Royal Enfield Himalayan 462cc Delivers 34 Hp – 129 Kmph Cruising Speed

A trusty off-roader, Himalayan gets all the better with tons of aftermarket components added in this customization projectRoyal Enfield Himalayan 462ccOn journeys that require both cruising and off-roading capabilities, one of the most affordable options is Royal Enfield Himalayan. Even for hardcore enthusiasts who may find Himalayan a bit lacking in performance, the bike doesn’t disappoint, as it can be easily upgraded owing to its simple architecture. In a recent example, YouTuber Motos Cades & Coffee has come up with some major modifications on his 2019 Himalayan. The bike has been upgraded to make the 1,000+ mile ride from Maryland (US) to Prince Edward Island (Canada) a lot more fun and comfortable. While Himalayan could have attempted this journey in its stock form, the upgraded customized version seems more apt for this trip.Royal Enfield Himalayan 462cc – 34 HP, 80 mph cruisingThis customization project focuses on achieving the best of both worlds, i.e., agility and high speed cruising power along with ample torque to conquer challenging off-road tracks. With the use of multiple aftermarket components, this customized Himalayan delivers around 34 horsepower. That’s a good 10 hp more than the stock version that makes 24.3 bhp and 32 Nm. This customized Himalayan could be pretty close to matching the performance of upcoming Himalayan 450.List of upgrades using aftermarket components is pretty long. It must have taken several days for getting everything up and running in a synchronized manner. Modified Himalayan has already been taken on road tests and performance is way better than the stock version.[embedded content][embedded content]Royal Enfield Himalayan 462cc can quickly reach cruising speed of 80 miles per hour (129 kmph) and sustain that without any issues. The bike will be put to even more gruelling tests to find its ultimate endurance limit.Upgrades for 34hp HimalayanA number of components come from Hitchcocks Motorcycles, for example, 462 cc Big Bore Kit, performance camshaft and Straight Flow Air Intake. The big bore kit comprises a new, larger cylinder barrel with English made forged piston. It is designed to fit Himalayan’s crankcase and does not require any machining. What the big bore kit essentially does is that it converts the stock 411 cc Himalayan to 462 cc.Hitchcocks performance camshaft works to maximise performance, all while remaining within the limits of standard ECU parameters. It is available for both Himalayan as well as Scram. For bikes with carburettor, the performance camshaft may require some manual fine tuning. Other upgrades for the bike include K&N Open Air element filter that has been used in combination with Hitchcocks Straight Flow Air Intake. These allow improved air flow, which in turn boosts performance.Another key upgrade is Powertronic custom and tuneable ECU system. It delivers a range of benefits such as smooth power delivery, quicker throttle response and enhanced power output. Powertronic ECU has been dyno-tested for delivering increased power output of 3-5 bhp. Other modifications include Powertronic FuelX Autotune Pro, PowerRage slip-on exhaust, heavy duty clutch and clutch springs, 15-tooth front sprocket and heavy duty DID chain and rear sprocket. More

New Honda Electric Scooters, Motorcycles – 10 EV Launches By 2025

Honda is currently not selling any EVs or flex fuel products in India which is set to change starting from 2023Image for illustration purpose. With just 85 units short, Honda India lost to Hero MotoCorp in overall (domestic+export) sales in August 2022. Both companies are also branching out to incorporate EVs into their portfolio. Hero is likely to launch its Vida branded electric scooter by the end of this year and Honda has revealed that it will launch an electric scooter in 2023.Honda is launching 10 new electric 2W vehicles or more by the end of 2025. These 10 or more EVs are to include a wide variety of segments. Not just that, alongside these 10 EVs, Honda will also launch flex-fuel motorcycles as soon as 2023. India is also under radar for some of these offerings. Let’s take a look.Honda New LaunchesHonda is launching 10 new electric 2W vehicles or more by the end of 2025. This is Honda’s plan toward an EV future and attaining carbon neutrality. Coming from Honda, this is big news as this motorcycle is arguably the most influential motorcycle company in the world.Honda has teamed up with other three Japanese “Big 4” (Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha) into a consortium in 2019 towards a uniform standard for batteries, charging stations and a few other EV components. This will significantly bring usability and ease for general consensus. For example, Apple sticking to lightning ports on few of their products is just a pain in the wrong place for everyone.Honda New Fun EVsThe Japanese brand also has a similar consortium regarding swappable battery standards with brands from the old continent like Piaggio and KTM. Honda’s 10 or more new EVs will be offered in the form of mopeds and bicycles, commuters and “fun” EVs. These models will be launched between now and 2025 with a few mopeds, bicycles and commuters to see the light of the day first.Honda New EVs Global LineupHonda has big ambitions of at least 1 million unit sales by 2025 and 3.5 million unit sales by 2030. With proper planning and marketing, Honda is likely to achieve its roadmap. Honda is calling its powertrain and control units Monozukuri and is likely to spawn on these upcoming EVs.Flex Fuel BikesSome of these EVs will also make it to India. One of them will be an electric scooter which is likely to get Activa in its name. Honda India recently patented a hub motor in India which is likely to fall on this product and future products too. In terms of batteries, Honda is likely to push swappable battery tech both here in India and globally.Honda New Launches – EV PowertrainHonda’s “fun” EVs are less likely to be launched in India though. Also, electric mopeds and bicycles are a lot more feasible for India. Honda is working on solid-state batteries that have superior battery chemistry and are also known to be safer. But mass-producing solid-state batteries are the only thing that is a fly in the ointment.Coming to flex fuel bikes, India is likely to be under Honda’s radar as we already use 10% ethanol blended fuels. These flex fuel bikes will be able to run on 20% ethanol and by 2025, Honda might also develop engines that can run on 100% ethanol too. India is set to roll out 20% ethanol blend fuels in select states in 2023. More

