    2025 Honda Shine 125 Launched – OBD2B-Compliant, New Features

2025 Honda Shine 125 LaunchedAfter Activa, the combination of Shine 125 and SP125 is the biggest contributor to Honda2Wheelers’ overall sales
With the upcoming stricter emission norms, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is in the process of making its two-wheelers OBD2B compliant. Shine 125 is the latest Honda bike to get the OBD2B update. Honda has also introduced multiple new features with the 2025 Shine 125.
    2025 Honda Shine 125 – What’s new?
Powering Honda Shine 125 is a 123.94 cc, single-cylinder, PGM-Fi engine. It now complies with the OBD2B emission norms. Power and torque output is at 10.80 PS and 11 Nm. The bike is offered with a 5-speed gearbox. A number of advanced technologies have been used for this engine. For example, eSP (Enhanced Smart Power) is designed to improve both performance and fuel efficiency. By reducing friction, eSP also ensures smoother, vibration-free rides.
    2025 Honda Shine 125 Launched
Other key features of the 125cc engine include an idling stop system. This helps save fuel by automatically turning off the engine at brief halts such as traffic signals. Shine 125 is equipped with an ACG starter that ensures silent starts. It works by removing the gear meshing noise. With the ACG starter, engine jolt at startup is eliminated.
2025 Honda Shine 125 has a USB Type-C charging port. The analogue instrument cluster has been replaced with a new fully digital instrument cluster. Users can seamlessly access a range of information such as gear position indicator, distance to empty, real-time mileage, Eco indicator and service due indicator. The digital instrument screen has an auto dimming function that ensures clear visibility across both day and night conditions.
New Black colour, wider rear tyre
In terms of its design, 2025 Shine 125 is largely the same as the outgoing model. However, users now have access to a new Black colour scheme. With that, the 2025 Shine 125 is now available with a total of six colour options – Pearl Igneous Black, Geny Gray Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Rebel Red Metallic, Decent Blue Metallic and Pearl Siren Blue. Shine 125 is preferred for its elegant profile. Some of the key features include a compact visor, curvy fuel tank design, long and wide seat and sporty graphics.
For a more robust road presence and to enhance stability, Honda has added a wider 90 mm rear tyre to 2025 Shine 125. The outgoing model has an 80 mm rear tyre. Other hardware specs remain unchanged. Both ends have 18-inch wheels and the front gets a 80/100 tubeless tyre. The bike utilizes a diamond frame and has telescopic forks at front and 5-step adjustable rear suspension. Braking setup comprises 240 mm disc at front / 130 mm rear drum for the disc variant. The drum variant has 130 mm front drum brakes. Safety is enhanced with a combi-brake system with equalizer.
    2025 Honda Shine 125 pricing
Base (drum brake) variant of 2025 Honda Shine 125 is available at a starting price of Rs 84,493. For the disc variant, users will need to pay Rs 89,245. 2025 Honda Shine 125 will continue to rival the likes of Hero Super Splendor and Bajaj Pulsar 125. More

