In India too, Team Blue has been popular when compared to Team Red (Honda), Team Green (Kawasaki), Team Orange (KTM) and others. As of now, Yamaha only has single-cylinder offerings in India. The company intends to change that soon with Yamaha R3 launch along with MT-03. Yamaha has showcased these to dealers and will evaluate for launch of R7, MT-07 and MT-09. Now, Yamaha India Chairman, Eishin Chihana has revealed the launch timeline for R3 and MT-03. Let’s take a look.Yamaha MT03 for IndiaYamaha R3 Launch By 2023 EndYamaha is re-introducing its multi-cylinder lineup in India. Even though we don’t expect all global multi-cylinder offerings, R3 and MT03 are of prime importance. They will launch in a popular segment where Kawasaki is currently offering Ninja 300 and Ninja 400.With its attractive pricing, Royal Enfield proves to be a juggernaut here with huge sales numbers to back it up. That said, the draw of a high-revving sporty machine is unmatched and will attract buyers. According to Eishin Chihana, we should see the Yamaha R3 and MT03 launch by the end of this year. Yamaha R7, MT-07 and MT-09 will be launched in India in 2024.What will they pack?Even though both R3 and MT-03 don’t offer cutting-edge TFT screens and other gizmos, they promise performant mechanicals. We’re talking about a parallel twin 321cc engine making 42 PS of power at 10,750 RPM and 29.6 Nm of torque at 9,000 RPM. This engine has a DOHC setup with 4 valves per cylinder. Putting this power down to the wheel is a constant mesh 6-speed gearbox.Front gets a USD telescopic fork setup with 130 mm travel, while rear is a mono-shock unit with 125 mm travel. There is a single disc setup at both ends with 298 mm disc at front and 220 mm disc at the rear. 110/70-R17 front and 140/70-R17 rear tyres could have been a little fatter considering 150cc R15 offers 140-section tyres. The design is in line with Yamaha’s flagship fully-faired motorcycles. LED headlights and LED tail lights look attractive. Fairing is sharp and appealing. Handlebars command a lean and rear set footpegs suggest committed riding posture. With 14L fuel in the tank and 2.5L oil in the sump, Yamaha R3 tips the scale at 169 kg, while MT-03 weighs 1 kg less at 168 kg. Being a Yamaha motorcycle, pricing will be on the higher side and will appeal to prospective buyers regardless.Source More

New Honda Monkey 125cc Lightning EditionHonda sells a number of small bikes and scooters, with Monkey being one of the most likeable and practicalHonda Monkey 125cc bike is quite popular in Japan and several international markets as well. In Thailand, Honda has launched a new Lightning edition. This is primarily a visually upgraded version, featuring a new colour scheme and other cosmetic touch-ups.With its exclusive profile, Honda Monkey Lightning edition commands premium pricing. It is available at a starting price of TBH 108,900, which is approximately Rs 2.59 lakh. In comparison, the standard Monkey variant costs THB 99,700 (approx. Rs 2.38 lakh). Honda also offers Monkey Easter Egg edition, priced at THB 109,900 (approx. Rs 2.62 lakh).New Honda Monkey 125cc Lightning EditionHonda Monkey Lightning edition featuresOne of the key highlights of Honda Monkey Lightning edition is the bright yellow colour shade in glossy finish. The unique ways in which the yellow shade is applied across the bike is another major draw. The yellow bits seem to have been applied in a random fashion. But still, the bike comes across as absolutely stunning and adorable. It’s probably the genius of Monkey’s design that allows it to retain its magic in any shade one throws at it.Monkey Lightning edition has the yellow shade on the USD forks, fuel tank, side panels, swingarm and twin rear shock absorbers. What makes the bike even more alluring is the liberal use of chrome. Front and rear fenders, headlamp, instrument console, brake and clutch levers, turn indicators and rear tail lamp are all done in chrome.New Honda Monkey 125cc Lightning EditionAnother interesting update is the checkered seat with quilted pattern. Stickering work on the fuel tank and side panels is also commendable. These have a contrasting shade and complement the bike’s overall look and feel.In terms of hardware, Honda Monkey Lightning edition is largely the same as other variants. It is powered by a 125cc engine that generates 9.2 bhp of max power and 11 Nm of peak torque. While earlier Monkey had a 4-speed gearbox, the current version comes with a 5-speed gearbox. Rated fuel efficiency under test conditions is 70.5 kmpl.Honda Monkey has disc brakes at both ends, with ABS at front. Fuel tank capacity of 5.6 litres seems adequate for urban commutes. Monkey also has capabilities to take on off-road tracks, as evident with the raised front fender and block pattern tyres.Honda Monkey India launch prospectsWhile Honda Monkey seems to have potential for Indian market as well, it is unlikely that it will be launched here anytime soon. The experience with Navi could be a factor in not introducing the Monkey in India. However, Monkey has a completely distinct and adorable profile in comparison to Navi. Enthusiasts around the world are enjoying the unique riding experience made possible by Monkey. One can only hope that Monkey makes it to our shores as well. More

