    Honda has its new adventure motorcycle CB200X in India today. The bike is based on the same platform and powertrain as Hornet 2.0. Launch price of the new Honda CB200X is Rs 1,44,500, ex-sh, Gurgaon.
    Like most entry-level adventure tourers, CB200X is a road-biased machine with some moderate off-roading capabilities. Unlike the other adventure tourers from Honda such as CB500X and Africa Twin, the CB200X will be sold through the company’s regular chain of dealerships.

    Design
    New Honda CB200X gets a similar angular, all-LED V-shaped headlamp as seen in Hornet 2.0. Other highlights include a black windscreen, a front-heavy faired body, a wider handlebar, engine protector and knuckle guards which housed turn indicators. Three colours are on offer with new CB200X. These are Red, Silver and Black.
    Most of the bike’s design cues are inspired by the CX-02 Concept revealed earlier in India. The tail section of the bike also gets LED lamps. It gets split-style seats and split pillion grab rails. The seats are contoured for better comfort over longer commutes.

    In terms of equipment, the bike offers features such as an all-digital instrument cluster which is compatible with RoadSync tech for smartphone connectivity and navigation as well via Bluetooth headphones. It also gets the same golden-coloured front forks as seen in Hornet 2.0. Other attributes include high ground clearance, a long-travel suspension, high saddle height and a single-channel ABS.

    Speaking of hardware, it is based on the same chassis as Hornet. The platform is suspended on upside-down forks at front and a preload-adjustable mono-shock at rear. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes on both wheels.
    Engine Specs
    The wire-spoked 21-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels are shod by knobby dual-purpose tyres for more grip during off-road riding. As mentioned before, CB200X is powered by the same 184.4cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine offered in Hornet 2.0. This motor is capable of generating 17 bhp at 8500rpm and 16.1 Nm of peak torque at 6000rpm while being mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

    New CFMoto 250cc Motorcycle Launch Soon As 250SR-R

    CFMoto is also working towards developing a dedicated lineup of electric two-wheelers which will be retailed under its newly formed sub-brand Zeeho
    CFMoto will soon introduce a sportier iteration of its 250cc sports bike 250SR which made its global debut last year. The new motorcycle is called 250SR-R and its existence has been revealed through a type-approval document in China. Reports also indicate that there will also be a sportier derivative of 300SR named 300SR-R.
    The 300SR-R will make its debut following the official unveiling of its quarter-litre counterpart. The Chinese bikemaker has maintained the tradition of adding an extra suffix of ‘R’ for the more enthralling iteration of the sports bike. That said, both motorcycles get the same power source churning out the same output.
    Changes in Specs
    Powering 250SR-R is a 249.2cc single-cylinder engine that cranks out an identical 29 bhp as offered in 250SR. However, performance is better in comparison, thanks to a reduction in the bike’s kerb weight.
    While the latter weighs 165kg, 250SR-R tips the weighing scales at 157kg which is a significant drop of 8 kilos. This also results in a sizable improvement in power to weight ratio.

    Reduction in weight has been achieved by adoption of some lightweight materials in elements like bodywork. The most notable update has been made to the bike’s hardware which gets a single-sided swingarm instead of a double-sided swingarm as offered in 250SR. To complement the swingarm are the front USD golden-coloured forks which is another cosmetic enhancement over the standard model.
    Other possible updates
    The changes in hardware on 250SR-R indicate that there could be more updates in its internals in comparison to 250SR. Another notable cosmetic upgrade includes the addition of a large pair of winglets on the sides of the fairing. They are either made of carbon fibre or wrapped in a carbon-effect finish to give the motorcycle a more premium appeal.
    Although an increase in downforce or reduction of weight at front end seems immaterial since it has less than 30 bhp on tap and a top speed of around 130kmph. As far as styling goes, 250SR-R is expected to retain its sporty and futuristic aesthetic with subtle variations. Like most models from CFMoto, the upcoming 250SR-R and 300SR-R have been designed by KISKA designs, the same folks who have created designs for all KTM models.
    250SR is not available in India as of now, but future possibilities cannot be denied completely. The Chinese bikemaker currently retails models such as 300NK, 650NK, 650MT and 650GT in the Indian market. Expect more details about the upcoming sports bike in the next few days.

