New 2025 Yamaha R3 Patented In India – Launch Soon?

New 2025 Yamaha R3 Patented in IndiaWith the launch of YZF-R3 and MT-03, Yamaha Motor India re-established its presence in the multi-cylinder motorcycle segment. Now, the company has just patented the 2025 Yamaha R3 in India, which gets the new design language. We expect it to be launched in India sometime in 2025, via the CBU route.
    New 2025 Yamaha R3 Patented
Up until the launch of R3 and MT-03, Yamaha sold a 150cc motorcycle as its flagship offering in India. They were launched at a starting price of Rs 4.6 lakh (Ex-sh) in December 2023, but were not well-received by Indian motorcycling enthusiasts. Especially the R3, which still donned the older design language.
New 2025 Yamaha R3 Patented in India
Pricing is also a key factor and the other factor was that R3 was not in sync with Yamaha’s latest design philosophy that even R15 flaunts so proudly. That will be fixed soon, as the company has patented 2025 Yamaha R3 in India, which might launch soon and replace the current model.
This new design language is inspired by R-Series styling of flagship YZR-M1 racing bike. This particular model has been launched in USA recently, where it is priced at USD 5,499, which roughly translates to Rs 4.62 lakh. USA market gets three colour options – Matte Stealth Black, Team Yamaha Blue and Lunar White / Nebula Blue.
    2025 Yamaha R3
    What to expect?
This new fascia gets a quad LED DRL signature and looks much nicer than what is currently sold in India. A single projector headlight is placed in the middle and DRLs flank it from both sides. Tail section is now sharper in design and gets new LED tail lights. Depending on the colourway, Yamaha offers USD front forks in a lovely Gold shade.
    New Yamaha R3 Fascia
Instrument cluster is fully digital and gets advanced connectivity features along with Y-Connect app support that doesn’t include navigation feature. 17-inch alloy wheels, 140-section rear tyre, 50:50 weight distribution, a committed rigging position, a USB charging port, sporty clip-on handlebars and a high-revving parallel-twin engine are notable attributes.
    2025 Yamaha R3
Speaking of the engine, 2025 Yamaha R3 gets the same 321cc DOHC 4V/cyl parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine that is capable of developing 41 bhp of peak power and 30 Nm of peak torque, mated to a slip and assist clutch along with a 6-speed gearbox. Yamaha Motor India might launch it here soon.

Production-Spec Aprilia Tuono 457 Spied Testing – Launch Nears

Production-Spec Aprilia Tuono SpiedFurther expanding their 457cc portfolio, Aprila is poised to launch the Tuono 457 in India soon. New spy shots of Tuono 457 have emerged online, suggesting that this motorcycle is in its final stage of testing. Aprilia India has already listed Tuono 457 on website and is expected to launch soon.
    Production-Spec Aprilia Tuono 457 Spied
Sold at an attractive price point of Rs 4.2 lakh (Ex-sh), Aprilia RS 457 brings a lot of excitement among India’s motorcycling fraternity. The company is now expanding this portfolio with Tuono 457, a naked version of the well-received RS 457. Both bikes will share platform, components and powertrain, while flaunting different body styles.
    Aprilia Tuono 457
With Tuono 457, Aprilia is expected to strike an even better price proposition. Probably even under Rs 4 lakh mark (Ex-sh). With the launch of RS 457, Aprilia achieved a new price that it could never do before. This is done with efficient manufacturing in India at the Piaggio production facility in Baramati, Maharashtra.
This strategy is similar to what the other legacy brands are doing like Triumph, BMW and Harley-Davidson. Speaking of, Tuono 457 will directly rival Yamaha’s MT-03, which has less performance and costs a premium, owing to its CBU route. Other rivals include the single-cylinder KTM 390 Duke.
    Aprilia Tuono 457
    What to expect?
As seen in the spy shots, there seems to be some testing equipment strapped on the pillion seat. There is some camouflaging on fuel tank, to hide the identity of this motorcycle. Other than the body style, Aprilia Tuono 457 is similar to the RS 457. Tuono 457 lacks a fairing and gets a unique headlight setup, inspired by Tuono 660.
Componentry changes include a conventional street-style handlebar for an upright stance and handlebar-mounted ORVMs, among others. USD front forks, rear mono-shock, front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, fancy swingarm, 17-inch alloy wheels with fat tyres and underbelly exhaust for mass centralisation are common between both bikes.
    Aprilia Tuono 457 Unveiled
Powering the Aprilia Tuono 457 will be the same 457cc parallel-twin DOHC 4V/cyl liquid-cooled engine. In RS 457, this engine delivers around 47 bhp of peak power and 43.5 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox. For Tuono 457, Aprilia might tune this engine differently to achieve a unique character. Launch is likely to happen soon.

