    Despite being well-equipped and capable, Dominar 400 hasn’t been attracting a larger number of buyers in recent times which is why Bajaj has planned to give the bike an update. It recently came to light that Bajaj is planning to launch an updated iteration of Dominar 400 in the near future.
    The facelifted version of the tourer is expected to primarily incorporate cosmetic updates as well as maybe a few feature additions. That said, underneath its skin, the motorcycle will remain identical to the current model on sale. The motorcycle has started to arrive at dealer showroom. Launch is expected in coming days. Spy images are credit to automotive enthusiast Harish. Apart from Dominar, Bajaj will also launch new Pulsar 250 later this month.
    New Bajaj Dominar 400 – Company fitted accessories
    Earlier this year, an undisguised prototype of Dominar 400 wearing an Aurora Green colour trim was spied sporting a new flyscreen and knuckle guards. It is this same model which has now been spied at a dealership, but in a different colour. Current Dominar 400 is available in Green and Black.
    In terms of styling, the current Dominar 400 flaunts a muscular fuel tank with extensions, a double-barrel exhaust, split-style seats and a raised handlebar. The motorcycle rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels. It contains company fitted mobile holder with charger placed above console.

    On the feature front, Dominar 400 is laced with a data-intensive fully-digital instrument cluster, all-LED illumination and a 13-litre fuel tank capacity. In its upcoming iteration, the motorcycle could benefit from a dedicated connectivity technology.
    While Dominar 400 is a proven tourer on highways due to its ease of riding and ergonomics, its heavier front end with a kerb weight of 187 kilos makes it a cumbersome motorcycle to ride in city commutes, especially in tight traffic conditions.
    Hardware, Engine Specs
    Most probably, the new 2022 Dominar 400 will sit on the same perimeter tube frame. This frame will be suspended on 43mm inverted forks at front and a multi-step adjustable mono-shock unit at rear. Braking hardware comprises a 320mm disc up front and a 230mm disc at rear which are assisted by a dual-channel ABS as standard.
    The upcoming Dominar 400 will continue to draw its power from the same 373.27cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which generates 40hp of power at 8,800rpm and 35Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm 373.27cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which pushes out 40 bhp at 8,800rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500rpm.     With just a few days to go for its launch, Bajaj is extensively testing the new 250cc Pulsar before it starts dispatching units of the motorcycle to dealerships across the country. The upcoming quarter-litre motorcycle will be available in two iterations- naked and semi-faired as NS250 and 250F respectively.
    Spy shots of both Bajaj Pulsar 250cc motorcycles have frequently been shared on the internet, giving us a sneak peek into their styling. It had already been confirmed by Bajaj that the new quarter-litre Pulsars will be launching around Diwali this year – which also marks 20th anniversary of Pulsar brand. Now there is a date. Bajaj Pulsar 250 will launch in in India on 28th October.
    Bajaj Pulsar 250cc Launch – Same motorcycles, different designs
    In terms of overall design, NS250 is set to borrow major styling cues from its other naked streetfighter siblings- NS160 and NS200. The same is the case with 250F which shares many styling elements with the current flagship Pulsar 220F.
    From the looks of it, both motorcycles flaunt an aggressive front fascia featuring a single-pod LED headlamp cluster and integrated LED DRLs. The semi-faired iteration of the motorcycle gets an even more aggressive front end with a large headlamp cowl and a flyscreen that integrates into the side fairing.

    Fuel tank designs on both derivatives look muscular with aggressive lines lending them aerodynamic characteristics. Both motorcycles feature a similar raised tail section, a split seating setup and a side-mounted upswept exhaust setup. Other common highlights include a clip-on handlebar, an engine underbelly cowl, boomerang-shaped LED taillights, a muscular front fender and split pillion grab rails.
    Expected Mechanical Specs, Features
    The new Pulsar 250 will be underpinned by an all-new frame which will be suspended on telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock linked to the swingarm at rear.
    Braking hardware will comprise disc brakes at both ends complemented by dual-channel ABS as standard. Other features expected to be included in the equipment are a fully digital console with Bluetooth connectivity and multiple riding modes.

