Bajaj 400cc Sales Sep 2024 – Pulsar, Dominar, KTM, Triumph, Husqvarna

New Bajaj Pulsar 400Despite Pulsar NS400Z being the most affordable of this bunch, it is not the best-selling offering among the Bajaj 400cc Sales
The premium single-cylinder motorcycle segment has seen a lot of action in India lately. This is a segment where Royal Enfield is very active with its 350cc and 450cc portfolio. However, Bajaj aims to counter these offerings with their standalone products and partner products through Triumph, KTM and Husqvarna.
Together, Bajaj has a slew of 400cc offerings that aim to cater to a wider audience. These vehicles are across Bajaj’s own Pulsar and Dominar brands along with partner brands like KTM’s Duke, Adventure and RC lineups, Triumph’s Speed and Scrambler lineups and Husqvarna’s Svartpilen lineup.
    Bajaj 400cc Sales September 2024
Together, these motorcycles accounted for a total of 7,059 units sold in September 2024. When compared to 6,296 units sold in September 2023 and 7,306 units sold in August 2024, Bajaj’s 400cc portfolio witnessed a 12.12% YoY growth with 763 units gained in volume and a 3.38% MoM decline losing 247 units in volume.
Despite being the most affordable of this bunch, Pulsar NS400Z is not the best-selling 400cc offering from the house of Bajaj. This could be a clear indication that not a lot of people liked the bike’s design, which garnered mixed opinions at launch and with the leaked spy shots before launch.
    Bajaj 400cc Sales September 2024 – YoY
The best-seller, however, is the Triumph 400 family with 3,411 units sold and accounts for almost half of Bajaj’s 400cc empire. 48.32% to be precise. With 4,508 units sold last year and 3,328 units sold a month before, Triumph 400 witnessed a 24.33% YoY decline losing 1,097 units in volume and a 2.49% MoM growth gaining 83 units in volume.
    Bajaj 400cc Sales September 2024 – MoM
Triumph Speed T4 was launched halfway into September 2024 and the reception of that more affordable motorcycle will be reflected in next month’s sales charts. In 2nd place, we have the Pulsar NS400Z with 2,122 units clocked and contributing 30.06% of Bajaj’s total 400cc sales. There was a 15.66% MoM decline with 394 units lost in volume.
Dominar registered YoY and MoM growth
Bajaj’s Dominar lineup took 3rd place with 794 units and is the only vehicle on this list to register both YoY and MoM growth of 18.15% and 12.94% respectively. Volume growth stood at 122 units YoY and 91 units MoM.
With 695 units sold, we have KTM’s 390 lineup in 4th place. When compared to 1,116 units sold last year and 711 units sold a month before, KTM 390 witnessed a severe 37.22% YoY decline and 2.25% MoM decline, losing 421 and 16 units in volume respectively. Lastly, we have Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 which sold 37 units, down from 48 units sold in August 2024 resulting in 22.92% MoM decline. More

