Ultraviolette Reveals Future Roadmap – New Electric Bikes, Scooters Teased

Ultraviolette TeaserWhile Ultraviolette has been operating in India’s niche premium high performance electric motorcycle genre for some time now, the company is taking significant strides in the mainstream market. We saw this with the launch of Tesseract electric scooter and Shockwave electric bike. Ultraviolette also teased a bunch of new products as well. Let’s take a look.
    Ultraviolette Reveals Future Roadmap
At their Fast Forward India event held in Bengaluru yesterday, on 5th March 2025, Ultraviolette launched Tesseract electric scooter for an introductory price of Rs 1.2 lakh (Ex-sh) and Shockwave electric enduro bike for an introductory price of Rs 1.5 lakh (Ex-sh). Introductory price for Tesseract is limited to first 10,000 buyers and Shockwave for first 1,000 buyers.
    Ultraviolette Tesseract
With these electric offerings, Ultraviolette has just entered the mainstream segment and aims to carve out a niche for itself. The company’s key differentiating factor will be technology, features and equipment along with performance and creating a community of like minded buyers, something which Ultraviolette has achieved with their F77 motorcycles.
Now that the company has launched Tesseract and Shockwave, Ultraviolette is also expanding its dealer network. The company has expanded its presence to 13 cities across India with their full-fledged Space Stations (showrooms) and Space Pods (touch points for test rides). Ultraviolette has showcased their Flight Plan (future roadmap), teasing probable future products.

    Ultraviolette Flight Plan
As revealed in their roadmap, Ultraviolette has segment its current and future portfolio into five series of electric 2W vehicles. These are called F Series, S Series, L Series, X Series and B Series. Ultraviolette CEO and co-founder, Narayan Subramaniam affirmed with this roadmap that B Series will get two vehicles, while the rest get three vehicles each.
In company’s analogy, F Series is associated with fast bikes, S Series with scooters and L Series with lightweight bikes, while the ethos of X Series and B Series will be revealed in the future. Currently, Ultraviolette has F77 Mach 2 and F77 SuperStreet in F Series, Tesseract in S Series and Shockwave in L Series.
    Ultraviolette Reveals Future Roadmap
Currently, Indian scooter segment has around 14% of EV penetration and it favours scooters priced under Rs 1.5 lakh (Ex-sh). Ultraviolette Tesseract not only fits into this price bracket, but brings quite an extensive range of features and technology that none of the scooters in India, or even the world, currently offer.
Also, Ultraviolette is offering the introductory offer with Tesseract to the first 10,000 buyers. This suggests the company is expecting big volumes. While Ultraviolette is pushing into electric scooter genre, Ola Electric is pushing into the electric motorcycle space with flagship Roadster Pro promising numbers that go beyond Ultraviolette’s F77 range at half the price point. Either way, this is not a bad time for OEMs to attempt something big in Indian 2W EV space. More

Ola Electric Feb 2025 Sales Decline 75% – 1,200 Job Cuts

Ola S1 Pro Sona EditionOnce the de facto electric scooter manufacturer in India, Ola Electric has had a colossal downfall with volume and market share declines beyond company’s expectations. 74.5% decline in volumes YoY and 64.5% MoM, to be precise, from 33,906 units registered in February 2024 to 8,647 units registered in February 2025.
    Ola Electric Feb 2025 Sales
The negative rep around Ola Electric is increasing and the company is now under the limelight for a colossal YoY sales decline and cutting down around a quarter of its workforce across multiple departments. Ola Electric is also under the scrutiny of IFCI for not meeting set milestones under the PLI ACC scheme.
The aforementioned issues surrounding Ola Electric are additions to the already existing ones revolving around drop in sales and market shares, plummeting share prices after its grand debut in August 2024, social media backlash for lack of quality in products and service, misleading advertisements, around 80,000 complaints in a month and many more.
One look at the sales charts, we can see that Ola has lost considerable market share to major rivals like Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, Ather Energy and Hero MotoCorp’s Vida. As per the VAHAN portal, Ola registered a total sales of just 8,647 units in February 2025. In contrast, Ola registered 33,906 units in February 2024, which resulted in a 74.5% YoY decline.
Ola Registrations February 2025 – Economic Times
At the same time, TVS registered 28.7% YoY growth with 18,748 units, Bajaj Chetak registered a staggering 81.8% YoY growth with 21,335 units, Ather registered 30.3% YoY growth with 11,789 units, Hero Vida registered 52.5% YoY growth with 2,607 units and other brands combined, registered 12.2% YoY growth with 12,802 units.
While mentioning sales, we are using the term ‘registered’ and not ‘sold’. That’s because Ola Electric quotes this colossal drop in sales to negotiations and optimisations of registration process, thus impacting the actual sales data for the month of February 2025 on VAHAN portal. As per Ola Electric, actual units sold may be more than 8,647 units in February 2025.
    1,200 Ola workforce laid-off
When Ola Electric filed for IPO launch in March 2024, the company disclosed that it had a workforce of 4,011 individuals. Majority of these workers were employed in manufacturing, supply chain management, sales and service fulfillment. In November 2024, Ola Electric let go of up to 10% of its workforce at around 400 employees.
    Ola Electric Scooter
In March 2025, the situation for Ola worsened with crushing financial losses. In a grand plan of restructuring, Ola Electric is laying off around 1,200 employees, which is more than a quarter of its total workforce. These include both permanent staff and contract basis workers and the company aims to curb costs and increase profitability.
Apart from workforce, Bhavish Aggarwal led Ola Electric has witnessed multiple senior-level departures as well. Primary of them include Chief Technology Officer Suvonil Chatterjee and Chief Marketing Officer Anshul Khandelwal. With a new multi-pronged approach, Ola Electric is poised to turn the tides around in its favour.