Honda India Dedicated Electric Motorcycle Plant To Start Production From 2028

Honda Electric Motorcycle Concept – EV FunWhile Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India (HMSI) has been late to the electric scooter party, the company aims to be at the forefront where electric motorcycles are concerned. It is now revealed that Honda will start production of electric motorcycles in 2028, from a dedicated manufacturing plant in India.
Honda Electric Motorcycle Plant In India
In line with the Make In India initiative, HMSI has been on the verge of converting its Indian manufacturing facilities into a global export hub. Today, HMSI has emerged as the country’s second largest 2W manufacturer and is closing the gap rapidly with market leader, Hero MotoCorp.
With a dedicated electric motorcycle manufacturing facility in India, HMSI aims to capture a major market share in the world’s largest 2W market. Alongside this dedicated electric motorcycle manufacturing facility, HMSI has also laid plans to enhance their battery charging network in the country to reduce range anxiety for buyers.
HMSI has made decent strides to reduce TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) for buyers, which will strike as a major challenge associated with introduction of electric motorcycles. Honda mentioned that they’re striving to launch electric motorcycles at a price range where TOC of three years of ownership will be equal to that of its ICE counterparts.
Honda Electric Motorcycle Concept – EV Fun
As of now, Honda has not confirmed the exact models and model names of its upcoming electric motorcycles to be manufactured in India. The goal is to offer a wide variety of models with a common module, thus reducing development costs.
Also, Honda is working with multiple battery manufacturers in India to design and develop batteries of the right specification and application. Ensuring stable procurements of parts is another challenge that OEMs in India face. With local suppliers, Honda can achieve high levels of localisation, taking the input costs down and gaining higher profits.
    Honda Activa e and QC1
Honda Motorcycles & Scooters India Ltd just launched their maiden electric scooters in the form of Activa e and QC1. While QC1 is more budget-oriented, Activa e is the current flagship and is the only one to get swappable battery technology. QC1, on the other hand, has to make do with a fixed battery pack, but gets usable storage, which Activa e lacks completely.
Honda Electric Motorcycle Concept – EV Fun
With QC1 and Activa e, Honda is getting their foot into the EV game in India. Price starts from Rs 90K (Ex-sh) for QC1 and Rs 1.17 lakh (Ex-sh) for Activa e. Maximum range with these scooters is 102 km on a single charge (Activa e) with a max top speed of 80 km/h. Exact timeline for the Honda electric motorcycle plant has not been revealed yet. More

Bajaj ChetakBajaj Auto Limited has ended 2025 with negative sales. Sales of its two wheelers fell by 14.16% on a YoY basis while the company suffered a steeper MoM decline of 38.50%. Even as the Bajaj Pulsar continued to top sales charts, it was the Platina and Chetak along with the relatively new Freedom and CT that showed positive YoY demand.
Experiencing lower sales, Bajaj Auto has struck off some variants from its portfolio with effect from January 2025. These include the Pulsar F250, Platina 110 ABS and CT125X. Discontinuing Pulsar F250 comes ahead of the new Pulsar RS200 that has recently been launched.
    Bajaj Sales Breakup December 2024
Bajaj sales stood at 1,21,107 units in Dec 2024, down by 14.16% over 1,41,085 units sold in Dec 2023. It was a drastic 38.50% Mom de-growth from 1,96,906 units sold in Nov 2024. This led to a massive 75,799 unit dip in volumes. Bajaj Pulsar range continued to scale over other models in terms of sales even as it has suffered a 38.82% YoY and 42.95% MoM decline to 65,301 units.

Bajaj Auto recently expanded its Pulsar range to include the Pulsar N160 Single Seat Variant.
Bajaj Sales Breakup Dec 2024 – YoY
Platina sales grew by 58.26% YoY but declined by 42.61% on a MoM basis to 25,584 units. This accounted for 21.13% of the company sales. Registering positive YoY growth was also Bajaj Chetak electric scooter with 21,020 unit sales in the past month which was a massive 61.59% improvement from 13,008 units sold in Dec 2023. MoM sales however, fell by 18.15%. Chetak also made its way up to No. 4 on the top 10 scooter sales chart ahead of the Burgman, iQube and Ntorq.
Sales of the Bajaj Freedom stood at 4,173 units last month which was a 10.24% MoM decline from 5,953 units sold in Nov 2024. It was followed by Bajaj CT that also showed off positive YoY sales at 3,866 units, a 9.70% improvement from 3,524 unit sales of Dec 2024. CT MoM sales fell by 10.24%.
Bajaj Avenger and Dominar Sales December 2024
Bajaj Avenger and Dominar and both suffered lower YoY and MoM demand. Avenger sales dipped by 28.17% YoY and 44.31% on a MoM basis to 724 units. There had been 1,008 units and 1,300 units sold in Dec 2023 and Nov 2024 respectively.