Triumph 400 Maintenance Will Be Lower Than Royal Enfield 350 – Bajaj

Triumph Speed 400 maintenance and engine service intervalWhen compared to Royal Enfield, Triumph Speed 400 maintenance promises to be lower – less frequent services as wellBajaj-Triumph duo has launched their first motorcycle, Speed 400 in India. Since this duo announced pricing of Rs. 2.33 lakh (ex-sh), Speed 400 has garnered much interest. It offers twice as much power and a plethora of features and equipment more than Royal Enfield’s J-Series 350cc lineup. All this when it costs only Rs. 8,000 more than the most expensive 350cc RE.So what is the catch? Is the service / spares going to be expensive? Well in that case too Bajaj says the Triumph 400 will beat Royal Enfield. Bajaj-Triumph is claiming 10,000 miles service interval. Which translates to 16,093 km mileage within the life of the oil span. If one’s mileage is not 16,000 km a year, recommended oil change is once a year. Whichever is early. Triumph India is offering a 2 year or unlimited kilometer mileage warranty as well.New Triumph Speed 400Triumph Speed 400 Service and MaintenanceNot just that, Triumph even announced that Speed 400 maintenance will cost less than Royal Enfield’s. This is even more of a shocker as premium brands usually have higher service costs associated with it. Triumph seems to be charging according to the vehicle’s segment and not the brand. With its 350cc lineup, Royal Enfield offers a 10,000 km service interval for oil change and a 5,000 km service interval for trivial stuff like lubing and general checkups. Or once a year, whichever is early. For every 10,000 km service, Royal Enfield will charge roughly between Rs. 2,000 and Rs. 2,700 depending on motorcycle. Oil quantity is around 2.5L.New Triumph Speed 400How is Triumph doing this? The 10,000 mile service interval is in line with Triumph’s global portfolio. But India sustains higher temperatures and is generally a lot dusty than Triumph’s home turf, UK. That said, this product is co-developed by Bajaj, an Indian manufacturer. So, there should be logical reasoning behind this 16,093 km service interval.Company didn’t specify how much oil Speed 400 takes and oil’s config. But Bajaj-Triumph mentions that they have worked with certain oil manufacturers to facilitate this high service interval. Speed 400’s closest big bike from Triumph is Speed 900 and it boasts 16,093 km service interval too. But with around 3.3L to 3.5L oil.KTM’s 390 range is comparable to Speed 400 in terms of displacement, size, compression ratio, performance and other attributes. 390 range takes just 1.6L of oil and can travel 7,500 km before an oil change. General thumb rule is that more oil will take the vehicle longer before an oil change.A low-compression engine like the 3.0L Dicor from Tata Motors can go 25,000 km on an oil change. But it takes 6L of oil. So, it is likely that Triumph 400 is using more oil (probably fully synthetic) than other motorcycles in the segment, to achieve this incredible 16,093 km service interval. All the while, promising less service cost than Royal Enfield 350cc rival over a period of 3 years. More