Harley Davidson ADV Motorcycle Gets A Price Cut Of Rs 4 Lakh

Harley-Davidson aims to bring almost all of its model lineup to India and in that regard, we also get Pan America ADVHarley Davidson Pan AmericaHarley-Davidson has been the most iconic American motorcycle company in the world. Okay, Indian Motorcycles exist. Still, Harley-Davidson has its own charm. It has a cult following even today and has spawned thousands of custom choppers by modders too. Harley-Davidson is seen with high regard when it comes to cruisers around the world. But there is rising popularity in ADVs and for a good reason. Just like SUVs are getting more popular among cars. Even manufacturers like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Bentley and Aston Martin make SUVs now. Sticking with ADVs, they can do most things that genre-specific motorcycles can only dream of. Touring, cruising, trail-riding, even off-roading? No problemo for ADVs.Harley Davidson has set its foot into EV world with models like LiveWire and others. With Hero MotoCorp backing the American brand in India, Harley-Davidson has managed to do a lot better in FY2022 over FY2021. The Milwaukee based company even sold out its new electric offering S2 Del Mar in just 18 minutes.Harley-Davidson Pan AmericaTo cater to this rising ADV popularity, Harley-Davidson launched Pan America. This is Harley’s first ever ADV who has been only manufacturing big, brawny V-twin cruisers till now. With changing times, Harley-Davidson, as a company, has grown longer in its tooth and has been branching out to cater to various genres.Harley Davidson Pan AmericaPan America ADV came with a new Revolution Max engine that is only offered with Pan America (1,250cc) and Bronx Streetfighter (975cc). This engine is a lot more performant than the company’s Milwaukee-Eight engine range. Even though it displaces almost as much as an Evolution engine, Revolution Max, like its name suggests, is a revolution to the max in terms of Harley-Davidson engines.Pan America ADV was on sale in India as well and got two variants. Standard and Special. Pan America Standard was priced at Rs. 16.90 lakh (ex-sh) and Pan America Special was priced at Rs. 21.11 lakh (ex-sh). But if we look at 500cc+ sales charts, Pan America has been a hard sell. Especially in 2022. Hence the company has slashed Pan America prices by Rs. 4 lakh. Effectively, Pan America Standard now costs 12.91 lakh (ex-sh) and Pan America Special now costs 17.11 lakh. With new pricing, Harley-Davidson aims to sell more units in India.Specs & CompetitionHarley-Davidson Pan America comes with a 60-degree V-twin Revolution Max engine that displaces 1,252cc while generating 150 bhp at 8,750 RPM and 128 Nm of torque at 6,750 RPM. It is coupled with a 6-speed manual gearbox while Honda Africa Twin offers an option for a DCT automatic. Pan America ADV comes with a large 21L fuel tank for the long hauls. It weighs a hefty 258kg and can hit a top speed of 200 km/h.Pan America Special gets brawny points like a semi-active suspension, adaptive lights, TPMS, spoked 19” wheel at front and 17” at the rear and even gets an option of adaptive ride height as well. With new pricing, Pan America ADV Standard rivals BMW F850 GS, Triumph Tiger 900 and the likes. While Pan America Special rivals Honda Africa Twin, Triumph Tiger 1200, and the likes. Harley-Davidson Pan America seems to be a better priced motorcycle now. More

