    Yamaha has launched a new top-spec variant of its naked streetfighter MT15 in India. Called MT15 Monster Energy MotoGP Edition, Yamaha has priced the motorcycle at Rs 1.48 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it pricier by Rs 2,400 than the rest of the lineup.
    Other than a new colour scheme on top, there has been no other change made by the Japanese bikemaker on MT15. The livery on offer in the naked street racer is quite similar to what has been offered on the MotoGP Edition of FZ25 launched almost a month back. The latter has been priced at Rs 1.36 lakh (ex-showroom).
    Updated Livery
    The new paint scheme of MT15 benefits from Yamaha MotoGP branding on the tank shrouds, the fuel tank and side panels which emphasize the bike’s racing background. It also wears Monster Energy graphics on its fuel tank while the Yamaha logo is grafted in golden colour.
    In comparison to FZ25 MotoGP Edition, this special variant of MT15 gets a more subtle attire that misses out on blue inserts on the tank and headlamp assembly. Instead, this iteration of MT-15 gets small blue inserts on the radiator shrouds.
    2021 Yamaha MT-15 Monster Energy Moto GP Edition
    2021 Yamaha MT15 MotoGP Edition continues to sport the same design with an angry-looking face comprising a single LED projector headlamp and twin LED Daytime Running Lights. Other design highlights include a single-piece seat with a single grab rail for the pillion, underbody cowl, etc.
    Engine, Hardware Specs
    Everything else remains the same in MT15 including the specs and features. It is powered by a 155cc single-cylinder, fuel-injected, liquid-cooled, motor that kicks out 18.5 PS of maximum power at 10,000rpm and 13.9 Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm. It is the same powertrain that is on offer in YZF R15 V3.0. This engine comes with a 6-speed gearbox which is paired with a slipper and assist clutch.
    Speaking of its hardware, the delta box frame is suspended on conventional telescopic forks at front and a mono-shock at rear, mounted onto a box-type swingarm. Braking setup of the motorcycle employs a 282mm disc up front and a 220mm disc at rear which are assisted by a single-channel ABS. The bike tips the weighing scales at 138 kilos.
    Features on offer
    Other features on offer include a digital LCD instrument cluster, a side-stand engine inhibitor and Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) system. Yamaha will soon add Bluetooth enabled features to the MT15 and R15.     Jawa 650cc Bobber Based On Bristol To Rival Royal Enfield – Render

    Based on sightings of Jawa branded versions of Bristol motorcycles, it’s apparent that both entities have some form of agreement between them. Bristol Motorcycles is a Philippines based company that manufactures several bikes in 250cc to 650cc segment.
    Bristol Motorcycles is just around three years old, having commenced operations in 2018. The Jawa-Bristol arrangement could be something similar to what Jawa has with Mahindra-backed Classic Legends that sells Jawa motorcycles in Indian market.
    Bristol Bobber based Jawa 650 – key features
    Earlier, we had seen rebadged versions of Bristol Veloce 500 and Bristol Venturi 500. In their Jawa branded versions, these are called RVR500 and RVM500, respectively. While Veloce is a scrambler, Venturi comes across as an Adv motorcycle. Original Bristol and their Jawa rebadged versions are largely the same. This is likely to be the case with Bristol Bobber as well.
    Talking about Bristol Bobber 650, the bike sports a retro look and feel. Some key features include round headlamp and rear view mirrors, tear-drop shaped fuel tank, turn indicators and rear tail lamp, single piece seat, and broad rear fender.
    Jawa 500cc Scrambler
    Use of spoke wheels further enhances the motorcycle’s retro flavour. Handlebars are placed at an ergonomic position, which should ensure comfortable rides for most users. Customers can choose from colour options of black, dark grey, light grey and red.
    For European markets, Jawa branded Bristol Bobber could get a new set of colour options. Another likely change could be in engine emissions. As Europe currently follows Euro 5 emission norms, the bike has to be compliant with those standards. If emission standards in Philippines don’t match Euro 5 standards, the engine and exhaust system may have to be tweaked accordingly.
    Bristol Bobber engine and specs
    Bristol Bobber is powered by a 649cc, liquid cooled, DOHC parallel twin, 8-valve motor. It is capable of generating 69 hp of max power at 8500 rpm and 62 Nm of peak torque at 7000 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
    Jawa 500cc Adventure Motorcycle
    The bike measures 2,245 mm in length, 940 mm in width, 1,040 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 1,505 mm. Seat height and ground clearance is 740mm and 130mm, respectively. It weighs 225 kg and can carry 14.5 litres of fuel. Fuel efficiency is 16 kmpl and rated max speed is 165 kmph.
    Suspension system comprises KYB Telescopic forks at the front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking duties are performed by 345mm disc at the front and 280mm disc at the rear. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard.
    It is unlikely that Bristol motorcycles or their rebadged versions will be launched in India. Classic Legends managed Jawa India, however, may choose to introduce a larger capacity bobber or other motorcycles in the Indian market.     Top 10 Two Wheeler Exports June 2021 – Apache, Pulsar, FZ, Splendor, Dio

