      The upcoming Ola electric scooter has managed to create enough buzz ahead of its launch, thanks to the company’s CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, who has been very active on social media of late. Bookings of the highly anticipated e-scooter have commenced at a token amount of just Rs 499.
      However, the upcoming scooter hasn’t found a brand name, at least in public. Upon checking the Government’s official trademark registry, we have got a hint of what the e-scooter might be called. Apparently, Ola Electric has filed three trademarks for three names which are Series S, S1, and S1 Pro.
      More Details
      From the looks of it, Series S is expected to be the official brand name of the scooter, while S1 and S1 Pro could be its other two variants, the former being the base trim. As of now, it has been referred to as ‘Ola electric scooter’ which is a very generic term. All variants will differ in terms of features, specifications and maybe colour options as well.
      The overall design of the e-scooter is expected to remain similar regardless of the variant. Series S could be the base variant while S1 and S1 PRO could be higher variants. The difference between the variants is expected to be in terms of colour options and ride range.

      Colour Options & Highlights
      Recently, images of the production-spec model of the upcoming Ola e-scooter were leaked online which gave insights about its colour options. As of now, we know that the Ola electric scooter will be offered in at least three paint schemes- Blue, Black and Pink.
      Previous teasers have already highlighted that it would be offering some class-leading attributes in the form of under-seat storage, single-charge range and app-based keyless access to the scooter.
      Features & Specs
      Speaking of features, the base S1 trim is expected to miss out on some of the premium tech on board the premium S1 Pro trim. Some of its notable features expected to be offered in the upcoming e-scooter include alloy wheels, removable Lithium-ion battery, digital instrument console, cloud connectivity and more which could be derived from its Dutch twin Etergo Appscooter.
      Specifications of the e-scooter haven’t been revealed as of now but we can expect a range of 150km on a single charge. The company claims disruptive prices for the segment, hence it is expected to be made available at a price of around Rs 1.0 lakh (ex-showroom).       TVS iQube Electric Scooter To Go On Sale At 1,000 Dealers By March 2022

      With electric mobility gathering momentum in the country in the fast few months, especially in the two-wheeler space, focus has shifted to the new crop of EV manufacturing startups. However, established automakers are devising new strategies to overcome stiff competition from newbies in the Indian auto industry.
      Two-wheeler major TVS has announced that the company will be investing Rs 1,000 crore in building a new manufacturing facility dedicated to production of EVs. This proposed new factory will come within the existing Hosur premises of the company’s plant which builds both TVS and BMW models in India.

      The recent development was confirmed by Sudarshan Venu, Joint Managing Director, TVS Motor Company in an interaction with Economic Times. The project is being helmed by Sudarshan in association with other board members like Ralf Speth, former CEO of Jaguar and current chairman of TVS Motor; and Kuok Meng Xiong. Sudarshan added that the company intends to scale up the TVS electric experience pan India.
      The report further mentions that the upcoming EV manufacturing plant will have an annual production capacity of 1 lakh units and will assemble both two-wheelers and three-wheelers. These models will feature battery packs in the range of 5-25kW capacity and should be ready to hit showrooms across the country within 24 months.

      The brand is looking to establish its presence across a wide range of EV segments such as commuter space, commuter space, last-mile market, high-performance sporty motorcycles, premium scooters and electric three-wheelers.
      New EVs Designed & Developed in India
      That said, TVS is not looking to ditch its petrol-driven models anytime soon. The company’s range of EVs will be retailed in parallel to the current petrol-powered models. The company’s new EV vertical already has 500-600 engineers working on various concepts to meet market requirements.
      The new range of EVs will be designed and developed in India within a global R&D environment that aims to cater to both domestic and international markets. TVS already has a dedicated facility for electric models which is scalable. In addition, the company is also developing integrated vehicle architecture with a critical backend manufacturing of batteries and other critical EV components.
      iQube Details
      The Hosur-based manufacturer currently has only EV offering in the two-wheeler space in the form iQube e-scooter. The scooter is presently available for retail in a limited number of places such as Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Pune and Coimbatore. However, by the end of the current fiscal year, it will be available for sale in 1,000 dealerships across major cities and towns in the country. iQube is currently priced at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom).

      As against a current customer base of over 5,000 in the state of Gujarat, Okinawa wishes to take this count to 15,000 by 2022. With this target in place, Okinawa is working along with the Gujarat government which is planning at having two lakh EVs on state roads in the upcoming four years.

