    Hero MotoCorp Feb 2021 Sales Crosses 5 Lakh – Splendor, Destini, Maestro

    Hero MotoCorp sales surpass the 5 lakh units mark yet again in February 2021

    Yet again Hero Motocorp has reported total sales at over 5 lakh units. February 2021, saw the manufacturer reports sales decline for motorcycles, and growth for scooters. Motorcycle sales fell to 4,63,723 units, down from 4,79,310 units at volume loss of 15.587 units. Sales decline stood at 3.25 units.
    Motorcycle sales contributes to the lion’s share of volumes at over 90 percent. Scooter sales improved significantly in Feb 2021. Sales was up at 41,744 units, up from 18,932 units. Sales more than doubled at volume gain of 22,812 units. Growth is pegged at 120 percent to raise scooters’ share in total sales to 8.26 percent.

    Hero MotoCorp does most of its business at home. Domestic sales stood at 4,84,433 units, remaining flat-tish, up from 4,80,196 units sold in Feb 2020. Some of the star performers in sales were Splendor, Passion, HF Deluxe, Maestro, Pleasure, Glamour, etc.
    Exports grew by 16.56 percent, up at 21,034 units, up from 18,046 units at volume gain at just under 3k units. Exports accounted for just over 4 percent of total sales at Hero MotoCorp. Total sales growth last month is reported at 1.45 percent. Sales rose to 5,05,467 units, up from 4,98,242 units. Volume gain stood at 7,225 units.

    MoM sales growth is reported at just over 4 percent, up from 4,85,889 units. volume gain stood at 19,578 units. MoM motorcycles’ sales growth is reported at 3.27 percent. Sales rose from 4,49,037 units at volume gain of 14,686 units. Scooter sales MoM growth is reported at 13.27 percent. Sales rose from 36,852 units at volume gain of 4,892 units.
    Of this domestic sales MoM growth stood at 3.56 percent at volume gain of 16,657 units. Sales rose from 4,67,776 units sold in Jan 21. Exports grew by 16.13 percent at volume gain of 2,921 units. Exports rose from 18,113 units a month earlier.
    YTD sales
    Despite Hero MotoCorp’s ability to sell two wheelers by the dozen, the manufacturer is staring at sales decline for the fiscal that ends in March 2021. This is but expected considering the slow start to business in FY21. After a complete lockdown through April 2020 owing to Covid-19 pandemic, the following months were spent smoothening logistics and supply chain disruptions. While business in recent months has been favourable, the year will end on a slow note.
    YTD FY21 motorcycles sales is down by 15.40 percent at 48,08,849 units, down from 56,84,508 units. Despite uncertainties, scooter sales has improved at just under 4 percent. Over 4 lakh units have been sold in the last 11 months, up from just under 4 lakh units for the same period in FY20. Total domestic YTD sales has crossed the 50 lakh mark, down from just under 60 lakhs at the same time last year.
    Exports decline marginally at 1,58,991 units. The start to 2021 appears to be strong with Hero MotoCorp wholesales through January and February being reported at just under 10 lakh units. More

    Royal Enfield Sales Feb 2021 – Classic, Bullet, Meteor, Himalayan

    Royal Enfield reports YoY and MoM sales growth in February 2020

    Royal Enfield reports total two wheeler sales for February 2021 at 69,659 units. Sales growth is just shy of double digits at 9.64 percent, up from 63,536 units. Volume gain stood at 6,123 units, up from 63,536 units.
    Of this domestic wholesales of the 350cc segment motorcycles accounted for 64,362 units. Sales growth stood at 12.34 percent. Volume gain is pegged at about 7.1k units, up from 57,292 units. It leads from the front at 92.40 percent of all RE sales last month.
    The above 350cc segment sees a much smaller volume of sales. Sales fell to about 5.5k units, down from 6,244 units at volume loss of 947 units. Sales decline stood at 15.17 percent, accounting for just over 7.5 percent of all sales.
    Exports and MoM sales growth
    Total domestic sales growth is reported at 6.42 percent growth. Sales rose to 65,114 units, up from 61,188 units at volume gain of 3,926 units. Exports almost doubled. Exports are reported at 4,545 units, up from 2,348 units at volume gain of 93.57 percent. Business from exports accounted for 6.52 percent of total RE sales.