    New Motorcycle Spied In Pune – Royal Enfield Rival From Jawa, BSA Or Bajaj Triumph?

    In a turn of events that has sparked wide speculations, a new retro styled motorcycle has been spotted on road tests. Most likely it is Triumph’s first-ever single-cylinder model that is being manufactured in India in partnership with Bajaj. However, it is also possible that the bike could be 650cc single-cylinder BSA. Being developed by Mahindra-owned Classic Legends, BSA motorcycles will primarily target UK and other European markets.

    It has been reported earlier that Triumph Motorcycles is manufacturing their 400-700cc capacity bikes in India. There are some definitive clues that this heavily camouflaged retro-styled bike could be the new single-cylinder Triumph. One important piece of evidence is the crankcase design, which appears to be similar to that of other Triumph motorcycles.
    Other things like wide seat design, prominent fuel tank and side panel point out towards the Triumph DNA. Moreover, the Bonneville look and feel can be seen in components such as handlebar, use of spoke wheels, larger front wheels and smaller rear wheels, fork gators and chain drive on the right side. The tyres appear to be Pirelli units, which have been seen with other Bonneville motorcycles.
    However, most features appear to have undergone a certain level of evolution in comparison to Bonneville range. It suggests that this could also be an entirely new product from Triumph. The bike is likely to be powered by a 350-400cc engine, generating around 35-40 BHP and 30-35 Nm. It could get a 6-speed gearbox. The bike will be a world-class product, just like KTM and Husqvarna. It will be offered in both domestic and international markets.

    As it will be competing against Royal Enfield motorcycles, Triumph’s new single-cylinder bike is expected to deliver a throaty aural experience. This bike is expected to debut sometime next year.

    After successfully resurrecting Jawa, Classic Legends is working on its other projects that include Yezdi and BSA. The company had bought global rights for the iconic BSA brand in 2016. What we know so far is that the BSA motorcycle will utilize a 650cc single-cylinder motor.
    It is possible that the new retro-styled motorcycle spotted on road tests could actually be BSA. Its retro styling does look familiar to BSA motorcycles that were in production several decades earlier.

    BSA 650cc motorcycle will be assembled in UK. It will be positioned as a premium product in comparison to Royal Enfield 650 twins and upcoming Royal Enfield 650cc motorcycles. In addition to the standard roadster, other versions of BSA 650cc could also be launched. It could include a scrambler, cafe racer and cruiser.
    BSA will initially target customers in UK, where the brand has a strong recall. Other European markets will be covered later. BSA India launch is unlikely due to premium pricing and legal tangles.

    At long last, the much talked about Ola electric scooter has been launched in India on 15th August 2021. It is presented in two variants of S1 and S1 Pro and even as orders open online via the company website at Rs 499, deliveries are only slated to commence from October. Ola already claims to have received more than 1,00,000 pre-orders in first 24 hours of opening bookings.
    Ola S1 and S1 Pro get attractive colour schemes of Red, Sky Blue, Yellow, Silver, Gold, Pink, Black, Navy Blue, Grey and White. It sports a large TFT display offering a range of information and navigation and the display allows the rider to toggle between profiles allowing for individual customization.

    Ola electric scooter gets a ‘Hyperdrive motor’ with fixed batteries. The S1 gets a 2.98 kWh unit which delivers 8.5 kW peak power and can be charged in 6 hours via a 750W portable charger or upto 50 percent via the Ola Supercharger in 18 minutes.
    Ola S1 Pro sports a 3.97 kWh battery with an 8.5 kW motor. The S1 and S1 Pro claim a range of 121 kms and 181 kms along with a top speed of 90 km/h and 115 km/h respectively. Watch the S1 Pro achieving top speed of 115 kmph on an empty air-strip in the video below.

