Automotive Startup Canoo Debuts a Snub-Nosed Electric Pickup

Automotive startup Canoo has unveiled an electric truck that’s compact but has an expandable six-to-eight-foot pickup bed.
The pickup will offer over 200 miles of range and be offered with either a dual- or rear-motor configuration, the former of which putting out as much as 600 hp and 550 pound-feet of torque.
The pickup is set to go into production in 2023. By then, Canoo’s pickup will be competing alongside several other electric pickups.
Canoo, an electric automotive startup based in California, has expanded its lineup of forthcoming electric vehicles by revealing this snub-nosed pickup. The pickup, which sports a design similar to Canoo’s passenger van, will offer more than 200 miles of range and as much as 600 horsepower and 550 pound-feet of torque with the dual-motor configuration; a rear motor configuration will also be offered. That power and range, and a full six-to-eight-foot pickup bed, all have to fit into a vehicle with a 112.2-inch wheelbase—an inch shorter than the Tesla Model 3—and an overall length, at 184 inches, that makes it more than two feet shorter than the Ford Ranger pickup.

The pickup rides on Canoo’s multi-purpose platform architecture and will be the third Canoo vehicle to do so. This has become a common approach for makers of electric vehicles—using one platform for many vehicles—with the likes of General Motors and Volkswagen doing the same. In addition to Canoo’s passenger van, the startup has also revealed various multi-purpose delivery vehicles.

    Jeffludes.com/Canoo

The new pickup emphasizes modularity and looks to maximize its utility. It has tables folding down around the vehicle, various hidden storage areas, and numerous charging points on the exterior of the truck. In a video exploring the ins and outs, Tony Aquila, executive chairman of Canoo, said that the goal was to make something that was very functional and could also be personalized.

    Canoo

On either side of the six-foot bed, tables fold down to function as a workspace, and there is also a table that folds down from the front of the truck. That table exposes a small storage area as well as various points to charge or power electronics. The pickup bed can also be extended, as well as enclosed, to eight feet long to fit bigger items. Steps with storage within them can be pulled out of the sides of the truck to make it easier to access anything on the roof rack. And to answer the question any truck owner would ask, yes, there’s a taillamp setup in the bed extension, so it’s okay to drive the truck with the bed extended to fit longer cargo.

The battery pack in the pickup is designed to be repaired, replaced, and upgraded when need be, so the batteries powering the truck don’t become outdated. Canoo also designed the pickup to have steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire systems controlling the vehicle to eliminate the need for a steering column and other hardware.

The interior of the pickup, shown in the video, shows it fits two people, but Aquila said it could be adapted for a three-person setup. Information such as speed and battery levels appear to be on a broad screen just below the windshield.
Canoo’s pickup will be available for pre-order beginning in the second quarter of this year, but production isn’t slated to begin until 2023. By that time, the pickup will have considerable competition across the industry; this year alone will see the Rivian R1T and the GMC Hummer EV SUT reach driveways, and the next coming years have even more electric pickups on the way.

2022 Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer Get Audiophile-Grade Sound Systems

Audiophile darling McIntosh has built a high-end audio system exclusively for the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
The MX1375 Reference Entertainment System comes with 23 speakers, a 1375-watt amplifier, and adaptive 3D surround sound processing.
The less powerful McIntosh MX950 is available for the 2022 Wagoneer, with 19 speakers and a 950-watt amplifier.

2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer Packed with Tech

Grand Wagoneer Easter Eggs: What Made the Cut?