    A total of 3,47,035 units were exported in June 2021, as compared to 1,99,195 units in June last year. YoY export growth is at 74.22%. Bajaj continues to dominate with four of its two-wheelers in top ten list. TVS and Hero have two each, whereas Yamaha and Honda have one product each in top ten.
    Boxer maintains lead
    Sold in international markets such as Africa, Latin America and South East Asia, Bajaj Boxer commanded more than one-fourth share in exports. A total of 88,812 units were exported in June. YoY growth is 38.78%, as compared to 63,996 units in June last year. Boxer is popular for its reliability, affordable pricing and low-cost maintenance.
    At number two is TVS Star City 125 with exports of 66,521 units in June. YoY growth is 90.03%, as compared to 35,005 units exported in June last year. Star City share in exports is at 19.17%. TVS also has an aggressive focus on international markets, similar to the strategy being used by Bajaj. TVS covers around 60 countries across Africa, Asia Pacific, Latin America and Europe.
    Pulsar is third with exports of 26,003 units in June. YoY growth is 130.89%, as compared to 11,262 units exported in June last year. Share in exports is at 7.49%. In domestic market, Pulsar range will soon be expanded to include new 250cc motorcycles. It will have naked, semi-faired and fully-faired versions.
    Two Wheeler Exports June 2021
    At number four is TVS Apache with exports of 18,015 units in June. YoY growth is 245.18%, as compared to 5,219 units exported in June last year. Percentage share in exports is at 5.19%. Bajaj Discover is next with exports of 13,610 units in June. YoY growth is 80.70%, as compared to 7,532 units exported in June last year. Share in exports is at 3.92%.
    Hero Achiever enters top ten
    After Bajaj and TVS, Hero MotoCorp two-wheelers have started emerging as popular choices in international markets. We have already seen Splendor consistently featured in top ten for several months.
    In June, Hero Achiever enters the top ten with exports of 8,156 units. It has the highest YoY growth in top ten in percentage terms. Exports are up by 4082.56%, as compared to just 195 units exported in June last year. Share in exports is at 2.35%.

