylinder engines have their limitations. As if to push this architecture to its limits, Ducati has come up with the world’s most powerful and highest revving single-cylinder engine.Ducati Superquadro Mono – The complete storyIt’s been almost three decades since Ducati last produced a single-cylinder bike. It was in 1993 that Supermono 550 race bikes were in production. These too had quite a reputation, generating 75 hp at 10,000 rpm. The bikes used borrowed hardware such as the horizontal cylinder and desmodromics from an 888 Racing V-twin.[embedded content]Now, thirty years later, Ducati has come up with an even better version of the Supermono. There’s a human connection as well, with Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali actively involved in both projects. Thirty years earlier, Domenicali was the project leader of the Supermono project. Now working as the CEO, he has played a key role in ensuring the success of the world’s most powerful single-cylinder engine.Ducati Superquadro Mono – tech specsDucati’s new 659cc, single-cylinder engine is being claimed as the world’s most powerful and highest revving road-going unit ever produced. It borrows the 116 mm piston from the 1285c V-twin ‘Superquadro’, which has been used on the 1299 Panigale. The stroke is 62.4 mm, which is only 1.6 mm longer in comparison to that of the superbike. Due to this, the engine has huge oversquare dimensions and high revs. It also explains why the engine has been named the Superquadro. It essentially means the super square.New Ducati Single Cylinder EngineAt max RPM, the piston of Superquadro can move 21 meters per second. The engine borrows various other components from the 1299 Panigale. It includes the combustion chamber, valves and desmo timing control. However, around 80% of the Superquadro engine is entirely new. In standard configuration, the engine generates 76.4 bhp. This can be increased to 83.4 bhp in track-ready configuration. With a desmodromic top end, the top rev range is an impressive 10,250 rpm.New Ducati Single Cylinder EngineChallenges for the Superquadro projectWhile it was easy to imagine the Superquadro, developing the engine was not an easy task. To make it practical, it was necessary to keep the engine as compact and lightweight as possible. And without compromising on the targeted performance figures. Every gram of metal had to be wisely used to ensure a lightweight profile and achieve higher power-to-weight ratio. To make it possible, a number of tweaks and innovations have been implemented. For example, the cam profile has been completely redesigned. A smaller throttle body diameter has been used for the intake duct and the length has also been changed. Design and length of the exhaust pipe were also tweaked accordingly. All these changes helped achieve a robust torque curve. More
