New Bajaj Pulsar N 150Bajaj Auto has seen its two wheeler and commercial vehicle segments report growth both in terms of YoY and YTD basis in domestic markets even as CV exports experience some declineIn the two wheeler segment, domestic sales grew by 36 percent YoY to 1,93,350 units in January 2024, up from 1,42,368 units sold in January 2023. It was also significant growth on a MoM basis as compared to 1,58,370 units sold in December 2023.Bajaj Auto YoY Sales January 2024Exports also posted a YoY growth of 14 percent to 1,14,898 units in January 2024, up 14 percent from 1,00,678 units sold in January 2023. This took total two wheeler sales to 3,08,248 units in January 2024, up 27 percent from 2,43,047 units sold in January 2023.Bajaj Auto Sales Jan 2024In the commercial vehicle space, the company has recorded a 12 percent YoY growth in domestic sales which stood at 36,693 units in the past month, up from 32,842 units sold in January 2023. Exports dipped by 8 percent to 11,069 units, down from 12,046 units shipped in January 2023. This took total CV sales up 6 percent to 47,762 units in January 2024 from 44,888 units sold in the same month last year.Combining sales both in the two-wheeler and commercial vehicle segments, sales in domestic markets grew by 31 percent YoY to 2,30,043 units, up from 1,75,210 units sold in January 2023. Exports also showed off a 12 percent YoY growth to 1,25,967 units, up from 1,12,725 units sold in January 2023. Total CV sales (domestic + exports) thus stood at 3,56,010 units in the past month, relating to a 24 percent YoY growth over 2,87,935 units sold in January 2023.Bajaj Auto Sales YTDBajaj Auto YTD Sales – April – January 2024Taking into account two wheeler sales in the past 10 month, Bajaj Auto has seen a 24 percent rise in domestic sales. Sales stood at 18,97,054 units in the April-January 2024 period, up from 15,33,261 units sold in the same period of 2023. Exports however, dipped significantly by 14 percent to 12,22,300 units in the April-Jan 2024 period, down from 14,27,220 units shipped in April-Jan 2023. This saw total two wheeler sales at 31,19,354 units in the 2024 period up 5 percent from 29,60,481 units sold in the same period of the previous year.In the commercial vehicle segment as well, Bajaj Auto experienced growth across domestic sales, while exports suffered a setback. In domestic markets, there was a phenomenal growth of 67 percent to 3,90,382 units, up from just 2,33,543 units sold in April-Jan 2023 period. CV exports dipped by 21 percent on a YTD basis to 1,28,631 units, down from 1,62,040 units shipped in the April-Jan 2023 period. This took total sales in this segment up 31 percent to 5,19,013 units during the April-Jan 2024 period from 3,95,583 units sold in the same 10 month period last year.Total sales (domestic + exports) thus went up 8 percent on a YTD basis. This included 22,87,436 units sold in domestic markets and 13,50,931 units which were exported. Bajaj Pulsar 220While Bajaj sales breakup December 2023 charts showed 1,51,085 units sold in domestic market, exports stood at 1,08,062 unitsIndia’s leading 2W and 3W manufacturer, Bajaj Auto, has revealed their sales numbers for the month of December 2023 in both domestic and international business. The company ended 2023’s last month in style with 23.50% YoY growth in domestic market and a slight 4.91% YoY decline in exports.Bajaj Sales Breakup December 2023 – Domestic MarketLike always, Pulsar lineup tops Bajaj’s sales charts with 1,06,734 units sold. The sales growth was an impressive 42.75% YoY, when compared to 74,768 units sold in December 2022 with 31,966 units volume growth. Pulsars alone accounted for 70.65% of Bajaj’s total domestic sales. Next in line was Platina with 26,166 units clocked and faced 27.63% YoY decline losing 9,991 units in volume.Platina accounts for 17.32% of Bajaj’s domestic sales. 