Triumph Speed T4 Price Slashed To Rs 1.99 Lakh – Details

Triumph Speed T4In addition to being the most affordable Triumph bike in India, the Speed T4 is also well-suited for local riding conditions
Triumph’s 400 range has emerged as a popular choice, ranked 5th in the 350cc-450cc motorcycle segment. Speed T4 was launched in September last year and was intended to increase sales volumes. It competes with the likes of Royal Enfield Hunter 350, Scram 411, Honda CB350RS and Jawa 42.
    Triumph Speed T4 Price Slashed
At the time of its launch, Triumph Speed T4 was offered at a starting price of Rs 2.17 lakh. However, a special launch discount offer of Rs 18,000 was applicable for the bike. The effective price was Rs 1.99 lakh. Since it feels a bit odd to continue a discount offer scheme forever, the price of Speed T4 has now been revised to Rs 1.99 lakh. This also helps eliminate any confusion that some customers may have about the pricing of the bike.
    Speed 400 Platform, fewer features
Triumph Speed T4 utilizes the same platform as the Speed 400. It has a perimeter tubular steel frame with a bolt-on rear subframe. However, it misses out on multiple features such as USD forks, traction control, electronic throttle control and immobilizer. Users can access a more relaxed riding position with the Speed T4. It makes the bike more practical, considering the heavy traffic one often encounters on an everyday basis.
Talking about performance, Speed T4 and Speed 400 have the same 398.15 cc, liquid-cooled, DOHC, single-cylinder engine. However, Speed T4 generates 31 PS and 36 Nm, which is lower than 40 PS and 37.5 Nm of Speed 400. T4 has manual throttle control in comparison to electronic throttle control of Speed 400. Fuel tank capacity of 13 litres is the same for both bikes.
    Triumph Speed T4
While 17-inch wheels are common, the tyre sizes are different. T4 has 110/70 front and 140/70 rear tyres, as compared to 110/80 / 150/70 of Speed 400. T4 comes with conventional 43mm telescopic forks with 140 mm of travel. The USD forks onboard Speed 400 have 130 mm of travel. Parts common to both bikes include mono-shock rear suspension, 300 mm front and 230 mm rear disc brakes and dual-channel ABS. Both bikes also share the analogue speedometer with an integrated multi-function LCD screen.
    Dimensional differences
There are some dimensional differences such as seat height of 806 mm for T4 and 803 mm for Speed 400. T4 has a longer wheelbase of 1,406 mm, as compared to 1,386 mm of Speed 400. Speed T4 has a rake angle of 24.2° in comparison to 25.1° of Speed 400. That makes the T4 slightly better in terms of handling city riding conditions. It can be more agile and allow quicker steering. There is not much difference in wet weight, with T4 weighing at 180 kg in comparison to 179 kg of Speed 400.
For budget-conscious buyers, the Triumph Speed T4 presents a compelling option. However, for those seeking superior performance and features, spending an additional Rs 40,000 on the Speed 400 doesn’t seem too difficult. More

2025 Simple One eScooter Launch Price Rs 1.66 Lakh – More Range, Features

2025 Simple OneThe Bengaluru-based electric mobility solutions provider, Simple Electric, has entered the CY25 by updating its flagship scooter. The 2025 Simple One now promises more range and it packs more features in a bid to better rival the stalwarts in electric scooters like Ola, Chetak, TVS, Hero Vida and Ather.
    2025 Simple One eScooter
The electric scooter market in India has seen a major shift and the once-dominating force, Ola Electric, has seen a major drop in market share across CY24, allowing rival brands like Chetak and TVS to gain market shares. Now is the time for Simple Electric to make a bigger splash in this segment than they did before.
2025 Simple One – Headline Figures
Recently, Simple Electric has updated their flagship Simple One electric scooter and it is now priced at Rs 1.66 lakh (Effective Ex-sh). There are as many as four monotone and two dual-tone colours with the 2025 Simple One. These are Brazen Black, Namma Red, Azure Blue, Grace White, Brazen X and Light X.
    Specs & Features
The headline figures on this new and updated electric scooter include 248 km of certified range, 2.77 seconds sprint from 0-40 km/h and a top speed of 105 km/h. It has to be noted that the range is now increased to 248 km on a single charge, which used to be 212 km before. This is an increase of 36 km.
The components are mostly the same and the increase in range should be a result of a more efficient drivetrain or tweaked software to extract the max performance. The battery is still split between one 3.7 kWh pack fixed in the floorboards and a removable 1.3 kWh pack for a total of 5 kWh in capacity.
    2025 Simple One – Features
Other than the increase in range, 2025 Simple One also offers a TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System), a USB port for charging and regenerative braking system for energy recuperation. The company is also on the verge of expanding its dealership and service network rapidly. Ballpark figures is around 150 showrooms and 200 service stations by FY2026 end.
Obvious rivals for the 2025 Simple One are the flagship electric scooters like recently launched Ola S1 Pro+ 5.3, TVS iQube ST 5.1, Bajaj Chetak 3501, Vida V2 Pro and Ather 450 Apex. More