    Acceleration is possible from 0-40 km/h in 3 seconds and from 0 to 60 km/h in 5 seconds respectively. Kerb weight stands at 121kgs and 125 kgs. Ola S1 gets two riding modes of Normal and Sport while the S1 Pro gets an added riding mode called Hyper. The scooters use single side suspension and disc brakes at both ends and ride on 110/70-R12 MRF tyres.
    Dimensions stand at 1,859mm length, 712mm width and 1,160mm height. It gets a wheelbase measuring 1,359mm, ground clearance at 738mm and kerb weight at 74 kgs. Underseat storage stands at 36 liters claimed to fit two helmets inside the boot area.
    It gets reverse mode, proximity unlock facilities and the e-scooter can also be used in silent mode or emit a customizable sound via its onboard speakers. The S1 and S1 Pro receives all LED lighting and safety features include hill hold assist and cruise control. Ola Electric plans to introduce Ola Hypercharger networks which will be the largest 2 wheeler charging network at 1 lakh locations across 400 cities in India. This charger will offer a 75 kms range in 18 minutes.

    Ola electric S1 Pro scooter is priced at Rs 1,29,999 while in Delhi, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Rajasthan prices are at Rs 1,10,149, 1,09,999, 1,24,999, and 1,19,138, respectively thanks to subsidies offered by the various State Governments. The base variant Ola S1 will sell at Rs.79,999 in Gujarat, at Rs.85,099 in Delhi, Rs.89,968 in Rajasthan and at Rs.94,999 in Maharashtra. These prices allow the Ola electric scooter to compete with the TVS iQube priced at Rs 1.01 lakh, the Bajaj Chetak at Rs 1.42 lakh and Ather 450 which carries a price tag of Rs 1.13 lakh. More

    Bajaj Pulsar RS200 Black Colour Is Back – First Look Walkaround

    Bajaj has reintroduced the Graphite Black colour option on Pulsar RS200, thus becoming the fourth colour option in the entry-level superbike lineup. The other three colour options on offer are Burnt Red, Pewter Grey and Pearl Metallic White.
    Price of the newly added colour option has yet to be officially announced but in most probability, it will be offered at the same price as the rest of the options (Rs 1.61 lakh, ex-Pune). The bikemaker announced the introduction of the black colour option of RS200 by releasing a new TV commercial on YouTube.
    Styling Unchanged
    The new Pulsar RS200 Black wears the exact colour scheme as the motorcycle did in its BS4 era before being discontinued in its BS6 iteration. Contrast grey accents on the side panels provide a nice sporty contrast to the overall design.
    The menacing front fascia with dual-beam LED headlights is accentuated in this paint scheme. RS200 is considered to be the most aggressive looking motorcycle in the Pulsar range of motorcycles. Watch the first look walkaround of the new RS200 black colour below, credit to The Sameer Vlogs.

    The overall design cues are quite muscular with several creases and contours making it look very burly. The exhaust canister is styled quite neatly and compliments the overall motorcycle design. Apart from the new colour option, no other changes, neither mechanical nor in terms of features, have been made on the sports bike.
    Engine Specs
    Powering Pulsar RS200 is a 199.5cc fuel-injected, four-valve, liquid-cooled motor that churns out 24.2 bhp at 9750rpm and 18.7 Nm at 8000rpm. It comes paired with a six-speed gearbox and can attain a top speed of 141 kmph. This also makes it the fastest Pulsar motorcycle in the lineup as of now.
    Upcoming Pulsar 250F
    The Chakan-based two-wheeler manufacturer is currently working on developing a quarter-litre iteration of Pulsar which is likely to be named Pulsar 250F. The semi-faired motorcycle is expected to be a spiritual successor to the current 220F. It was recently confirmed by Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, that the upcoming 250cc version of Pulsar will be launched in India by November 2021.
    The date of launch should also coincide with the 20th Anniversary Celebrations of the Pulsar nametag in the country. Multiple test mules of the upcoming semi-faired motorcycle have been spotted in recent months. The design is closely related to the current flagship Pulsar 220F, hence, the new Pulsar 250F is considered to be a spiritual successor of the former.
    The upcoming Pulsar 250F will be powered by a new 250cc single-cylinder air /oil-cooled engine that will be good enough for 24 bhp and 20 Nm of peak torque. This unit will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox. More