Displacement-wise sales breakup for the Dominar showed its 400cc model more in demand over its 250cc counterpart. There were 226 units of the 400cc sold versus 213 units of the 250cc model sold in Dec 2024. More

Hero Xtreme 250R Vs Rivals – Pulsar, Dominar, Duke, Gixxer, Vitpilen

Hero Xtreme 250R vs RivalsWith the launch of Xtreme 250R, Hero MotoCorp has now entered the big boy league. We say this because Hero has had in-house developed motorcycles in the 200cc to 225cc displacement, but they didn’t put out massive performance metrics like Xtreme 250R is. This calls for a comparison between other popular quarter litre motorcycles on sale in India. Let’s see how Xtreme 250R fares.
    Hero Xtreme 250R Vs Rivals
Before starting this comparison, we have to get pricing out of the way because it is a key differentiating factor for buyers in this displacement class. Priced at Rs 1.8 lakh (Ex-sh), Hero Xtreme 250R is not as affordable as the expectations were. However, it still undercuts immediate rivals like Bajaj Dominar 250, KTM 250 Duke, Husqvarna Vitpilen 250 and Suzuki Gixxer 250.
Bajaj Pulsar N250 is still the most affordable, but is of a lower performance tier than the other 250cc bikes on this list. The most expensive one here, is KTM 250 Duke at Rs 2.45 lakh (Ex-sh). Unlike a few premium Hero motorcycles of the past (Xtreme 200S, Xpulse 200T), Xtreme 250R is desirable. This is quite a feat for Hero and Xtreme 250R might very well be the most handsome motorcycle. Especially in the Red shade.
All motorcycles here displace around 250cc and are single-cylinder in their architecture. Except for the Pulsar and Gixxer all other motorcycles have a DOHC head with 4V/cyl layout along with liquid cooling. Only the Pulsar N250 is mated to a 5-speed gearbox and others all get a 6-speed gearbox as standard. KTM is the only one with a quickshifter as standard, if you’re into that.
    Hero Xtreme 250R vs Rivals
    Performance & Weight
Vitpilen 250 and 250 Duke are the most powerful at around 30.6 bhp of peak power, but Xtreme 250R is not far off at 29.6 bhp. Where torque is concerned, Xtreme, Duke and Vitpilen boast 25 Nm. In terms of equipment, Pulsar N250 is at the bottom and is priced accordingly. However, Suzuki Gixxer 250 is also on the lower end, but is not priced accordingly.
Dominar 250 feels the oldest and the most out-of-date. Bajaj might bring in some fresh breath of air with similar updates we saw with 2025 Dominar 400. Dominar is the heaviest at 180 kg and has the longest wheelbase at 1,453 mm. Ground clearance is the highest with Duke and lowest with Vitpilen, where Xtreme is at a decent middle ground. Xtreme has manageable seat height, unlike Vitpilen which has a 835mm seat height.
    Which is most feature-rich?
That said, Vitpilen is the lightest at just 152 kg and the small 9.5L fuel tank might be a contributing factor here. Duke has the biggest fuel tank here, despite Dominar’s touring angle. It is Dominar that has the skinniest tyres with 130-section rear tyre whereas Pulsar N250 gets a 140-section and rest get 150-section. All contenders get single disc brakes at both ends, coupled with Dual-Channel ABS.
    Hero Xtreme 250R
Only the Gixxer 250 gets RSU telescopic front forks, while others offer USD forks. Pulsar and Dominar gets the 37mm USD forks, whereas Duke, Vitpilen and Xtreme get fatter 43mm forks. Mono-shock rear suspension is standard across the range. Hero is offering projector headlights on Xtreme 250R along with LED tail lights and LED turn indicators. It also has a fully digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity along with eSIM based connection and turn-by-turn navigation. Dominar is the only one without connectivity. More

It contributed 15.39% to company’s overall sales.

This was a marginal 2.89% YoY and a massive 41.35% MoM decline over sales in Dec 2023 and Nov 2024. In higher demand was TVS iQube electric scooter of which the company sold 20,009 units in Dec 2024.
TVS Sales Breakup Dec 2024 – YoY

TVS Raider and Ntorq Sales Decline YoY and MoM
Lower down the sale list TVS Raider and Ntorq suffered serious setbacks. Raider sales dipped 55.75% YoY and 45.06% on a MoM basis to 17,454 units. There had been 39,443 units and 31,769 units sold in Dec 2023 and Nov 2024 respectively.
TVS Ntorq too had undergone lower sales by 20.53% YoY and 43.82% MoM with just 14,981 unit sales in Dec 2024. Radeon (6,481 units), Sport (5,068 units) and Zest (4,386 unit) also suffered lower YoY and MoM demand. Each of these models experienced a more severe decline on a MoM basis.
TVS Sales Breakup Dec 2024 – MoM
Breaking this dismal sales performance seen across most bikes in the TVS lineup was TVS Ronin. This 225cc cruiser bike has seen improved demand by as much as 52.78% on a YoY basis to 2,035 unit sales in Dec 2024 from 1,332 unit sales of Dec 2023. Its MoM sales however suffered a 36.41% decline over 3,200 units sold in Nov 2024. The 2025 Ronin was also on display at the Auto Expo earlier this month with launch promised by March this year.
Star City sales were down 35.78% YoY and 40.41% MoM to 1,793 units. There was also the Apache 310, TVS’s flagship motorcycle that accounted for a sharp decline in sales to just 201 units in Dec 2024 down by 57.51% over 473 units sold in Dec 2023. It was also a 56.02% MoM de-growth from 457 unit sales of Nov 2024. More

RayZR scooter sales grew by 38.86% to 12,002 units last month, up from 8,643 unit sales of Dec 2024 to command a 32.63% share in the company portfolio.