How the Wagoneer Stacks Up against the Competition

For audiophiles, the name McIntosh is associated with high-end home audio equipment. From receivers to tube amps to slightly odd-looking but very expensive precision turntables, finding the McIntosh name in a house means the person cares about fidelity and has the healthy bank account needed to support their love of sound. That music quality is being brought to the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer in the what McIntosh says is its very first “automotive reference system.” With over 20 speakers, a powerful amplifier, and 3D surround sound, the large luxury SUV might be the perfect vehicle for listening to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon for the 18,528th time.
This new McIntosh MX1375 Reference Entertainment System will be available exclusively in the 2022 Grand Wagoneer. McIntosh says the system has been built and tuned specifically to bring audiophile quality to the road. With 23 speakers including a 12-inch subwoofer, the system is powered by a 1375-watt amplifier that should cut through even the loudest driving environment. McIntosh notes that the system also has unique adaptive 3D surround sound processing capabilities. The MX1375 is available on the Grand Wagoneer’s top-end Obsidian and Series IIII trim levels.
Making this a reference system is a big deal for Jeep and McIntosh. Reference systems, according to McIntosh, are systems “to which all others are compared.” The idea is that the hardware is tuned in a way so that the music sounds as close to possible to what was recorded by the artists. McIntosh says that the MX1375 doesn’t just sound good, but will “transport you to the performance.”
For those looking for McIntosh audio quality in the slightly less luxe 2022 Wagoneer, the MX950 system is available on that SUV’s top Series III trim level. It’s also available on the Grand Wagoneer’s Series I and II trim levels. This less powerful system still comes with 19 custom-tuned speakers including a 10-inch subwoofer and a 950-watt amplifier. Not as impressive as the MX1375, but if McIntosh can do to vehicle sound what it’s done in home audio for decades, it will likely still make all those swirling noises found on Radiohead’s Hail to the Thief really pop.
Still, without actually hearing either of these systems in their respective vehicles, we can’t say whether or not we’re audibly transported to the performance. For that, we’ll have to wait until this summer when the 2022 Wagoneers go on sale.

2022 Honda Civic Sedan Leaked in Production Form

Leaked photos of the 2022 Honda Civic sedan have appeared on a Civic forum.
These pics, which look to be out of China, show the 11th-generation car in production form.
We expect to see the car officially revealed within the next few months.

2022 Honda Civic Hatchback Leaked in Patent Images

2022 Honda Civic Will Be More Sophisticated

We’ve seen Honda’s new Civic in spy photos, patent drawings, concept-car form, and now finally in its final production guise thanks to these leaked photos published on CivicXI.com. The images appear to show a China-market version of the 2022 Civic sedan, which features the same design seen on the Civic concept but with toned-down styling elements including smaller wheels and fewer adornments.
Even still, we think this new Civic sedan looks good, with cleaner lines than the current tenth-generation model. It’ll arrive first in the U.S. in this four-door sedan bodystyle, with the hatchback to follow and high-performance Si and Type R coming later. The two-door Civic coupe won’t return to the lineup.
There’s still a lot to learn about the 2022 Civic, such as its powertrains and available features. Honda has teased the interior layout with a photo showing an attractive, simplistic dashboard with a tablet-style infotainment screen.

    Honda

We expect Honda to share more official information about the 2022 Civic soon, as it’s expected to debut within the next few months and go on sale in the U.S. late this spring. Starting prices should stay relatively close to the current model, which starts at $22,245 for the sedan and $23,195 for the hatchback.

2022 Jeep Wagoneer Starts at $60,000, Well below Grand Wagoneer

The 2022 Jeep Wagoneer has a starting price of $59,995 for the entry-level Series I trim, and reaches $74,995 for the highest trim, Series III. The starting price of the Wagoneer is around $30,000 less than the Grand Wagoneer.
The Wagoneer comes standard with rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive can be had on the Series II and Series III trims for $3000.
Both the Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer are set to reach dealers by the second half of the year, but the Wagoneer, as well as Grand Wagoneer, will only be available in pre-configured models at launch.
The Grand Wagoneer is back, and with it, the less expensive—yet still luxurious—Wagoneer. For the base trim level, or Series I, the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer costs $59,995, and starting prices reach up to $74,995 for Series III trim, the highest trim offered on the Wagoneer. The middle trim, or Series II, costs $69,995. It’s worth mentioning that the Series I is not going to be available at launch, according to Jeep.

The price of the Wagoneer is boosted by a $2000 destination charge, a steep charge for a vehicle of this type. The Series I is the only trim that comes exclusively with rear-wheel drive. Upgrading from the standard rear-wheel drive to four-wheel drive on the Series II and Series III trims costs $3000.
Every 2022 Wagoneer has with a 5.7-liter V-8 engine that makes 392 horsepower and 404 pound-feet of torque, assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system. That engine routes power through an eight-speed transmission. A two-speed transfer case is optional, as is an electronic limited-slip rear differential.