    Powering Pulsar 250 will be a new 249cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine which is likely to pump out 24 bhp and 20 Nm of peak torque.     New Bajaj Pulsar 250cc Motorcycles Spied Together – Launch Next Month

    Pulsar range has remained a bestseller for Bajaj Auto since several years. It currently has bikes from 125cc to 220cc. Pulsar range motorcycles are popular for their dynamic performance and affordability. As market trends indicate a growing interest in 250cc segment, Bajaj will soon extend Pulsar range to cater to this space.
    Bajaj already has Dominar 250 and same capacity bikes from KTM and Husqvarna. However, considering the wide popularity of Pulsar nameplate, it has a better chance at raking in desired sales numbers. For maximum reach, Bajaj is getting ready to launch two versions of Pulsar 250. Their MD has already announced that launch will take place next month, in Nov 2021 – which is when the Pulsar brand also celebrates its 20th anniversary.
    It includes naked and semi-faired models of Pulsar 250. Going by the company’s current naming convention, these could be called NS250, and 250F respectively. However, we will have to wait for an official confirmation on this. Latest spy images are credit to automotive enthusiast Narinder Tandon, who spotted these Pulsar 250cc motorcycles on Dehu Road, just outside of Pune.
    Pulsar NS250 and 250F
    NS250 has a sporty profile with an aggressive front fascia. The bike gets single LED projector headlamp flanked by eye-shaped sleek LED DRLs. Overall styling seems comparable to 250cc offerings from the likes of Yamaha and Suzuki. At the side, fuel tank is seamlessly integrated with tank shrouds. Air scoops on the fairing are also evident, which could be a way to improve the bike’s aerodynamics.
    New Bajaj Pulsar 250F
    Apart from the tank shrouds, no other form of panelling can be seen on Pulsar NS250. Other key features include engine protector, split seat design, elevated tail section, alloy wheels, rear tyre hugger, and stubby exhaust. The bike has a fairly comfortable riding stance, which makes it suitable for everyday commutes.
    Coming to Pulsar 250F, the only major difference can be seen in the fairing. The front fairing is an integrated unit comprising the headlamp cowl, windscreen and tank shrouds.
    This translates into a beefier look and feel for the bike. The windscreen should be able to provide better wind protection. Some panels can be seen on sides that cover part of the engine assembly. Most other features including riding stance are largely the same as NS250.
    New Bajaj Pulsar 250NS
    Pulsar RS250
    Though not yet spied testing, Bajaj is also expected to launch a fully faired version of the 250cc Pulsar. Bajaj has done a wonderful job with RS200, the only fully-faired Pulsar currently on offer. Expect things to get even better with RS250. Overall styling and fairing are expected to be entirely new. Pulsar RS250 will compete with the likes of Yamaha Fazer 25 and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250.
    All three Pulsar 250cc bikes will share the same engine and most other hardware. They are expected to get an entirely new 250cc motor. It will be different from the existing unit used with KTM 250 Duke, Dominar 250 and Husqvarna twins.
    The new engine could be generating max power of 24 bhp and peak torque of 20 Nm. It could get new features such as slipper clutch and variable valve actuation (VVT). The existing 248.77cc, liquid cooled motor churns out 27 bhp and 23.5 Nm. More

    Bajaj Sales Sep 2021 – Pulsar, Avenger, CT100, Platina, Dominar, Chetak

    Bajaj Auto Limited has released their sales report for September 2021. Taking two wheeler and commercial vehicle sales (domestic and exports) into account, there was a 9 percent de-growth to 4,02,021 units in the past month, down from 4,41,306 units sold in September 2020.
    Two Wheeler sales in domestic markets dipped 21 percent to 1,73,945 units a de-growth over 2,1,500 units sold in September 2020. Exports on the other hand increased 1 percent YoY to 1,87,091 units in September 2021 from 1,85,351 units shipped in August 2020. The Bajaj Pulsar range and Chetak e-scooter have actively contributed to these sales figures.
    This took total sales in this segment down 11 percent to 3,61,036 units, from 4,04,851 units sold in August 2020. In the two wheeler range for domestic markets, Bajaj has on offer their Pulsar, Dominar, Platina, CT, Avenger, Chetak, etc. For exports, it was their Boxer range which managed to top the charts.
    Commercial Vehicle Sales
    Commercial vehicles faired better, in terms of domestic sales with a 99 percent YoY increase to 18,403 units, up from 9,231 units sold in August 2020. There was however, a 17 percent de-growth reported in terms of exports which dipped to 22,582 units, down from 27,224 units shipped in September 2020.