Royal Enfield Kaptaan 350 Is A Thunderbird 350 Modified – Looks Mean

Royal Enfield Thunderbird 350 is the predecessor of Meteor 350 that is currently on sale in various global marketsRoyal Enfield Kaptan 350cc By Neev MotorcyclesNeev Motorcycles is a custom bike building company and has a history of building beautiful works of art. The custom motorcycle company mostly works on classic bikes and is very well known in India. In July 2022, Neev even built a custom Royal Enfield Classic 350 and called it Divine. This was done under Custom World initiative from Royal Enfield. But now, Neev motorcycles has pulled off another custom job and this one is called Kaptaan. This is not commissioned by Royal Enfield like Divine was. Instead, this was commissioned by a private owner of a Thunderbird 350. What Neev Motorcycles have been able to pull off, is really a piece of art. Let’s take a look.Royal Enfield Kaptaan 350Even though the pictures might suggest that it was based on a Meteor 350, it is actually based on a Thunderbird 350. I mean, Meteor 350 is the successor of Thunderbird 350 and retains its basic silhouette and cruiser stance. Neev Motorcycles has kept most of the cycle parts identical to stock donor bike.Even its engine hasn’t been fiddled with. Along with its engine, front telescopic suspension forks, rear dual shock absorbers, front and rear disc brakes and other braking hardware has been kept similar to stock Thunderbird 350 by Royal Enfield.Royal Enfield Kaptaan 350 Custom Side ProfileWhat is changed with Royal Enfield Kaptaan 350 are a lot of custom-built parts by Neev like front and rear fenders, a beautifully crafted fuel tank, a side tool box finished in chrome, a custom air box, carburetor covers, front fork covers and custom bobber leather seats with diamond quilting pattern.Other custom parts include a longer than stock swingarm, a wider handlebar along with bar-end mirrors, a custom stubby exhaust finished in black, a CNC machined wide triple tree, lathe machined axels and spacers, and handlebar risers. The main highlight of Royal Enfield Kaptaan 350 is that it gets a removable rear subframe. Also, an additional seat for a pillion.Modded PartsNeev Motorcycles has also sourced a few components from aftermarket offerings. Royal Enfield Kaptaan 350 now gets an aftermarket LED headlight. Thunderbird 350 got a projector setup but had halogen bulbs in them. Stock LED taillamps have been swapped with round after-market LEDs. Handlebar grips, digital speedometer, and rear tyre hugger are also sourced from outside.Royal Enfield Kaptan 350cc By Neev MotorcyclesKaptaan 350 gets a glossy grey finish on its fuel tank, fenders, and carburetor covers. While rest of the bike is finished in black to give it a menacing and clean look at the same time. We’ve saved the best for last and that is its wheels and tyres. With 140/90-R15 tyres wrapped around black alloy wheels, gives Royal Enfield Kaptaan 350 its muscle. These tyres are Speed Blaster from Ralco that comes with a unique cross-pattern that almost gives it a scrambler look. With fatter tyres at both ends, Kaptaan 350 even looks like a Harley from a distance. It is one of the prettiest custom builds we have ever seen that is based on a Royal Enfield Thunderbird. More

