Ather Electric Scooter To Get Transparent Side Panels – But Why?

Ather electric scooter with transparent panelWhile the earlier iteration had a translucent effect, the side panels will be truly transparent this timeIt may not appeal to everyone, but the transparent effect does help a number of products to stand out. This design approach has been used for various products such as watches, computers, cassette players, gaming controllers, smartphones, etc. In case of Ather, the transparent effect was used with the Collector’s edition Ather 450X Series 1 electric scooter.Ather to bring back transparent panelCo-founder and CEO of Ather Energy Tushar Mehta has confirmed that the transparent panel will make a comeback. However, an exact launch date has not been provided. Tushar has also stated that the panels will be truly transparent this time. They will be different from the translucent units seen with Series 1 limited edition electric scooter.Ather electric scooter with transparent panelBack in 2020, the Collector’s edition Ather 450X Series 1 electric scooter was launched as a means to express gratitude to early adopters of 450X. A sizeable number of users had pre-ordered 450X, even when not much details were available about the scooter. In effect, these early adopters had played a key role in establishing Ather as a strong EV brand. To celebrate their contributions, Ather had launched the special edition Series 1 electric scooter with translucent side panels. It’s time again for another special edition, as the company is getting ready to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The transparent side panels are likely to be used with the special edition. The limited-edition model will be based on 450X Gen 3 electric scooter. Apart from the transparent side panels, the special edition model is expected to get other updates. A new colour theme is likely, complemented with sporty graphics and decals. It remains to be seen if the scooter gets any additional features or performance boost.Ather electric scooter with transparent panel – More powerful CPUTransparent panels – A visual extravaganzaWhen the Series 1 was launched in 2020, Ather had said that it was the first production scooter to get the near-transparent panels. It did have a nice visual impact, as one was able to see the internals such as the distinctive skeletal trellis frame. However, Ather is going completely transparent with the upcoming 2023 special edition. It reveals each and everything, which may not necessarily be all that attractive. An image of the transparent panel shared by Tushar Mehta shows the wires, clips, bolts, holes and slots, the battery casing and frame. The big picture looks quite chaotic, although there can be a sizeable number of fans who may appreciate this bold design format. A transparent watch or smartphone is different, as components are militarized and seamlessly interconnected. In the production version, Ather will probably have to play with some colouring effects on the internal components that are visible through the transparent panel. Designers will have a better idea about how to create the best visual impact with the transparent side panels. It surely doesn’t look all that great in its current form. The translucent panels used with Series 1 were far better. More

Yamaha R3 and MT-03Yamaha R3 and MT-03 are set to launch in India by the end of this year with models arriving dealers by mid-December 2023In April 2023, Yamaha showcased a few multi-cylinder motorcycles to various dealers across India. The showcase included fully-faired bikes R3 and R7 along with naked MT-03, MT-07 and MT-09. As confirmed by CEO, first ones to be launched in India are R3 and MT-03, followed by others in the future. Blue Square dealers are on the verge of being prepped for the launch to provide a seamless experience for buyers.Yamaha R3 and MT-03 inching towards India launchYamaha enthusiasts will surely be delighted to try out the big bikes. As of now, Yamaha’s India portfolio has a 150cc product as its flagship. That will change soon as our dealer sources have confirmed Yamaha’s internal notification, revealing crucial info regarding the motorcycle’s launch and a few behind-the-scenes processes. For starters, Yamaha will sell R3 and MT-03 only through its 200 Blue Square premium dealerships across the nation. These Blue Square dealerships offer customers much more than just a buying experience by being a one-stop solution to dive into Yamaha’s Call Of The Blue’ campaign and providing access to Yamaha’s Blue Streaks rider community. As seen in the circulatory passed by Yamaha Motor India, the company intends to provide a certain experience to their premium customers. In that light, we can see all the rigorous requirements Yamaha poses to their Blue Square dealers in order to get eligibility for R3 and MT-03 sales and aftersales. The sophistication of this new 321cc platform is evident as Yamaha is mandating dealers for more experienced and better-qualified manpower.Yamaha R3 and MT-03 dealer eligibility criteriaIf a Blue Square dealer meets all the minimal setup requirements, their name will be finalised for R3 and MT-03 model supplies. Yamaha will finalise the dealer list for R3 and MT-03 sales by 30th November 2023. Interested dealers can get eligibility on a later date too by meeting eligibility requirements. Hence the dealer list will be updated on 15th of every month. Supply of models to dealerships will commence by mid December 2023.Specs and featuresStarting with R3 and MT-03 seems like a good move, as this segment can generate the best possible sales numbers. Bigger capacity R7, MT-07 and MT-09 may also emerge as popular options when launched in the future. As of now, the best-selling 500cc+ segment motorcycle is Royal Enfield’s 650 platform with 90% market share in October 2023.Yamaha’s decision to bring its multi-cylinder bikes to India is a long pending demand from enthusiasts. Powering Yamaha R3 and MT-03 is a 321cc, twin-cylinder engine that churns out 42 PS of max power. Torque output is 29.5 Nm for R3 and 29.6 Nm with MT-03. The bikes are equipped with a comprehensive range of advanced features. Some key highlights include full-LED lighting, USD forks, full LCD meter and dual-channel ABS.Seat height is 780 mm, which should ensure optimal balance and handling. Ground clearance of 160 mm seems adequate for a variety of our famed roads. The bikes have 17-inch wheels at both ends, shod with 140/70 rear and 110/70 front tyres. Going by Yamaha’s pricing history, R3 and MT-03 may command a premium in pricing.Back when on sale, R3 rivalled KTM RC 390, Benelli 302R and Kawasaki Ninja 300. Now, it has to lock horns with Aprilia RS 457, updated KTM RC 390 with 399cc engine and Kawasaki Ninja 400. While MT-03 has a unique proposition of being the only multi-cylinder 300cc-400cc naked bike. But rivalry with updated KTM’s 390 Duke is evident. More

KTM 990 Duke Unveiled With 123hp Weighing 179kg – India Bound?