There’s a 10.1-inch infotainment screen up front as well as a 10.3-inch screen for the instrument cluster. The seats are trimmed with nappa leather throughout, and in front they’re 12-way power seats with lumbar support. The Wagoneer can be had with second-row captain’s chairs, but the standard setup is a second-row bench seat to give the SUV seating capacity for eight.
Initially Jeep is offering the Wagoneer in seven pre-configured models: Series II Standard and Premium, each in a choice of rear- or four-wheel-drive versions; Series III Premium in rear- or four-wheel drive; and Series III Off-Road, four-wheel-drive only. The Series II Standard is the most basic of the bunch as well as the cheapest of the pre-configured models at $69,995; it comes with tri-zone climate control and 20-inch wheels. The Series II Premium comes with 22-inch wheels, a front passenger screen, and two 10.1-inch screens for the rear passengers.

The Series III Premium model comes with everything that the Series II Premium offers as well as a 19-speaker sound system and a heavy-duty trailer towing package. Finally, the Series III Off-Road model adds all-terrain tires, a two-speed transfer case, an electronic limited-slip differential, and an air suspension.
Both the Wagoneer and the Grand Wagoneer can be reserved with a $500 deposit, and most models are set to reach dealers by the second half of this year. Keep in mind that the most affordable, entry-level Wagoneer Series I won’t be available at launch. Additionally, Jeep won’t say when customers will be able to configure the Wagoneer—or the Grand Wagoneer—to their own tastes.

2022 Jeep Wagoneer/Grand Wagoneer Are Packed with Screens and Tech

2022 Jeep Wagoneer and 2022 Grand Wagoneer combine luxury leather and wood with a plethora of screens.
The Grand Cherokee can be outfitted with as many as seven screens spread across the front and second rows that Jeep says equals 75 inches of displays.
Both vehicles offer a 12.3-inch passenger screen that includes access to Amazon’s library of movies and TV shows via Fire TV for Auto.
Resurrecting a beloved SUV brand to compete in the current large luxury SUV market requires more than adding some aluminum trim to the interior, shoving a touchscreen into the dash, and calling it a day. Jeep is not only aware of this, in its goal to compete with the likes of the Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator, and Land Rover Range Rover, it’s outfitted the 2022 Jeep Wagoneer and its high-end sibling, the 2022 Grand Wagoneer, with the latest technology and more screens than a supervillain’s lair.

    Jeep

At the core of the 2022 Wagoneer and 2022 Grand Wagoneer tech experiences are screens. In addition to the digital dash cluster (10.3 inches for Wagoneer, 12.3 inches for Grand Wagoneer), there’s the requisite infotainment touchscreen that’s 10.1 inches on the Wagoneer and 12.0 inches on the Grand Wagoneer, housing the latest version of Uconnect 5. It supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Then the screens start multiplying, especially in the more expensive Grand Wagoneer. Standard on the Grand Wagoneer is an articulating 10.3-inch comfort display that sits below the main infotainment screen. It houses climate and seat controls and is similar to what we’ve seen on the 2021 Audi Q8.

Jeep Wagoneers Will Have Available Amazon Fire TV

Jeep continues the display extravaganza with an optional 10.3-inch passenger touchscreen that resides in the dash directly in front of the passenger seat; it’s available on both vehicles. With it, those riding shotgun can control navigation and media, monitor external cameras, watch video, and mirror from mobile devices. More impressive is that the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will be the first vehicles outfitted with Amazon’s Fire TV for Auto with Alexa, which Jeep says gives passengers access to Amazon’s library of thousands of movies, TV shows, and apps.

    Jeep

For second-row passengers, there is a pair of optional 10.1-inch screens that, like the passenger screen up front, support Amazon Fire TV for Auto. The video on those rear displays can be controlled by the front passenger display so that a parent can keep track of what children are watching in back. On the Grand Cherokee, an additional 10.3-inch comfort display sits between the two second-row seats giving rear passengers control over heating and air conditioning settings.
Jeep says that the potential combined area of all the screens available on the Grand Wagoneer is 75 inches. Considering how often we stare at screens outside of vehicles, Jeep is definitely on to something with its “give everyone a screen” strategy.

How Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer Are Different

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Can Cost Six Figures

As for the rest of the interior, the two vehicles exude a sort of classic Americana interior design with wood, aluminum trim, and leather throughout coupled with glowing rectangles. Both Wagoneers come standard with leather-trimmed seats. For those feeling extra fancy, Palermo leather-trimmed seats with accent stitching are available for the Grand Wagoneer.
The Wagoneer comes with 12-way adjustable front seats while the Grand Wagoneer doubles that control with 24-way power seats. Both have memory settings and lumbar support. The more luxury-oriented Grand Wagoneer also includes massage settings.

    Jeep

For those with large families or more than two friends, both vehicles are outfitted with a third row as standard. Jeep says that there’s available seating for up to eight in both vehicles. But for those hoping to add some additional comfort for rear passengers, second-row captain’s chairs are optional on the Wagoneer and standard on the Grand Wagoneer.
Anyone needing to haul groceries or gear should have enough room for most errands. Cargo space behind the third row is 27.4 cubic feet for both vehicles. Space behind the second row is 70.8 cubic feet for the Wagoneer and 70.9 for the Grand Wagoneer. For trips to hardware and warehouse stores, total cargo space behind the first row is 116.7 cubic feet and 94.2 cubic feet for the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer respectively. The Wagoneer bests the 104.6 cubic feet available in the 2021 Ford Expedition, while the Grand Wagoneer has a bit more space than 90.4 cubic feet from the 2021 BMW X7.
Overall the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer enter their market segments with interiors that are equal parts luxury and technology. For fans of screens, the Grand Wagoneer has you covered.

2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Priced Like Cadillac Escalade, Hits Six Figures

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer will come in five trim levels, ranging in price from $88,995 to $105,995, including the $2000 destination charge.
Jeep says a fully loaded Grand Wagoneer will approach $111,000.
Other full-size SUVs in this price range include the Cadillac Escalade and the upper reaches of the Mercedes-Benz GLS lineup.
The Jeep name hasn’t typically been associated with luxury, but if the forthcoming 2022 Grand Wagoneer lives up to its price tag, that could be about to change. While the Wagoneer it shares its platform with is priced to compete with the GMC Yukon and Ford Expedition, the Grand Wagoneer is priced more in line with luxury offerings such as the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, and Mercedes-Benz GLS-class.

    Jeep

The Grand Wagoneer will come in four trim levels. The Series I is the entry point for Grand Wagoneer customers, and it will cost $88,995. The Series II trim will start at $95,995. An Obsidian trim will cost $100,995. The top-of-the-line Series III will start at $105,995. Only five pre-configured models of the Grand Wagoneer will be available when the car launches in the second half of this year: one model for each of the bottom three trims and and two versions of the Series III. Jeep won’t say when customers will be able to configure their own Grand Wagoneer.

    Jeep

Given its status as the more expensive member of this family, customers can expect luxe surroundings in the Grand Wagoneer. Jeep hasn’t detailed the various trims’ standard offerings yet, but all of the five variants available at launch will have four-zone climate control, leather-trimmed seats, a 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and at least a 19-speaker McIntosh sound system. Jeep’s active drive assist system, which promises to allow hands-free driving on certain stretches of road, will be available and is included on four of the five launch models. Amazon Fire TV capability is also available on certain trims, along with two 10.1-inch entertainment screens for rear-seat passengers.
The Grand Wagoneer is available to order now for a $500 deposit, and the cars will start showing up in dealerships and the driveways of people who’ve ordered them in the second half of this year.

2022 Jeep Wagoneer vs. Grand Wagoneer: Examining the Differences

Jeep has revealed its new full-size SUV models, the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer.
The Wagoneer is the less expensive version, and the Grand Wagoneer costs more and is more luxurious.
The Wagoneer starts at $59,995 and the Grand Wagoneer starts at $88,995.
Jeep is attempting to cover a broad swath of the full-size SUV market with its new models, called Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer. But what makes the latter Grand? We’ve detailed the distinctions between the two models here, which include different powertrains, styling, interior layouts, and equipment.

