MG Select Premium Dealer NetworkRiding on the wave of success generated by electric vehicles, JSW MG Motor India is now expanding its portfolio to incorporate two premium vehicles – Cyberster and M9. These vehicles will be sold via dedicated MG Select dealerships and are expected to be priced competitively. MG has commenced pre-bookings for both these vehicles. Let’s take a closer look.
MG Cyberster and M9 Pre-Bookings Open
Through their MG Select dealerships, JSW MG Motor India is poised to launch two premium electric vehicles in India. Pre-bookings for MG Cyberster electric Roadster and M9 electric luxury MPV have commenced for a token amount of Rs 51,000. Prospective buyers can reserve a Cyberster or M9 via company’s official website or via offline channels.
Official launch for both these vehicles will happen soon and deliveries are expected to start in Q2 2025. MG Cyberster and M9 will be offered in as many as thirteen major cities in India. These include Mumbai, Thane, Pune, Delhi, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Kochi and Surat.
Pricing is not revealed yet and both Cyberster and M9 are expected to bear competitive prices. In India, they will enjoy quite a niche as we don’t have an all electric 2-door Roadster with scissor doors under the Rs 1 Cr mark. Where luxury MPVs are concerned, none of the ones sold in India are fully electric.
    MG Cyberster Sets Record
    Cyberster
MG’s new Cyberster is poised to create a grand spectacle in the Indian market. The company claims it is the fastest MG Roadster ever and it just set a record at Sambhar Salt Lake in Rajasthan accelerating to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds. It is a 2-door convertible Roadster with fancy scissor doors and large 20-inch alloy wheels.
Performance ceiling on this vehicle is quite high as it gets an electrifying instant throttle response. The dual motors on MG Cyberster generate a total system output of 510 bhp of peak power and 725 Nm of peak torque. These motors are fed by a 77 kWh battery pack that will promise a range of around 500 km on a single charge.
    M9
Catering to the discerning chauffeur-driven customers, MG M9 aims to offer a sophisticated luxury experience. It is a large and roomy electric MPV which creates a bubble of luxury and comfort for 2nd-row passengers. The most important seats of this car, if you may. The powered sliding doors create quite an opening to aid in ingress and egress.
    MG M9 MPV
Notable features include heated ORVMs with memory function, multi-zone climate control, ventilated seats that also offer massage function, sophisticated ambient lighting, 12-speaker premium audio system, air purifier, rear privacy glass, Level-2 ADAS and more. Powered by a 90 kWh battery, it promises to deliver 430 km of range and is propelled by a 240 bhp and 350 Nm electric motor. More

Hyundai Insteroid Concept Teased With Wild Design – Inster EV On Steroids!

Hyundai Insteroid ConceptAround the middle of 2024, Hyundai launched Inster electric crossover and early this year, the company even launched a more adventurous-looking Inster Cross. Now, Hyundai has just teased the Insteroid Concept and it is an Inster on Steroids. This is a one-off concept that the company will soon unveil and it deserves your attention as it looks straight out of a Cyberpunk world.
    Hyundai Insteroid Concept Teased
Small electric crossovers are quite common these days. Many brands are trying their hand in this genre. Hyundai has the Inster, which is an electric version of its small crossover SUV, Casper. When Hyundai launched Inster Cross, a slightly rudded-looking version of Inster, no one would have thought an Inster’s design could go any wilder than that.
    Hyundai Insteroid
Hyundai is proving them wrong with Insteroid Concept. If this name is ringing any bells in you. Yes, it quite literally means an Inster on Steroids. The name is quite literal and befitting this concept and it is one of the wildest car designs we have seen lately. It doesn’t look anything like an Inster and at the same time, is instantly identifiable as an Inster, which is a weird statement to make.
    Hyundai Insteroid Rear Wing
With Insteroid, Hyundai is demonstrating that they are not just about money making formulas and are willing to extract fun quotient in vehicular design. We have seen quite a few concepts from Hyundai where the company has just worked on making a cool looking car. With Insteroid Concept, Hyundai seems to have taken some inspiration from i20 WRC Racer.
    Hyundai Insteroid Flared Wheel Arches
    Inster EV On Steroids!
While the pictures are blurry and dark, we can still understand the gravity of wildness this design is carrying. We can see a massive front bumper which protrudes outwards quite a bit. There’s no separate DRLs like Inster EV, but we have circular LED headlights with engulfing LED DRL signature. Bonnet has a large scoop which lends a lot of muscle.
    Hyundai Insteroid Rear Wing
Speaking of, the most amount of muscle Insteroid Concept has received is in the form of its flared wheel arches. These wheel arches are filled by large aero disc wheels wrapped with fat tyres. At the rear, we can see that Insteroid gets a large new bumper along with Pixel-design LED tail lights along with circular LED signatures like that at the front.
    [embedded content]
While we are at the rear, we have to address the elephant in this room, which is its ginormous roof spoiler. The teaser also shows Orange highlights along with a stripped out interior which is then populated by a roll cage. Hyundai is referring to Insteroid as a glitch in the car industry and it is not likely to pack the same powertrain as a standard Inster EV. Hyundai has not revealed whether it will be launched or it is just a celebration of their design direction. More

BYD Launches 1,000 Volt Super E-Platform – 5 Minute Charging To Give 400 Kms Range