TVS NTorq 125 is regarded by many as the benchmark in the 125cc scooter segment and for a good reason tooTVS Ntorq Blue Colour – New LaunchTVS is not at the top of scooter sales as Honda takes that place. Honda can’t be shaken down from that spot any time in the future. With Activa as its backbone, Honda is the absolute scooter champ in India and appeals to the masses. Activa price hikes don’t hurt its image either. But when it comes to appealing to scooter enthusiasts, a few offerings from other manufacturers have carved a niche for themselves. With NTorq, TVS has made a mark in sporty 125cc scooter segment. Many even regard NTorq as a benchmark in this segment too. Ntorq 125 earns this title because it’s a good example of a balanced act. It has the right amount of features, performance, handling, and even fuel efficiency too.NTorq 125 has various variants and one among them is Race Edition. It was only offered in red and black shade for a long time and was accompanied by a yellow and black variant for some time as well. And now, TVS has offered a new Marine Blue colour choice for Rs. 87,011 and at first glance, it could be the best of the bunch. Let’s take a look.TVS NTorq Marine Blue – New Colour LaunchMechanically, TVS NTorq Marine Blue is identical to its counterparts. With a new shade on offer, TVS is now charging around Rs. 500 more for this scooter. Apart from Race Edition, TVS also offers NTorq Race XP which is slightly more powerful than the rest and also NTorq XT which comes with a colour TFT screen beside an LCD screen on the instrument console.TVS Ntorq Blue Colour – New LaunchTVS also offers NTorq Super Squad Edition in collaboration with Marvel Studio and offers Avengers theme scooters if that’s your jam. NTorq 125 measures 1,861 mm long, 710 mm wide, 1,164 mm tall and with a wheelbase of 1,285 mm.New Marine Blue colour makes the scooter look even sportier than it already is. LED headlights, LED taillights, and rest of the body panels are kept similar. All the connected features that Race Edition gets are obviously carried over. However, it doesn’t get the upgraded tech of NTorq 125 XT, nor does it get upgraded performance of NTorq 125 Race XP. Even Apache RTR 160 and 180 now gets some of these features too.Specs and PriceTVS Ntorq Marine Blue gets the tried and tested 124.8 cc single-cylinder engine. It gets a 3V head instead of a conventional 2V head offered by rivals. It makes 9.25 bhp of power at 7,000 RPM and 10.5 Nm of torque at 5,500 RPM. Whereas Race XP makes 10.06 bhp of power and 10.8 Nm of torque. Kawasaki W175 Brochure Leaks Ahead Of India Launch – Two Colours

Kawasaki W175 borrows design cues from its elder sibling W800 and promises retro bike vibesKawasaki W175 for India. Credit – Abhishek ChowdhuryKawasaki made a lot of news recently with its electric and hybrid powertrain. The Japanese company even plans for a fully electric portfolio by 2035 including both fully electric and hybrid models. In that regard, Kawasaki recently showcased a fully electric prototype similar to a Z250 and a hybrid prototype similar to a Ninja 250.With futuristic prototypes displayed, now Kawasaki India is set to get back to retro and classic bikes with a likely launch of Kawasaki W175. Based on Kawasaki’s Block Your Date invite for September 25, and the leaked brochure, it is highly likely that W175 is the next product from the brand. Also, it is widely speculated that it will be made in India, to keep the costs down as well.India Made Kawasaki W175 BrochureKawasaki W175 was supposed to launch a long time ago, but was believed to be delayed indefinitely. It was spotted testing multiple times in India around 2020. Okay, let’s not talk about 2020. Even though Kawasaki is known for its multi-cylinder engines in India currently, Kawasaki has had a history of selling budget commuters like Boxer in India with Bajaj. But W175 will be anything but budget. It will be targeted toward the premium commuter category and is also available in countries like Indonesia. Speaking of Indonesia, W175 recently got a new update there. It is available in three avatars namely TR, TRSE and Cafe Racer. TR is a scrambler, TRSE is a roadster, and Cafe Racer is, well, a Cafe Racer. India will get two colour options – Ebony and Special Edition Red.Kawasaki W175 for IndiaIn terms of features, India made Kawasaki W175 will get an analog speedometer, an analog odometer and an analog trip meter, a halogen headlight, halogen turn indicators and taillights. It will also get spoked wheels with a clean and minimal design with fewer body panels. Expecting more? Well, it is a retro motorcycle. What more do you want?Kawasaki W175 for IndiaSpecs & PricingKawasaki W175 is powered by a 175cc single-cylinder engine. It is an air-cooled motor that is capable of generating around 13 bhp and 13.3 Nm and is mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Looking at the specs, one might feel that this engine is a little uninspiring. But Kawasaki is trying to compensate with another number. That is its weight. Or, the lack thereof. At just 126 kg, it is significantly lighter than any retro bike that is donning an engine of this capacity.India made Kawasaki W175 gets traditional telescopic suspension at front and dual shock absorbers at the rear. Braking hardware is also pretty meek with just front disc brakes. While rear has to do with drum brakes. All these are mounted on a single-cradle chassis. But because of its weight advantage, W175 is likely to have a far better power:weight ratio when compared to its rivals.Kawasaki W175 for India. Credit – Abhishek ChowdhurySpeaking of rivals, Kawasaki W175 doesn’t have many. Going with premium retro bikes, we have FZ-X at the bottom end and Royal Enfield, Honda, Jawa and Yezdi bikes. With Hunter 350, Royal Enfield seems to have established itself firmly at Rs. 1.5 lakh. Speculations revolve around the Rs. 1.5 lakh price mark. Given Kawasaki’s premium image and the low 126 kg weight, Kawasaki W175 seems like a decent proposition. More
