Bajaj is reportedly planning to expand its range of Pulsar motorcycles with new 250cc models
A few days ago, a test mule of the upcoming Bajaj Pulsar 250F was caught in cameras on roads. The semi-faired sports commuter was heavily wrapped in camouflage yet we were able to comprehend a few details. Reports suggest that Bajaj is also preparing to develop both fully-faired and naked versions of a quarter-litre Pulsar.
Both models are expected to wear the RS and NS brandings respectively. Digital renders of the former have been created by SRK Designs in multiple colour options – showing the overall expected design of the faired quarter-litre superbike. The motorcycle bears an uncanny resemblance with Pulsar RS 200 although with subtle variations to distinguish both bikes.
Pulsar RS250 Rendered Design
For starters, the rendered Bajaj Pulsar RS 250cc gets a revised front end with dual-beam LED projector headlamps. The faired bodywork also sports some minor revisions with more layers to the panels.
Like Pulsar RS 200, the upcoming RS 250 could also adopt a dark theme with an appropriate amount of black shade used on side body panels, fuel tank shrouds and underbelly engine cowl. The engine casing gets a golden colour wrap along with a stubby dual-tone underbelly exhaust.

Other styling highlights are reminiscent of its smaller sibling including slightly forward-set footpegs, a tall windscreen, clip-on handlebar, upright tail section, split seat setup and rear tyre hugger. A small air scoop in the front fairing should further amplify aerodynamic qualities. The motorcycle is likely to share its engine and underpinnings with its naked sibling NS 250.
Expected Hardware
Like RS 200, the upcoming fully-faired quarter-litre Pulsar is likely to be underpinned by a perimeter frame albeit with some modifications. This frame will be suspended on upside down forks at front and an adjustable mono-shock at rear.
In comparison, the Pulsar RS 200 gets conventional telescopic forks up front. Braking hardware will comprise single disc brakes at both front and rear assisted by a dual-channel ABS as standard.

Expected Engine Specs
While the recently spotted Pulsar 250F is likely to be powered by a new 250cc single pot oil-cooled unit, RS 250 and NS 250 are expected to be powered by a 248.9cc single-cylinder air-cooled unit. This motor already performs duties on Bajaj Dominar 250, KTM 250 series and Husqvarna 250 twins- Svartpilen and Vitpilen. This engine is capable of pumping out 30 bhp and 24 Nm of peak torque. This unit will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper and assist clutch.
The upcoming RS and NS duo of the quarter-litre Pulsar is likely to be sandwiched between Pulsar 250F and Dominar 250 in Bajaj Auto’s lineup. Pulsar RS 250 will compete against Suzuki Gixxer SF250.

The Bajaj Pulsar is the company’s hot selling range in India. It accounted for a total of 9,45,978 units in FY 2021. The new Pulsar NS125 was recent added to the lineup and now the company has introduced the special Dagger Edge editions to boost sales.
Dagger Edge editions are on offer with Pulsar 150, Pulsar 180 and the Pulsar 220F in India. These special editions are set apart with exclusive livery options and new dual tone colour schemes while they include no updates in engine specs.
Bajaj Pulsar 150 Dagger Edge Edition
Bajaj Pulsar 150 Dagger Edge Edition, priced at Rs.1.02 lakhs and at Rs.1.05 lakhs for the dual disc variant, gets two matte finished colour options of Pearl White and Safire Blue.
The Pearl White colour scheme gets red accents on its mudguard rims and cowl and the Safire Blue is seen with white accents in similar places. Engine specifications remain unchanged and the BS6 compliant 149.5 cc, single cylinder engine offers 13.8 hp power at 8,000 rpm and 13.25 Nm torque at 6,500 rpm mated to a 5 speed gearbox.

