- Ford has issued a recall for nearly 500,000 of its crossovers, including the 2015–2018 Ford Edge and the 2016–2018 Lincoln MKX.
- The recall is over a front brake jounce hose that may leak brake fluid, making it more difficult to brake.
- Also today, Ford issued two separate recalls for small numbers of the 2020 Lincoln Corsair and the 2020 Ford F-150 for different issues.
Ford has issued a recall for a total of 488,594 vehicles in the U.S., including the 2015 to 2018 Ford Edge and the 2016 to 2018 Lincoln MKX. The affected vehicles have a front brake jounce hose that can rupture and lead to brake fluid leaking, ultimately possibly causing longer brake-pedal travel and increasing the risk of a crash.
Ford said in a release that when the brake fluid levels become low, a light will illuminate on the dashboard. The automaker isn’t aware of any accidents or injuries resulting from the issue. To fix this problem, owners can bring their vehicles to a dealer who will replace the brake jounce hose with one made of a revised material.
Ford also issued two other recalls along with the one for the Edge and MKX, including one for the 2020 Lincoln Corsair and another for the 2020 Ford F-150. There are 2965 Corsairs being recalled in the U.S. for “insufficient clearance between the left and right rear coil springs and the toe link bracket,” leading to corrosion on the spring and premature fracturing, which can lead to the spring being separated from the vehicle. Dealers will trim the toe link bracket edge and replace the spring coil to fix the recall.
There are 431 F-150s in the U.S. being recalled for an improper nut attachment between a battery cable and the starter motor, which can lead to incremental heat generation while the vehicle is starting, ultimately increasing the risk of a fire. Dealers will replace the attachment to fix the recall.
Owners can check with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s recalls site for more information, which should be posted soon, and to see if their vehicle is included in any of the recalls.