New Pulsar N125 Vs Raider, Xtreme 125R, Super Splendor, Shine, SP125

Bajaj Pulsar N125With its distinctive, sporty profile and best-in-segment power-to-weight ratio, Pulsar N125 can be a big challenge for rivals
As part of its plans to continually strengthen the stronghold of the Pulsar range, Bajaj has introduced the all-new Pulsar N125. Prices start at Rs 94,707, making it one of the affordable options in the 125cc segment. To understand its potential, here’s a comparison between Pulsar N125 vs. Hero Xtreme 125R vs. TVS Raider vs. Hero Glamour vs. Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG vs. Super Splendor vs. Pulsar 125 vs. Honda Shine vs. Honda SP125.
Pulsar N125 Vs. Rivals – Styling and features
As first impressions matter, Bajaj has done a good job in terms of the bike’s design and styling. While rivals like TVS Raider and Hero Xtreme 125R too have a sporty profile, Pulsar N125 stands out with its sharp looks and exclusive colour choices.
    [embedded content]
Specially tantalizing is the Ebony black – Purple Fury colour option. This dual-tone shade is available with the LED Disc Bluetooth variant. Some of the key highlights of Pulsar N125 include its sharp panels and tank shrouds, edgy headlamp design, chunky suspension covers, split seats and an underbelly exhaust.
Pulsar N125 Vs. Rivals – Performance
While the visuals get one hooked, Pulsar N125 takes a lead in performance aspects as well. The bike has a 124.58 cc engine that delivers 12 PS. This is the same as the Pulsar NS125 and higher than other rivals. Xtreme 125R and TVS Raider deliver 11.4 PS and 11.38 PS, respectively. Pulsar 125 generates 11.8 PS. Torque output of Pulsar N125 is 11 Nm, which is more than Xtreme 125R (10.5 Nm), but slightly lower than Raider that produces 11.2 Nm. TVS Raider has the highest torque output among all 125cc motorcycles.
    Bajaj Pulsar N125 vs Rivals
Bajaj is claiming the Pulsar N125 to have the fastest-in-segment 0-60 kmph acceleration. One of the key factors making it possible is the lightweight profile of Pulsar N125. Coupled with highest power output, it ensures that the bike has the best power-to-weight ratio in the 125cc segment. Pulsar N125 has a kerb weight of 125 kg. In comparison, the primary rivals Raider and Xtreme 125R weigh 122 kg (drum)/123 kg (disc) and 136 kg, respectively.
Pulsar N125 has the highest power-to-weight ratio at 96 PS/ton. The only other bikes in 125cc segment to have power-to-weight ratio greater than 90 PS/ton include TVS Raider (92.5 (disc)/93.3 (drum)), Honda Shine (93 (disc) / 93.9 (drum)) and SP125 (91.5 (disc)/ 92.3 (drum)). These numbers support Bajaj’s claim that Pulsar N125 is designed to dominate urban streets that have chaotic and heavy traffic. Pulsar N125 is also better designed to tackle rough patches. It has best-in-segment ground clearance of 198 mm.
Pulsar N125 Vs. rivals – Pricing
When compared to primary rivals TVS Raider and Xtreme 125R, Bajaj Pulsar N125 is the most accessible bike. Base variant is priced at Rs 94,707, whereas the top variant starts at Rs 98,707. In comparison, TVS Raider base and top variants are priced at Rs 95,439 and Rs 1,03,830, respectively. Hero Xtreme 125R base and top variants are priced at Rs 95,800 and Rs 99,500, respectively. Bajaj Pulsar N125 Launch Price Starts Rs 95K – First Ride Review

