    Isuzu D-Max EV Debuts – 190 PS, 325 Nm, 4X4, 263km Range

Isuzu D-Max EV DebutsWhile running on electric power, Isuzu D-Max EV retains the robust loading, towing and off-roading capabilities of the ICE model
Earlier this year, Isuzu had showcased the D-Max EV concept at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo. Isuzu has now unveiled the production version of the fully electric D-Max at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show (CV Show), held at NEC Birmingham. Launch is expected in European markets later this year. Let’s explore some of the key highlights of the Isuzu D-Max EV.
Isuzu D-Max EV Debuts – Styling and features
Exteriors of D-Max EV closely match the styling used with the ICE counterpart. The concept version was showcased with a closed-off grille design, fresh detailing for the lighting elements and a refreshed bumper section. Sportier dual-tone alloy wheels were also seen with the concept. However, the production model showcased in Birmingham has largely the same design elements seen with the existing ICE D-Max.
    Isuzu D-Max EV
The electrified model uses a tweaked version of the robust D-Max platform. D-Max EV will be offered in two trims, which are based on the existing D-Max DL40 and V-Cross diesel variants. Both extended cab and double cab options will be available with the electrified D-Max.
    Performance, range, specs
Power is derived from a 66.9 kWh high-performance lithium-ion battery pack. The advanced electric drivetrain ensures that the electric D-Max delivers the same heavy-duty performance as its diesel-powered counterpart. With dual motors, combined power output is 140 kW / 190 PS (58 PS front and 132 PS rear). Torque output is 325 Nm (108 Nm front and 217 Nm rear). This is comparable to the 164 hp / 360 Nm, 1.9-litre turbo diesel engine available with existing D-Max. Powertrain options for ICE D-Max vary based on the market.
    Isuzu D-Max EV
Talking about the electric D-Max, 0 to 100 km/h is achievable in 10.1 seconds. Top speed is rated at 128+ km/h. Range is 263 km, as per WLTP standards. Isuzu D-Max EV is available in a 4×4 configuration, with a payload capacity of 1 ton and a towing capacity of 3.5 tons. It has zero emissions and comes with Eco Mode to boost range. Advanced regenerative braking also helps improve range.
Off-roading capabilities are pretty robust, which ensures that D-Max EV can easily tackle various types of challenging terrains. The pickup has a ground clearance of 210 mm and water wading capability of up to 600 mm. Approach and departure angles are also quite impressive at 30.5° and 24.2°, respectively. For handling extreme terrains, users can choose the Rough Terrain Mode.
    Isuzu D-Max EV
    Enhanced cabin experience
D-Max EV also brings enhanced ride quality, making journeys more comfortable for users. Upgrades making it possible include an all-new De-Dion rear suspension. This unlocks improved handling in comparison to the traditional leaf spring suspension setup. Isuzu has introduced various other tweaks to enhance cabin experience. Users can expect reduced cabin noise and vibrations by up to 10% at high revs.
Passenger safety has been improved with new additions to the ADAS kit. Users can access premium features such as Isuzu’s latest high-resolution touchscreen infotainment system and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Battery warranty of 8 years / 1.60 lakh km effectively takes care of worries related to battery maintenance or replacement costs.
    Isuzu D-Max EV
Isuzu has already commenced production of the D-Max EV at its plant in Thailand. D-Max EV is expected to be available for sale across multiple global locations later this year. Launch in India could be possible, but an exact timeline is not available. More