BYD Launches 1,000 Vold Super E-PlatformBYD’s Super E-Platform 1000 Kw charging speeds will be two times faster as compared to Tesla’s TSLA.O that offers 500 kW charging speed
In a live streamed event held at the BYD headquarters in Shenzhen, founder Wang Chuanfu has announced Super E-Platform. This new charging platform supports quicker charging of 1,000 kW (1 MW), thereby allowing cars to travel upto 400 km (249 miles) on 5 minute charge. This means for every 1 second on charge, the vehicle will get over 1 km of range.
With expansive adoption of electric vehicles, charging time needs to be reduced drastically. The new fast charging technology from BYD will ensure that EV owners spend as much time at a charging station as it takes to fuel up ICE vehicles at any gas station. BYD’s Super E-Platform allows for a charging speed of 1000 kW, which the company asserts will be two times faster as compared to Tesla’s TSLA.O that offers 500 kW charging speed.
BYD Launches 1,000 Vold Super E-Platform
    BYD’s Super E-Platform
Called Super E-Platform, this ends all concerns of EV drivers that till date have to rely on other automaker’s charging stations or public charging ports to charge their vehicles. This new architecture will be making its way onto two new electric vehicles, Han L sedan and Tang L SUV. Both these models are open for pre-sales with an official launch set for early next month.
Further, BYD also plans to expand their fast charging networks across the country. Plans are afoot to set up over 4,000 such super-fast charging units across China, catering to this new platform. The company will also attach energy storage facilities to ensure that this 1,000 kW charging power is available even in locations that have lower power capacities. Blade batteries will support fast charging for higher performance of electric vehicles. They allow for quicker ion transfer in the electrolyte relating to lower resistance and hence faster charging.
These batteries are 10C charging multiplier which means that the batteries can be fully charged in 1/10th of an hour, which is 6 minutes. This according to the company is the highest in the world. 1,000 kW is 1 MW – megawatt, which is a unit of charging power being used for the first time in the industry.
    BYD’s Fast Charging Breakthrough
BYD’s Super E-Platform is a further sign of the growing impetus being shown to electric cars in China. It will also prove to be a game changer for the global electric car markets, lessening tensions of spending longer periods at charging stations. This technology will also put BYD ahead of Tesla in the race for faster charging.
BYD’s new Han L EV and Tang L EV have been opened for pre-sales in China. Launch date is set for early April 2025. Coming in a price range of 270,000 – 350,000 yuan (Rs 32 lakh to 42 lakh). These two models receive a 1000V high-voltage system along with 10C charging facilities. It is positioned on the BYD Super E-Platform and allows for acceleration from 0-100 kmph in two seconds. Han L EV sedan receives a 1000 V platform and an 83.2 kWh LFP battery. This is the same battery pack size which is on offer with BYD Sealion 7 SUV that was recently launched in India.  More

Tata Avinya Steering Wheel Patented – Will Not Get Digital Logo Like Nexon, Harrier

Tata Avinya Electric Car Steering WheelCompared to the existing steering wheel seen with Tata cars, the one for Avinya has a more premium and polished appearance
As electrification gains momentum, Tata Motors will be introducing multiple new EVs in the coming years. At the 2025 Bharat Expo, the company had showcased three of its upcoming EVs – Harrier EV, Sierra EV and the Avinya Concept. Tata has now patented the steering wheel to be used with the Avinya EV.
    Tata Avinya steering wheel patented
For several of its cars like Nexon EV, Curvv EV, Harrier and Safari, Tata already utilizes a striking design for the steering wheel. It has the illuminated Tata logo in the centre. The one to be used with the Avinya has a familiar two-spoke design, but there are several distinctive features. For example, the centre of the steering wheel gets ‘Avinya’ badging instead of the Tata logo. Avinya will be among the most premium range electric cars from Tata Motors. As such, it must emphasize its own brand identity.
Tata Avinya Electric Car Steering Wheel
While existing Tata cars have the steering wheel centre pad in glossy black finish, Avinya utilizes a leather-wrapped centre pad. The various corners and surfaces have a smooth, polished appearance, which further enhances the overall look and feel. Avinya’s steering wheel has various touch-based controls for seamless access to the car’s functions. On the left side, users will be able to access controls for the calls and music. And on the right, the steering wheel will have dedicated tabs for the ADAS and cruise control. The steering wheel is expected to be offered in a dual-tone finish.
With the two-spoke design of the steering wheel, Avinya users can get a clear view of the instrument screen. This improves overall convenience as well as safety. Earlier, images of the Avinya Concept had also revealed a stalk on the left side of the steering wheel to control gear shifts. The new steering wheel has minimalistic and futuristic vibes, which complements the overall aesthetics of Avinya’s cabin space.
Tata Avinya Electric Car Steering Wheel
    Tata Avinya – Key features
Based on concept images, Avinya stands out as one of the most captivating Tata cars to date. Some of the key features include T-shaped full-width LED strips at front and rear, a closed-off grille and sleek LED headlamps and DRLs. Side profile has flush door handles, blacked-out pillars, door side moulding and sporty alloy wheels with aerodynamic design. At the rear, Avinya has a tapering roofline, a sharp fin antenna and a heavily raked windshield.
    Tata Avinya X Concept
Inside, the dashboard has the T-shaped full-width lighting bar and horizontally placed AC vents. All controls appear touch-based, which ensures a clutter-free profile. There’s a large freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, likely to be more than 12 inches. Avinya has ambient lighting, comfy seats and a comprehensive range of premium features.
While Tata has not revealed any specifications about the Avinya, it is likely to have a range of more than 500 km. Both RWD and AWD variants could be on offer. Tata Avinya is expected to be launched in 2026. More
