      October auto sales numbers have been released and the past month has been a weak one for the auto sector. Rising fuel costs are a major factor leading to these lower than expected sales.
      Bajaj Auto has released their sales report for October 2021. De-growth was reported in for the two wheeler segment (domestic and exports) while commercial vehicle sales increased YoY. Best sellers includes the Pulsar, CT100, Platina, Dominar, Avenger and even the Chetak electric scooter has been in good demand.

      Across the two wheeler segment, sales dipped 17 percent YoY to 3,91,303 units, down from 4,70,290 units sold in October 2020. Domestic sales dipped 26 percent to 1,98,738 units in the past month, down from 2,68,631 units sold in October 2020. Exports on the other hand fell marginally by 5 percent to 1,92,565 units, from 2,01,659 units sold in October 2020.
      Commercial vehicle sales increased by 16 percent thanks to outstanding sales in domestic markets. CV sales stood at 48,312 units in the past month, up from 41,748 units sold in October 2020. Domestic sales increased 58 percent to 19,827 units from 12,529 units sold in October 2020.

      Exports however dipped 3 percent to 24,485 units in the past month, from 29,219 units shipped in October 2020. This took total domestic sales and exports (2 wheelers and CV) down 14 percent to 4,39,615 units in October 2021 from 5,12,038 units of October 2020.
      YTD Sales Performance
      Bajaj Auto Limited has seen outstanding year-to-date sales results, more so in terms of exports. Taking into account the period April to October 2021, two wheeler domestic sales increased 2 percent to 10,29,438 units, up from 10,04,806 units. Exports on the other hand surged 56 percent to 12,91,085 units, up from 8,29,878 units sold in the same period of 2020. This related to a 26 percent growth across total two wheeler sales to 23,20,523 units, from 18,34,684 units sold in the same 7 month period of 2020.
      YTD commercial vehicle sales increased 55 percent to 2,69,513 units in the April to October 2021 period from 1,73,794 units sold in the same period of 2020. In this case also, positive sales were reported across domestic sales and exports by 90 percent and 44 percent respectively.

      Total domestic sales increased 6 percent to 11,07,918 units in April to October 2021, up from 10,46,009 units sold in the same 2020 period. Exports on the other hand, increased 54 percent to 14,82,118 units, up from 9,6,469 units shipped in the 7 month period of 2020. Total two wheeler and CV sales saw a 29 percent YTD increase to 25,90,036 units, up from 20,08,478 units sold in the same period of 2020.
      The all-new Bajaj Pulsar N250 and Pulsar F250 are now on sale in India. These quarter-liter Pulsar motorcycles start off at Rs 1.38 lakh. Pulsar N250 is a naked street fighter while Pulsar F250 is a semi-faired motorcycle. These two models are expected to draw in more customers during the months ahead. More

      Bajaj Auto Limited ranked at No. 4 among the leading two wheeler makers in terms of sales in September 2021. Next in order, following Hero, Honda and TVS, Bajaj Auto posted de-growth in terms of domestic sales while exports increased marginally.
      On the whole it was a bad month for the two wheeler segment. Every leading automaker has posted a dip in sales except for TVS Motor Company. Semiconductor chip shortage has impacted sales in the 150+ cc motorcycle segment but as inventories increase at company dealership a more lucrative festive season is on the cards.

      Bajaj Auto sold a total of 1,69,343 units in domestic markets last month. This was a 19.98 percent de-growth over 2,11,359 units sold in September 2020. Every bike in the company lineup posted lower YoY sales except for the Platina and Chetak. Bajaj Platina sales topped the domestic list with 82,559 units sold, up 48.77 percent over 55,496 units sold in September 2020.
      Bajaj Pulsar sales suffered last month, and was no longer the No 1 selling brand for the company. Pulsar registered sales of 57,974 units in the past month, down 43.55 percent over 1,02,698 units sold in September 2020. In the Pulsar range, it was the 125 that received most attention with 39,081 units sold while the Pulsar 150 saw sales to the extent of 11,082 units. Pulsar 200 sales stood at 3,703 units last month and of the Pulsar 220F the company sold 4,108 units. Bajaj also heralds in the new Pulsar 250. It will rival the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and Yamaha FZ25.