    Hot Wheels Electric Motorcycle Debuts – Up To 120 Kms Range

    Hot Wheels Super73-RX offers a top speed of 45 kmph while it can travel at a continuous speed of 32 kmph
    Hot Wheels is known for creating scaled size toy models of famous automobiles. But they are much more than just a toy manufacturer. The company has collaborated with American electric bicycle maker Super73 to build a real-life model based on the flagship Super73-RX.
    Only 24 units of Hot Wheels X Super73-RX have been made and not surprisingly all 24 units have been sold out already. Each such unit has been priced at USD 5,000 (approx. INR 3.71 lakh). The electric motorcycle gets a cosmetic overhaul over the standard model and looks much prettier to the eyes. However, it gets the same specs as the regular Super73 RX.
    Funky Styling
    The Hot Wheels edition of Super73 RX gets wrapped around in a slick new livery with Hot Wheels branding on the blue and orange tank along with similarly coloured stripes on the frame. The unique paint scheme is complemented by the panels dipped in black which lends it a sporty appeal.
    Foam on the handlebar and custom embroidered seat sourced from Saddlemen also scream of the Hot Wheels brand. The headlight gets a tint of yellow while the special medals have been made by Crankbrothers.
    Hot Wheels Electric Motorcycle
    To keep consistency with the all-black theme of the bike, the makers have blacked out the battery tank pads, chain and the large stainless steel panel situated in the middle of the frame. The electric bicycle rides on wire-spoked wheels with bronze rims shod by knobby tyres block patterns so that it could perform mild off-roading.
    Specifications
    Coming to its powertrain specs, the E-bike is powered by a 960-watt-hour battery which sends energy to a motor mounted on the rear wheel. The 2 kW motor returns an output of 2.7 bhp on electric power alone, the bike can travel up to 65 kms at a speed of 32 kmph. The rider can, however, extend the range up to 120 kms by riding the pedal in the Eco pedal assist mode. Top speed on Super73 RX has been rated 45 kmph.
    It takes 3-4 hours to juice up the battery from zero to 100 percent with a five-amp charger. By using a 3-amp charger the same task can be accomplished in 6-7 hours. What also benefits the bike is that at 36 kilos (inclusive of the battery pack), it is extremely nimble and easy to handle.
    Additional Goody
    Each unit is built on a pre-order and it takes 12-16 weeks for a single unit to be built before getting dispatched at the owner’s doorstep. While USD 5,000 may seem too pricey for an e-bike, Hot Wheels aficionados wouldn’t mind shedding these bucks.     KTM Duke 390 Xplorer GT Kit Launched By Autologue Design

    KTM Duke Xplorer GTDemand for road-biased entry-level adventure tourers is on the rise in recent times
    Adv motorcycles can not only conquer tough off-roads, but also have a sportier look and feel. However, with their advanced features and equipment, adventure motorcycles usually come with premium pricing.
    For folks who just want the adv look, a good alternative is to go for custom made body kits. To cater to this segment, leading custom shop Autologue Design has come up with dedicated body kits called Xplorer GT. These are meant to be used for KTM 250/390 Duke.
    Xplorer GT kit details
    Included in the kit are nose cover, side panels, wiring plug, adjustable visor and relocation brackets. These are designed in a way that they can be easily installed by the user. No advanced automotive knowledge or expertise is required to install these components on the bike.
    Xplorer GT kit for 250/390 Duke is available on pre-order basis. The first 30 orders will be cheaper, post which, prices will be increased for the next batch. Delivery will commence in 4-6 weeks’ time.
    KTM Duke Xplorer GT
    It is apparent that this kit focuses on introducing adv-inspired visual enhancements at the front. The nose cover, side panels and large visor work to achieve the adv look. The visor is functionally relevant as well. As far as hardware is concerned, the rest of the bike is the same as the stock version.
    Xplorer GT kit colour options
    Users have the option to choose the colour for their body kit. Three options are available, black, white and orange. If we look at the stock version, KTM 250 Duke is offered in colour options of orange and grey. For 390 Duke, the options are grey and white. Colours for the body kit are thoughtfully done, so that they work to enhance the overall look and feel of the stock motorcycle.
    Users also have the option to choose graphics for the body kit. Charges for these will be additional. However, it could be worth the price, as the graphics significantly enhance the bike’s attractiveness. The graphics will be installed on the nose cover, side panels, and front fender.
    KTM Duke Xplorer GT
    Performance improvements are not part of this body kit. KTM 250 Duke is powered by a 248.8cc motor that is capable of generating 30 hp of max power and 24 Nm of peak torque. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission.
    The bike uses a steel trellis frame with 43mm WP upside down forks and WP monoshock rear suspension. Braking duties are performed by 320 mm disc at the front and 230 mm disc at the rear. Dual-channel Bosch ABS is offered as standard. The bike weighs 169 kg and has ground clearance of 155 mm.
    KTM 390 Duke is powered by a 373.2cc motor that makes 43 hp / 37 Nm. It is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Braking and suspension system is largely the same as 250 Duke. 390 Duke weighs 167 kg and has ground clearance of 185 mm. More