Top 10 States With Highest Electric Car, Scooter, Motorcycle Sales in 2024

MG Windsor EVMaharashtra and Karnataka are the top two states, ranked as per sales of electric cars and electric 2-wheelers in CY2024
EV sales are booming in the country and some states seem to be doing better than others. The difference is due to various factors such as population size, affluence, number of available options, subsidy and awareness about environmental protection. Let’s take a look at the top 10 states, ranked in terms of their electric 2-wheeler and electric car sales.
    Top 10 states with highest 2-wheeler sales – CY2024
Maharashtra leads in electric two-wheeler sales, with 2,10,174 units sold in CY2024. That’s around 30% share of the total 691,340 electric two-wheelers sold in the country in CY2024. Maharashtra is known as the country’s financial capital. It is also a hub for auto companies, with major manufacturing operations in Pune and Aurangabad. One of the popular electric scooters, Bajaj Chetak, is manufactured in Pune.
Indian States with highest selling electric two wheelers in 2024 – VAHAN
At number two in the list is Karnataka, with 1,55,454 electric two-wheelers sold in CY2024. Karnataka is also one of the auto manufacturing hubs in the country. In the two-wheeler segment, one prominent name is Ather Energy, which has its headquarters in Bengaluru. Moving on, the third state with highest electric two-wheeler sales is Tamil Nadu. A total of 1,14,762 electric two-wheelers were sold in the state in CY2024. Tamil Nadu is a major auto manufacturing hub. In the two-wheeler segment, popular scooters such as Ola, Ather and TVS iQube are manufactured in Tamil Nadu.
Uttar Pradesh is next, with 95,513 two-wheelers sold in CY2024. The state is currently the most populous state in the country, which is a factor for its high EV sales. At number five is Rajasthan, with 76,821 electric two-wheelers sold in CY2024. Other states in the top ten list include Kerala (66,854 units), followed by Madhya Pradesh (65,814), Gujarat (65,081), Odisha (56,306) and Delhi (31,536).
Indian States with highest selling electric cars in 2024 – VAHAN
Top 10 states with highest electric car and SUV sales – CY2024
Maharashtra tops the list in electric passenger vehicle (ePV) sales, with 15,044 units in CY2024. Next is Karnataka, with 14,090 units sold in CY2024. At number three is Kerala, with 10,982 units, followed by Tamil Nadu, with 7,770 units. At number five is Uttar Pradesh, with 6,781 units sold in CY2024. Other states in the top ten list are Delhi (6,527 units), followed by Gujarat (6,266), Rajasthan (6,130), Andhra Pradesh (4,079) and Haryana (3,880).
As is evident from above numbers, EV sales in India are currently driven by electric two-wheelers. Prices of electric two-wheelers have reduced significantly and are at par with their ICE counterparts. At least for the entry-level electric two-wheeler variants. In the future, newer technologies such as battery swapping could encourage more users to switch to electric.
Prices of electric cars and SUVs have also come down. But users still have to pay a slightly higher price when choosing an EV over ICE. However, with easy ownership programs such as BaaS (Battery as a Service), EV adoption is likely to increase in the coming years. The government has also announced tax relaxations for EV batteries and other components. This will make EVs more affordable. More