Bajaj Pulsar N125 First-Ride ReviewWith the launch of Pulsar N125, Bajaj has carved out a sportier product promising the highest power-to-weight ratio in its segment
Ever since the launch of Classic Pulsar 150, Bajaj has been a staple name among India’s motorcycling enthusiasts looking for an exciting, yet affordable motorcycle. Pulsar brand has been enjoying a cult following in India and is a preferred choice for many. In 125cc segment, Bajaj has added a new Pulsar, bridging more excitement to the masses than it did before.
Of course, we’re talking about the just launched Bajaj Pulsar N125 boasting an exciting new design along with best-in-segment performance credentials. But is it enough to take on the competition which includes TVS Raider 125 and Hero Xtreme 125R? Considering that 125cc Pulsars (Pulsar 125 and Pulsar NS125) are Bajaj’s best-selling offerings, will new Pulsar N125 push the envelope further? Let’s take a look.
    [embedded content]
    Bajaj Pulsar N125 First-Ride Review
The company arranged a media drive for Pulsar N125 at Raftaar Gokarting Track in Pune, Maharashtra. Bajaj provided Rushlane with top-spec Pulsar N125 LED Disc BT Variant in Ebony Black Purple Fury shade for a short ride. This colourway looked a lot more appealing than the other two colourways – Ebony Black Cocktail Wine Red and Pewter Grey Citrus Rush. Base LED Disc variant is offered in Pearl Metallic White, Ebony Black, Cocktail Wine Red and Carribean Blue.
As the name suggests, LED Disc BT variant comes with a Bluetooth-equipped instrument console priced at Rs 98,707 (Ex-sh), while the base LED Disc is priced at Rs 94,707 (Ex-sh). Prices are in line with what rivals are offering, considering the equipment on board. Within Bajaj’s 125cc Pulsar lineup, Pulsar N125 is positioned above Classic Pulsar 125 and below Pulsar NS125.
    Pulsar N125 Prices
Where design is concerned, I think Bajaj has hit it out of the park this time around. Pulsar N125 gets a refreshing new design language which is edgy and has a lot of presence. It is sporty in appearance and is the sharpest-looking 125cc Pulsar Bajaj ever sold. With premium 125cc segment booming, Pulsar N125 fits right in and aims to carve out a niche for itself, setting it apart from TVS Raider and Hero Xtreme 125R.
    Bajaj Pulsar N125
    How does it look?
Before the launch, Pulsar N125 was speculated to be an ADV-type offering as test mules showed a few ADV-like elements. These have been carried over in the production model. For example, we have a long split seat, a pronounced grab rail for pillion, a headlight design shaped like it has a tiny faux beak and the segment-best 198 mm ground clearance. Despite being high off the ground, Pulsar N125 has an accessible seat height of 795 mm.
    Bajaj Pulsar N125 Design
Main draw for Pulsar N125 is that it has beefy suspension covers, lending a macho appeal. A chiseled fuel tank, muscular tank shrouds extending into its engine bay, angular body panels and striking dual-tone floating panels are other notable elements. Headlight assembly is a dual-pod element with vertically stacked chambers populated by LEDs. Rear has neatly laid out LED tail lights, which encompass Pulsar DNA. Beneath front fork covers, we have RSU telescopic forks, while rear gets a mono-shock setup. Keeping the bike compact is an underbelly exhaust.
Bajaj Pulsar N125 Front Fork Covers
