      Just yesterday, Tata Motors announced prices for all RWD variants of Harrier EV and today, we get the Bharat NCAP’s assessment results of Harrier EV’s crashworthiness. At this point of time, Tata Motors has become synonymous with vehicular safety and Harrier EV further accentuates that as it scores a full-fat 5 Star rating in Bharat NCAP crash tests.

      Harrier EV is the company’s flagship electric SUV and it leaves no stones unturned where vehicular safety is concerned. Positioned on the acti.ev platform, Harrier EV is built from the ground up as an electric vehicle even though it shares its top hat with Harrier ICE. Bharat NCAP’s rigorous crash safety assessment puts Harrier EV’s crashworthiness to the test.

      As revealed by Bharat NCAP, the tested variant was Harrier EV Empowered 75 kWh and Empowered 75 kWh AWD (QWD as per Tata). It is a two-row SUV with maximum seating capacity of five occupants. The weight of crash tested vehicle was rated at 2,574 kg and these ratings are applicable to all variants of Harrier EV.

      5 Star Ratings
      Speaking of ratings, Harrier EV has scored 5 Star rating in both Adult Occupant Protection and Child Occupant Protection tests. Harrier EV comes with front and side airbags as standard along with ESC (Electronic Stability Control), seat belt reminders on all seats, belt pretensioners and load limiters on front seats and ISOFIX child seat mounts in the rear.

      In Adult Occupant Protection tests, Harrier EV scored 32 / 32 points as it secured 16 / 16 points in both frontal offset deformable barrier test and side movable deformable barrier test. All the assessment points of a human body in front seats showed ‘Good’ protection with Green zones all the way.

      In Child Occupant Protection tests, Harrier EV scored 45 / 49 points as it secured 24 / 24 points in dynamic score, 12 / 12 points in CRS installation score and 9 / 13 points in vehicle assessment score.       Demonstrating strong confidence in the Indian market, Vinfast has committed an investment of USD 2 billion. Production is set to commence in July at the company’s plant in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu. Vinfast will start with the VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs, which will be launched later this year. Ahead of that, these SUVs have been showcased at a Chennai mall, as seen in pictures from automotive enthusiast Manoj Prabakaran. Let’s check out the details.
      Vinfast VF 6 – Key features, specs
      Details about the Vinfast VF 6 for the Indian market haven’t been revealed. However, it is likely to be a close match with the Vinfast VF 6 sold in other Asian markets. Vinfast VF 6 in Vietnam is available in two variants VF 6 Eco and VF 6 Plus. Dimensionally, the crossover SUV is 4,241 mm in length.

      Both variants utilize a 59.6 kWh battery pack, offering a range of 480 km (Eco) and 460 km (Plus), respectively (NEDC). Power and torque output is 130 kW (177 PS) / 250 Nm (Eco) and 150 kW (204 PS) / 310 Nm (Plus). A number of features are common for both VF 6 and VF 7. For example, users can access drive modes of Eco, Normal and Sport. Both variants have sporty LED lighting.

      Also common are features like a head-up display (HUD), 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, artificial leather upholstery and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Many safety features are also common across VF 6 and VF 7. It includes traction control, ESC, hill start assist, blind spot warning, tyre pressure monitoring system. Also, traffic sign recognition, lane keeping assist, automatic emergency braking and 360° camera.

      Vinfast VF 7 – Key features, specs
      VF 7 is larger (as available in Vietnam), measuring 4,545 in length and having a wheelbase of 2,840 mm. Three variants are on offer – Eco, Plus and Plus AWD. While the Eco variant has a 59.6 kWh battery pack, the other two are equipped with a larger 75.6 kWh battery pack. Range is 498 km with the Eco and 496 km with the VF 7 Plus AWD variant (NEDC). Vinfast will reveal the range of the Plus variant at a later date.

      VF 7 Eco variant generates 130 kW (177 PS) and 250 Nm of torque. In comparison, the VF 7 Plus variant has output of 150 kW (204 PS) / 310 Nm. For best performance, users can choose the Plus AWD variant of VF 7, which generates 260 kW (354 PS) and 500 Nm of peak torque.

      Key features of Vinfast VF 7 include electric foldable and adjustable ORVMs, auto dimming IRVM, fine dust filter, rear AC vents and 8-speaker sound system. VF 7 has smart control features such as geofencing, operating time limits, online entertainment, navigation, OTA updates, voice commands, virtual assistant and gaming options.

      Pricing will be one of the key factors that will determine Vinfast’s success in the Indian EV market. In Vietnam, the Vinfast VF 6 is available at a starting price of 689,000,000 VND or Rs 22.72 lakh. The Vinfast VF 7 starts at 799,000,000 VND, which is approximately Rs 26.35 lakh.

