Suzuki Sales September 2024 – Home Turf Wobble

2024 Suzuki Avenis – Glossy Sparkle Black / Pearl Mira RedSuzuki Sales September 2024 – Squeezes Out 1.22 percent Growth
Suzuki Motorcycle India reports total sales of 99,185 units in September 2024. This marks a slight increase of 1.22 percent compared to the 97,994 units sold in September 2023. The growth reflects steady sales performance despite challenges in the domestic market. Year-on-Year (YoY) growth demonstrates consistent expansion, albeit at a moderate pace.
Domestic sales for September 2024 saw a decrease, reaching 77,263 units, down from 83,856 units in the previous year. This represents a decline of 7.86 percent. The drop in domestic sales highlights ongoing market fluctuations, yet domestic sales contributed 77.90 percent of total sales in September 2024. These numbers indicate Suzuki’s substantial domestic market share despite the slight contraction.
Suzuki Sales September 2024 – Domestic, Export
April to September: Suzuki Grows by 71,962 Units in Domestic Sales
Conversely, export sales improved in September 2024, recording 21,922 units. A 55.06 percent increase from the 14,138 units sold in September 2023. The significant boost in export sales points to Suzuki’s expanding presence in international markets. Exports accounted for 22.10 percent of the total sales for September 2024, marking a slight shift in the company’s sales distribution strategy.
For the period from April to September 2024, Suzuki recorded domestic sales of 5,16,530 units. An increase of 71,962 units compared to the same period in 2023. Rise in domestic sales reflects Suzuki’s sustained efforts to maintain a stronghold in the Indian two-wheeler market.
Exports Fall by 22,037 Units in First Half of 2024
Export sales for the same period dropped, with 1,03,345 units sold between April and September 2024, down from 1,25,382 units in 2023. The decrease of 22,037 units signals a contraction in certain international markets, possibly due to varying global economic conditions. Despite this, Suzuki’s total sales for the April-September period reached 6,19,875 units. Reflecting 8.76 percent growth compared to the previous year’s 5,69,950 units.
Comparing sales month-on-month (MoM), Suzuki saw a decline from August 2024, when it sold 1,04,800 units in total. The 99,185 units sold in September 2024 marked a decrease of 5,615 units, equating to a 5.36 percent reduction. The month-on-month dip suggests short-term market volatility but remains within a manageable range.
Q3 Domestic Demand Up 7.34 percent: Suzuki Keeps Rolling
In terms of quarterly performance, domestic sales for Q3 2024 reached 2,65,345 units, showing a 7.34 percent growth from Q3 2023. This increase of 18,135 units highlights Suzuki’s consistent demand within the Indian market. However, export sales for Q3 2024 fell by 10.66 percent compared to the same quarter in 2023, with 55,354 units sold. Down from 61,956 units.
Total sales for Q3 2024 amounted to 3,20,699 units, an increase of 11,533 units from Q3 2023. This modest growth reflects Suzuki’s ability to adapt to market changes while maintaining a balanced sales approach. As fiscal year 2024 continues, Suzuki remains focused on strengthening both domestic and export markets through strategic adjustments.
Q3 Totals Climb 11,533 Units: Suzuki’s Balanced Growth Continues
Suzuki’s ongoing sales strategy, which emphasises export growth, appears to be paying off, with significant improvements in the global market. Meanwhile, domestic sales remain a critical area of focus as Suzuki navigates a competitive and fluctuating Indian market environment. The overall sales performance in Q3 2024 suggests a measured but consistent trajectory of growth for Suzuki Motorcycle India.
Devashish Handa, Executive Vice President – Sales, Marketing and After Sales, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. said, “The first half of the current fiscal year has been very encouraging for us. Strong customer demand has translated into growth of 16% in the domestic market. As we enter the second half of the year, coupled with the festive season, we remain optimistic and are fully prepared to meet evolving needs of customers.” More