KTM 125cc Bikes To Be Discontinued Soon – RC 125, 125 Duke

KTM RC 125India is the biggest motorcycle and scooter market in the world. For many OEMs, sporty 125cc motorcycles bring in the highest fortunes, while the same can’t be said about KTM. The company’s 125cc portfolio is the least performing one in India as they command a high price tag. Due to low demand, KTM is reportedly axing them from April 2025. Let’s take a closer look.
KTM 125cc Bikes To Be Discontinued
Currently, there are two 125cc motorcycles from KTM – 125 Duke and RC 125. Both these motorcycles are aimed at the premium 125cc motorcycle buyers. Both bikes pack sophisticated equipment like liquid-cooling, a 6-speed gearbox and more. Hence, the price tag associated with these motorcycles are also high.
In the grand scheme of things, these 125cc KTM offerings are pitted as beginner bikes for motorsport enthusiasts too. A sentiment, however, which is not very popular in India. Especially considering Yamaha R15 and MT-15 exist and are India’s most popular premium motorcycles in this displacement segment.
As per a recent report, these bikes will not receive the OBD2B update, which is mandated if the OEM wants to sell said bike in India post April 1st 2025. KTM might have realised that keeping these motorcycles updated to latest norms set forth by the Indian Government without proper demand and dwindling sales may not be a viable move.
    KTM 125 Duke
KTM India is yet to officially confirm the same and both the motorcycles can still be seen listed on the company’s official website. Since we only have around a month of time for the OBD2B update mandate from 1st April 2025, KTM dealers might put out hefty discounts on 125 Duke and RC 125.
    Specs & Equipment
Both these motorcycles are powered by the same 124.7cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled DOHC 4V/cyl engine. This unit is capable of developing 14.34 bhp of peak power at 9,250 RPM and 12 Nm of peak torque at 8,000 RPM. There is a 6-speed gearbox mated to this engine, which is quite rare in the Indian market.
KTM had equipped RC 125 and 125 Duke in India with premium componentry as well. For example, both bikes got WP Apex 43mm USD front forks, 110-section front tyre, 150-section rear tyre, 320 mm front disc and 230 mm rear disc with switchable ABS. Both bikes even get the same styling as their larger siblings, making them virtually indistinguishable.

Honda H’ness CB350 New Colours Reach Showrooms – Launch Soon

Honda H’ness CB350 New ColoursIn a bid to better rival Royal Enfield’s robust 350cc portfolio, Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India (HMSI) has rolled the dice again. This time, the company seems to be launching new colours with H’ness CB350 to attract buyers and boost sales against Royal Enfield’s 350cc motorcycles like Bullet 350 and Classic 350.
    Honda H’ness CB350 New Colours
The retro classic motorcycle segment within the 350cc segment has seen a major demand in India. Catering to this demand, we have stalwart motorcycle manufacturers like Royal Enfield, Honda, Triumph, Harley-Davidson and Classic Legends brands, Jawa and Yezdi. One look at the sales charts show India’s one-sided love affair towards Royal Enfield.
    Honda H’ness CB350 New Colours
Challenging Royal Enfield at this game is Honda H’ness CB350, which is offered in DLX, DLX Pro, DLX Pro Chrome and the customization kits. The colours offered with H’ness CB350 include Precious Red Metallic, Mat Marshall Green Metallic, Pearl Nightstar Black and Mat Massive Grey Metallic along with Chrome colours like Athletic Blue Metallic.
Now, Honda seems to be adding new colours to H’ness CB350 as seen in the leaks on social media. There are three new colours in question and all of them look like they are Glossy metallic colours. Also, all three of them get interesting dual tone graphics on the fuel tank, which lend a retro vibe.
    Honda H’ness CB350 New Colours
Exact names of these colours are not out yet. It is not yet confirmed which of the H’ness CB350’s trims get these new colours. In the leaked images, we can see these new colour variants in the dealer showrooms, suggesting that the launch might be right around the corner.
    Any other changes?
In the images, we can see that these new colour variants from Honda get split seat setup with brown seat cover. All three of these new colours lack rubber fork gaiters which H’ness 350 always had. There is chrome in both mud guards along with chrome highlights in the engine bay. While the exhaust can’t be seen in these images, it is likely to be chrome as well.
Apart from the new colours and graphics, there doesn’t seem to be any other changes on these motorcycles. It will continue to be powered by the same 348cc single-cylinder air cooled engine that is capable of generating 20.78 bhp of peak power and 30 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
