Ather Bangalore Center Records Electric Scooter Sales Worth Rs 10 Cr In July 2021

Ather Electric ScooterHuge response to the Ather electric scooters has resulted in the company opening experience centers in 13 cities across India
Bengaluru based, electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Ather Energy has been seen outstanding success of their electric scooters. Following the revisions in the FAME II Scheme, prices of the scooter become cheaper by Rs 14,500 to buyers in Bengaluru and by Rs 13,500 for the Ather 450X and 450 Plus in New Delhi.
Tarun Mehta Co-Founder and CEO of Ather Energy expects electric scooter market share to be above 40% of the total scooter sales of India. And the rate at which electric scooter demand is growing, some might even consider Tarun’s target to be achieved even faster.
    Ather Bangalore Experience Center
Ather Energy has announced today that their single experience center in the city of Bangalore has generated sales of Rs 10 crores in the month of July 2021. Ather says that this is double the business done by brands which sell petrol scooters. And that too from a showroom which is half the size (in comparison to ICE scooter showroom).
Ather Energy started this calendar year with a new showroom opened in Mumbai in January 2021 followed by showrooms across Pune and Ahmedabad in February 2021. Ather Experience Centers are now located in cities of Mumbai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kochi, Jaipur, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Vizag, Calicut, Trichy, Delhi, Indore.
    Ather 450x in Pune
Ather now targets 30 new showrooms across new cities by the end of this year to span 100 cities in due course. Along with company owned showrooms, Ather is also in the process of entering into agreements with dealer partners for the sale of Ather 450X and Ather Plus e-scooters.
In FY2021 a total of 4.5 million petrol powered scooters were sold. Tarun Mehta estimates that there is potential for 1.8 million or 18 lakh electric scooters to be sold in FY2025. Earlier this year in February, Ather’s new manufacturing plant, with a production capacity of 110,000 e-scooters and 120,000 battery packs per annum, went on stream.
    Central and State Governments Support
Demand for electric vehicles surged in view of escalating fuel prices. It should be recalled that petrol prices have crossed the Rs 100 mark in most metros and is nearing that figure in other cities of India. An Ather e-scooter promises one-sixth the running cost of a petrol scooter which relates to substantial saving to the user.
Electric two wheeler popularity also increases with ongoing support from both Central and State Governments in the form of revisions in the FAME II incentive scheme. The company cites that it could be supply and not demand that will be a limiting factor in the future.
The amendment to the FAME II, (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India) introduced in June 2021 saw electric two wheeler subsidy increase to 50 percent to Rs 15,000 per kWh. This has led to a substantial price reduction of electric two wheelers.
Automakers such as Ather and TVS Motor reduced prices of the 450X and iQube respectively while Okinawa Scooters also stated that the price of the iPraise+ will cost Rs 17,892 less to a new reduced pricing of Rs.99,708. Praise Pro prices have also dipped by Rs 7,947 to Rs 76,848 while the Okinawa Ridge+ is now at Rs 61,791, down Rs 7,209 over earlier pricing.
Along with this new policy, several states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, etc have also announced EV policies that has boosted sales and successfully turned buyer sentiments towards electric vehicles. More

Ather Electric Scooter New Price Of Rs 1.07 L In Gujarat Is Its Lowest In India

Ather Electric Scooter – AhmedabadThanks to the Central FAME II policy and state EV policy, prices of all EVs in Gujarat are set to be the cheapest in the country
With the Gujarat government rolling out its new EV policy, all electric vehicle (EV) brands are set to enjoy the benefits of it. These benefits will in turn be extended in the form of reduced prices of EVs across the state. For instance, Ather has slashed prices of its electric scooters after implementing the benefits of the Gujarat EV policy.
Ather 450X, 450 Plus prices slashed
Price of its model range starts at Rs 1.07 lakh (ex-showroom) for 450 Plus. This is the lowest price tag of Ather e-scooter in India. Prior to this, price of the electric scooter was pegged at 1.25 lakh which means a deduction of Rs 18,000. Last month, prices of 450 Plus stood at 1.40 lakh, however, after implementation of FAME II policy, these prices were slashed by Rs. 14,500. All prices are ex-showroom.
On the other hand, the brand‘s premium e-scooter 450X is now priced at about Rs 1.27 lakh after a subsidy of Rs 17,000 which is in addition to the revised FAME II policy. After applying the nationwide FAME II policy, price of Ather 450X was reduced to Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom). Prior to all this, 450X was priced around Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom) varying slightly as per location.
    Gujarat EV Policy benefits
Other EV brands are also set to reduce prices of their models soon after applying the subsidy from Gujarat EV policy. This subsidy will be in addition to benefits availed under FAME II policy.
Ather electric scooters now cheapest in Gujarat
The Gujarat government recently announced that it will offer double the amount of subsidy in comparison to other states which will be applicable on a per kW basis. However, a cap has been set for all EVs. Two-wheelers can avail a subsidy of up to Rs 20,000 whereas three-wheelers get allowances up to Rs 1.5 lakh.
For four-wheelers, subsidy has been limited to Rs 2 lakh per EV. All these subsidies are in addition to the benefits offered in the FAME II scheme. Over the next four years, the government in Gujarat aims to increase the number of EVs in state up to 2,00,000 lakh units. In other incentives, EVs registered in Gujarat will not be required to pay a registration fee.
    450X, 450 Plus Specs
Both Ather 450X and 450 Plus share the same styling and features such as full-LED lighting, an apron-mounted headlight and a 4.2-inch touchscreen instrument cluster enabled with Bluetooth connectivity, integrated 4G LTE SIM connectivity, music & call controls, onboard navigation and digital document storage.
In addition, both models also get reverse mode. The e-scooters share the same hardware configurations comprising telescopic forks at front, a mono-shock at rear and disc brakes on both wheels. More