    350cc segment MoM sales grew by over a percent, up from 63,580 units. Volume gain stood at 782 units. Above 350cc segment MoM sales decline is reported at 2.18 percent. Volumes fell from 5,415 units at volume loss of 118 units. Total domestic sales fell by .58 percent, down from 65,492 units.
    MoM exports grew by about 30 percent at volume gain of 1,042 units, up from 3,503 units. Total MoM sales is marginal at just under a percent, at 0.96 percent. Sales grew from just under 69k units sold in January 2021.
    FY21 YTD Royal Enfield sales
    While sales in recent months are in the green, the current fiscal got off to a start wherein there was no movement. The automobile market has come a long way from the early days of no sales activity following the announcement of Covid-19 pandemic related lockdown in March 2020.
    Hence recovery in this fiscal is an impossibility for Royal Enfield. YTD FY21 upto 350cc segment sales is reported at just under 5 lakh units. Sales decline is reported at 15 percent, down from 5,89,526 units.
    The above 350cc segment saw sales dwindle by over a third. Sales fell to 46,609 units, down 34 percent from 70,619 units. YTD FY21 exports have fallen to 32,737 units at 9 percent decline, down from 36,124 units. Total YTD sales decline is reported at 17 percent.     One of the most iconic motorcycle brands of all time, Hayabusa has always been synonymous with speed and advanced engineering. It was the first of its kind to achieve top speed of 312 km/h (194 mph) in 1999. Now in its third generation, Hayabusa continues to draw auto enthusiasts from across the globe.

    Although it carries on with its bulbous proportions, next-gen Hayabusa looks a lot sharper as compared to its predecessor. With the compact fairing and other design updates, the front fascia gets a more aggressive profile. Other key changes include chrome plated twin exhausts, new LED headlight, updated fuel tank design, and two-part LED taillights. Bolder fonts for ‘Hayabusa’ logo further enhance the superbike’s sporty character.

    Powering the beast is a 1340cc inline four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine that is capable of generating 187 bhp of max power and 150 Nm of peak torque. This is short by 8 bhp and 4 Nm, as compared to the earlier model. Transmission is a 6-speed gearbox integrated with two-way quick shifter.
    The engine is basically the same as earlier, but it has been updated to comply with Euro-5/BS6 emission standards. This has been achieved via the addition of new intake system, catalytic converter and updated exhaust system. With these changes, fuel efficiency of next-gen Hayabusa has dropped to 18.06 kmpl, as compared to 21.5 kmpl earlier.

    In terms of features, new Hayabusa offers a new TFT screen that is placed between the analogue speedometer and tachometer. Tech upgrades include traction control, six-axis IMU system, ride-by-wire throttle, ABS cornering package, hill hold control, launch control, active speed limiter and six ride modes.

    New-gen Suzuki Hayabusa will be launched in India soon – confirms the social media channels of Suzuki India. It is likely to be imported as CBU at first with CKD assembly starting at a later stage in India. This has been the case with earlier models as well. As for the pricing, the superbike is expected to be launched in the range of Rs 17-18 lakh (ex-showroom).
    Just like its predecessors, third-gen Hayabusa is expected to register strong sales. The Web Edition that was announced exclusively in Italy was sold out within three days. Only 10 units of these were offered. Priced at 21,490 Euros (Rs 18.9 lakh), the Web Edition of Hayabusa was equipped with a range of premium features. These included Akrapovic approved titanium silencers, anodized levers with brand logo, carbon tank pad, carbon mirror covers, rim stripe and seat cover.