    Bajaj Chetak Sales At A New High – Beats TVS iQube Electric Scooter In July 2021

    Chetak and iQube are currently the only electric scooters offered by mainstream two-wheeler manufacturers. Throughout 2021, significant fluctuation can be seen in sales of these scooters.
    Global shortage of semiconductors and restrictions due to second wave of pandemic have adversely impacted sales. Now another trend is evident, wherein electric scooter sales are rising due to continuous increase in fuel prices.
    Chetak ahead in July, but trails cumulatively
    Bajaj Chetak sales in July are at 730 units. As compared to just 31 units sold in July last year, YoY growth has improved by a staggering 2254.84%. In comparison, TVS iQube sales in July are 540 units. YoY growth is 2247.83%, as compared to 23 units sold in July last year.
    MoM growth for Chetak in July is 61.50%, as compared to 452 units sold in June. iQube MoM numbers are negative at -15.49%, as compared to 639 units sold in June. Even though Chetak is ahead in July, iQube maintains the lead in cumulative sales numbers. In the seven months from Jan to July 2021, Chetak sold a total of 1,261 units. During the same period, iQube total sales are at 1,715 units.

    With rising fuel prices, electric two-wheeler sales are expected to pick up pace in the coming months. Subsidies available at central and state level are another key factor that will help boost sales. Moreover, as charging and battery swapping infrastructure becomes easily accessible, more people will feel motivated to make the switch to electric.
    In view of these factors, both Bajaj and Chetak are working aggressively to expand operations to new cities. At the time of its launch, Chetak was available only in Pune and Bengaluru. It is now available in Nagpur, Aurangabad, Mysore and Mangalore as well. More cities will be covered in the coming months. By end of this year, Bajaj has plans to make Chetak available in 22 new cities. By March 2022, Chetak will be available in 40 cities.
    TVS iQube is currently available in Pune, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai and Coimbatore. More cities will are planned to be covered soon. It includes cities like Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Kolkata. iQube will also be made available in a number of Tier I cities.

    350cc Motorcycle Sales Jul 2021 – Classic, Meteor, Bullet, Electra, CB350

    A total of 39,034 units were sold in domestic market in July 2021. MoM growth is at 7.08%, as compared to 36,454 units sold in June 2021. Even single-digit growth is commendable, as the auto industry is just starting to recover from second wave of pandemic. Moreover, uncertainties still exist. In overseas markets, a total of 2,648 units were exported in July. MoM numbers are down by -10.99%, as compared to 2,975 units exported in June.
    350cc motorcycles domestic sales
    With market share of more than 94%, Royal Enfield continues to maintain its dominance in 350cc motorcycle segment. Leading the pack is Classic 350 with sales of 16,890 units in July. MoM sales are down by -2.80%, as compared to 17,377 units sold in June. Classic 350 commanded a market share of 43.27% in July.
    Recent dip in sales of Classic 350 is likely due to the scheduled arrival of next-gen Classic 350. It has been planned for launch on August 31. Next-gen Classic 350 packs in a range of enhancements including visual updates, all new J platform, and the new engine that currently does duty on Meteor. Vibrations are expected to be reduced significantly with all-new Classic 350. The updated bike also gets Tripper navigation.
    At number two is Meteor 350 with sales of 9,777 units in July. The bike has registered 11.48% jump in MoM sales, as compared to 8,770 units sold in June. Market share is at 25.05%. Since its launch in November last year, Meteor 350 has consistently ranked the second bestseller in this space.