      The company presents three high speed scooters called the Okinawa Ridge+, Okinawa Praise Pro, and Okinawa iPraise+. These models now come in with savings ranging from Rs 26,947, to Rs 37,892 following the new order.
      The Okinawa Praise Pro which was earlier priced at Rs.84,795 came down to Rs 74,848 following the FAME II revisions. It is now reduced further by Rs 19,000 to Rs 57,848, thus relating to a total savings of Rs 26,947. Okinawa Ridge, earlier carried a price tag of Rs 69,000 with the current price at Rs 44,391 ex-s showroom Gujarat with total saving of Rs 24,609.

      The top of the line Okinawa Praise Plus prices have been reduced from Rs 1,17,600 to Rs 79,708 with Gujarat Government incentive at Rs 20,000 to a new pricing of Rs 79,708. All prices are effective from 1st July 2021.

      Features, Power and Performance
      The Okinawa range offers smart features that include anti-theft sensor, side stand sensor and keyless entry. It also receives the “Find My Scooter” location tracker for added safety. Okinawa i-Praise scooter gets a 2.5Kw electric motor that makes 3.5 hp power and 40 Nm torque. It gets 3 ride modes of Eco, Sport and Turbo claiming a top speed of 75 km/h and a range of 160 Km range on a single charge. It gets its power via a removable 72 volt dual battery pack with charging facility in approximately 3 hours to fully charge.
      Every Okinawa product is fitted with a removable battery pack for more convenient charging either at the user’s home, office or at any other convenient location. The lithium ion batteries can be charged via a standard electric socket and is as easy as charging a mobile phone.

      Okinawa further highlights that it has entered into association with several banks, NBFC, Fintech Co, Leasing and retail companies to simplify the process of buying for customers.       Bajaj Chetak electric scooter, launched in India more than 1.5 years ago, has been closed for bookings for most of the time. The retro classic electric scooter came in with much fanfare in Jan 2020. It was an immediate hit, receiving over 50,000 expression of interest and huge booking orders in first few weeks.
      Then came Covid-19 induced lockdown in March 2020. Production got affected as supply chain was down. Parts were not available. These issues resulted in Bajaj closing booking. Priority was to deliver the electric scooter to those who had already booked.
      Bajaj Chetak Electric Scoter – New Cities
      Until now, Bajaj Chetak was only on sale in Pune and Bangalore. Bajaj had plans to launch the scooter in many cities by end 2020, but Covid-19 has caused the delay. With life slowly getting back on track, or the world learns to survive with Covid-19, automakers are starting to execute their plans which were paused due to the pandemic.
      Bajaj Chetak has announced the launch of Chetak electric scooter in Nagpur. The launch event took in the presence of Hon. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. He unveiled the Chetak Electric at KTM Khamla Square, Nagpur. Interestingly, it was Nitin Gadkari who unveiled the Chetak back in Jan 2020 in Delhi.
      Bajaj Chetak Electric Scooter Bookings Open In Nagpur
      The Bajaj Chetak, offered in Urbane and Premium variants was priced at Rs.1 lakh and Rs.1.15 lakhs respectively. But recently, its prices were hiked and is now available at a price of about Rs 1.43 lakh and Rs 1.5 lakh respectively.
      The company is confident that despite a rather significant increase in price, demand will in no way be affected as the Chetak appeals to a more affluent segment of first time two wheeler buyers in the country. Bajaj will launch Chetak next in Aurangabad, Mysore, Mangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. By March 2022, the company plans to have its presence in 30 cities across India.
      Bajaj New Chakan Plant
      Bajaj is planning a new production facility in Chakan, near Pune. It is from here that the company plans to produce premium range of motorcycles from brands like KTM, Husqvarna and Triumph, as well as the Bajaj Chetak e-scooter. The company has signed an MoU with the Government of Maharashtra to set up this new facility into which the company will make investments of Rs. 650 crores.
      As per the terms of the agreement, the Government of Maharashtra will assist the bikemaker in procuring permissions, registrations, approvals, clearances, fiscal incentives, etc, from the concerned departments. It is from this new plant that KTM AG also plans to develop an electric scooter on the Chetak platform. More

Now, photos of new motorcycle have surfaced online. These are wearing Jawa badging. The motorcycle derives inspiration from Honda’s design language.
      There is a badging of ‘RVR500’ just below the fuel tank. Two colour options are seen. The green one has brown seat while the red one has black seat. The interesting wheels with conventional orientation of the spokes definitely stand out.
      Bristol Veloce 500

      The same motorcycles which have been spied with Jawa badge, are exactly same as Bristol Motorcycles – a Philippines based motorcycle manufacturer. It is sold as Bristol Veloce 500. It is priced at about PHP 348k, which is approx Rs 5.2 lakhs as per today’s conversion rates.
      Specifications
      Bristol Veloce 500 is equipped with a liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder (as evident by the twin exhaust downtubes) 471cc engine. Power output is rated at 35 kW (47 hp) @ 8500 rpm and 43 Nm @ 6500 rpm. Transmission is taken care by a 6 speed gearbox.