Amazon Backed Slate Electric SUV, Pickup Truck Unveiled Before Launch

Slate Electric SUV, Pickup TruckDo you think cars have gotten more expensive in the recent past than they used to be? This is a universal question and not just limited to the Indian market. Slate Auto is on a mission to address this question with its maiden vehicle, an electric pickup truck, that can be modded extensively for a unique persona. Backed by billionaire and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, Slate is poised to redefine mobility. Let’s take a closer look.
Amazon Backed Electric SUV – Slate EV
Slate Auto is an electric mobility startup based out of USA. The company’s core ethos is to offer affordable mobility solutions to buyers in a world where vehicle prices are skyrocketing. In that regard, Slate’s maiden vehicle, an electric pickup truck, is expected to start from USD 25,000 (approx Rs 21.33 lakh), which is lower than any EV sold in USA. Let alone versatile pickup trucks.
    Slate Electric SUV, Pickup Truck
With affordability as its key strength, Slate Auto aims to build its brand to appeal to young buyers. The company has commenced bookings for this electric pickup truck with a USD 50 (approx Rs 4,300) deposit, which is refundable. Deliveries are slated to happen in last quarter of 2026. It packs a silhouette of a boxy 2-door single cab pickup truck that can be converted into a 2-door SUV.
It measures 4,445 mm in length, 1,803 mm in width and 1,752 mm in height. Kerb weight is around 1,632 kg depending upon the accessories, it has a 650 kg payload capacity and a towing capacity of 454 kg. This makes it smaller than the smallest conventional pickup truck that is offered in USA like Ford Maverick and even the Hyundai Santa Fe.
    Slate Electric SUV, Pickup Truck
The base ‘Blank Slate’ offered at USD 25,000 comes equipped with a 52.7 kWh battery pack, supplied by Korean brand SK-On, promising 150 miles (241 km). A larger 84.3 kWh battery promises 240 miles (386 km). Both versions will be powered by a sole 150 kW motor (201 bhp) and drive the rear wheels only. No 4WD. Black Slate comes with 11kW onboard AC charger and is compatible with 120 kW DC chargers too.
    Equipment on offer
Because Slate Auto is establishing itself as a budget-conscious offering, there will be a sole trim level and a single colour. The company has saved up to USD 500 million (Rs 4,266 Cr) just by eliminating variants and streamlining production process with a scale of up to 1,50,000 vehicles per annum.
    Slate Electric SUV, Pickup Truck
People who want more can opt for bundled kits and individual accessories to “pimp their ride” offering both DIY or dealer options. Buyers can convert Blank Slate into a 2-door fastback SUV or a 2-door 5-seat SUV with kits that get built-in airbags into their roll cage and other paraphernalia.

Vinfast India Plant To Open By June 2025

VF 7 from VinfastLeading Vietnamese electric car manufacturer, Vinfast, has been eyeing Indian car market for some time. The company is building its dedicated facility at Thoothukudi in Tamil Nadu, India. This facility will start operations by June 2025, as revealed by CEO Pham Nhat Vuong. Let’s take a closer look.
    Vinfast Accelerates India Operations
As part of its latest strategies, Vinfast is shifting focus away from North American market and its associated uncertainties. Till the dust settles down in North America by the ongoing trade war, Vinfast is spearheading into major Asian markets like Indonesia and Philippines. In that regard, Vinfast is set to open its plant in India by June 2025 and in Indonesia by October 2025.
Owing to high logistics fees, Vinfast is deterring its advances in markets like USA, Canada and the European Union. The company is currently investing around USD 4 billion (Rs 34,233 Cr) in their manufacturing facility in North Carolina, USA. However, the advancements in US market have been delayed by up to three years to 2028.
The company is waiting for the right time and right signals to continue onwards with North Carolina plant. In the meantime, operations in India, Indonesia and Philippines have been sharpened and the company hopes to open its Thoothukudi plant by July 2025. A groundbreaking ceremony took place in February 2024.
    VF 6 from Vinfast
This is a USD 2 billion (Rs 17,112 Cr) project and the company has pledged USD 500 million (Rs 4,277 Cr) for the first five years of this project. This facility is touted to have an annual production capacity of 1,50,000 cars. The plant in Indonesia is said to go operational in October 2025 and it will have an annual production capacity of 2,00,000 units.
    What to expect?
For Indian market, Vinfast will commence its operations by launching premium vehicles like VF 6 and VF 7. There will be more electric vehicles from Vinfast in India down the line. Vinfast VF e34 has been spied multiple times and smaller vehicles like VF 3 have been trademarked in India as well.
Recently, two Vinfast VF 7 electric vehicles were spied on in Pune city without any camouflage. These were spotted on the back of flatbed pickup trucks, which could indicate that they’re heading towards ARAI facility for homologation procedures. Launch of VF 6 and VF 7 is likely to happen soon.