Ola Gen 3 Scooter Price Hike Up To Rs 15K – Introductory Offer Ended In 7 Days

Ola S1 Pro+ Gen 3Bengaluru-based electric mobility solutions provider, Ola Electric, has ended the introductory prices offered with their Gen 3 electric scooters. This has resulted in a price hike with their newly launched Gen 3 electric scooters by up to Rs 15,000. Not all the variants get a uniform price hike. Let’s take a look.
Ola Gen 3 Scooter Price Hike
Launched on January 31st, Ola S1 Gen 3 scooters were priced starting at Rs 79,999 (Effective Ex-sh). These were introductory prices only and they only lasted for a very short span of just 7 days. Revised prices have been revealed on the company’s website now and the Gen 3 scooters from Ola are now dearer by up to Rs 15,000.
This 7-day introductory offer is just enough to steer clear of the “misleading advertisement” tag and can be termed as a headline-generating strategy. Offering these introductory prices for longer would have made a meaningful impact on buyers.
Speaking of the price hike, Ola Electric has not messed with the headline-generating base price of Rs 79,999 (Effective Ex-sh) on S1 X 2 kWh variant. Also, both the top-tier S1 X+ 4 kWh and 5.3 kWh variants have retained their launch prices as well. This leaves Ola S1 X+, higher variants of S1 X and S1 Pro.
Ola Gen 3 Scooter Price Hike
Starting with S1 X, the 3 kWh variant has seen an upward price revision of Rs 4,000, while it is Rs 5,000 for the 4 kWh variant. With the new prices, S1 X still starts from Rs 79,999, but now goes till Rs 1,04,999 (both prices Effective Ex-sh). S1 X+ model gets a sole 4 kWh variant and gets a price hike of Rs 4,000 leading to a sticker price of Rs 1,11,999 (Effective Ex-sh).
The highest price hike of Rs 15,000 has been enforced on Ola S1 Pro model. Especially the 3 kWh variant. The 4 kWh variant, on the other hand, gets a smaller (relatively) price hike of Rs 10,000. The new price for Ola S1 Pro now starts from Rs 1,29,999 and goes till Rs 1,44,999 (both prices Effective Ex-sh).
    Ola Gen-3 Scooters
    What all is new?
When compared to the older Gen 2 range of electric scooters, Gen 3 gets a lot of improvements. They bring brake-by-wire technology promising 15% more range than Gen, single-channel ABS (advertised as “Dual ABS” with motor braking involved and not rear brakes), mid-mounted motor across the range, single integrated board, Move OS 5, DIY mode to control braking and throttle response, among others.
    Ola S1 Pro+ Gen-3
The top-spec S1 Pro+ 5.3 kWh variant from Ola Electric packs a massive battery pack populated by the company’s in-house developed 4680 Bharat cells. Maximum range promised is 320 km, peak power is 13 kW (17.43 bhp) and the top speed is 141 km/h. More

Honda Rebel 300 And ADV 160 Scooter India Launch Confirmed – Details

Honda Rebel 300 and ADV 160 India LaunchHonda Motorcycles and Scooters India is on the verge of expanding its premium motorcycle portfolio in the Asian subcontinent. As per recent reports, the obvious candidates for this expansion plan are Honda Rebel 300 cruiser motorcycle and ADV 160 maxi scooter along with an India-specific 500cc platform. Let’s take a look.
    Honda Rebel 300
The company’s premium lineup is sold via their BigWing dealerships. Currently, Honda has a few premium motorcycles on sale in India. These include Hornet 2.0, CB200X, CB300F, CB300R, CB350, H’ness CB350, CB350 RS, NX500, CB650R, CBR650R, Transalp and the flagship Goldwing.
    Honda Rebel 300
The new entrants in Honda’s premium segment are Rebel 300 cruiser/bobber style motorcycle and ADV 160 maxi-style sporty scooter. Reportedly, there are two new 500cc motorcycles in the development based on a new India-specific platform. Codenamed MLHJ and MLWA, these motorcycles are likely to make a bigger splash in the middle-weight segment.
Rebel 300 is expected to launch by the end of 2025 or early 2026. It will be powered by the same 286cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine as CB300R, which has been localised for cost efficiency. After the major price cut, CB300R is now priced at Rs 2.4 lakh (Ex-sh) and Rebel 300 could be positioned even lower, similar to global pricing strategies.
    Honda Rebel 300
Rebel 300 is built to be a comfortable cruiser for long hauls and it gets a low 690 mm seat height and it weighs around 170 kg. Retro styling cues are likely to work in its favour, positioning it as a high-tech alternative to Royal Enfield’s old-school 350cc motorcycles. The 500cc bikes, on the other hand, might use the same 471cc parallel twin engine as NX500 sold in India and will rival Royal Enfield’s 650cc portfolio.
    ADV 160 Scooter
Sporty high-performance scooters are getting traction in India. Yamaha Aerox 155 was a stellar scooter and Hero jumped into this segment with the newly-launched Xoom 160. India’s biggest scooter manufacturer by volume, Honda, aims to carve a piece of this pie with the launch of a new large capacity high-performance scooter.
    2024 Honda ADV 160
Codenamed K4LA, this scooter is highly likely to be ADV 160, or a version based on ADV 160. Either way, it will be powered by a liquid-cooled 157cc engine 16 bhp of peak power and 14.7 Nm of peak torque. ADV 160 gets large wheels (14-inch front, 13-inch rear) and packs an 8.1L fuel tank, which is larger than Aerox 155 and Xoom 160. Launch is likely in 2026 and pricing is expected to be on the higher side as this engine doesn’t do duty on any other products in India.