      Hyundai Elexio EV Specs Leaked – Dual Motors, 312 bhp, 700 km Range

      Hyundai Elexio EV Specs LeakedScheduled for launch exclusively in China in Q3 CY2025, Hyundai Elexio could be offered at a starting price of 140,000 yuan (approx. Rs 16.88 lakh)
      Aiming to make a strong comeback in the Chinese EV market, Hyundai is planning to launch multiple new models including BEVs, PHEVs and EREVs. These will be manufactured by Beijing Hyundai, a joint venture between Hyundai and Chinese state-owned automobile manufacturer BAIC. Both entities have collectively allocated an investment war chest of $1.1 billion to bolster EV development and tackle rivals like BYD, Tesla, NIO and XPeng.
      One of the upcoming products is the Hyundai Elexio electric SUV, which had made its global debut in May 2025. Now, with the homologation and sales license applications filed in China, some of the key specs have been published on China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) website. Let’s check out the details.
      Hyundai Elexio EV For China
      Hyundai Elexio EV – Performance, range
      In March 2025, a mysterious Hyundai EV was teased which was speculated to be China-exclusive Ioniq 4, based on Kia EV5. However, it was revealed as Hyundai Elexio, which will be based on Hyundai’s advanced E-GMP (Electric-Global Modular Platform) with 800-volt architecture. As per the information posted on MIIT website, Hyundai Elexio will be available in two variants.
      One of these will be a front-wheel drive variant, equipped with a single EM16 motor installed on the front axle. Max power output is 160 kW (218 PS). The other variant will have an all-wheel drive setup. In addition to the 160-kW motor at the front, it will have a 73 kW (99 PS) motor mounted on the rear axle. Combined power output will be 233 kW (317 PS). Top speed of both variants is capped at 185 km/h.

      While battery capacity details have not been revealed, it is possible that Hyundai Elexio could use a 101.7 kWh battery pack. In that case, it will be the second largest battery pack for a Hyundai electric car. As of now, Hyundai Ioniq 9 has the largest battery pack of 110.3?kWh among all models.
      Information available on MIIT website shows that Hyundai Elexio will be using a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. It will be sourced from FinDream, a subsidiary of BYD. Hyundai had earlier stated that the Elexio electric SUV will have a range of 700 km (CLTC standards). This will be around 570 km, when measured as per WLTP standards. Real-world range of Hyundai Elexio is expected to be around 500 to 550 km.

      Dimensionally, the Hyundai Elexio is 4,615 mm tall, 1,875 mm wide, 1,673 mm tall and has a wheelbase of 2,750 mm. Kerb weight of the front wheel drive variant and the all-wheel drive variant is 2039 kg and 2184 kg, respectively.
      Hyundai Elexio – Styling and features
      One can notice a dynamic mix of sportiness, classic SUV design and family-oriented vibes. Standout features include the four-point pixel lighting elements. Four on each side, the total, number 8, is considered a sign of good fortune in China. Other features include a closed-off grille, prominent bumper, squarish wheel arches, sporty aero alloy wheels, blacked-out pillars and flush door handles.

      Hyundai Elexio EV has features like a panoramic sunroof, roof rack, multiple cameras and front and rear radar. Inside, the SUV is expected to get an advanced touchscreen infotainment system, powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. Other highlights include a head-up display (HUD), voice commands and smart assistant.
      Hyundai Elexio could be launched in China at a starting price of around 140,000 yuan (Rs 16.88 lakh). While initially catering to the Chinese market, export opportunities can be considered at a later date.       Bookings for the Harrier EV will commence from 2nd July 2025, while prices for the Quad Wheel Drive (QWD) variants will be announced separately on 27th June. The prices revealed today are for the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) versions.

      Production Constraints and Ramp-Up Plan
      Due to global supply disruptions, especially related to rare earth mineral exports from China, Maruti has revised its production target from 26,512 to around 8,221 units between April and September 2025. However, production is expected to ramp up significantly from October, aiming to hit 67,000 units by March 2026.

      Tata Harrier EV vs XEV 9e – Specs, Features, Size Compared

Both vehicles are quite comparable in size and pack a futuristic set of features and creature comforts. Let’s take a look at how these vehicles differ in terms of specs, features and size on paper.