    Bullet 350 takes the third spot with sales of 7,133 units in July. MoM sales have zoomed 34.15%, as compared to 5,317 units sold in June. Market share is at 18.27%. Bullet 350 will also be getting its next-gen version. However, an exact timeline for the launch has not been announced.
    Electra 350 is at fourth place with sales of 2,949 units in July. MoM sales are down -5.99%, as compared to 3,137 units sold in June. Market share is at 7.55%. At number five is Honda H’ness CB350 with sales of 2,285 units in July. MoM sales are up by 23.31%, as compared to 1,853 units sold in June. Market share is at 5.85%.

    Meteor 350 leads in exports with 1,737 units sent overseas in July. MoM growth is down by -26.80%, as compared to 2,373 units exported in June. Share in exports is at 65.60%. CB350 is second with exports of 841 units in July. MoM growth has more than doubled, as compared to 318 units exported in June. Share in exports is at 31.76%.

    Top 10 Two Wheelers Jul 2021 – Splendor, Activa, Platina, Jupiter

    Two wheeler sales in India is always an exciting space to watch considering the sheer volume of vehicles sold each month. Despite market disruptions owing to covid-19, two wheeler wholesales are being reported at decent volumes.
    The larger picture in 2 Wheeler market size is measured in terms of value (crore) and units sold (lakh). On a year-on-year basis, both the segments have been making breakthroughs to strive for an increase in total value and volume.
    Hero continues to dominate the 2 wheeler segment with majority market share and is followed by Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India. It’s difficult to disrupt this order as both manufacturers have a high volume product in a segment where they don’t compete with each other. This allows for new highs where growth and sales is considered.
    In fact both manufacturers have two products each that help build sales volume to gargantuan levels at over a lakh units each at the very minimum. In simple words, any one of these two-wheelers sells in more numbers than what other manufacturers are able to sell in total in each month.

    Of the top 10 two wheelers sold, in July 2021, Hero Splendor sales is reported at just over 2.5 lakh units at 17.52 percent growth. Volume growth stood at 37,381, up from 2,13,413 units at market share of 27.31 percent. Honda Activa scooter sales grew to 1,62,956 units at 37.10 percent growth. Volume growth stood at just above 44k units.
    Honda CB Shine sales grew to 1,16,128 units, up from 88,969 units at volume growth of 27,159 units. Of the top order, Hero HF Deluxe sales fell to 1,06,304 units, down from over 1.5 lakh units at volume loss of 47,838 units at 31.04 percent decline. While the numbers are out there to gauge, the comparison isn’t fully insightful keeping in mind disruptive market conditions for the comparable periods.
    Top 10 two-wheeler sales for July 2021
    For the Bajaj Pulsar range, sales fell to just over 65k units, down from 73,836 units at volume loss of 8,742 units at 11.84 percent decline. Bajaj Platina sales growth was fairly positive at 55.56 percent. Sales rose to 54,606 units, up from 35,103 units at volume gain of 19,503 units.

    The only moped putting on a show, TVS XL100 continues its showing in the top 10. Wholesales however fell by over 15 percent, down to just below 50k units from 58,403 units. Volume loss is reported at 9,124 units.
    Suzuki Access scooter wholesales doubled at 46,985 units, up from just over 23k units. TVS Jupiter sales fell by 22 percent, down to 38,209 units from 48,995 units. Bajaj CT100 sales fell to 27,962 units from 33,774 units. Wholesales fell by 5,812 units at 17.21 percent decline. In total, top 10 two-wheelers’ cumulative wholesales stood at 9,18,317 units at 8.21 percent sales growth. Volume growth stood at just below 70k units, up from 8,48,665 units. More