17-inch alloy wheels remind me of Pulsar P150 (RIP). Switchgear has all the elements one would expect with a 125cc motorcycle. To control Bluetooth-equipped instrument cluster, there is a Mode button as well. Bajaj is offering a Type-A USB charging port on fuel tank. Right-side switchgear has a toggle for auto engine start/stop feature too. Only the front wheel gets disc brake and Bajaj is offering CBS, leaving Xtreme 125R as the only one in this segment to offer single-channel ABS.
    Bajaj Pulsar N125 Switchgear
    Ride, Handling and Performance
Bajaj arranged the media drive for Pulsar at Raftaar Gokarting Track in Pune, for a reason. This Go Karting track is perfect to test slow-speed manoeuvrability of Pulsar N125 along with its handling characteristics at a higher pace. Before that, we have to get engine’s performance metrics out of the way. So, a 124.58 cc engine generates 12 PS at 8,500 RPM and 11 Nm at 6,000 RPM, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
    Bajaj Pulsar N125 Engine
12 PS is segment best, but is the same as Pulsar NS125’s numbers. However, Pulsar NS125 weighs a hefty 144 kg, whereas Pulsar N125 weighs only 125 kg. Thus Pulsar N125 claims the highest power-to-weight ratio of 96 PS per tonne, which is again best-in-segment. In real-world conditions, these numbers do translate well and ensure peppy performance with enough vigour to thrill riders.
    Bajaj Pulsar N125 Seat
Acceleration is brisk where 125cc premium commuters are concerned and Pulsar N125 has a youthful character. 1,295 mm wheelbase is not the shortest in this segment, nor is it the longest, offering a right blend of straight-line stability and handling. In city traffic, Pulsar N125 was easy to flick around. This bike inspires confidence to be playful and have a thrilling commute. Bajaj claims around 97 km/h top speed, but the bike reached 110 km/h in our testing (speedo indicated).
    Bajaj Pulsar N125
Suspension is neutral as it offers a decent blend of great handling and bump absorption. 198 mm ground clearance ensured that we did not bottom out on bad patches of roads, which are frequent occurrences in Pune. Braking is par for this segment and offers a good bite to bring this machine to a halt. Weighing less definitely contributes to good braking feedback.
    Bajaj Pulsar N125 Instrument Console
    Conclusion
Concluding Bajaj Pulsar N125 is very easy. It is the lightest 125cc Pulsar sold by Bajaj and we think it is the sportiest to look at. With Pulsar N125, Bajaj is expanding its best-selling segment and is offering tough competition to TVS Raider 125 and Hero Xtreme 125R. It looks the part and offers highest ground clearance, which is unique in this segment.
    Bajaj Pulsar N125
However, Pulsar N125 is not perfect. Hero is offering single-channel ABS and LED turn indicators, which Bajaj could have offered as well. TVS Raider offers the best TFT instrument cluster in this segment with a plethora of features. In contrast, Bajaj Pulsar N125’s LCD cluster lacks basic features like a tachometer and gear position indicator. Bluetooth connectivity is also very limited in functionality as there is no navigation feature.
    Bajaj Pulsar N125 LED Headlight
There could have been a variant with drum brakes at the front, for an even more accessible base price. Also, the Automatic engine stop/start feature was not working on our unit during the testing. Which was a bummer. Instrument cluster showed a real-time fuel economy of around 31 km/l, which is not accurate considering that it is a new vehicle and will yield more mileage (fuel efficiency) with time. Claimed FE of the new N125 is around 60-65 kmpl. More