      Domestic sales of the Bajaj CT100 and Avenger dipped 42.68 percent and 81.45 percent respectively. Sales were down to 25,852 units and 1,090 units respectively as against 45,105 units and 5,877 units sold in the same month of the previous year.
      Bajaj Dominar sales also fell 35.30 percent to 1,226 units last month, down from 1,895 units sold in September 2020. On the other hand, Bajaj Chetak sales surged 122.92 percent to 642 units, up from 288 units sold in September 2020. The Bajaj Chetak recently underwent a price hike, its 3rd in 2021, making it the most expensive electric scooter on sale in India today.

      Bajaj Auto Limited reported exports at 1,82,697 units, up 1.72 percent over 1,79,609 units sold in September 2020. Buyers in global markets showed more preference towards the Boxer, of which 1,03,516 units were sold commanding a share of 56.66 percent. This was a 2.14 percent growth over 1,01,344 units shipped in September 2020. Bajaj Boxer 110cc demand dipped 0.76 percent to 82,420 units last month while the Boxer 125cc bike saw exports grow 73.13 percent to 5,824 percent. Boxer 150cc sales also increased in global markets by 2.28 percent to 15,272 units.

      Pulsar exports dipped 14.21 percent to 35,879 units, down from 41,821 units sold in September 2020 with a share of 19.64 percent. Pulsar 150-200cc (16,254 units) and Pulsar 125-150cc (14,064 units) were more in demand as compared to the Pulsar 110-125cc, of which the company shipped 5,002 units last month.
      The Bajaj Discover also saw an increase in YoY export, up 17.14 percent 18,199 units, over 15,536 units shipped in September 2020. Bajaj CT exports also increased significantly by 23.33 percent to 17,192 units over 13,940 units shipped in September 2020. Exports of the Platina, Dominar and Avenger too increased YoY.
      Avenger exports up 81.13 percent to 672 units over 371 units exported in September 2021. The Avenger 250cc saw more demand over the Avenger 200cc with 576 units of the former being exported over 96 units of its smaller capacity counterpart. More

      Bajaj has finally launched its flagship model in the Pulsar range of motorcycles- Pulsar 250 in two iterations. The naked one is called N250 while the semi-faired version is named F250. Most of the specifications of Pulsar 250 are on the expected lines as it has been covered vigorously over the last few months.
      Pulsar 250 directly competes against its Japanese rivals- Yamaha FZ25 and Suzuki Gixxer 250. Like Pulsar 250, Gixxer 250 is offered in two iterations- naked and semi-faired (SF 250) whereas FZ25 is only offered as a naked streetfighter. The naked and semi-faired iterations of both Pulsar and Gixxer are similar, barring their styling.

      While design is purely a subjective thing, each of the motorcycles mentioned above looks sharp. However, if one wants to opt for a faired look, then FZ25 cannot be the choice. While exact dimensions of Pulsar 250 haven’t been revealed yet, it offers a wheelbase of 1351 mm which is bang in between FZ25 (1340 mm) and Gixxer (1360 mm). Pulsar 250 is also the heaviest among its rivals at 162 kg for N250 and 164 kg for F250.
      On the other hand, FZ25 is the lightest in the category. Both Pulsar and Gixxer offer a ground clearance of 165 mm while FZ25 offers 160 mm of ground clearance. Seat height of all three bikes is around the same region from 795 mm to 800 mm. The main difference among these three models is that Pulsar 250 is based on a tubular frame while the other two are based on a diamond frame.

      Powertrain Specs & Features
      Coming to powertrain, all three are powered by a 249cc single-cylinder SOHC engine. However, Gixxer 250 churns out the highest output of 26 bhp and 22.2 Nm. The reason behind this is while others offer a 2-valve setup, Suzuki offers a 4-valve setup in Gixxer 250.
      FZ25 is by far the least powerful in the segment. While Gixxer 250 is paired with a 6-speed gearbox, Pulsar 250 and FZ25 are offered with a 5-speed transmission.
      All three motorcycles offer more or less the same amount of features with a few variations. Common features on all three motorcycles include LED headlight, LED taillight and automatic headlight. While Pulsar 250 is the only one to offer a USB charger as standard, it misses out on a fully digital instrument cluster and a dual-channel ABS, like its compatriots.

