Bajaj is in the process of updating its bestselling Pulsar range in line with evolving customer needs and market dynamics. The basic idea is to introduce cosmetic enhancements, which will make Pulsar range more attractive to customers. The latest to get these updates is Pulsar 220F, one of the bestsellers in its class.
As may be recalled, Bajaj had earlier introduced updates in Pulsar 150 and Pulsar 180. These updated motorcycles have started reaching dealerships and official launch is expected soon. It is likely that prices may be increased slightly for 2021 Pulsar models. Prices will be announced by the company at the time of launch.

If we talk about existing 220F, it is offered in colour options of Black Blue and Black Red. For 2021 Pulsar 220F, Bajaj has introduced new colour options. One of these is Matte Black, which is a combo of black and red.
While the new colour shades look similar to existing ones, the overall look and feel of the motorcycle has undergone a significant change. That’s because the graphics have been completely revamped and their placement has also been updated.

In 2021 Pulsar 220F, the graphics cover a significant portion of the fuel tank. In addition, the contrasting shades of red have been introduced on the headlight cowl as well. The updated graphics can also be seen on engine cowl, front fender, and rear tail section. Colour coded alloy wheel decals are quite the same as earlier.

2021 Pulsar 220F also gets faux carbon fibre cues on the front fender, side panels, engine cowl and rear tail section. Overall, the updated motorcycle has a blacked-out profile. This is evident in the blacked-out engine, handlebar, alloy wheels, exhaust and heat shield, and suspension.

This colour combo gets relatively more chaotic, as there are three contrasting shades vying for attention. Against a white background that’s visible on the fuel tank, fairing and tail section, the motorcycle utilizes red and black graphics. The design and placement of the graphics is the same as that of Matte Black version. The underside is completely blacked out as well.

2021 Bajaj Pulsar 220F will continue to use the same engine as earlier. The 220cc, oil cooled Twin Spark, DTS-i FI engine is capable of generating 20.4 PS of max power and 18.55 Nm of peak torque. Bajaj Auto domestic and export sales figures for the Pulsar range for Feb 2021 have been detailed. In domestic market, it was the Pulsar 125 and 150 that commanded their sales charts while in global markets, the 160, 180, 200 found most buyers.
Domestic sales stood at 81,454 units in Feb 21, up 7.65 percent over 75,669 units sold in Feb 20. MoM sales however, dipped 16.53 percent from 97,580 units sold in Jan 21.
Domestic Sales
It may be seen that in both counts, it was the Pulsar 125 and 150 that claimed top spots. The entry level offering saw sales of 39,323 units in Feb 21, up 256.48 percent over 11,031 units sold in Feb 20 while MoM sales suffered a de-growth of 16.48 percent as against 47,080 units sold in Jan 21 even as percentage share has increased marginally from 48.25 held in Jan 21 to 48.28 percent as on date.
This was followed at No. 2 by the Pulsar 150 which noted de-growth both in terms of YoY and MoM sales. Currently commanding a share of 31.37 percent in the brand lineup, sales of the Pulsar 150 dipped 48.74 percent YoY to 25,550 units while MoM sales dipped 21.29 percent as against 32,460 units sold in Jan 21.
Bajaj Pulsar Domestic Sales Feb 2021
For 2021, Bajaj Auto is planning to refresh the Pulsar 150 range with new colour options. The Pulsar 150 is currently presented three variants – 150 Neon, 150 standard model, and 150 Twin Disc.
The Pulsar 160, 180 and 200 range noted an increase of 45.90 percent to 11,643 units in Feb 21 as against 7,980 units sold in the same month of the previous year while in Jan 21 sales stood at 11,730 units, a marginal 0.74 percent MoM de-growth. Of the Pulsar 220F, the company noted de-growth YoY and MoM at 27.56 percent and 21.74 percent respectively. Sales stood at 4,938 units in Feb 21, down from 6,817 units sold in Feb 21 while Jan 21 sales were at 6,310 units.
Bajaj Pulsar Exports
Where exports of the Bajaj Pulsar range was concerned, the past month saw the 160,180 and 200 variants more in demand. Total exports stood at 30,863 units, up from 19,200 units exported in Feb 20 while MoM exports dipped 13.61 percent from 35,724 units exported in Jan 21.

YoY exports increased for each of the variants in the Pulsar lineup except for the 220F Exports of the 160,180 and 200 stood at 14,689 units, up 73.69 percent over 8,457 units exported in Feb 21 though exports in Jan 21 had stood at 18,056 units, relating to a 18.65 percent MoM de-growth.
The Bajaj Pulsar 150 was at No.2 and the 125 at No.3 with 93.77 percent and 72.26 percent growth in terms of YoY exports. The Pulsar 125 also noted a MoM growth by 34.30 percent with 3,458 units sold in Jan 21 while exports of the Pulsar 150 dipped 15.59 percent following 12,674 units exported in Jan 21.
The flagship Pulsar 220F saw diminishing exports both on YoY and MoM basis. Exports which had stood at 2,526 units in Feb 20 dipped 67.06 percent to 832 units in Feb 21 while Jan exports were at 1,536 units. For a sportier look and feel, Bajaj has introduced new colour option and visual updates for its bestselling Pulsar 150 motorcycle. The bike is available in three models, Pulsar 150 standard, Pulsar 150 Neon and Pulsar 150 dual disc. While the engine and core cycle parts are the same across all three models, they differ in terms of their colour options and graphics.