    TVS Motor Sales Feb 2021 Grow By 15% – Jupiter, Ntorq, Apache, XL 100

    TVS two-wheeler domestic wholesales and exports drives growth in February 2021

    TVS Motor reports total sales growth at 17.57 percent. This includes domestic sales and exports of its two-wheelers and three-wheelers. TVS’ 3W market is relatively small when compared to its 2W market. Of this, TVS puts on its strongest show in the domestic 2W market.
    In February 2021, domestic two-wheeler wholesales was reported at 1,95,145 units at 15 percent growth, up from 1,69,684 units. Volume gain stood at over 25k units. Domestic 2W wholesales accounts for over 65 percent of all of TVS sales.
    Of this, motorcycles sales contributed to the bulk at 1,37,259 units sold. Wholesales grew at 15.82 percent, up from 1,18,514 units at 18,745 volume gain. It accounted for 46 percent of all TVS sales.
    TVS scooter and moped sales
    Scooter sales were within arm’s distance of a lakh units. Domestic scooter sales is reported at 95,525 units. Growth was reported at 57.55 percent, up from 60,633 units at volume gain of 34,892 units.

    Moped sales was reported at 51,797 units. Sales declined by 8.72 percent, down from 56,744 units. Volume loss stood at just under 5k units. 2W exports too improved. Growth was reported at just over 35 percent.
    Exports stood at 89,436 units, up from 66,207 units at volume gain of 23,229 units. 2W exports accounted for about 30 percent of TVS’ total business last month. Together, 2W total (domestic and exports) sales grew by 20.64 percent. Sales was up at 2,84,581 units, up from 2,35,891 units at volume gain of under 50k units. Business improvement of 48,890 units means 95.58 percent of TVS’ business revolves around two-wheelers.
    TVS three wheeler sales decline
    The remainder 4.42 percent is attributed to total (domestic and exports) three-wheeler sales. Despite growth, domestic 3W sales volume is under a 1,000 units. At 813 units, sales growth stood at 16.14 percent, up from 700 units sold in Feb 20.
    3W exports declined by a quarter. Exports fell to 12,353 units, down from 16,670 units at 35.90 percent decline. Volume loss stood at 4,317 units. Total 3W sales is reported at 13,166 units, down 24.20 percent from 17,370 units. Volume loss stood at 4,204 units.
    Of total sales, domestic sales accounts for almost two-thirds of all TVS sales. Domestic (2W and 3W) in February 2021 is reported at 1,95,958 units. Sales grew 15 percent, up from 1,70,384 units at 25,574 units volume gain. Exports (2W and 3W) grew by 22.82 percent.     2021 Bajaj Platina 110 ABS Arrives At Dealer Ahead Of Launch

    Bajaj is gearing up to launch the new Platina 110 H-Gear with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). This will make it the first manufacturer to offer ABS on an entry-level 110cc motorcycle in India. Images of the upcoming bike have surfaced online which shed some details about it.
    Cosmetic Updates
    The model in these pics is seen sporting a grey paint scheme with black and white body graphics. However, the most notable variation from the regular Platina 110 is a pair of spoked alloy wheels painted in white. Apart from these visual add-ons, an ABS kit and few more cosmetic updates, it is still essentially the same bike.

    Feature Updates
    The new alloy wheels take inspiration from the brand’s premium Pulsar RS and NS range of models. The rear shock absorbers along with ‘Platina’ and ‘ABS’ branding are painted in golden colour. Further, all four turn indicators have been reworked and now look sharper and sleeker.
    Interestingly, this model gets an analogue instrument cluster against the standard model’s semi-digital console. It consists of an analogue speedometer, analogue fuel gauge, analogue odometer and all basic tell-tale lights.

    Platina 110 ABS is also expected to feature updated hardware in the form of ComforTec technology with nitrox SoS suspension. It is also expected to receive broader rubber footpads and a longer seat for improved rider and pillion comfort.
    Other updates include a 3D logo with new decals, tubeless tyres and a better quality saddle with well-cushioned and well-foamed seats. Other than this, there will be no other changes on Platina 110 ABS.
    Engine Specs
    It will still draw its energy from a BS6 compliant 115cc single-cylinder, air-cooled motor that kicks out 8.44 bhp of power and 9.81 Nm of peak torque. This unit is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks upfront and twin shocks at rear. The earlier model with a semi-digital console also came with a ‘Gear-Shift-Guide’ which was essentially a gear shift indicator.

