Mahindra BE 6e Spied In South Korea – International Launch Soon?

Mahindra BE 6e spied in South Korea. Credit – Namcha CafeWith its born-electric SUVs like BE 6e, Mahindra has plans to get the attention of the global audience in addition to the domestic market
Mahindra recently introduced the BE 6e and XEV 9e electric SUVs at a starting price of Rs 18.90 lakh and Rs 21.90 lakh, respectively. These born-electric SUVs have set new benchmarks that are relevant at the global level. Mahindra has plans to make these next-gen EVs available across multiple overseas markets.
Mahindra BE 6e spied in South Korea
On the day of its launch, BE 6e was spotted in South Korea in a parking lot. The test unit was fully camouflaged, similar to the ones we had seen in India prior to launch. It is possible that South Korea could be one of the global markets where Mahindra may be planning to introduce its born-electric SUVs.
New Mahindra BE 6e in India
South Korea is ranked amongst the top 10 automotive markets in the world. And the country is aiming to increase EV penetration, which is currently around 10%. There are plans to have around 4.2 million EVs on the roads by 2030. These factors present significant opportunities for EV manufacturers.
Mahindra sells its cars in various countries such as Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UAE, Sri Lanka, European nations and Indonesia. Some South-Central American countries are also covered such as Chile, Peru and Guatemala. Even though Mahindra is currently not active in South Korea, it does have a past connection. South Korea based SsangYong Motor Company was acquired by Mahindra in 2011. The deal was valued at US$463.6 million.

Some successful products were launched in the following years such as the Tivoli SUV. Based on the same platform, the XUV300 sub-4m SUV was launched in India in 2019. Mahindra and SsangYong were also working on plans to launch high-performance, mass market electric cars in South Korea. However, the plans were dashed after a decision was made to stop funding for SsangYong. The company was later acquired by the KG Group.

Mahindra BE 6e – Key specs
Two variants will be on offer, one with a 59-kWh battery pack and the other with a 79-kWh unit. These are LFP battery packs that are considered relatively safer than standard lithium-ion battery packs. With the larger capacity battery, BE 6e will have a certified range of 682 km (MIDC P1+P2). The SUV has a 3-in-1 integrated powertrain that generates 210 kW of peak power (285 PS). Acceleration is pretty fast, with 0 to 100 km/H achieved in 6.7 seconds. Charging from 20% to 80% will take just around 20 minutes when using a 175-kW fast charger.
For complete peace of mind, Mahindra is offering lifetime battery warranty. But this will be applicable to only the first owners (private registration). In case the first owner sells the car, the next owner will be eligible for standard battery warranty of 10 years or 200,000 km. With such class-leading warranty offers, Mahindra has effectively taken care of the usual worries and anxieties that people have about battery maintenance and replacement cost. More