    Higher domestic sales saw this segment report a 12 percent YoY increase to 40,985 units in the past month, up from 36,455 units sold in September 2020. This took total sales (2 wheeler and CV) to 1,92,348 units in domestic markets and to 2,09,673 in global markets to a total of 4,02,021 units over 4,41,306 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
    YTD Sales
    Taking into account the period April to September 2021, sales were more positive both in terms of domestic sales and exports and in the case of two wheelers and commercial vehicles. Two wheeler domestic sales increased 13 percent to 8,30,700 units, up from 7,36,175 units sold in the 6 month period of 2020.
    Exports saw a surge of 75 percent to 10,98,520 units in the April-Sept 2021 period, up from 6,28,219 units shipped in the corresponding period of 2020. Total sales in this segment increased 41 percent to 19,29,220 units, up from 13,64,394 units in the 6 month period of 2020.
    Bajaj Sales FY21 vs FY20
    Commercial vehicle sales and exports increased 68 percent to 2,21,201 units, up from 1,32,046 units in the April-Sept 2020 period. In this segment, it was the domestic sales that showed off more positive results with a 105 percent YTD increase. Sales which had stood at 28,674 units in the April-Sept 2020 period, increased to 58,653 units in the corresponding period of 2021.
    Exports on the other hand saw a 57 percent YTD increase to 1,62,548 units, up from 1,03,372 units sold in April-Sept 2020. Total sales in this segment increased 68 percent to 2,21,201 units, up from 1,32,046 units.     Bajaj Auto Limited sold a total of 3,32,486 units in August 2021 which included 1,53,437 units in domestic markets while 1,76,049 units were exported. Domestic sales of Bajaj Auto posted a de-growth of 9.81 percent to 1,53,437 units in the past month, down from 1,70,132 units sold in August 2020.
    Bajaj Pulsar Range In Aug 2021
    The Pulsar range, which is generally the most sought after, has seen a dip in demand to the extent of 24.19 percent to 66,107 units, down from 87,202 units sold in August 2020. It was however, the Pulsar 125 that contributed most to these sales at 32,659 units with the Pulsar 150 making up the remain numbers of 24,621 units along with the Pulsar 200 with 4,666 units sold in the past month besides 4,161 units of the Pulsar 250.
    Bajaj Platina sales increased 40.50 percent to 56,615 units in August 2021, up from 40,294 units sold in August 2020 commanding a 39.90 percent share in the company lineup. Bajaj CT, Avenger and Dominar each recorded sales de-growth in August 2021. CT sales dipped 23.76 percent to 26,578 units, up from 34,863 units sold in August 2020.
    Avenger sales fell 49.88 percent to 2,751 units from 5,489 units sold in August 2020 with the Avenger 200cc (2,110 units) more in demand as compared to the Avenger 250cc (641 units). Dominar sales also dipped 51.15 percent to 1,022 units YoY but it was the Bajaj Chetak that saw its domestic sales surge 89.58 percent to 364 units in the past month, up from 192 units sold in August 2020.

    Bajaj Chetak e-scooter is now available in more cities and the company has opened bookings for the Chetak via the brands official website in Pune, Bengaluru, Nagpur, Mysore, Mangalore and Aurangabad.
    Bajaj Exports Increase Aug 2021
    Even as the company did not fair too well in domestic markets, its performance in terms of exports are noteworthy. Exports increased 27.44 percent YoY to 1,76,049 units, up from 1,38,141 units shipped in August 2020. Every model in the company lineup saw an increase in demand except for the Avenger.
    It was the Bajaj Boxer that topped the export list with 1,05,594 units sold in August 2021, up 29.45 percent over 81,574 units shipped in August 2020. Currently the Boxer holds a 59.98 percent share. Bajaj Boxer 110cc was more in demand over the 125cc and 150cc counterparts.

    Bajaj Pulsar exports also increased 19.61 percent YoY to 34,243 units, up from 28,628 units sold in August 2020 with the Pulsar 200cc more in demand (15,754 units) over the entry level Pulsar 125cc (4,352 units) and Pulsar 150cc (11,641 units) or the Pulsar 250 ( 2,496 units).
    Even as Bajaj CT exports increased 125.38 percent to 17,958 units over 7,968 units shipped in August 2020 that of Bajaj Discover dipped 26.71 percent to 11,480 units down from 15,664 units exported in August 2020. It was the Discover 125cc that saw more exports at 10,040 units over 1,440 units of the Discover 110cc in the past month.
    Bajaj Platina and Dominar both received increased attention in global markets up 54.84 percent and 108.02 percent respectively while exports of Avenger dipped 50 percent to 343 units, down from 684 units shipped in August 2020. More