      Let us start with pricing of Tata Harrier EV and Mahindra XEV 9e, where the former has a clear edge. Harrier EV prices start from Rs 21.49 lakh (Ex-sh) for the base Adventure trim, while base Mahindra XEV 9e Pack One starts from 21.9 lakh (Ex-sh) and goes till Rs 30.5 lakh (Ex-sh). Prices for Harrier EV’s top trim levels are yet to be revealed.
      It has to be noted that Harrier EV offers a 65 kWh battery with base model, while it is only 59 kWh with XEV 9e’s base variant. With their top trims, XEV 9e has an advantage as it offers 79 kWh battery where Harrier EV tops out at 75 kWh. With a larger battery and larger size, XEV 9e claims 656 km range and Harrier EV claims 627 km. Both promise around 500 km real world range.
      Tata Harrier EV vs XEV 9e – Specs
      Where performance is concerned, Harrier EV has an edge as it can sprint to 100 km/h in just 6.2s, while it takes 6.8s with XEV 9e. Both are RWD as standard, but Harrier EV is the first Indian EV to offer a dual-motor QWD setup with higher trims with off-roading capability. Interestingly, Tata does not disclose peak system power with this setup but peak system torque is 504 Nm. XEV 9e tops out at 282 bhp and 380 Nm.
      DC charging is up to 175 kW with XEV 9e and up to 125 kW with Harrier EV, whereas AC charging top out at 7.2 kW with Harrier EV, where XEV 9e offers a faster 11.2 kW unit. Also, it has to be noted that only the XEV 9e has crash tested with a 5 Star rating, but Harrier EV is yet to be tested. However, given Tata’s track record with crash ratings, one could expect Harrier EV to score full fat 5 Stars.
      Dimensions & Design
      Where dimensions are concerned, it is quite clear that Mahindra XEV 9e is a longer vehicle by a considerable margin. However, Harrier EV is wider and taller, which lends it a much-needed gangsta look. When viewing from the front or rear, Harrier EV looks more substantial, while XEV 9e definitely looks larger from the side profile. Longer length ensures a longer wheelbase with XEV 9e which also translates to more legroom on the inside.
      Tata Harrier EV vs XEV 9e – Dimensions
      Harrier EV has smaller 502L boot space and up to 67L frunk. XEV 9e on the other hand, has a larger 663L boot and a 150L frunk. However, Harrier EV has a digital IRVM feature that allows you to load your luggage to the roof, while still offering rear view with the help of a camera positioned in its shark fin antenna. Both vehicles have almost similar ground clearance, but XEV 9e offers 19-inch wheels as standard. Harrier EV base variants start from 18-inchers. Also, XEV 9e offers an option to choose 20-inch wheels which is just absent with Harrier EV.
      Features & Creature Comforts
      Where features and creature comforts are concerned, both Harrier EV and XEV 9e blow a lot of punches. However, Harrier EV seems to blow more punches on paper. That’s because it has a panoramic sunroof that opens, a digital key feature, a digital IRVM with DVR function, a QLED screen with inky blacks for immersive visuals, electrically operated Boss Mode, winged headrest, Transparent Mode with 540-degree view and more.
      XEV 9e blows quite a few punches too as it has a triple screen layout, which is quite unique. Also, the instrument cluster is larger at 12.3-inches and a functional HUD with comprehensive features and BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) facility for rear occupants. XEV 9e offers a 1400W 16-speaker Harman Kardon music system with Dolby Atmos support. Common features between both are ADAS, self park, summon mode, ventilated front seats, memory function for driver’s seat, independent rear suspension and more.
      Tata Harrier EV vs XEV 9e – Features
      Choosing between Tata Harrier EV and XEV 9e is likely to come down to their design and not spec sheets and comparison tables. While XEV 9e is a handsome machine in isolation, it looks quite overdesigned when compared to Harrier EV. Where off-roading is concerned, Harrier EV is the only one to offer QWD setup with Terrain Response Modes. It will be interesting to see sales figures of both these vehicles once Harrier EV goes on sale.

      Kia is developing a strong lineup of BEVs for global markets, with the EV2 being one of them. After the EV2 concept version was unveiled earlier this year in February, test vehicles in production-ready format have been spotted in recent weeks. Latest sighting is from Kia’s home market South Korea. Let’s check out the details.

      Based on Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design language, Kia EV2 has a dynamic blend of rugged aesthetics and refined urban styling. Expected to be around 4 meters in length, Kia EV2 has a boxy profile with a slightly sloping roofline. One of the standout features seen with the concept model was an open lamp design for the LED DRLs.

      Due to heavy camouflage, it is difficult to tell if the same design for the DRLs is carried forward with the production version. Slight variations could be possible to suit practical, everyday needs. Compact yet confident, the Kia EV2 makes a bold statement on the road. Making it possible are features like an upright front fascia, rugged bumper, prominent wheel arches and thick body cladding.
      As compared to the concept model, there are some changes to the test vehicle spotted recently.       Kia EV2 – Performance, range
      As compared to Kia EV6 and EV9 that use an 800-volt E-GMP architecture, Kia EV2 will be using a 400-volt system. This more cost-effective setup will also be used with other compact electric cars such as Kia EV3. It supports Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) and Nickel Manganese Cobalt (NMC) battery chemistries. Two battery pack options are expected to be offered, with a max range of around 450-500 km.

      To achieve a competitive price point, Kia EV2 will be getting a single front-axle mounted electric motor. Global launch is scheduled for February 2026, with Europe being one of the key markets. For European markets, Kia EV2 will be manufactured at the company’s plant in Slovakia. Launch price in Europe is expected around €25,000 (Rs 24.88 lakh).