The Pulsar 180 Dagger Edge edition is priced at Rs.1.10 lakhs. It gets three colour options of Pearl White, Volcanic Red and Sparkle Black Matte with accents and graphics. It continues to be powered by a 178.6 cc, single cylinder, air cooled engine that makes 16.8hp power at 8500 rpm and 14.52Nm torque at 6500 rpm mated to a 5 speed gearbox.
Bajaj Pulsar 220F Dagger Edge Edition
The new Pulsar 220F Dagger Edge edition is priced at Rs.1.28 lakhs. It gets four colour schemes of Pearl White, Sapphire Blue, Volcanic Red and Sparkle Black. Engine specs remain unchanged and the bike continues to be powered by a 220cc single cylinder motor offering 20.11 hp power at 8,500 rpm and 18.55 Nm torque at 7,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed gearbox.
Common features to each of the bikes include a sloping fuel tank, stepped up seating, a pillion grab rail and upswept exhaust. The bikes also receive a semi digital instrument console, halogen headlamp, LED tail lamp and blacked out wheels. Tank capacity is of 15 liters while the Pulsar 150, 180 and 220F command a kerb weight of 150kgs, 151kgs and 160kgs respectively.

Bajaj Pulsar domestic sales March 2021 – Pulsar 125 leads
In March, a total of 75,999 units were sold in domestic market. YoY growth is 47.70%, as compared to 51,454 units sold in March last year. However, MoM growth is negative at -6.70%, as compared to 81,454 units sold in February 2021.
Pulsar 125 is the top selling product in the range in March with sales of 41,956 units. YoY sales growth is up by 178.61%, as compared to 15,059 units sold in March last year. Percentage share in sales is at 55.21%. Pulsar 125 MoM growth is also positive at 6.70%, as compared to 39,323 units sold in February 2021.
At number two is Pulsar 150 with 19,556 units sold in March 2021. YoY growth is down by -19.54%, as compared to 24,305 units sold in March last year. Percentage share in sales is at 25.73%. Pulsar 150 MoM sales growth is also negative at -23.46%. Sales in February 2021 were higher at 25,550 units. Pulsar 150 will soon be getting two new colour options of Moon White and Matte Red. The graphics will also be updated.
Bajaj Pulsar Sales – March 2021
Combined sales of Pulsar 160, 180, and 200 is at 9,315 units in March 2021. YoY growth is 25.62%, as compared to 7,415 units sold in March last year. Share in sales is at 12.26%. MoM sales are down by -19.99%, as compared to 11,643 units sold in February 2021.
Pulsar 220F is next with sales of 5,172 units in March 2021. YoY growth is at 10.63%, as compared to 4,675 units sold in March last year. Pulsar 220F share in sales is at 6.81%. MoM growth is positive at 4.74%, as compared to 4,938 units sold in February 2021.

Pulsar exports were at 26,256 units in March, which is YoY growth of 67.05%. Exports during March last year stood at 15,717 units. Pulsar exports MoM growth is down by -14.93%, as compared to 30,863 units exported in February 2021.