      Other highlights include upside-down telescopic front forks, twin-exhaust canisters, monoshock rear suspension, and a single rear disc brake. It is equipped with a fully digital instrument console and dual-channel ABS. The meaty tyres with pronounced buttons give the motorcycle a mild scrambler appeal.

      Dimensions
      Bristol Veloce 500 is 2156mm long, 850mm wide and 1177mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 1460mm and a seat height of 760mm. Kerb weight is at 173 Kgs, while ground clearance is at 190mm. Front Tyre size is 110/80-18 while at the rear is 160/60-17. Full specs can be seen in the table below.
      Is it coming to India?
      Nothing much is known about this motorcycle with Jawa branding and its India launch. It is likely that Jawa brand has partnered with some other company to rebadge the Bristol Veloce 500 and sell it in a select country.

      The Ola Tamil Nadu plant will help to generate around 10,000 employment opportunities and will comply with Industry 4.0 norms. Besides catering to the demands in Indian markets will also focus on exports to countries of Europe, Asia and Latin America.
      Ola Electric Scooter Range – 122 kms with 87% charge

      The Ola electric scooter will be launched in India sometime in the coming weeks. As per the leaked spy shot, the console shows there is 87% charge remaining and 122 kms range.       Acceleration from 0 to 45 km/h will be achieved in 3.9 seconds while top speed will be at above 80 km/h.       Revolt Electric Motorcycles July 2021 Batch Sold Out In 10 Minutes

      Revolt Electric Motorcycles are in huge demand, claims the company. After opening the bookings earlier today at 12 PM, the company had to close the bookings in just 10 minutes as the entire batch got sold out. RattanIndia’s Revolt Motors has not revealed any numbers. Last month they had said that they got bookings worth Rs 50 crores in 2 hours.
      Anjali Rattan, Business Chairman, Rattanindia Enterprises said, “Revolt bikes being sold out within minutes is strong testimony of the product quality of Revolt. With petrol prices reaching upwards of Rs. 100 in the country, it is hard for customers to miss huge savings that Revolt bikes bring.”
      FAME Incentives
      Thanks to amendments made to the FAME II policy, prices of electric vehicles across India have reduced drastically. Electric scooters and motorcycles have been the biggest beneficiaries and the same can be seen as their demand sees meteoric rise. In addition to the FAME-II incentives, State Govt’s have also stepped in and offered additional benefits for EV buyers.
      Revolt says, “With falling battery prices, EV bikes prices are already comparable to their petrol counterparts. In addition various state governments are giving significant incentives to customers buying electric bikes. For example Maharashtra is giving incentives of more than Rs. 25,000 per bike, Gujarat Govt. gives incentives of Rs. 20,000 per bike, Delhi Government gives direct incentive of about Rs. 16,200 per bike for Revolt customers.

      Similarly, Meghalaya has incentive of Rs. 32,000 per bike for Revolt and Bihar has also proposed a similar amount as incentive. In addition states of Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Delhi have also waived off the road tax for EV two wheelers.”
      Revolt Motorcycles
      Both electric motorcycles share the same mechanicals while using the same frame and components of Chinese company Super Soco’s TS motorcycle. The e-bikes look nearly identical with the primary difference between them being the motor and battery capacity. RV300 comes with a 60-volt, 2.7 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack which is paired with a 1.5 kW hub motor. It is offered with three ride modes namely Eco, Normal and Sports.
      The top speed attained by RV300 at respective modes are 25 km/h (Eco), 45 km/h (Normal) and 65 km/h (Sports). Their respective single-charge range is pegged at 180 km, 110 km and 80 km. The battery takes 3 hours to charge from 0-75% and 4 hours to juice up fully 100 percent.
      RV400, on the other hand, uses a higher voltage and bigger capacity battery pack which is paired to a more powerful motor. A 3kW motor draws its power from a 72-volt 3.24 kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. It offers the same set of ride modes as offered in RV300. This bike can clock a top speed of 45 kmph in Eco mode, 65 kmph in Normal mode and 85 kmph in Sports mode. The single-charge range in respective ride modes stands at 150 km, 100 km and 80 km. The charging time is 3 hours (0-75%) and 4.5 hours (0-100%). More