      A lot has changed since the time Pulsar twins (150 and 180) were launched in November 2001. Pulsar bikes have played a key role in helping the company establish itself as a popular motorcycle brand. Pulsar range has been expanded over the years to include several new products. It currently starts with the entry level Pulsar 125 and extends to the most powerful Pulsar 220F. Range topping naked and fully faired models are NS200 and RS200.
      Twenty years later, Bajaj has launched the biggest Pulsar ever made. It is the N250 and F250. Both these motorcycles are completely new, built from the ground up on a new chassis, powered by a new engine and comes with new tech and features.       New Pulsar 250 bikes will have a muscular profile and dominating street presence. The overall look and feel is more refined in comparison to other Pulsar motorcycles. Some of the key features include aggressive headlamp, spear turn signals, large windscreen, and wide clip-on handlebar.
      One of the key differences between naked and semi-faired versions of Pulsar 250 is in their fairing. Pulsar 250F has a more prominent front fascia with the fairing extended all the way to the tank shrouds. The bike’s styling is further enhanced with sporty rear-view mirrors installed on the front apron. The naked model has the same units, but they are mounted on the handlebar.

      There are some differences in ergonomics as well. For example, the naked variant has low-set handlebar, as compared to the slightly raised unit on 250F. Placement of the foot pegs appears to be the same on both bikes. While a comfortable, upright stance will be available, Pulsar 250 can accommodate a more committed riding posture as well.

      Apart from these changes, both models will be largely the same. Some features that are likely to be common across both bikes include the fenders, crash guard, engine cowl, split seats, side mounted twin-barrel exhaust, split grab rails, tail section, rear tyre hugger and rear LED taillight.

      Pulsar 250 gets a new 250cc motor. It is different, as compared to the one currently in use with KTM 250cc bikes, Dominar 250 and Husqvarna 250. The new engine is capable of generating 24 bhp of max power and 21.5 Nm of peak torque. It will be coupled with a 5-speed gearbox.

      Bajaj Auto finished 4th on the list of best-selling two wheeler makers in India in September 2021. It was preceded by Hero MotoCorp, Honda and TVS. Bajaj Auto reported total sales of 1,73,945 units in September 2021, relating to a YoY de-growth of 20.75 percent, as against 2,19,500 units sold in September 2020. MoM growth was more positive as compared to 1,57,971 units sold in August 2021.
      Though Bajaj Pulsar contributed significant number to total domestic sales last month, every variant suffered significant de-growth. It was a YoY sales de-growth of 43.55 percent in domestic markets to 57,974 units as against 1,02,698 units sold in September 2020.
      On a MoM basis, sales dipped 11.82 percent with 65,747 units sold in August 2021. Exports on the other hand suffered a YoY de-growth of 19.16 percent to 35,710 units from 44,175 units sold in September 2020. However, it noted a 4.28 percent MoM growth over 34,243 units shipped in August 2021.

      Bajaj Pulsar 125 was a favorite in domestic markets. The company sold 39,081 units in September 2021, down from 51,540 units sold in September 2020. Sales numbers improved in a MoM basis by 19.66 percent over 32,659 units sold in August 2021.

      Next in line was the Pulsar 150 of which the company sold 11,082 units in domestic markets last month. This was a YoY de-growth of 71.12 percent over 38,366 units sold in the same month last year. MoM sales also dipped significantly by 54.32 percent over 24,261 units sold in August 2021.
      YoY sales of the 220F along with that of 160, 180 and 200 also dipped 19.72 percent and 51.75 percent respectively. MoM sales were down 1.27 percent for the 220F and down 20.24 percent for the Pulsar 160,180 and 200.
      Bajaj Auto is set to launch the new Pulsar 250 and Pulsar 250F in India on 28th October. The models have been spied on test and besides being the biggest Pulsar yet, it is also slated to be the most expensive of the Pulsar series with an expected price close to Rs 1.60 lakh.