Ather 450X Electric Scooter Price Down By Rs 14.5k – New Price List

Image for reference. Credit – iGuru CrazySubsidy on electric two-wheelers has been increased by 50 percent under the FAME II scheme – up to 40 percent of total vehicle cost
Over the last one and a half year, there has been appreciable growth in the electric vehicle (EV) segment, especially for two-wheelers. With new manufacturers making an entry into India’s automotive market, the EV space has shown tremendous promise for the future.
The government of India is also doing its part to boost sales of EVs and reduce vehicular emissions by introducing FAME II (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles in India) scheme. This was done in order to extend support to the correct models amidst a gradual rise in the number of two-wheelers in the EV space.
    Revised FAME II subsidy
When introduced in 2019 by the Ministry of Heavy Industry (MHI), this policy offered benefits to models which fulfilled eligibility criteria such as a minimum range of 80km and a minimum top speed of 40kph. This scheme offered benefits of a subsidy which amounted to Rs 10,000 per kWh. Now, the government has announced an increase in subsidy by 50 percent which now amounts to Rs 15,000 per kWh for all electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrids, except buses.
Further, MHI has now capped the incentives for electric two-wheelers at 40 percent of the cost of vehicles from the older cap of 20 percent. As of now, the revised policy will be applicable to electric two-wheelers.
    Bajaj Chetak
Any further changes to the scheme will be released in the coming few days. Considering the central government’s intention to make India an electric vehicle nation by 2030 by helping the adoption of EVs, the latest revisions could also be extended to the passenger vehicle segment.
Ather 450X, 450 Plus price decrease
The increase in subsidy was immediately reflected in the prices of electric scooters. Ather Energy was the first to act upon the initiative as it slashed prices of its premiere offering 450X by Rs 14,500 as a result of this amendment. For Bangalore, Ather 450X now costs Rs 1.44 lakh and Ather Plus now costs Rs 1.25 lakhs. All prices are ex-sh.
Terming this as a phenomenal move, Tarun Mehta, CEO and co-founder of Ather Energy, added, “Sales of electric two-wheelers have grown despite the pandemic and with this additional subsidy, we expect electric two-wheeler sales to disrupt the market, and clock over 6 million units by 2025.”
MHI has also notified that it plans to go for aggregation via the Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) in order to bring the cost of electric 3-wheelers at par with IC engine 3-wheelers. EESL is said to classify demand for 3 lakh electric 3-wheelers into multiple user segments. As of now, 76,008 vehicles have been sold under the FAME II scheme. More

Upcoming Ather Electric Scooter Patent Leaks – More Range Than 450X?

Upcoming Ather Electric Scooter Sketch PatentedAther is reportedly developing a new e-scooter that will offer more range than the current 450x
Ather Energy has been among the most prominent name in recent times in the Indian automotive market when it comes to electric mobility in the two-wheeler segment. The company rolled out its first electric two-wheeler in the form Ather 450 e-scooter back in 2018 which was met with more than favourable responses.
This was followed up by two more premium and more powerful successors- 450X and 450 Plus. The Bangalore-based startup about six months ago shifted its manufacturing base from Bangalore to Hosur in Tamil Nadu in order to increase its annual production capacity. This is in line with the company’s idea of expansion with more new products.
    Expected Design
Ather has filed design patents for a new electric scooter in India. The patent image shows a scooter that appears to be larger than the existing 450X and the design is in line with contemporary Maxi-style scooters.
Signature Maxi scooter styling elements in the patent include a tall windscreen upfront and a front-heavy fairing. It gets a flat single-piece seat along with a wide front apron featuring a sleek LED headlamp.
    Upcoming Ather Electric Scooter patents
Contrary to the design of Maxi scooters, this one gets an absolutely flat floorboard and minimalist rear section. Other styling highlights include a short front fender, black alloy wheels, chiselled side body panels and a disc brake at front. Apart from the exterior design, Ather has also patented the swingarm as well as the chassis of a new electric scooter.
Obviously, this is just a patent and the final production-spec model could end up looking very different from this one. If this e-scooter does come into existence, then it is likely to be offered as a premium product with more features, improved range and more power.
    Ather 450X
Ather Energy’s current e-scooter 450X has been very well received across the Indian market. It is offered in two variants- Plus and Pro with the former being priced at Rs. 1,41,621 and the latter being pegged at a price of Rs. 1,60,633 (both prices are ex-showroom). It comes in three colour options- grey, green and white. 450X comes with a bagful of features including a Bluetooth-enabled (4.2) touchscreen instrument cluster, all LED lighting, integrated 4G LTE SIM connectivity and music & call controls among others.
As far as performance goes, the powertrain features a 2.9kWh battery pack which feeds energy to a 3.3kW electric motor rated to produce an output of 8.04 bhp and 26 Nm of torque. It can sprint 0-40 kmph in 3.3 seconds and claims a range of 85km on a single charge. Hardware configurations comprise telescopic forks at front and a rear mono-shock at rear. Braking duties are handled by single disc brakes at both ends. More