    Platina 110 H-Gear made its debut in India a couple of years back and is currently retailed in two trims- drum brake and disc brake. It is currently offered at a starting price of Rs 64,301 (ex-showroom) and it is expected that after the launch of the ABS variant the base trim might be discontinued. Although Bajaj hasn’t revealed prices of the new ABS variant of Platina 110, we expect it to be priced around Rs 70k (ex-showroom).

    Total two-wheeler sales during the past month were up 7 percent at 3.32 lakh units as compared to 3.10 lakh units sold in Feb 20

    Bajaj Auto Limited has released their sales figures for the past month. The company continued to experience single digit growth rate in Feb 2021 as was seen in Jan 21.
    Bajaj has reported a sales growth of 6 percent with total sales of 3,75,017 units as against 3,54,913 units in the same month of last year. Two wheeler sales increased 7 percent to 3,32,563 units in Feb 21 as against 3,10,222 units sold in Feb 20 with domestic sales remaining flat at 1 percent increase to 1,48,934 units.
    Two wheeler exports increased 12 percent to 1,83,629 units in the past month as against 1,63,346 units exported in Feb 20. Bajaj Auto is paying close attention to extending its Pulsar range. The new Pulsars are poised for launch and are being actively tested with launch date set for later this year.
    Commercial Vehicle Sales
    Commercial vehicle sales in Feb 21 noted a de-growth of 5 percent to 42,454 units, down from 44,691 units sold in Feb 20. In this case as well, domestic sales dipped 27 percent to 15,877 units, down from 21,871 units sold in Feb 20 while exports increased 16 percent to 26,577 units, up from 22,820 units shipped in the same month of the previous year.

    The company continues to face supply chain issues and hence losing both in terms of domestic sales and exports. As was stated by Rajiv Bajaj, MD, Bajaj Auto, growth would have been much more had it not been for shortage in supply of semi-conductors and ABS parts from Bosch.
    Total two wheeler and commercial vehicle sales increased 6 percent in Feb 21 to 3,75,017 units with de-growth in terms of domestic sales but more positive exports. Domestic sales dipped 2 percent to 1,64,811 units, down from 1,68,747 units in Feb 21, while exports increased 13 percent to 2,10,206 units, up from 1,86,166 units exported in Feb 20.

    Bajaj Auto year to date – April 2020 to Feb 2021, sales ended in the red. This was both in terms of two wheelers and commercial vehicles and where domestic sales and exports were concerned. Total sales stood at 36,03,466 units during the said period, down 18 percent as against 43,72,637 units sold in the corresponding period of the previous year.

    Two wheeler domestic sales dipped 18 percent to 16,27,982 units, down from 19,79,936 units sold in the same April to Feb period of 2020. Exports slipped 6 percent to 16,47,778 units from 17,56,656 units while it was a similar performance seen in terms of commercial vehicles.
    Total commercial vehicle sales in the April-Feb 2020 period had stood at 6,36,045 units, which fell 48 percent to 3,27,706 units in the April-Feb 2021 period. Domestic sales dipped 73 percent while exports fell 18 percent during the same period.     2021 Super Soco CUmini Electric Scooter Debuts – Up To 70 Kms Range

    In recent times we have seen the advent of several new electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers, especially in the two-wheeler segment. It has been made very clear by governing authorities of various countries that for a sustainable future, fossil fuels have to make way for electric energy which will drive future automobiles.
    Now, another electric mobility brand is making headlines with the unveiling of its new products. Super Soco recently unveiled three new offerings- two motorcycles and one scooter. The electric motorcycles- TC Wanderer and TS Street Hunter have been discussed at length in another story.
    SuperSoco Electric Scooter
    Styling
    Besides the electric bikes, the company also unveiled CUmini electric scooter which will be positioned as an entry-level offering. Based on the more powerful CUx electric scooter, CUmini adopts a minimalistic and more modern design approach with a catchy slogan “Fun way to move”.
    It looks visibly small and has been designed primarily for new riders and specifically for short, urban commutes. It will be made available in four paint schemes- black, gray, white and red.