New Kawasaki KLX 230 S Launch Soon Via CKD Route – Xpulse Rival

Kawasaki KLX 230 SWith localization, Kawasaki would be able to introduce the KLX 230 S in India at a starting price of under Rs 2 lakh
As the ADV segment shows significant potential in India, OEMs are aggressively targeting this space. Following a similar strategy, Kawasaki will be introducing the KLX 230 S dual-sport bike in India this month via the CKD route. The localized version will be based on the 2024 model sold internationally.
    Kawasaki KLX 230 S – Performance
Powering the Kawasaki KLX 230 S is a simple 233cc, 2V, air-cooled engine that delivers around 17.90 Nm of torque. Power output is expected to be around 20 hp. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Rival Hero Xpulse 200 from Hero MotoCorp has similar numbers to show at 18.9 hp and 17.35 Nm.
However, spy shots have revealed that Xpulse 210 is under development. It will borrow the 210 cc, liquid-cooled, 4-valve engine from Karizma. Power and torque output is 25 bhp and 20.4 Nm, which is higher than the upcoming Kawasaki KLX 230 S. In the USA, the 2024 Kawasaki KLX 230 S has 37 mm telescopic forks at front and a single shock with adjustable spring preload at the rear.
The bike has 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheels. Braking setup comprises 240 mm front and 220 mm rear disc brakes. Dual-channel ABS is offered as standard. The bike has ground clearance of 239 mm and seat height of 843 mm. Kerb weight is 133 kg, which is significantly lighter than Hero Xpulse 200 weighing in at 159 kg (Base) and 161 kg (Pro).
    Kawasaki KLX 230 S
    Expected variations in India-spec model
In the Indian market, Kawasaki KLX 230 S will have to comply with the latest BS6 emission standards. Moreover, some components are mandatory such as saree guard and front number plate. Considering all these changes, India-spec Kawasaki KLX 230 S could weigh around 140 kg. That’s still lighter than the currently sold Hero Xpulse 200 4V.
Being lightweight means that Kawasaki KLX 230 S will enjoy a greater power-to-weight ratio. Kawasaki KLX 230 S will be the third Kawasaki bike to undergo localization. Earlier, Kawasaki had introduced localized versions of the Ninja 300 and W175. Across international markets, Kawasaki KLX 230 S has tech features such as engine and chassis management systems.
With smartphone pairing, users can access a range of connectivity features. Using Kawasaki’s Rideology App, users can access vehicle information such as fuel gauge, odometer, maintenance schedule, etc. on their smartphone. Riding data and logs can also be accessed on the smartphone.
    Kawasaki KLX 230 S
It includes items such as rpm, gear position, GPS route, etc. When paired, call and mail notifications can be seen on the instrument panel. On specific models, users can also check and change bike settings such as payload settings, electronic rider support features and rider mode via their smartphone.
    Kawasaki KLX 230 S – Price
As it has to challenge the affordably priced Hero Xpulse, Kawasaki will be looking to introduce the KLX 230 S at a competitive price point. It will depend on the level of localization introduced for the bike. Estimates indicate that a pricing of under Rs 2 lakh can help attract enthusiasts. But Hero Xpulse, available at Rs 1.47 lakh, will continue to enjoy the price advantage. Even the upcoming Xpulse 210 model will be cheaper than the Kawasaki KLX 230 S.

It featured the new 399cc engine, which the company will now offer with other models like 2025 KTM 390 Adventure R as well. Also, there are two more 390 models, this time around.
One is called Enduro 390 R, which has been spied testing in India as well. The third mystery 399cc motorcycle is called 390 SMC R, which will be closely related to 390 Enduro R. Apart from these three, KTM could showcase bigger bikes based on 990 or 1390 platform at 2024 EICMA.

Apart from the 2025 lineup of 990 and 1390 based KTM big bikes to be showcased at EICMA, there will be three product showcases relevant to Indian market. These three upcoming motorcycles are based on the smaller 390 platform and will join the already-launched 390 Duke.
These are 390 Adventure R, 390 Enduro R and 390 SMC R. While we are familiar with 390 Adventure from the past, 390 Enduro R and 390 SMC R are new models. Notably, we have seen test mules of 390 Enduro R, but the 390 SMC R is completely out of the blue.

Speculations suggest that it could be a Supermoto version of this platform, closely resembling the enduro-style 390 Enduro R. Only the dual-sport Enduro is likely to get the 21-inch front wheel for extreme off-roading. Rivaling off-road motorcycle offering from Royal Enfield.
With all these motorcycles, we can expect a sportier look and feel. LED headlights, DRLs, sharper edges, colour-injected plastic parts and edgier graphics are likely. 2024 KTM 390 Duke utilizes a two-piece construction. It has a new trellis main frame, along with an aluminium rear frame. We can expect a similar chassis setup on these 390 models.
    What to expect?
The new frame not only enhances the looks but is also designed to improve agility, torsional rigidity and feedback from the chassis. WP Apex USD forks with adjustable rebound and compression damping, offset WP Apex split-piston shock absorber with pre-load and rebound adjustability, new lightweight alloy wheels, new four-piston radial brake calliper and a two-piston rear calliper are expected components.

Features-wise, we can expect ride-by-wire tech, a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth and navigation, a USB C charging port, illuminated switchgear, adjustable brake and clutch levers, and forged aluminium foot pegs are likely. There will be riding modes too along with a slew of electronic rider aids.
All these upcoming 390 motorcycles get the same 399 cc engine with 44 bhp of max power and 39 Nm of peak torque. A bi-directional quick shifter, a slipper clutch and a 6-speed gearbox are likely features. Engine characteristics might be unique to each machine.
After five long years, KTM is returning to EICMA and is likely to make quite a spectacle showcasing its impressive range of upcoming 390, 990 and 1390 motorcycles. The company is poised to showcase some of its upcoming technology like AMT gearbox and an 8.8-inch instrument cluster. There are rumours of 125 Adventure R and 125 SMC R as well, which will be interesting to see. More