    Ather 450X Vs Ola Vs Simple One Electric Scooter Comparison

    15 August, 2021 was a special day for India not just because it was the platinum jubilee of the country’s independence but also since it marked a significant step towards new emission-less vehicles. Ola Electric and Simple Energy officially launched their respective electric scooters Series S and One in India.
    Price
    While Series S has two variants- S1 and S1 Pro priced at Rs 1.00 lakh and 1.30 lakh respectively, Simple One will be offered in a single variant with prices pegged at Rs 1.10 lakh. After inclusion of state subsidies, prices of S1 and S1 Pro can drop to as low as Rs 85,000 and Rs 1.10 lakh respectively (all prices ex-showroom). Ex-sh price of Ather 450x is Rs 1.71 lakh.
    It is even more significant when one considers that both OEMs have had no history of vehicle manufacturing. Hence, we decided to compare the two new electric scooters with a model which has been in the market for a while now but comes from a relatively new EV startup- the Ather 450X. All three e-scooters are closely priced after consideration of FAME II benefits with 450X priced at Rs 1.32 lakh (ex-showroom).
    Specifications
    Starting with specifications, both new arrivals seem to pip Ather 450X as far as performance and single-charge range are concerned. S1 and One offer a motor with a peak power capacity of 8.5kW (11.5 bhp) and 7kW (9.4 bhp) which is significantly more than 450X which gets a peak power rated at 6kW (8 bhp). Torque output of Simple One is greatest at 72 Nm while S1 returns an output of 58Nm.
    Electric scooter comparison – Ather vs Ola vs Simple
    On considering range, Simple One offers a single-charge range of 236 kms while Ola S1 returns a range of 181 kms on a single charge. Ather, on the other hand, offers a range of 116 kms. (All ranges are as per IDC standards).
    Ola S1 Pro has the highest top speed of 115 kmph while Simple One offers a top speed of 105 kmph. Both scooters are based on tubular underpinnings while 450X is based on an Aluminium cast frame which makes it the lightest in the category at 108 kilos. Ola offers a unique single fork suspension unit at the front against the conventional telescopic forks offered in the other two scooters.
    Features on offer
    Coming to features, all three scooters offer modern connectivity options along with a 7-inch TFT digital instrument console. However, the latest entrants offer convenience of a touchscreen which is now available on 450X.
    Electric scooter comparison – Ather vs Ola vs Simple
    Apart from that, all three e-scooters offer common features such as all LED lighting, onboard navigation, Bluetooth connectivity and connected features like ride stats, vehicle tracking, voice assistant, and OTA (over the air) updates.
    Ola and Simple edge past Ather in terms of features as the latter misses out on gizmos such as Wifi connectivity, Geo-fencing, mobile remote start and others. Both S1 and One offer unique features like cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) respectively. Along with this, they offer plenty of customizable options for each rider.     TVS Sales, Exports Breakup July 2021 – XL100, Apache, Jupiter, NTorq

    TVS Apache Sales July 2021TVS Motors has reported YoY de-growth in domestic sales while exports rose significantly
    TVS Motor Company has registered a de-growth of 7.63 percent with scooter and motorcycle sales at 1,75,169 units in July 2021 as against sales of 1,89,647 units in the month of July 2020. Topping the list was the TVS XL the only moped from a reputed two-wheeler brand on sale in India.
    Sales in the past month stood at 49,276 units, down 15.62 percent over 58,403 units sold in July 2020. The TVS XL currently commands a 28.13 percent share. On a MoM basis XL sales increased 37.28 percent from 35,897 units sold in June 2021.
    TVS XL 100 is renowned as being a superior load carrier and is hence popular in semi urban and rural areas. It is also popular for the fact that it commands a lower cost of maintenance.
    At No. 2 in domestic markets was the Jupiter, which also saw sales de-growth in the past month, down 22.1 percent to 38,209 units. Sales in the same month of last year had stood at 48,995 units while MoM sales increased 19.97 percent as 31,848 units were sold in June 2021. Another model in the company lineup to see falling sales was the Apache with sales dipping 19.12 percent YoY to 27,228 units and MoM by 9.94 percent.
    TVS Sales July 2021
    TVS NTorq Milestone
    TVS NTorq was much in demand in the past month at 23,983 units sold, up 46.20 percent over 16,404 units sold in July 2020. In July 2021, NTorq sales crossed the 8 lakh unit milestone. The NTorq was launched in February 2018 and till the end of July 2021 has seen sales of 8,13,178 units. TVS NTorq is the country’s 4th best-selling scooter for FY2021 and competes favorably with Honda Activa, Suzuki Access and also with TVS Jupiter from its own company stables.
    Sales of TVS Sport remained on par on a YoY and MoM basis at the 10,877 unit mark. Radeon sales surged 116.61 percent to 9,466 units, up from 4,370 units sold in July 2020 while sales in June 2021 had stood at 8,132 units with a 16.40 percent growth.
    Star City, Zest, iQube and RR310 also noted YoY sales growth while sales of the TVS Pep+ dipped 56.14 percent. MoM sales of these models in the TVS lineup also saw sales growth except for the iQube which dipped 15.49 percent MoM.