2022 Jeep Wagoneers Are Massive Luxury SUVs

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Can Cost Six Figures

Why the Original Grand Wagoneer Still Looms Large

    Exterior

    Wagoneer
    Jeep

    Jeep

The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer feature the same body, but there are trim differences that give the Grand Wagoneer a slightly more premium appearance. It features a lot more chrome, a black roof, fancier-looking LED lighting accents, a different hood, and more prominent fender flares. Power-retractable running boards are standard on the Grand Wagoneer.
Both SUVs offer wheel options ranging from 18 inches to 22 inches, depending on equipment. The Grand Wagoneer also offers a few exclusive colors including Midnight Sky Blue, Rocky Mountain Green, and Ember Red.
    Interior

    Wagoneer
    Jeep

    Grand Wagoneer
    Jeep

As you’d expect, the Grand Wagoneer is more luxurious inside. Its dashboard layout is slightly different, and it offers nicer leather and wood trim compared with the Wagoneer. The Wagoneer comes standard with an eight-passenger setup with a second-row bench seat and offers captain’s chairs as an option; the Grand Wagoneer is the opposite and comes standard with the seven-passenger layout with the bench available as an option.
Optional features exclusive to the Grand Wagoneer include four-zone climate control, 24-way power seats, a McIntosh audio system with more speakers. Not only does the Grand Wagoneer offer more screens both on the dash and for rear-seat passengers, its available screens are also larger than in the Wagoneer.
    Powertrain

    Jeep

Both SUVs have V-8 engines and eight-speed automatic transmissions as standard equipment. The Wagoneer has a 5.7-liter V-8 with cylinder deactivation and a 48-volt hybrid assist that Jeep calls eTorque. It makes 392 horsepower and 404 pound-feet of torque and comes standard with rear-wheel drive. Various four-wheel-drive systems are optional. The Wagoneer is rated to tow up to 10,000 pounds when properly equipped.
The Grand Wagoneer has a significantly more powerful 6.4-liter V-8 with 471 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. It also features cylinder deactivation technology and comes standard with four-wheel drive. Jeep claims it gets to 60 mph in 6.0 seconds. Despite its more powerful engine, the Grand Wagoneer’s tow rating is slightly lower, at 9860 pounds.
    Price

    View Photos

    Jeep

Everything we’ve detailed so far suggests that the Grand Wagoneer is the more expensive of the two. Indeed, it starts at $88,995, a significant $29,000 higher than the Wagoneer’s starting price of $59,995. Although Jeep has yet to release full option pricing, we doubt that the Wagoneer will go into six-figure territory when fully loaded. The Grand Wagoneer’s most expensive trim level, however, starts at $109,980, and that’s before any optional extras.

How 2022 Jeep Wagoneer Compares to Escalade, Navigator, GLS, and Others

We compare the Jeep Wagoneer with the full-size SUV competition.
Models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLS, Lincoln Navigator, and Cadillac Escalade are in its crosshairs.
The Jeep lineup includes the standard Wagoneer and the more luxurious Grand Wagoneer.
Jeep’s 2022 Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are two flavors of the same vehicle, but their pricing and specs make them more like two separate model lineups. In GM terms, they’re the equivalent of the GMC Yukon Denali and the Cadillac Escalade. In the Ford universe, one of these is a fancy Expedition and the other a Navigator. But for Jeep, Wagoneer is destined to become its own sub-brand, so the more Wagoneers the better. Thus, regular flavor and Grand.

2022 Jeep Wagoneers Are Massive Luxury SUVs

How Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer Are Different

Why the Original Grand Wagoneer Still Looms Large

The most basic Wagoneer, a 4×4 Series I (interesting how they cribbed Land Rover’s old naming strategy there) costs $59,995, but there’s a catch: You can’t get one. At least, not yet. For now, the realistic low end of the lineup is the $69,995 Wagoneer Series II, which at that price still doesn’t include four-wheel drive. You want a 4×4, you’re talking $72,995 and the price goes up from there—up to $105,995 for a Grand Wagoneer Series III, with the transition from Wagoneer to Grand Wagoneer happening in the upper $80,000 range. So you can see that the aspirations here are toward the high end. And the Wagoneer, in either form, looks like it has the goods to hang with that crowd.