    There are subtle differences in design between the Chinese-spec and the recently revealed Euro-spec models of CUmini. The Chinese version of CUmini doesn’t get conventionally positioned individual turn indicators which its European counterpart does.
    Also, the China-spec model is offered in a single-seat layout whereas the Euro-spec version gets a two-seater layout. Although, by the looks of it a pillion seat could be installed in the former.
    Features on offer
    Super Soco claims that CUmini gets a single-piece panel all-inclusive body design with its car-like headlights as one of the prominent highlights. In addition to a tubular-shaped headlamp with U-shaped outer ends positioned at its front apron, the e-scooter also gets a full-width strip of LED light placed on top behind the handlebar. The contrasting black colour on the handlebar, alloy wheels, floorboard and rearview mirrors add a nice sporty contrast to the scooter.

    In terms of equipment, it is decently equipped with features such as a keyless start with a remote, LED taillight, LED rear turn signals, 12-inch wheels and a monochrome LCD instrument cluster. This digital instrument cluster shows information battery charge, GPS positioning, alarm status along with other data by pairing it with Super Soco’s smartphone app. For an entry-level offering, CUmini gets a whole lot of features.
    Powertrain Specs
    Coming to its specifications, it features a powertrain consisting of a 0.6 kW or 0.8 PS electric motor which draws its power from a 48V and 20Ah battery pack which has a capacity of 0.96 kWh. The best part is that the battery is swappable and weighs just 7.2 kg. The battery could be replenished using a home charger in seven hours and is claimed to provide a single-charge range of about 60-70 km.     Okinawa Electric Motorcycle Oki 100 Launch Soon – First Teaser Released

    Okinawa Autotech showcased the Oki 100 electric motorcycle in the form of a prototype in 2018 Auto Expo. At 2020 Auto Expo, the fast growing electric two wheeler brand announced that its first motorcycle will be launched in the festive season. However, just like several other cases, the Okinawa Oki 100’s launch plans were hampered by the pandemic crisis. Now that the market is recovering, the brand has teased the production version which is set to be launched soon.

    The Okinawa Oki 100 is a compact commuter electric motorcycle which derives its styling inspiration from the Ducati Monster. The LED headlamp, red painted trellis frame, the pseudo fuel tank, and the tailpiece have obvious resemblance to the Italian middle-weight street fighter.
    Compared to the prototype, the production version which has been teased seems to miss out on a few items in a bid to keep the costs in check. For example, the LED turn indicators have been done away with in favor of conventional halogen units. The company earlier confirmed that the Oki 100 will offer connectivity features with a dedicated smartphone app.
    Specifications
    Without revealing the final specifications of the production version, Okinawa earlier stated that the motorcycle will have a top-speed of 100 kmph (hence the 100 in its name) and it will be heavily localized. In fact, save for the battery cells, all the other components will be locally made.

    Capacity of the lithium ion battery pack has not been revealed yet but expect the electric commuter to have a range of up to 150 km on a single charge. For reference, the prototype which was showcased in 2018 was powered by a 60 Ah 73 V battery pack which was capable of charging in two hours through a fast charger. The motor was a 3.3 hp unit. Okinawa hinted that the final production version is most likely to have a different battery and motor combination but the key performance figures would remain intact.
    The compact electric motorcycle is equipped with telescopic front forks, monoshock rear suspension, alloy wheels, front and rear disc brakes (could be offered with single-channel ABS), fully digital instrument console, and a belt drive.
    Rivals and price
    With a near 100% localization right from day one, the Okinawa Oki 100 motorcycle is expected to be competitively priced. A starting price of around INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom) would be an attractive proposition.
    Competition will come from the likes of Revolt RV400 which is already in the market and the upcoming Tork T6X which is likely to be introduced later this year. The Okinawa Oki 100 will be manufactured at the company’s Rajasthan plant. The electric commuter motorcycle is expected to widen Okinawa’s audience base significantly. More