It’s an LED unit and quite different from other bikes in the Pulsar range. Multiple colour options are on offer. These are Purple, Red, Green, Black, Blue, White, etc.

Users can do a lot more with the Bajaj Ride Connect app, provided that this functionality is supported by the new Pulsar N125. Tech package will also include a USB charging port.
Bajaj Pulsar N125 Colours – Green
    Ride ergonomics
While Pulsar N125 has a dominating road presence, it has a fairly comfortable riding stance. However, users should be able to achieve a slightly leaning riding stance based on their preferences. The rider seat looks wide and comfy, which should suffice for negotiating urban streets. As indicated in the teasers, Pulsar N125 is positioned as a highly manoeuvrable and agile machine.
Bajaj Pulsar N125 Colours – Red
    Pulsar N125 performance
New Bajaj Pulsar N125 will be using the 125cc engine as seen with other 125cc Pulsar bikes. Engine specs of this new bike are not yet out. But it is expected to get the same 2-valve, twin spark, DTS-i engine that delivers 11.8 PS and 10.8 Nm. It will be mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike has telescopic forks at front and a monoshock unit at the rear. Braking setup comprises a front disc and rear drum combo.
Upon launch, the new Bajaj Pulsar N125 will take on rivals such as TVS Raider and Hero Xtreme 125R. To boost sales, Bajaj is expected to launch the Pulsar N125 at a competitive price point. Being among the country’s leading 2W and 3W vehicle manufacturers, Bajaj Auto, has been radicalising premium commuter and street motorcycle genre with Pulsar brand. Expanding the Pulsar lineup is the new Pulsar N125.
    Bajaj Pulsar N125 Launch
With the just-launched Pulsar N125, Bajaj aims to push the sales boundaries and position itself as the country’s best-selling 125cc motorcycle manufacturer. After launching Freedom 125 CNG, which is the world’s first CNG motorcycle, Bajaj came up with the biggest-ever Pulsar in the form of Pulsar NS400Z.
    2024 Bajaj Pulsar N125
Now, looking at the opposite end of displacement, we have the just-launched Pulsar N125, which is tasked to be the best-selling 125cc bike in India. 125cc Pulsars have been Bajaj’s best-selling category and the company is further expanding its lineup in this displacement class consisting of Pulsar 125 and Pulsar NS125.
Pulsar N125 appears to be the sportiest of this trio, while Pulsar NS125 looks the bulkiest, owing to its larger proportions and higher weight. Design-wise, the Pulsar N125 emerges as a handsome machine. Sticking with its Pulsar family genes, Pulsar N125 gets an aggressive design. Muscular tank shrouds and edgy headlight design are stand-out elements.
    2024 Bajaj Pulsar N125
Also notable with Pulsar N125 is a sculpted fuel tank, split seat design, single-piece rear pillion grab rail, a chunky tyre hugger, among others. Like Freedom 125, Pulsar N125 also gets muscular covers on its RSU telescopic front forks, contributing to its macho appearance.
    2024 Bajaj Pulsar N125
Headlights are LEDs and they are vertically stacked. Rear tail lights are LEDs too and resemble other Pulsars. However, turn indicators are all halogen, unlike Hero Xtreme 125R. Looking at the motorcycle, one can see that the rider’s triangle is fairly upright, but with a slight lean on the handlebars.
    2024 Bajaj Pulsar N125
    Specs and Features
Where Powertrains are concerned, Bajaj has gone with a 125cc air-cooled single-cylinder motor that is capable of kicking out 11.8 bhp of peak power and 11 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. These are similar numbers to what we saw with the Pulsar NS125, but Pulsar N125 weighs less, giving a better power-to-weight ratio.
    2024 Bajaj Pulsar N125
Componentry-wise, RSU telescopic front forks, rear mono-shock, front disc brake option, box section swingarm, 17-inch alloy wheels with same design as Pulsar P150’s, among others. Features include a fully digital instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and a USB charging port. Hero Xtreme 125R and TVS Raider 125 continue to be the primary rivals to Bajaj Pulsar N125.
In other news, Bajaj Auto share price suffered a massive decline of over 12% on the BSE, down by Rs 1,450, trading at Rs 10,170 currently. Analysts suggest due to the recent Q2 results announced for the FY 2024/25 period and the muted commentary for upcoming festive season.

Bajaj Pulsar N125 – Key features
As there are already two 125cc Pulsar bikes, the upcoming Pulsar N125 will have to offer something special to get the attention of enthusiasts. Teasers reveal that the N125 is programmed to achieve that goal. Visually, Pulsar N125 has a striking presence, similar to other N series Pulsar bikes. A new purple colour was seen in the teasers, which appears quite enigmatic.

Some more attractive colour options could be made available with Pulsar N125. Colour options for existing Pulsar 125 and NS125 appear relatively subdued in comparison to the energetic purple shade seen with Pulsar N125. The bike also gets sporty graphics and decals that further enhance the overall look and feel. Another highlight is the 3D Pulsar logo on the fuel tank.
A walkaround would reveal features such as sleek LED headlamp, sharp tank shrouds, sporty fuel tank design and polygonal rear-view mirrors. Pulsar N125 has an underbelly exhaust that ensures a smooth appearance for the side profile. The bike has a split seat design, short tail section, robust grab rails and rear tyre hugger. A slightly forward-leaning riding position is likely to resonate with the younger generation.

    Pulsar N125 – Agile performance
Based on the teasers, it is evident that Pulsar N125 will be the most agile and manoeuvrable 125 cc Pulsar bike. It is designed to dominate the chaotic urban streets, often seen with heavy traffic. Terms like ‘daring’ used in the teasers clearly reveal the promise of entirely new experiences with a smaller-capacity Pulsar bike. Power will be supplied via a 125 cc, air cooled, single cylinder engine that generates 11.8 PS and 10.8 Nm. Users will have access to a 5-speed gearbox.