In international markets, the most in demand motorcycles in March include Pulsar 160, 180 and 200. A total of 7,760 units were exported, which is YoY growth of 46.55%. 2021 Bajaj Pulsar NS125 Top Speed
As is evident in the video, NS125 has fast acceleration. According to the rider, the top speed of the bike could be 110+ kmph. However, during testing he managed to do 107 kmph.
One of the key things noted during the test ride is that the bike does not have any unwanted vibration or sound. Some vibration is natural, but it is not something that may adversely impact the ride experience. Changing gears is pretty smooth and braking performance is also good. The rider feels that Pulsar NS125 would be great for city traffic. It has agility, fast acceleration and low turning radius, all of which will be useful in traffic conditions. The bike has comfortable riding stance, making it suitable for everyday commutes. With its sporty profile and under 1 lakh pricing, NS125 will be appropriate for youngsters.
Improvement suggestions for NS125
The rider mentions that Bajaj has included a side-stand indicator with NS125. However, side stand engine cut-off feature is not available. Another thing that seems to be missing is gear position indicator.
Pulsar NS125 design and specs
The bike borrows multiple design features from its bigger siblings, NS160 and NS200. Some key features include aggressive headlamp cluster, twin pilot lamps, split grab rail, underbelly exhaust and infinity twin-strip LED tail lamps. The instrument console is the same as that of NS160. Four colour options are on offer – Burnt Red, Fiery Orange, Beach Blue and Pewter Grey.
Powering NS125 is the same 124.4cc DTS-i engine that is currently in use with Pulsar 125. It is capable of generating 11.8 ps of max power at 8500 rpm and 10.8 Nm of max torque at 6500 rpm. It is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Bajaj Pulsar NS125 has been equipped with segment-first features such as rigid perimeter frame, which ensures high stiffness. The bike has low flex that allows agile handling. Bajaj Auto Limited has extended its Pulsar lineup with the new NS 125. Launched in India at Rs.93,690 (ex-sh), this entry level sportsbike costs about Rs 15-20k more than the regular Pulsar 125 currently on sale in the country. At the same time, it is cheaper than the Duke 125 by about Rs 70k.
The new Pulsar NS 125 is offered in colour options of Beach Blue, Fiery Orange, Burnt Red and Pewter Grey while its body gets a high gloss metallic paint finish and it rides on bronze coloured alloy wheels.
Segment First Features
Several segment first features make their way onto the Pulsar NS 125. These include a rigid perimeter framework relating to added stiffness while low flex offers better handling facilities. It also receives a Nitrox mono-shock absorber aiding better stability at varying riding speed and on different road conditions.
Targeting a younger and more adventurous segment of buyers, the Pulsar NS 125 gets sporty features with a signature wolf eyed headlamp cluster with twin pilot lamps, twin strip LED tail lamps and a split grab rail. New NS 125, likes its elder sibling, gets similar styling and is heavier than the regular Pulsar 125 by around 4 kgs. It has a total kerb weight of 144 kgs. Dimensions stand at 2,012mm length, 810mm width and 1,078mm height with a 1,353mm long wheelbase. It gets ground clearance at 179mm, saddle height at 805mm and rides on 17 inch alloy wheels with the tyre size 80 section at front and 100 at the rear.
Technical Details
Bajaj Pulsar NS 125 gets its power via the same 125cc, single cylinder, air cooled, fuel injected DTS-i engine that also powers the Pulsar 125 which offers 12 PS power at 5,500 rpm and 11 Nm torque at 7,000 rpm mated to a 5 speed constant mesh gearbox. Braking is via 240mm front disc and 130mm rear drum with CBS. Suspension is via telescopic front and mono shocks at the rear.
Bajaj has been noticing huge increase in sales of Pulsar, post the launch of the 125 cc range. With the NS125, they aim to increase sales of Pulsar range even further. They aim to target young bikers who want a stylish entry level motorcycle in the 125cc segment.

It is the season of price hikes as automotive brands continue to battle shortage of parts, increase in transport cost, etc. Almost all manufacturers hike prices of all or some of their products during this period. Bajaj Auto too has decided to increase prices of Pulsar RS200.
It is to be noted that in the last round of price hikes, it was the Pulsar RS200 which did not receive any price hike. And this time, the flagship Pulsar has gotten its due price hike.
New Price April 2021
Although the latest price hike is not reflected on the company’s official website as of yet but dealer reports suggest that the faired sports bike is bound to receive a significant price increment of Rs 5,005. As per certain media reports, Pulsar RS200 will now be retailed at a price of Rs 1,57,184 (ex-showroom).
That is a substantial hike considering the bike receives no updates of any sort. Pulsar RS200 was supposed to mark the beginning of the faired lineup of Pulsar motorcycles but unfortunately, it hasn’t received an overwhelming response.

This also kept Bajaj from giving the motorcycle any significant update since its launch. Also, the price at which it has been offered makes better sense for customers to save a few bucks and settle for the Pulsar 220F.
With the latest price revision, it is now directly pitted against Yamaha YZF R15 V3.0. While the former has more horses to offer, the latter offers better control on the road and also more features. Pulsar RS200 is one quick motorcycle, probably the quickest in its segment, and we don’t have the slightest doubt. However, its on-road performance does not justify the high price it demands.
Mechanical Specifications
In its BS6 avatar, Pulsar RS200 is powered by a 199.5cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that pumps out 24.1 bhp at 9750rpm and a peak torque of 18.7 Nm at 8000rpm. This unit is coupled with a six-speed gearbox and can clock a top speed of 141 kmph. The suspension setup of the motorcycle consists of telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear. Braking duties are handled by 300mm disc at front and 230mm disc at rear respectively that are assisted by dual-channel ABS.
Features on offer
As far as features are concerned, it is offered with twin-projector LED headlamps, a semi-digital instrument console, clip-on handlebars and backlit switchgear. The instrument console reads out information from the speedometer, odometer, fuel gauge and service-due indicator. It is available in a solitary trim with three colour options- Burnt Red, Metallic Pearl White and Pewter Grey.