2024 KTM 990 Duke UnveiledAt 2023 EICMA Show, Team Orange globally unveiled 2024 KTM 990 Duke, based on an all-new frame and a 947cc parallel twin derived from 890 DukeThe popular Duke lineup from Austrian bikemaker, KTM, has seen a new entrant in the form of 990 Duke. Recently showcased at 2023 EICMA Show, KTM 990 Duke is the epitome of the brand’s motorsport-oriented ethos in street naked motorcycle format. As seen with test mules already, this platform will spawn a fully-fired RC 990 as well.KTM 990 Duke Unveiled With 123hp Weighing 179kgIn India, KTM currently only sells its single-cylinder lineup manufactured in collaboration with Bajaj Auto. This lineup includes Duke range, RC range and Adventure range. We wish KTM introduced more of its multi-cylinder lineup in India. But is the recently unveiled 990 Duke on the cards? Only time will tell. For starters, the new 947cc parallel-twin engine on 2024 KTM 990 Duke is a variation of 890 Duke R’s 889cc unit. The extra displacement doesn’t translate to a significant gain in power and torque, though. The 58cc increase in displacement yields 2 bhp and 4 Nm more, ekeing out 123 bhp of peak power and 103 Nm of peak torque.Even though the gain is not very significant on paper, there may be meaningful gains in real life, especially with in-gear acceleration. While the engine is based on its predecessor’s, the frame is all-new. This new steel trellis frame is suspended by WP’s premium components including a fully adjustable USD telescopic front fork setup and a rear monoshock.2024 KTM 990 Duke17-inch alloy wheels finished in bright Orange get Bridgestone S22 rubber with 120/70-ZR17 front and 180/55-ZR17 rear tyre sizes. Braking hardware includes 4-pot callipers at the front and a single-piston calliper for the rear, grabbing into 300mm dual discs at the front and 240mm single disc for rear.Specs and featuresWith all these components combined, KTM quotes a complete weight of 179 kg. In KTM’s words, ‘complete weight’ is likely to be kerb weight and not dry weight. Where electronic rider aids are concerned, KTM 990 Duke gets a bi-directional quick shifter, cornering ABS, cruise control, wheelie control, traction control, five riding modes and more.KTM’s Track mode and Performance modes allow riders to access features like lap timer, switchable ABS and TCS, and provide access to bike’s lean angle data for track excursions. These features, however, are free only for the first 1,500 km and then are offered via subscription plans.2024 KTM 990 Duke TFT Screen (left) and LED Headlights (right)All the rider aids and electronics can be accessed from the 5-inch TFT dashboard with Bluetooth connectivity, facilitated by KTM Connect mobile app. In terms of design, it looks like a bigger Duke 390, which is exactly what it is. There are distinct headlights along with muscular tank shrouds to prevent an identity crisis within Duke lineup. That said, twin vertically stacked headlight setup, boomerang shape LED DRLs flanking headlight, and the overall aesthetics might not be to everyone’s taste. The company is delighted to showcase F77 motorcycle in Europe. But the more tantalizing unveil from Ultraviolette definitely has to be F99 Factory Racing platform. This is a fully faired electric motorcycle with one of the highlights being its active aerodynamics.Ultraviolette F77 Europe DebutIndian electric mobility provider has taken long strides to extend its operations to the Old Continent. The company made its presence known at 2023 EICMA with its high acclaimed F77 electric motorcycle. Ultraviolette has revealed it will accept registrations from European buyers starting 15th November 2023.The bookings can be made on the official website and the price set for Europe is between EUR 9,000 and EUR 11,000 subject to federal or state government incentives and taxes. Upcoming Magron Novus and Raptee electric motorcycles will be primary rivals when launched. Where design is concerned, Ultraviolette has struck a right balance between aggression and elegance. It looks macho, and futuristic at the same time.F77 Space EditionThe 10.3 kWh battery pack powers the sole motor rated at 40 bhp of peak power and 100 Nm of peak instantaneous torque at 0 RPM. There are three ride modes too – Glide, Combat and Ballistic with distinct performance characteristics.Ultraviolette F99 Factory RacingExtending the vision from F77, Ultraviolette has unveiled fully-faired F99 Factory Racing Platform at 2023 EICMA Show. This is unlike anything we have seen from any indigenous Indian 2W manufacturer, ever. Garnering