The new colour options on offer with the 2021 Bajaj Pulsar are white, black, red and blue. All these colour options are finished in Matte and are expected to be officially launched soon. All colours uses a mix of others.

For example, the white Pulsar utilizes an exciting mix of red and black graphics against a white background. This triple colour combo can be seen on the headlight cowl, fuel tank, engine cowl and rear tail section. Another change can be seen on the front mudguard that gets glossy carbon fibre sticker.
The bike utilizes a blacked-out theme, as is evident in the blacked out engine, wheels, handlebar, rear view mirrors, exhaust pipe and heat shield, side panels, and rear suspension. The combo of white and black looks striking and strips of red further enhance the motorcycle’s visual appeal.

It is possible that Bajaj may introduce new colour options for other Pulsar models. As of now, Pulsar 150 Neon is offered in Neon Red, Neon Silver and Neon Lime Green colour options. The twin disc model is available in Black Blue and Black Red colour options.
With the updates, 2021 Pulsar 150 single disc will become pricier by around Rs 2k-3k. Similarly, price of other Pulsar 150 models could be increased based on the level of updates they get. Pulsar 150 Neon is currently the cheapest, available at a starting price of Rs 94,125 (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Pulsar 150 single disc costs Rs 1,00,070 whereas the twin disc model starts at Rs 1,03,072.
2021 Pulsar 150 engine
Engine is the same as earlier, a 149.50 cc, DTS-i FI, twin spark unit that is capable of generating 14 ps of max power at 8,500 rpm and 13.25 Nm of max torque at 6,500 rpm. This is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The motorcycle is known for being fuel efficient, offering around 50-55 kmpl.
Pulsar 150 single disc variant has 260 mm disc brake at the front, integrated with single channel ABS. Rear wheel has 130 mm drum brake. The twin disc model has 280 mm and 230 mm disc brakes at front and rear. Suspension duties on-board Pulsar 150 single disc model are performed by 31 mm standard telescopic forks at the front and twin gas filled canister based shock absorber at the rear. More

2021 Bajaj Pulsar RS 200
Bajaj Pulsar RS200 competes against other faired sportsbikes such as KTM RC 200, Yamaha R15 V3 and Suzuki Gixxer SF 250

RS200 already received a mild facelift last year when it got upgraded to BS6 emission norms. It is offered in a solitary trim level at a price pegged at Rs 1.52 lakh (ex-showroom). There has been no change in its design ever since it first went on sale in the country.
The bike continues to sport a fully-faired styling, the only one apart from the flagship Pulsar 220F in Bajaj Auto’s entire lineup. Other design highlights in Pulsar RS200 include a dual-projector headlamp setup, twin running LED DRLs and an odd-looking LED tail lamp.
New TVC
Bajaj has recently released a new TV commercial on its YouTube channel. The latest TVC shows two mules of the faired sporty commuter bike in the shadows. Tag line of the commercial is – Racing Thrill Unleashed.
Currently, the flagship Pulsar is available with three paint options namely Burnt Red, Metallic Pearl White and Pewter Grey. Other than getting new colour schemes and BS6 upgrade, no new updates either cosmetic or mechanically have been made in Pulsar RS200 since launch.

Features & Powertrain
Coming to features, the sporty commuter motorcycle is offered with gizmos such as a semi-digital instrument cluster, LED turn indicators, a service-due indicator and nothing much. For added visibility at dark, Bajaj offers backlit switches in RS200.
It has been built on a perimeter frame which is suspended on a chunky telescopic fork at front and a gas-charged mono-shock. Anchoring duties are handled by a single 300mm disc at front and a 230mm disc at rear while a safety net is provided by a dual-channel ABS as standard.
Pulsar RS200 derives its power from a 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled motor which pushes out 24.2 bhp at 9750 rpm and a peak torque of 18.7 Nm at 8000rpm. This unit is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The bike is rated to return a claimed fuel efficiency of 35 kmpl while it can clock a top speed of 141 kmph.
Upcoming Pulsar Models
The Chakan-based bikemaker is looking to expand its Pulsar range of motorcycles by introducing new models with different configurations. This includes a new bike in the quarter-litre segment.
Specimens of the bike were recently spotted testing on roads although ambiguity remains regarding the expected powertrain on offer. Some experts believe that Bajaj might offer a new 250cc air-cooled motor while logic dictates that the company could utilise the 249cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which powers Dominar 250 and KTM 250 series.
