Acura has begun production of the 2021 TLX 2.0T sports sedan at Honda’s Marysville, Ohio plant, and the Type S model will follow, although Acura has not specified a date. The base-model TLX will start at $38,525 when it goes on sale September 28, while the V-6–powered TLX Type S, which Acura says will start just over $50,000, won’t arrive until next spring.
The previous-generation TLX was powered by a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, and the new model will use a more powerful 272-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four. Both front- and all-wheel-drive versions are available. The high-performance Type S model, which will follow the 2.0T, is powered by a 355-hp turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6, which makes 65 more horsepower than the old TLX V-6. Both engines will be built at Acura’s Anna, Ohio, plant and will be mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission.
Prices for the TLX 2.0T can reach upward of $50,000 when fully loaded, and there are multiple trim levels available. A TLX with the Technology package starts at $42,525; the A-Spec model, which has a slightly more aggressive look and larger wheels, at $45,275; and the loaded Advance package model starts at $47,325.
Acura has not yet given details on the TLX Type-S’s starting price—only that it’ll be in the low $50,000 range—or when it’ll go into production. The 2021 Acura TLX will arrive in dealers at the end of next month starting at $38,525.