massive interest at the show, F99 radiated an extremely futuristic vibe that Ultraviolette is steering itself to.Specs are mind-numbing for any Indian indigenous motorcycle ever. We’re talking about a 120 bhp peak power that can catapult the motorcycle from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3 seconds. That’s not the most impressive part, however. That credit goes to a low kerb weight of just 178 kg and an even more impressive active aero trickery that Ultraviolette is demonstrating.Ultraviolette F99For its active aero bits, the company has derived inspiration from supersonic fighter jets. Most panels of F99 along with its winglets are made of carbon fibre. The term Active Aerodynamics is an umbrella for aerodynamic gains at cowl ducts and air windshield. These channel air to the motor where it is compressed and released through vanes, reducing air drag and optimising air flow. Then there is Air-Blade tech which is an electronically actuated system that increase downforce during cornering with the help of segments integrated within the fairing. There are multiple winglets and aero bits that contribute to aero efficiency, hence boasting a top speed of 265 km/h. Showcased in attractive White and Red colour combo, we can expect Ultraviolette F99 Factory Racing to go on sale in 2025.Ultraviolette F99 SpecsWords from the manufacturerNarayan Subramaniam, Co-Founder & CEO, Ultraviolette, expressed the company’s enthusiasm, stating, “We received an overwhelming response from enthusiasts across 190 countries, showing keen interest in the Ultraviolette F77. Going forward, the company will be looking to add some EVs to the mix. The journey has begun, with the Elettra e-scooter concept unveiled at EICMA 2023. This concept will hint at design direction that Lambretta has planned for the future.Lambretta Elettra e-scooter concept – Key featuresLambretta’s design team has done a good job at achieving a contemporary profile, without losing the signature features associated with the iconic brand. The face and overall body styling continue to evoke a sense of nostalgia. One can easily relate it to the Series 1 Lambretta scooter and its successors, as well as the Li-150 series 2 model, produced in India till 1976.Lambretta Elettra electric scooter concept has also evolved in line with the needs and preferences of the current generation. Some of the key features include all-LED lighting, a quirky hexagonal headlamp casing with rectangular lighting element, a rider-only seat with ‘Lambretta’ badging and modern-looking side panels. New innovations have been added such as the pop-out button-type brake levers. The curved rear section resonates with Lambretta’s classic design language used with several of its iconic scooters.Elettra e-scooter concept comes with an extra dose of LEDs. These can be seen with the various badging elements on the front apron, side panels and the floorboard. Some sections of the panel borders are also equipped with neon-style lighting elements. There are yellow bar end lights as well. However, it is unlikely that these fancy features will be available with the production-spec version.Lambretta Elettra classic apronElettra e-scooter will be easy to repair, as the entire rear section can be accessed by lifting the scooter’s rear bodywork. Something similar to what we saw with PiperMoto J Series Scooter with KTM 690 engine. Based on the design, it is evident that Lambretta Elettra e-scooter concept has a comfortable, upright riding stance.Lambretta Elettra e-scooter concept performanceSeat height is 780 mm, which should ensure optimal control and handling. The floorboard section has plenty of space. There’s storage space for small items at the front. Parts like the rear suspension and wheel and the electric motor of Elettra can be easily accessed in this manner.Equipped with a 4.6 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, Lambretta Elettra electric scooter generates 15 HP of max power. When using a fast charger in a public place, up to 80% charge can be achieved in just around 35 minutes.Lambretta Elettra profileWhile Lambretta will be looking to launch the production version in international markets as early as possible, it is unlikely that the scooter will be launched in India anytime soon. Last year, Lambretta had announced plans to re-enter the Indian market in 2023. It was in partnership with the Bird Group. An investment of more than $200 million, spread over a period of five years, was allocated for the venture. However, there have been no further updates. More