      In global markets, it was the Pulsar 160, 180 and 200 that scaled the list. Sales however dipped YoY to 16,254 units, a de-growth of 6.37 percent over 17,359 units sold in September 2020. MoM sales noted a 3.17 percent growth over 15,754 units shipped in August 2021.
      Bajaj Pulsar 150 exports dipped 22.38 percent YoY to 14,064 units in September 2021, down from 18,120 units shipped in September 2020. MoM exports grew 20.81 percent over 11,641 units sold in August 2021. Exports of Pulsar 125 also fell on a YoY basis by 13.54 percent to 5,008 units, down from 5,792 units shipped in September 2020. MoM sales grew by 15.07 percent over 4,352 units sold in August 2021.
      Bajaj Pulsar 220F did not find many takers in global markets either in August or September 2021. Sales dipped to 384 units in September 2021, down 86.78 percent over 2,904 units sold in September 2020. MoM sales also fell significantly by 84.62 percent over 2,496 units shipped in August 2021.       Bajaj Auto has launched the 2021 Dominar 400 which comes with new factory-fitted accessories. The latest iteration of the sports tourer comes at a price of Rs 2.17 lakh (ex-showroom). The new accessory package is offered as a standard fitment and comprises strong touring essentials which make the bike more touring friendly.
      The company has optimised the accessory package for long-distance touring and consists of a long list of add-ons including handguards, a tall visor, leg guard, engine bash plate, USB Charging Port, navigation stay, saddle stay and carrier and back stopper. The new model comes at a premium of Rs 5,000 over the outgoing model. The older variant is discontinued. The Dominar 400 is now only on offer with this factory-fitted accessories version.

      Considering the number of standard accessories included in the package, the marginal hike in price seems very justified. The additional accessories have also lent Dominar 400 a refreshed styling which now looks ready to go touring.
      In its new avatar, Dominar 400 gets a more distinctive front end with an angular and taller visor. The bike also features aerodynamically sculpted fighter jet-inspired handguards with flexi-winglets for maximum wind protection.

      The addition of a luggage carrier not only offers an aesthetic appeal but is also a functional upgrade which makes it more touring friendly. Attached to the luggage carrier is a back stopper that ensures comfort to the pillion during long distances. The stylish engine bash plate with an integrated metal skid plate and a discreet leg guard offer good impact protection.
      The Chakan-based manufacturer has also installed a navigation stay where the rider can install his/her navigation device. Further, Dominar 400 is also offered with a USB charging port to keep one’s phone connected. Apart from all accessories mentioned above, Bajaj is also offering a saddle stay which will be a paid accessory. This add-on will be available at the dealership level and can be bought at an undisclosed price.
      Engine & Hardware Specs
      Other than the added accessory package, nothing has been changed on Dominar 400. Powering the sports tourer is the same 373.3cc DOHC single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor which pumps out 39.5 bhp and 35 Nm of peak torque. This unit is paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch.

      Hardware configurations of Dominar 400 also remain identical with suspension duties handled by 43mm USD forks at front and a mono-shock at the rear.       Bajaj Dominar 250 Sales Down To 4 Units Ahead Of New Pulsar Launch

      Launched last year in March, Dominar 250 is one of the most affordable 250cc bikes in the country. It is currently available at a starting price of Rs 1.59 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The bike will soon face competition from one of its own – Pulsar 250. The latter is scheduled for launch on October 28. Ahead of that, Dominar 250 sales have nosedived in September.