Mahindra BE 6e Vs Tata Curvv EV – Specs, Performance, Dimensions Compared

Mahindra BE 6e Vs Tata Curvv EVWith more performance to offer, Mahindra BE 6e shines bright in this comparison against Tata Curvv EV, which is more conservative
With the launch of BE 6e and XEV 9e, Mahindra has rewritten the rule book of electric SUVs in India. The spectacular launch at Mahindra’s Unlimit India event held in Chennai, BE 6e and XEV 9e defies all expectations and come with extremely competitive prices. Smaller BE 6e is priced from Rs 18.9 lakh (Ex-sh) and directly takes on Tata Curvv EV.
Both offerings are modern and new-age, in their appearance. Both offerings take a coupe SUV shape. And, both are priced along similar brackets and are quite similar and comparable in terms of dimensions. So, let’s take a look at how Mahindra BE 6e fares against Tata Curvv, comparing their specs, dimensions, performance and other attributes.
    BE 6e Vs Curvv EV
Mahindra BE 6e Vs Tata Curvv – Specs
We have to start this comparison with pricing, as that is currently the talk of automotive town. The starting price of BE 6e is Rs 18.9 lakh (Ex-sh) for the base Pack 1 with 59 kWh battery and 231 bhp motor. In comparison, Tata Curvv is slightly more affordable starting from Rs 17.5 lakh (Ex-sh), but base model comes with 45 kWh battery and 150 bhp motor.
BE 6e Vs Curvv EV – Specs
It has to be noted that BE 6e’s base battery of 59 kWh is still considerably larger than Curvv’s higher-spec 55 kWh battery. The main differentiating factor between BE 6e and Curvv EV is powertrain layout. BE 6e is a RWD vehicle packing up to 286 bhp of peak power and 380 Nm of peak torque, while Curvv is a FWD vehicle with up to 167 bhp and 215 Nm.
    BE 6e Vs Curvv EV
BE 6e can sprint to 100 km/h from a standstill in just 6.7 seconds, while it takes 8.6 seconds for Curvv. With RWD, Mahindra has introduced fun into the equation with RWD, something that is currently not present in any of the mainstream electric SUVs sold in India. The main reason for this is that BE 6e is a ground-up born EV, while Curvv is a derived EV where engineers get a lot less freedom.
    BE 6e Vs Curvv EV
Where range is concerned, Mahindra promises 500+ km on a single charge with a 79 kWh battery variant in real-world conditions with AC on. ARAI claimed range is a bonkers 682 km. Owing to its smaller battery, Curvv EV’s range is a lot more modest at 502 km (MIDC) and up to 425 km with Tata’s C75 Range metrics for the larger 55 kWh option.
    Which is the larger vehicle?
Another notable element with Mahindra BE 6e is the lifetime warranty for initial buyers which is non-transferable. Curvv EV’s battery warranty is only 8 years or 1,60,000 km. Where charging is concerned, Mahindra has the upper hand again with support of up to 175 kW of DC fast charging when opposed to Curvv’s 75 kW. Tata provides a 7.2 kW AC charger as standard, while Mahindra offers 7.2 kW or 11.2 kW options, both optional.
BE 6e Vs Curvv EV – Dimensions
Where dimensions are concerned, BE 6e comes out ahead of Curvv EV as it is 61 mm longer, 97 mm wider and has a 215 mm longer wheelbase. Curvv EV is slightly taller by 10 mm. Curvv EV offers a larger 500L boot, while BE 6e’s boot is slightly smaller at 455L. However, BE 6e has a 45L frunk, as opposed to Curvv’s 11.5L.
    BE 6e Vs Curvv EV
Despite being a larger vehicle, Mahindra BE 6e has a smaller turning radius at 10m, thanks to variable geometry in its steering gear ratios. Curvv’s wheels top off at 18-inches, while BE 6e’s start from 18-inches and go all the way till 20-inches. Even the tyre sizes are different. Curvv EV tops off at 215-section, while BE 6e gets 245-section tyres.

2025 Tata Sierra EV Spied Next To Safari Ahead Of Launch

Tata Sierra EV SpiedExterior detailing on the production model of Tata Sierra EV is largely the same as seen with the concept
Tata Motors will be introducing the Sierra EV next year in both ICE and EV formats. In its concept form, the SUV was last showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. Ahead of its launch, images of the production model have leaked online. Most of the styling bits seen with the concept version have been retained in the production model. Use of Tata’s new design language is evident, which can also be seen with other cars such as Curvv EV and upcoming Harrier EV.
Sierra EV – What to expect?
Sierra EV has a prominent closed-off grille section, top mounted full-width LED strip and a chiselled bonnet with distinctive lines. It has a strong presence when viewed from the side as well. Key highlights include flush door handles, door moulding, squarish wheel arches, thick body cladding, roof rails and sporty alloy wheels.
    Tata Sierra EV Spied
Sierra EV’s charging port is located at the rear on the left side. One of the USPs of Sierra EV is that it retains the signature features of the original ICE Sierra. Key among them are the wide B pillars and the wraparound glass effect at the rear.
With the use of a black plastic finisher, the rear windows merge seamlessly with the rear windshield. The same is applicable for the combo of the rear windows and the panoramic sunroof. However, that effect cannot be seen in these images, as only the side and front view has been captured.
    Tata Sierra EV Concept
At the rear, Sierra EV has sharp tail lamps and a full-width LED strip. A prominent bumper section complements the SUV’s dominating profile. A tailgate mounted spare wheel, as seen with the original Sierra, would have added more dynamism. However, that’s not available. At least, not with this particular unit. The spare wheel for Sierra is likely to be in the lower section of the boot.
    Tata Sierra EV Concept
    Tata Sierra EV – Performance
Tata has not revealed any specs about the electric powertrain to be used with Sierra EV. The SUV could be using a 45 kWh or 55 kWh battery pack. Range could be around 550 km. While a single motor setup will be standard, it remains to be seen if a dual-motor configuration with AWD is also available.
During an investor’s meet, Tata recently announced that Sierra will be launched by the end of 2025. Before that, a preview could be provided around the 2025 festive season. Sierra will be available in both EV and ICE versions. As Tata is the market leader in the EV segment and wants to strengthen its position, Sierra EV is likely to be introduced first before the ICE model. A similar approach was utilized for Curvv. The Curvv EV was launched in August 2024, followed by the ICE variant in September 2024.