    TVS exports for July 2021 stood at 85,765 units, up 62.38 percent over 52,819 units exported in July 2020. In the company lineup, it was the Star City 125 that commanded the most attention in global markets with 40,429 units exported, 110.70 percent over 19,188 units shipped in the same month last year. MoM sales also grew 14.39 percent over 35,344 units sold in June 2021.
    Star City on the other hand saw sales increase in terms of YoY basis by 38.58 percent but suffered a de-growth of 10.75 percent over 31,177 units sold in June 2021. TVS Apache was another model to report YoY growth which stood at 73.12 percent at 11,649 units sold in July 2021 but MoM de-growth of 35.34 percent over 18,015 units sold in June 2021.
    TVS Victor was also much in demand in global markets with growth reported in July 2021 while Sport exports dipped considerably both in terms of YoY and MoM. Ntorq exports dipped 54.72 percent to 326 units while Jupiter saw a 33.72 percent increase in demand in global markets with 230 units exported.     Bajaj Dominar 400 Facelift Launch Soon – Improved Styling, Feature Updates

    Even though Dominar 400 is a well-equipped and capable motorcycle, it hasn’t performed as desired in the sales department. Being the flagship, the expectations are pretty high with Dominar 400. Going forward, 2021 edition of Dominar 400 is expected to be launched during the upcoming festive season. As per information provided by some dealers, the bike could be launched in October.
    2021 Dominar 400 Facelift – Focus on styling updates
    It will be safe to assume that new Dominar 400 will pack in cosmetic updates. A set of new colour options could also be on offer. We have already seen new colour options introduced for 2021 Dominar 250. The smaller capacity Dominar is now available in three dual-tone colour options of Racing Red and Matt Silver, Citrus Rush and Matt Silver and Sparkling Black and Matt Silver. These new colour options have significantly enhanced the bike’s overall look and feel.
    It will be interesting to see what new colour options are introduced for Dominar 400. Both bikes are visually the same in most parts. Dominar 400 is likely to get different shades to ensure it remains distinguishable from its smaller capacity sibling. In its current form, Dominar 400 is offered in two colour options – Aurora Green and Vine Black.
    Aurora Green utilizes a flashy combo of glossy green against a black background. The green bits can be seen on the headlamp cowl, front fender, engine cowl, fuel tank and tail section. The green bits work to highlight the bike’s sporty design.

    The other colour option of Vine Black is essentially an all-black theme. Approximately, more than 90% of the bike’s surface is in black. The only components that don’t have the black shade are USD front forks and disc brakes. Bajaj could choose to continue these colours or completely replace them with new shades.
    Mechanical and feature updates
    Dominar 400 is a well-equipped sports tourer with a powerful 373.3 cc motor. Some key features include full LED headlamp with modes of automatic headlamp on, position lamp and low beam and high beam. The bike has LCD speedometer that displays a range of information including gear position. Being a sports tourer, the bike could benefit from a dedicated connectivity platform. However, it is not certain if Bajaj will introduce this in 2021 update.
    Talking about the engine, it is capable of generating 40 ps of max power at 8800 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. It is mated to a 6-speed transmission. It is unlikely that power and torque output will be tweaked in 2021 Dominar 400. The bike utilizes slipper clutch that ensures smooth gear shifts across all RPM. By reducing adverse effects of engine braking, the slipper clutch also enhances engine life.
    Dominar 400 utilizes a beam type perimeter frame with 43 mm USD forks and multi-step adjustable monoshock suspension with Nitrox at the rear. Braking duties are performed by 320 mm and 230 mm disc at the front and rear, respectively. Dual channel ABS is offered as standard. These mechanical bits are unlikely to change with 2021 Dominar 400.