    Jeep

The base engine is a 5.7-liter V-8 with the eTorque electric starter-generator, making 392 horsepower and 404 pound-feet of torque. The Grand Wagoneer gets a 6.4-liter V-8 with 471 horsepower and 455 pound-feet of torque. Both are paired with the ZF eight-speed automatic. Neither engine is particularly novel in the context of upper-echelon SUVs, where turbo V-6s, turbo V-8s, and diesels are the coin of the realm, but they do make good power. And a pushrod V-8 soundtrack will certainly fire the wood-paneled Wagoneer nostalgia. But the $100,000 price point brings sophisticated competition like the Mercedes-Benz GLS580 and its 483-hp twin-turbo V-8, and the Land Rover Defender 110, which packs a supercharged 518-hp V-8.

2022 Jeep Wagoneer Starts at $60K, Reaches $75K

The 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer Can Cost Six Figures

At its lower price points, the Wagoneer powertrain is more competitive: the base engine makes a little less horsepower than the V-8 in an Infiniti QX80, while the 6.4-liter makes a little more horsepower than the twin-turbo V-6 in the Lincoln Navigator. Fuel economy hasn’t been announced, but we can’t imagine it’ll beat many too many competitors there, given the combination of an estimated three-ton-plus curb weight, big naturally aspirated V-8s, and full-time four-wheel-drive in 4×4 models.
One place where the Wagoneer powertrain definitely excels is towing: Wagoneers with the 5.7-liter can tow 10,000 pounds, with the 6.4 earning a very slightly lower rating (9860 pounds, thus keeping a lid on gross combined vehicle weight in the heavier 6.4-liter models). Either Wagoneer tow rating beats the Cadillac Escalade (8200-pound max), the QX80 (8500 pounds) and even the Ford Expedition with the heavy-duty trailer towing package (9300 pounds). The Wagoneer will be a happy beast of burden.
It should also be a beast off-road, particularly in Wagoneer Series III Off-Road trim. That iteration gets all-terrain tires, a two-speed transfer case with low range, an electronic limited-slip rear differential, height-adjustable air suspension (which delivers 10.0 inches of ground clearance), and a full suite of skid plates. That model is $88,665, meaning that it’s significantly more expensive than the $66,095 GMC Yukon AT4—which offers similar equipment—but right about on par with a well-optioned Land Rover Defender 110 X. We smell a comparison test.
So, how big is this new Jeep? It can be hard to judge a vehicle’s size from photos alone, so let’s frame the Wagoneer in terms of known quantities. With a 123-inch wheelbase and 214.7-inch overall length, the Wagoneer is a little bit longer than an Escalade (120.9 inches vs. 211 inches) but much shorter than the 226.9-inch Escalade ESV. Compared to what we might deem a tidy three-row, the Benz GLS, the Wagoneer is massive: cargo volume for the GLS behind the front seats is 84.7 cubic feet, compared to the Wagoneer’s 116.7 cubic feet. Which is also a few cubes more than you can squeeze into an Escalade. Generally speaking, “a little bigger than an Escalade” is an apt descriptor of the giganto-Jeep. While the Range Rover might entice some Grand Wagoneer buyers (and vice versa), the Jeep’s old foil from the 1980s is, in contemporary form, a much smaller machine.

Since we haven’t yet driven the Wagoneer, we can’t comment on how it rides or sounds or handles a two-foot-deep mud wallow, but we can point out a few creative features that help distinguish it in a crowded market. For instance, the Grand Wagoneer’s 10.3-inch passenger-side “co-pilot” screen is very cool and will surely soon be copied. Its range-topping McIntosh sound system includes 23 speakers, a 1375-watt amp and a 12-inch subwoofer—and, importantly for audio snobs, the cool blue McIntosh analog needle display. And the dealer experience promises to make owners feel properly sucked-up-to, even after the deal is done: Wagoneer Client Services includes five years of maintenance and 24/7 concierge support. And you won’t buy a Wagoneer from a Jeep salesperson—you’ll deal with a Certified Wagoneer Ambassador who has completed more than 90 hours of training. Since that training no doubt includes learning about the Wagoneer’s history, you might also call these people AMC Ambassadors.
From what we know so far, the Wagoneer looks like a big lavish brute, with its sights set primarily on the Escalade and Navigator but also ready to take a swing at Range Rover, Benz, and BMW on the high end and Chevy, GMC, and Ford on the lower end. On paper, it looks primed to become an instant favorite. The full-size SUV competitors have enjoyed a Wagoneer-free market since 1991. That’s about to change.