3rd place is taken by Chetak with 13,008 units and registered 277.7% YoY growth, gaining 9,564 units in volume over 3,444 units sold last year. Bajaj sold 3,524 CTs, 1,008 Avengers and 645 Dominars in India which saw 42.93%, 4.18% and 13.19% YoY dip respectively.Total domestic sales for December 2023 stood at 1,51,085 units with 23.50% YoY growth over 1,22,339 units sold in Dec 2022. This led to volume growth of 28,746 units YoY. Breaking these numbers down with respect to their displacement classes in domestic market, 125cc Pulsars steal the show for Bajaj accounting for 40.57% of Bajaj’s total domestic sales.Bajaj Sales Breakup December 2023 – DomesticBajaj sold 61,302 units of 125cc Pulsars that saw 50.55% YoY growth, gaining 20,583 units in volume. After that, we have Pulsars again, but in 150cc segment with 26,471 units sold and registering 10.72% YoY growth along with 17.52% of Bajaj’s total domestic sales. Then we have Platina with 26,166 units sold and accounts for 17.32% of Bajaj’s domestic sales.200cc and 160cc Pulsars account for 10.52% of company’s domestic numbers with 15,891 units sold and 60.6% YoY growth. Chetaks account for 8.61% of company’s domestic sales.Export Market (International Business)Boxer is Bajaj’s superstar in export markets with 52,996 units shipped last month accounting for 49.04% of Bajaj’s total exports. Boxer’s appeal seems to have dipped as there was 31.35% YoY decline. Pulsar’s popularity is rising with 26,431 units shipped, doubling numbers YoY at 112.01% growth and accounting for 24.46% of Bajaj’s total exports.Bajaj Sales Breakup December 2023 – ExportsCT and Discover range shipped 16,836 units and 7,392 units respectively with positive YoY growth. Dominar and Platina range shipped 2,344 and 1,861 units respectively and both saw YoY decline. Avenger saw 5.21% YoY growth, but sample size was small at 202 units. In total, there were 1,08,062 units shipped by Bajaj and witnessed 4.91% YoY decline, losing 5,578 units in volume.Breaking down Bajaj’s export numbers as per displacement classes, we get Boxer at the top, operating within 110cc and accounting for 33.06% of Bajaj’s total exports. Boxer also operates under 150cc and those motorcycles accounted for 10.96% share. Pulsar’s popularity has risen YoY and it now accounts for 10.49% of Bajaj’s total exports. More

Bajaj Pulsar N160 Spotted with USD forksWe don’t expect a whole lot of revisions with the new Bajaj Pulsar N160 spotted testing as it is a mild feature and equipment updatePulsar has been Bajaj’s highest-selling lineup and keeping them updated is very crucial for the company. MD Rajiv Bajaj has mentioned there will be new Pulsars launched by the end of this FY. In that regard, we get to see multiple test mules of updated Pulsars. Most recent of the bunch is N160 which has been spotted with USD front forks.Bajaj Pulsar N160 Spotted With USD Front ForksNot just the Pulsar N160 which has been recently spotted testing by automotive enthusiast Tejas WD, Bajaj is updating other vehicles in Pulsar N range along with NS range as well. Latest test mules spotted were of Pulsar N160 which is seen testing with USD telescopic front forks adding a lot of muscle to bike’s design.Apart from design and aesthetics, USD telescopic front forks offer more chassis rigidity that should ensure more dynamic handling characteristics. As of now, N range is Pulsar’s youngest lineup and has more headroom for evolution in the future. This lineup spawns a 150cc offering (N150), 160cc (N160) and a 250cc offering (N250).Bajaj has been teasing new updates with its Pulsae N range. Considering how similarly kitted they are in terms of features, we would wager these new updates Bajaj is teasing, will be on offer with all the N bikes – N150, N160 and N250. Primary addition will be USD front telescopic forks unlocking more agility to attack corners.New Pulsar N160Bajaj is also teasing call alerts and notification display on instrument cluster. Looking at how futuristic this teaser looks, Bajaj might offer a TFT display like we saw with new Chetak along with improved switchgear. However, Bajaj only teased call and notification alerts and not navigation. So, we can see more basic Bluetooth functionalities on existing instrument cluster too.What to expect?Most likely possibility is that Bajaj will offer a new instrument cluster that supports Bluetooth connectivity. This should unlock basic call and notification alerts, similar to what Yamaha has been doing. That said, the recent test mules confirm presence of USD telescopic front forks, but not presence of Chetak’s Digi Screen.Some time ago, a Pulsar NS160 test mule was spotted too showing improved switchgear and a camouflaged instrument cluster. When we say improved switchgear, Bajaj has only added a hazard light switch and not the whole array of buttons that new Chetak gets. As Pulsar NS line is slightly older, there is a possibility of Pulsar N line getting more features.Mechanically, we don’t expect any changes to engines or gearboxes.