      Bajaj offers a wide range of motorcycles in the 250cc range. Apart from Dominar 250, they have the Husqvarna twins Svartpilen and Vitpilen, then the KTM Duke 250 and ADV 250. This week will see the launch of Pulsar NS250 and Pulsar 250F.
      With production constrained due to global shortage of parts, it is likely that Dominar 250 production numbers are low so that they could more units of the Pulsar 250 Twins. Bajaj has not said anything about discontinuing Dominar 250. In fact, they have been more bullish on the 250cc segment than anyone else in the industry.
      From 440 units in August, Dominar 250 sales have dropped to just 4 units in September. Many potential buyers would have adopted a wait and watch policy. They are expected to take a decision once Pulsar 250 is launched. It remains to be seen which among the two emerges as favourite.
      Bajaj Dominar Sales Last 12 Months
      In the last 12 months, Dominar 250 sales have averaged 560 units per month. Its bigger sibling Dominar 400 appears to be doing relatively better with average monthly sales of 741 units. Dominar 250 sales are likely below expectation, even though the bike is competitively priced. Earlier this year in July, Bajaj had even reduced price of Dominar 250 from Rs 1.71 lakh to Rs 1.54 lakh.
      A reduction of 17k was significant, especially at a time when most manufacturers have raised prices of their two-wheelers multiple times this year. However, price cut does not seem to have made any major difference in sales. August sales of 440 units are quite less as compared to a high of 1,750 units in October last year.
      Apart from pricing, Bajaj has also worked to improve the bike’s look and feel. In August, three new colour options were introduced for Dominar 250. All three are dual-tone colour options, referred to as Citrus Rush and Matt Silver, Sparkling Black and Matt Silver, and Racing Red and Matt Silver. These have significantly enhanced the bike’s sporty profile.
      Dominar 250 vs. Pulsar 250
      Being the largest Pulsar ever, the 250cc model is expected to be a well-equipped bike. In terms of styling, Pulsar 250 sports an entirely new look. Only a limited number of features have been borrowed from existing Pulsar motorcycles. Key updates include a new semi-digital instrument console. It is possible that the bike could get Bluetooth-based connectivity features.
      The bike gets a new chassis. The frame comprises a twin tubular cradle frame and there is no downtube. The bike utilizes standard telescopic forks at front and a monoshock absorber at rear. Both wheels have disc brakes and dual-channel ABS is expected to be standard. The bike will be utilizing Grimeca callipers.
      Powering Pulsar 250 will be an entirely new 249cc, single cylinder, air/oil-cooled motor. It is expected to generate 24 bhp of max power and 20 Nm of peak torque. It will be mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is expected to get advanced features like assist and sipper clutch and variable valve actuation (VVA).       The new Bajaj Pulsar 250 is one of the most hotly anticipated motorcycle launches of the year and it is arriving at a time when bookings usually skyrocket. The upcoming launch also marks the 20th Anniversary of the Pulsar brand of sporty commuter motorcycles.
      Ahead of its launch on October 28, the upcoming quarter-litre motorcycles have been spied in detail by The Fat Biker. As already established by now, the new Pulsar 250 will be available in two iterations- Pulsar NS250 and Pulsar 250F. The former will be a naked streetfighter whereas the latter will be a semi-faired sports commuter.
      Both versions of the bike flaunt an aggressive front face featuring a single-pod LED headlamp cluster and integrated LED DRLs which look sleeker and sharper than previous iterations of Pulsars. The most noticeable difference between the two variants of Pulsar 250 is that, unlike 250F, the NS250 will not feature a prominent front apron.

      The semi-faired 250F takes styling inspiration from its smaller sibling 220F and sports a large front apron comprising a headlamp cowl and a windscreen that integrates into the side fairing. Other than the extended tank shrouds, NS250 doesn’t feature any body panels. 250F offers a clip-on handlebar that is more pulled back and raised towards the rider.

      The naked streetfighter, on the other hand, gets a straight line handlebar which leads to a slightly more committed riding posture. Some common highlights on both motorcycles include split grab rails, a side-mounted twin-barrel exhaust canister, a split LED taillight design, a raised tails section, an engine underbelly cowl and a rear tyre hugger attached to the swingarm.
      Hardware Configurations & Features
      Underpinning both quarter-litre motorcycles is a brand new chassis comprising a twin tubular cradle frame with no downtube. This frame will be suspended on conventional 41mm telescopic forks at front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock linked to the swingarm at rear. Braking duties will be carried out by single disc brakes at both wheels while the rotors will be clamped down by calipers sourced from Grimeca.
      These will be aided by a dual-channel ABS as standard. Talking of features, the new Pulsar 250 will receive a new semi-digital instrument console which could be enabled with Bluetooth.       Expected Engine Specs
      Powering the new Pulsar 250 will be a new 249cc single-cylinder air/oil-cooled engine that is likely to push out 24 bhp and 20 Nm of peak torque. This unit will be mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch.