    Bajaj Auto has been retailing the Pulsar brand of sporty commuter motorcycles for two decades now. From an entity for the local market, the Pulsar brand has helped Bajaj reach international status with increasing exports over the years. Currently, Bajaj retails eight derivatives of Pulsar models in India with six different engine displacements.
    Bajaj Pulsar Aug 2021 Domestic Sales- Pulsar 125 Leads Charts
    The Chakan-based manufacturer was able to dispatch 65,747 units of Pulsar motorcycles to dealerships across India last month. This was 21,455 units less than August last year and 653 units less than July this year. It has resulted in a YoY decline of 24.60 percent and MoM growth of 1 percent.
    The entry-level Pulsar 125 witnessed sales volume of 32,659 units in August 2021. In comparison, 34,667 units of Pulsar 125 were sold in July this year which translated to MoM decline of 5.79 percent. On the other hand, 43,493 units of the motorcycle were sold in August last year which resulted in YoY decline of 24.91 percent. Next in line was Pulsar 150 which raked in a volume of 24,261 units last month.
    In July 2021, the monthly sales figure stood at 21,355 which led to MoM growth of 12.66 percent. During August last year, Bajaj sold 29,777 units of Pulsar 150 which resulted in a YoY decline of 18.52 percent. The bikemaker dispatched a cumulative 4,666 units of Pulsar 160, Pulsar 180 and Pulsar 200 in August this year. These figures stood at 5,408 units in July this year and 8,374 units in August last year which has transpired to MoM decline of 13.72 percent and YoY decline of 44.28 percent.
    Bajaj Pulsar Sales and Exports Aug 2021 vs Aug 2020 (YoY)
    Last month, Bajaj sold 4,161 units of the flagship Pulsar 220F as opposed to 3,484 units dispatched the previous month. This resulted in MoM growth of 19.43 percent. During August last year, Bajaj dispatched 5,558 units of the semi-faired motorcycle which has led to YoY growth of 25.13 percent.
    Pulsar 160, 180, 200 Lead Exports Chart
    The company exported a total of 34,243 units of Pulsar bikes in August this year as opposed to 28,628 units during the same period last year. This translated to YoY growth of 19.61 percent. In July 2021, Bajaj shipped 35,371 units to overseas markets which resulted in a 3.19 percent MoM decline. The chart was led by the 160cc, 180cc and 200cc segments of Pulsar which witnessed 15,754 units exported last month.
    Bajaj dispatched 14,965 units of Pulsar bikes from this segment which has led to YoY growth of 5.27 percent. In August last year, 11,246 units were exported from this space which translated to a YoY growth of 40.09 percent. 11,641 units of Pulsar 150 were shipped overseas last month as opposed to 12,514 units during the same month last year. This led to YoY degrowth of 6.98 percent.
    Bajaj Pulsar Sales and Exports Aug 2021 vs Jul 2021 (MoM)
    The bikemaker exported 4,352 units of Pulsar 125 and 2,496 units of Pulsar 220F in August this year. Both motorcycles registered YoY growths of 17.12 percent and 116.67 percent. While Pulsar 125 recorded MoM growth of 3.03 percent, Pulsar 220F witnessed an MoM decline of 9.37 percent. More

    TVS iQube Beats Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter In Aug 2021 Sales

    New Bajaj Chetak Electric ScooterDue to global shortage of semiconductors, electric two-wheelers are unable to reach full potential
    Intense rivalry between Bajaj Chetak and TVS iQube continues, with the latter registering MoM growth of 20.19% in August. Sales are at 649 units. In comparison, Chetak sales are down to 364 units in August from 730 units in July 2021. That’s MoM loss of more than 50%. In YoY terms, Chetak has gained 89.58% in comparison to 192 units sold in August last year. iQube YoY growth is much higher at 2721.74%, as compared to 23 units sold in August last year.
    iQube maintains lead in 2021
    Taken together, Chetak and iQube have sales of 1,013 units in August. YoY growth is 371.16%, as compared to 215 units sold in August last year. MoM numbers are down by -20.24%, as compared to 1,270 units sold in July 2021.
    Cumulatively, iQube is ahead of Chetak this year. During Jan-August period, iQube total sales are at 2,904 units in comparison to 2,355 units of Chetak. iQube was ahead in five months this year whereas Chetak has registered higher sales in April, May and July. iQube August sales are its highest ever this year. In comparison, Chetak highest sale this year was in July.
    Shortage of semiconductors
    Several auto companies including Bajaj are experiencing production constraints due to global shortage of semiconductors. Due to this, Chetak is only being sold in batches. Bookings are closed when a batch is sold out. The company had to close bookings multiple times since Chetak was launched last year in January.

    Bookings are currently open for Chetak, but it will be closed again when the batch is sold out. Bajaj is not taking bulk bookings, as it does not want customers to be kept waiting for months.
    Threat from new rivals
    While there are several electric two-wheeler brands, Chetak and iQube are the only ones currently being manufactured by mainstream players. Normally, one would expect established players to achieve better results than start-ups. However, as things are unfolding now, it appears that start-ups and tech companies are taking the lead in electric two-wheeler segment.
    As this is a technology-driven space, anyone with better technology has the potential to emerge a winner. In recent times, better equipped scooters such as Simple One and Ola Electric have been launched. Ola recently opened bookings for its S1 and S1 Pro scooters, which have clocked sales worth more than Rs 600 crore in a single day. This is likely to be a new record in electric two-wheeler segment.

    These developments indicate that Chetak and iQube will have to prepare themselves for a tough fight ahead. They need to introduce consistent updates to improve overall customer experience. Things like range need to be increased whereas charging time should be reduced. Manufacturers also need to invest in developing battery charging infrastructure, so that customers can take their electric vehicles out on the streets without any doubts or concerns. More
